Out of space? - Motorola Atrix 2

When I try to install an apk it says I'm out of space. I still have 3.7gb left there. However I was able to install an app from play store this morning!

Sounds silly, but did you reboot?

Go into data/app if there is any file related to the one you're trying to install delete it. That file maybe an apk or an odex file. You need to find it and delete it.

Did reboot. Still the same. And I couldn't find any file related to the app in system/app. I had this issue even on stock GB. I couldn't install anything after I reached 1gb. I also moved many apps to SD. But for no good

Well under the same happened to me a few days ago but with titanium backup. My problem was there was a remaining odes file of titanium backup not exactly by the same name but Kermidas something I remembered it belonged to titanium so deleting it did the job for me.

Where the hell is the rest of the memory going???
Well someone in the other tgread said they called tmobile and found out its a software issue with the phone not seeing the rest of the memory. A fix is supposedly being worked on by samsung

Itll be fixed by Team Whiskey way before Samsung

Yeah I was the one who called. I even went and exchanged my phone for a new one and the memory problem was still there. Best thing you can do is call and complain really. They told me no one else had complained about the problem to them yet so they had no idea what to say. The more people who complain the bigger the problem becomes and they'll fix it.
But I agree, we will have a fix here on xda before an OTA is issued
So, in a test, I just deleted almost everything on my phone, except the required items for it to run properly. Checked my memory, and it s now LESS available!!!! WTF Samsung?!?!?!?

I think I should have realized the application storage is counted in /data partition. Delete ANYTHING from /system/app doesn't help.
There should be something can be done on partitioning.
I used this method and it worked great for me. I Had 151mb free now I have 369mb free. Scroll down to the How to Delete Fota files and follows the steps.
Here is the link.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1025610
Bigken777
Unzip attached files and move them to the data\fota directory.
these files will replace the actual files and will free 250 Mb/
any more questions, look for the thread in development
Did the Fota fix also and got 300mb
Hey guys i tried the fota fix, which also appears on another thread, but once i dumped the files into app/fota it didn't free up any space...i must be doing something wrong, any suggestions?

Yea that Fota.zip is the only way to clear up the application storage. I was happy with how it worked

Well, great question cuz, im only dragging and dropping the files not actually pushing them, so i guess that might be part of tha problem. is there an app i could use to do this? Thanx in advance, im a n00b at this...

The easiest way is to use "root explorer" or "super manager" copy them and drop them in the fota file and it will over write them. I actually made a copy of the original fota files on my sdcard just in case.

If you use root explorer make sure you click on the "Mount r/w" at the top. that ensures you have permissions to write to the /data/fota folder
A little more on this is that you're replacing the Firmware(?) Over The Air (FOTA) files. They are each 125MB so you should gain about 250MB of storage.
Make sure you look at the size, the new files are 0k. I used super manager, it was really easy to use. Don't forget to make the system R/W.
thanx 4 sharing guys, i will try again as soon as i get a break from work...

Just to update, i finally got around to the fota fix and managed to free up arnd 300 megs. Used sypermanager to push the files. Thx to everyone who cooperated...

There was already an app created by Mat to do this instead of mod procedures. In market just search for fota. Rest will follow thru the app. Make's life simple.

Problems with XDA app

Hello guys.
I'm having a problem with the XDA dev app. I have the official (free) version of it.
I got the app with the custom ROM I recently installed, but the problem is when I'm going to read threads in subforums, the application crashes.
That happens with any threads I'm trying to go to a thread.
So I saw a update for the app, but when I press "Update" in market and after a couple of seconds the installation fails. I says: "Package is not signed correctly" or something like that.
So I don't know what to do now
I want to read XDA Forum threads on my X10!
Please help me with this annoying problem.
Thanks,
Unistall with titanium and reinstall from market should sort it.
Kieron

uninstall that with TB than reinstall from market
Thanks for both answers.
Okay, I have removed it with TB and TRIED to install from market again, but now Im getting this message: "Incompatible Update".
What's wrong now?
I wondering if the two problems u having are related somehow

Ah, I manage to install the app now!
The problem was that I had installed Scamble (custom ROM) and had problem with my operator (could not call, or anything) because I didn't patch my baseband!
So now I have patched and everything works now, I can install the app without any problems!
Thank you guys for all the help,
Nice u got it up and running
Yeah
But I have another question I just take in this thread.
Where is my apps I download from Android Market? I have looked in the /system/app and /Data/App, nothing there.
So where can the apk files be?

System/app contains all the system apps.
Data/app contains all the apps that you have downloaded or installed.
You need something with right permission to see it. Astro or any other withouth root permission won't work. Try Root Explorer its worth rue money.

Unable to install app

Now this is the the same problem that I am having with lucky patcher like i had with titanium backup. For the info, I am not using this to bypass paid apps but basically to remove ads from free apps and change apps permission. When I opened lucky patcher I was informed of a new update, so I downloaded the update but got the "Out of space" notification.
For the life of me, I am not able to find the odex file and so I can delete it. I am therefore not able to install lucky patcher. Anyone had this problem before. Anyone know where the odex file of lucky patcher is located. Titanium backup has it in data/com.keramidas.titaniumBackup.
Patch itself and remove odex? Worth a try.

Problem is I am not able to install the apk. It gives me an "out of memory" notification. I have cleared dalvik cache and fixed market through recovery.

ihave same problem with other apps trugt that pacher. I cant find where program stores files. I think if we delete this folder its ok.
Please avoid discussing about that app here. I think there's one more soft/app which helps in removing permissions, can't remember its name though.

Install 4.2 Clock and Keyboard?

So Droid-Life posted the flashable zips a few days ago for the JB4.2 clock and keyboard apps. Is there any way to extract the .apk from these zips and install on the RAZR HD XT926? Obviously can't flash them since we don't have custom recovery. Just wondering if there is another way to install them. I actually already have the keyboard from last week but I really want the clock apps.
Thanks,
caseym

unzip and copy over apk and lib to appropriate locations, and set permissions for each. working well for me.
You can just copy them over to the correct locations, look at the updater-script for locations and permissions.
These are included in the Vitreous Rom as well, which can be installed without unlocking your bootloader.

Do you have the problem only with the one specific *.apk or can you install other apk's from file manager?
