I neglected to purchase a Squaretrade warranty when I got the tablet from Amazon a little over a month ago. I went to their site and there doesn't seem to be anything against purchasing one now. If you are unlocking it might be worth it to get. It's only $55 for parts/labor and lasts for 2 years. Its another $45 for accidental damage.

Also, you typically have buyer purchase protection through your credit card, so you might want to check that out. They usually just extend the warranty which, if voided due to modding might not actually work, but they're not Asus so......

As we continue working on Custom Roms, etc. I just thought I would share some options.
Once I check my credit card I might get the SquareTrade one and no, I don't work there
I bought that squaretrade warranty for my infinity. 2 years plus accidental damage. You can beat it for $99.
I have used squaretrade for years but never actually used them lol. I baby my stuff.

FYI, unless you have a coupon code, It seemed to be quite a bit cheaper to buy the warranty with damage protection thru amazon than purchasing the same coverage directly from square trade. I did this and had a little trouble registering everything and confirming the coverage because the table had been purchased separately and about a month earlier. But a call to square trade got it straightened out and as far as I can tell, I have full coverage for 2 years now.

Unfortunately I missed the boat when purchasing the tablet on Amazon though.
if you bough the pas with a credit card, check with them, most credit cards have a double the stock warranty policy
You can get a $30 discount code from Squaretrade by signing up to an email list on their Facebook page.
The emails are sent out weekly, usally on Tuesday. The code gives you $30 off that day and $20 off the following week.
You should be able to buy the Squaretrade warranty through Amazon anytime, it's just a regular item found by a search.
I have square trade on my TF700 and my Nexus 7.
I also have the NegriCare plan for my Galaxy S III which is just like square trade but also covers lost and stolen phones
Definitely go with Squaretrade. I get Squaretrade coverage on all of my electronic devices, especially mobile devices. I once broke an iPad and they repaired and returned it within a week. The nice thing is that if you sell your device, you can cancel and get your money back, prorated based on the length of use. This is why I always get the coverage, since you have nothing to lose. I believe you have to get the coverage within 30 days of purchase.

I got my prime swapped to an infinity at best buy .. called up SquareTrade to explain... emailed my receipt showing it was changed out under manufacturers warranty and they transferred my warranty to the infinity at no charge.

Would the squaretrade discount codes work on amazon? it would go down to 40$ for 2 year accidental coverage which would be excellent!

Squaretrade give you 90 days for a new item purchased from a retail store.
I signed up for a newsletter from squaretrade so I can get a 30% coupon hopefully this coming tuesday because my 30 days is almost up... Is this true you have 90 days to get a squaretrade warranty if you bought it at a retail store?
All you need to do is email them and say you want a warranty with them but your buddy got 30% off. They will email you a code for 30% (Up to max of 30 bucks) off your next warranty purchase. I think when you buy via Amazon you have 90 days to sign up. I think the 30 days is only for eBay purchases.

So I just E-mail their support asking for a 30% discount coupon and theyll give it to me? Bought mine at bestbuy and my 30 day would be next thursday, unless I get 90 days. Amazon sells the squaretrade also for 76-78 dollars for the 2yrs ADH, but the 30% would still be better.
UPDATE: Just sent them an E-mail asking for a working coupon code.... lets see if they reply back with a coupon code .
You should get the 30% coupon. I always get one but I do have a number of devices under warranty with them. I checked their policy., It is 90 days for any retail purchase and 30 days for any eBay purchase.
I recently got a gs3 from a friend..so I did not buy through verizon or update my contract. With every single old phone ive had if i had any problem that was not due to dropping or getting wet i would call and the phone would be replaced through a one year manufacturer warranty. Is this still the same with the s3 and does it matter that i did not purchase it through verizon? i know i cant get insurance since i didnt purchase it through them but isnt it still covered from the manufacturer warranty? again i always got phones replaced for free if there was something wrong from the manufacturer.. as long as the phone had no signs of being dropped or abuse
I purchased my phone on another friends account, so I wouldn't loose unlimited data and was told by Verizon that it's fully covererd for 2 years. 1 year from Samsung and 1 year since I pay for the insurance. Hopefully I wasn't lied to!
My friend has bought a couple phones via craigslist and was able to put insurance on em. And yes you are still covered via the manufacturers warranty, atleast my friend was.

