I installed CM 7.1 a few days ago and since then my phone has problem charging using the usb cable. When charging thru usb to pc or usb to wall charger, it indicated charging but battery kept draining slowly.
Then I tried a few other roms, including insertcoin 4.4.4, 4.4.6 and ARHD 6.2.1 and the problem persist, even with brightness at ~30%, wifi off. I checked the running apps and it has only a few apps running.
Does any one have the same problem? Can someone help me with this? Thanks.
Edited:
Forgot to mention, when the phone was charging, sometime i would get message "Unable to charge, phone is using more current than the USB cable can deliver. Please turn off phone and close unused apps." when i wasn't using the phone at all.

Do you have another usb cable to try?
If that doesn't work you need to make sure you have the most recent CWR installed, I think the recent one is blue in text. Just go to the Rom Manager app and see if you have the most current recovery flashed onto your phone.
I had this same problem on my old desire with cheap cables bought off ebay. Bought some genuine HTC ones and solved the problem straight away.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App

My cable is the original HTC cable and I tried another cable from Nokia. Same problem. I have a stock 1520 battery and a 1800 cheap battery i bought from ebay. I think my recovery is the most current one, which is 4EX touch.
Is my battery just bad? I realized sometimes it charged up 1~2 % and then started draining.
Overheating
Hi,
I had a similar problem, the phone was plugged but not charging. It was because of a overheating of the battery. In the battery info page, instead of charging it said overheating. I unplugged it, let it cool down, plugged it again and it was charging.
my battery status never said overheating. it indicates charging but the battery level drops. I also realize sometimes the battery level stayed the same for quite a long while but sometimes it drops pretty rapidly. has my battery gone bad or just the rom? any one got an idea?
okay, now i am using Battery Monitor Widget and found that either charging through PC usb or wall charger, the maximum charging current is about 120 mAh. As far as i know, wall charger should be charging at 1000 mAh and pc at 500 mAh.
Can someone tell me what's wrong? and how i can fix it?
Thanks!

You've tried a different cable, so try another charger. If this doesn't fix it then you should try flashing firmware and ROM back to stock and see if the problem persists, if it does then it is probably a hardware fault.
battery level weirdness sensation xe stock ics
I have an issue where the indicated battery level keeps dropping even when the phone is on charge with the original HTC wall charger. I have also tried another wall charger- same outcome. Also getting the message that current draw exceeds charging current. Once or twice phone has shut down due to low battery. But here's the weirdness....I take the battery out, put it back in and 'hey presto' the battery level is fine. It seems the phone only 'thinks' the battery is not charing, but it is. Any ideas as to a solution would be appreciated.
I also have the same problem with HTC Incredible S fake charging pls help thx

First of all this isn't something I'm worried about resolving really I'm just curious if anyone else has come across this and if you have some insight as to why it is doing so.
Ok so I've been running a couple different ROM's recently and it doesn't seem to be specific to any of them it's happening across the board but normally when I plug into say my PC via USB cable it starts to charge and shows some sort of charging animation in the status bar as well as on the lock screen if I've got it set up as such. However I have a particular wall charger that if I plug it into I get no sort of normal indication that I am charging. The only way it shows is if I go into settings>battery and then it will show that I'm charging. I use it daily and it charges my phone without problem. I'm just curious why that one charger does what it is doing. I've used other wall chargers and they show the animations but not this one particular one...
Recently my phone started to only "slow charge" no matter which method I use.
It charges so slowly when using anything other than my computer that it drains the battery.
I also get the notification "Battery is charging slowly due to low electric current of TA/USB connection."
I've tried multiple cord and wall plug in combos, factory reset, using a different battery, and resetting the battery stats with no solution.
The deck in my car used to recognize it as a mass storage device but now says no device found, it still says it is charging however.
This issue came out of no where and it is driving me crazy, does anyone have any other steps I can try to solve this?
Any help would be much appreciated!
My phone is telling me it is slow charging because I am not using the original charger. Sometimes it charges, sometimes it SAYS it's charging when it is not, other times not at all. I entered ##7764726415 in to dialer to access the hidden menu and looked for a "fake battery mode", but I couldn't find any battery settings. I factory reset my phone with no results. Can anyone please help?
First off I would check your Charging cord. If that doesn't help I would highly recommend getting the correct stock charger for your phone. Charging from computer usb ports also will slow charge. I hope this helps
When all I have connected is a charger. No matter what charger I use, be it the charger it came with, another charger, no matter the cable, car charger, etc. It also often slow charges and takes forever to charge. Any advice/help?

Did it ever work? I will assume it did, could be a rouge app, could be a corrupt app, could be a hardware issue,,I would try to trace any recently install apps and uninstall 1 at a time first. Also u could backup everything and do a factory reset, lastly u could try the reset via ruu method for your cid/mid model. If after all that, charging ports are replaceable Just my 2 cents hth.
Yes, it worked fine. This only happened recently. A headphone icon has appeared at the top and I can't get it to go away. I haven't installed any apps recently. The "accessory not supported" message keeps popping up and interrupting what I'm doing. I can't charge it and use it. I'm thinking something is going on with the plug. Perhaps something happened with the pins? I don't know. I'm just really frustrated by this and the slow charging. Not having a separate headphone jack sucks. Also frustrated by the "cannot charge, using too much power" message, despite shutting down every imaginable app I might have running, turning off the screen, etc. I have to turn it completely off to get charging started. OY
I have the same problem i changed the charging board in the phone and still have the same problem.
