Asus factory apps (bloat) on CM10? - Asus Transformer TF700

I want to put the Asus bloat on CM10 (specifically Asus Day Scene and Polaris Office) but can't figure out how to do it. I tried to restore from CleanRom 2.4 but they either never complete the restoration or they don't work once restored.
Any help is appreciated.

Since I updated to ICS the pad shuts down or reboots by itself and then it gets stuck on the Asus splash screen, it happens almost every day. Can anyone help me with a solution please??

Hi r3dp0is0n2012
I think its safe to safe that this is a ICS/Asus problem. I think in every forum about ics the same complain is there.
I had the same. My tf has nvflash capabilities, so after a week or reboots and hanging, I wiped every thing on my TF. Then put a nvlash version honeycomb back. Then installed cwmrecovery of gnufabio and also rooted the pad again. Then flashed/restored a good working revolver rom 3.11.1 cwm backup on my pad (was my own backup before updating) and all works correct again. Last week I updated/cwm-flashed my pad with revolver 4.0.0. rc1 (after just wiping cache and delvik) and its now rather stable. Only have reboot in 2 or 3 days. but real reboots, so no hanging in boot screen. But this means that ICS is still unstable. So, if you have problems and you know how to go back, or have a good backup, use that......or wait for a fix by Asus.
If you need help to go back, let us know all info of your TF pad? what kind, what serial etc etc....and maybe we can help....

Sorry was not around a computer yesterday.....
Impotant is to know what kind of TF you have and serial number.
I have a B50.....so I can use nvflash. What is your serial? do you have CWM installed, or can you check if you have a SBK1 or SBK2 TF. Do you have cwm installed, do you have nandroid backup of honeycomb etc etc.....I have some experience with downgrading, but not regarding the SBK2 TF's. Some say that if you download an older updater op asus (see some where in this q&a where you can download it) then unzip it on your sdcard, reboot and your TF will ask if you want to load this "newer" rom. This is also mentioned somewhere in this q&a. maybe that will help. But 1st of all, to be able to help in downgrade, we need your tech info of your TF.
serial number TF
CWM installed (see app of gnufabio)
nvflash possibitities
EDIT: more bad new about this reboot thing
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1569670
and see this last post in that thread,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25375664&postcount=87
so, nvflash is your only option seem like.....I hope that you have a nvflash compatible TF (B60 and less and some B70....SBK1)
Hello,
Yep news are getting worst...
my serial number is C10 model TF101
I dont know if that helps.

Do you have CWM installed on your TF?

adb backup/restore broken on TF300 4.2.1

We need insecure kernel in order to use that from android. But you should be able to use them from recovery if you set up adb to work in TWRP. If it still doesnt work in TWRP, then you will need to wait until Asus releases its kernel source for 4.2 so twrp team can properly build the recovery.

Wanted to bump this to see if there was any updates.
I just got TF300T as a fathers day gift and tried to use Carbon (now Helium) to backup and restore some app data from a rooted Galaxy Nexus over to a stock (non-rooted) TF300T running the updated JB 4.2.1 software.
I found that the restores would hang up and never complete - so I did some searching and found this thread.
Without unlocking the TF300T, is there any way to get an adb restore function working (Carbon/Helium or otherwise)?
If I do unlock / root the TF300T, does that even fix the issue? It looked like there was development that TWRP needed to do to fix something.
Helium restore does not even work after 4.1.1 downgrade...
Hi, I was hoping that the Helium app data restore problem was somehow only related to 4.2.1 - so I downgraded to WW_epad-user-10.4.2.20 (Android 4.1.1), but exactly the same problem there: the app itself gets restored (I backuped everything before downgrading - apps and data), but after showing 100% - the moment when my other devices start the data restore - the restore hangs and I have to cancel (and restart Helium to restore the next app).
Does anyone have an idea (not sure what the remark about an unsecure kernel really means - I thought this restore mechanism uses some internal Android function)?
Any help appreciated (I just want to keep my Angry Birds scores...).

Anyway I can get my data after a factory reset?