If it was from a Verizon retailer in best buy then it's still a verizon phone so yes

no sir verizon will not replace ur device if u cant take it back to best buy then do an insurance claim is the best route
If you have insurance with verizon you need to goto asurion.com and file the claim and pay the $100 and they will send you a replacement, no need to contact verizon. If your phone needs to be warrantied then call verizon and they will next day air you a replacement free.
Why oh why would you have VZW if you bought the phone at BB? BB insurance is cheaper, covers more, and has Jo deductible...

Bestbuy insurance is more expensive a month (cheaper in the long run) but not better imo. They take your phone and send it off to get repaired which sometimes can take a month to get back (friends was 3 weeks). If you want a loaner you have to put down a deposit for it too. They also dont cover lost/stolen phones from what I heard. Yes vzw's insurance has a $100 deductible on smart phones but they next day air you the replacement and iirc the 2nd time u file a claim they wave the $100 or drop it to $50? I remember something like that with my brothers phone but not 100% on that.
I have the best buy coverage and it's been great. 10ish a month, and no deductible.
I have replaced my wife's phone twice, (its my 18 month Olds favorite toy), had a loaner for no more then 2 days, paid 50 for the loaner, but that gets given back when I return the loaner.
Verizon coverage is more a month, 100 deductible. As long as she doesn't lose it, I feel like it's paid for itself easily.

False in every way imaginable. Lol.

I had to send in my old phone twice through Best Buy. Each time it only took 2 days to get a new phone because they would send me a new (well... Refurbed...) phone instead of repairing my old one
It now covers lost/stolen phones. And it's only a dollar more per month. Totally worth it, IMO.

VZW will only give 1 year warranty refurbished phones when bought from their stores/phone or their on-line site.
No third party phones. unless u get lucky for instance,
if you bought an incredible 4g off eBay and it crapped out and needed a refurbish, since you bought off eBay you can't get a 1 year warranty replacement from VZW, but if someone else on your line has the same phone, and bought it from VZW and is within the 1 year warranty, just call in and activate the eBay phone with issues to the line that has the phone bought from VZW, get a refurbish sent and send back the eBay phone.
now.. this is 100% going to work, but I've personally done this and it worked, but don't blame me if it doesn't

Verizon is $6.99 a month and the 1yr warranty from the manufacture gets extended for life of the phone (vzw will replace it after the 1st yr). But yes you do have a deductible on lost/stolen/damaged. If you want just the insurance without the extended lifetime warranty its $5.18 a month. So really its cheaper for just the insurance, BB is $10 x 24 mnths = $240. VZW is $5.18 x 24 mnths = $125. So if you only use the insurance once then it saves you $15
Whoa I didn't notice all the replies haha. I'm just thinking about doing an insurance thing since the gps is never 100 percent.
I went to best buy because I have the credit card with no interest for 18 months, and i paid full price since I didn't wanna lose my unlimited data

current binary: samsung official

My charge port on my S3 is going to crap. I have insurance on my phone though and thinking about getting a new one. Has anyone got a new phone through Verizon insurance? How much did you have to pay? Was it new of a refurb? Thanks

If the phone is under a year old Verizon should just replace it without going through insurance. They most certainly send you a certified-like-new device. If the process is handled by Verizon it will either be free or like $3 for overnight shipping.

If your phone is more than a year old, you will have to go through the insurance. It will cost $99 and you get a brand new phone not a refurb.
If you have the complete verizon insurance package you dont need to go through insurance they will replace it for you, they did the same for mine when it wouldnt turn out
From what I was told you have to pay $90
As long as you paid for insurance. Which is 10 a month for two years or $100 up front which covers the two years
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
If you have insurance through Verizon Wireless (not some authorized seller of Verizon products) it is handled by Asurion, a third party insurance provider. If you need insurance replacement (lost, stolen, or damaged phone) it is $99 dollars. The phone you get from Asurion will most likely be refurbished but occasionally they do send new ones depending on stock.
If the port has stopped working because of a manufacturer defect with the device and not because it was damaged somehow, then you have to go through Verizon. If it's under warranty (been less than a year since you purchased the device) or if it's been more than a year and you have an extended warranty the device will be replaced at no charge through Verizon
If it's a manufacturer's defect the insurance company won't replace it. It has to be covered by warranty.

I read somewhere that if you register this phone with Asus you can activate a two-year warranty. Is this true and has anyone in the USA done it? Is anyone out there knowledgeable in what the warranty covers? The one thing that I get nervous about when buying electronics not available in the US is that I cannot get any kind of warranty on them!!! Is there ANY good news? Thanks for your time!