Hi XDA, so I've got a problem here and I'm wondering if you guys could help.
I tried to install the JB 4.2.1. AOSP Rom on my infinity, but it went wrong, got bootloops, and decided to go back to CROMI 3.4.4., and after flashing it on TWRP 2.4.4.0. My tablet couldn't get past the boot screen, so I did a factory reset, re-flashed the rom and it worked, but I thought I had lost all my data when I actually hadn't:
A while ago I was browsing through my files and found a weird "0" folder, I opened it and all my 12GBs of data were there, games, photos, movies, but the tablet was behaving like it came from the factory, there were no games, pics, nothing at all, nothing installed. Except for some Gapps and the apps that came with CROMI.
So now I ask you guys, it there any way I could get my data back? Like, I know it's there, but it just doesn't show up on the tablet, is there any way I could get my apps reinstalled, with their respective data, like it was before the factory reset? Please guys, I'm almost finishing NFS MW, I don't want to go through all of that again lol
Thanks from the start

Did you have any backup?? like from Titanium backup or nandroid or google backup....? if you don't then you have to re install every app again, there is no other way around this. For your game it's possible that after install the game app, you could copy the data back to where it belonged...it may works. IDK, try it.
Nope, no backups... Well, since I've got all my files here I'll just take what I need (some songs, pics, data) and do a full wipe of the internal SD, thanks for the help though, I guess I should do backups from now on

After update to 4.2.1, my tablet runs slow as dirt...

Cold booting seems to make it worse and a regular reboot only makes it run faster for a little while. Any ideas?

The best way to deal with issue like this, is backup your stuff, do a factory reset (twice) then reflash the full Asus firmware. If issue resolved then slowly restore or reinstall your download apps.
I agree with solution. My tablet turned into complete molasis after 4.2.1 update.
I then back up my apps+data and factory reset the tablet.
It erased everything that was on the Internal storage and reset the tablet back to fresh brand-new 4.2.1 state.
Things are running much better now.
Wish I had backed up the files I had in the Pictures and Videos folders of Internal Storage that were lost in the reset, but oh well.
If you have a rooted tablet and you do the factory reset will you keep root? (not unlocked or able to get to recovery, just rooted with rootkeeper installed as well).

Yes it should. However, if you lose root on JB, not a problem anymore. This tool can root your device while on JB http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2230763 , remeber to uninstall any left over root before using the tool.

It is possible if you follow the process properly but you can root 4.2.1, so if OTA root keeper dont work you can still root.

TF700t running slow fix
I'm at 4.2.1 and experienced all the issues that have been document here and elsewhere. I was on the verge of trying to put in a one of the third party ROMs, but decided to give the factory reset a chance. Backed up the data using the Asus app to my microSD and removed it. Did the three time reset recommended and on the third try went through the setup. All my old apps were captured from the Play Store and then I installed the program/data backup on top of that. So far the tablet is now working without the long lags in using Chrome or just typing this reply. One of the games I backed-up was restored to the current game point. I would highly recommend doing the Factory Reset option (recommended is three times) to see if you can recover some of the speed in the tablet. Mine did and given I invested in the keyboard, I was not interested in making the move to say the Samsung Tab Pro and the expense involved.

Yes you have just cleaned you /data partition. It will eventually come back and without unlocking and installing a rom that supports trim there is not much you can do......

Thanks for the inside info. I'll keep an eye on it and if it reverts, I'll go to plan B and install a new ROM. So there are no tools like a defrag for SSD that you fix the problem in Android other than through the ROM? Seems like it would be something that would be very useful.

There are yes - lagfix on the play store will trim the file system. You need to be rooted though.

[Q] Keyboard issues with my Transformer Infinity

I have unlocked, and loaded the latest version of CROMI-x on my Transformer. I like it but I have come across one problem. I have noticed that most of the keys at the top of my keyboard dock no longer function. They are (wifi, bluetooth, mousepad, any of the brightness settings, browser, settings, and mute). I do not believe that was the case before the upgrade but I am not sure. My questions are as follows:
1. Does anyone know of this as an issue? and if so, is there a solution?
2. To test this further, I would like to load the latest stock ROM onto the machine but before I do, I want to make sure I am doing things correctly so as to not brick the device. Can I simply download the stock ROM from somewhere (Do you know where?) and flash it the same way I did CROMI-x? Or is there something else I need to do first?
3. Is there a something I might of missed during the install of CROMI-x that might have solved this issue?
I also have a completely separate question regarding returning the device as close to factory reset as possible. I understand that once I have unlocked the device it is never going to be able to be locked again. Is there a process that I can go through which will bring it as close as possible to a factory reset as possible? If so, can someone point me to the procedures?
Thanks

A few others have seen this problem. Try reflashing the rom first using the stock kernel to test it with that. Does redocking fix it at all? Which soft keyboard are you using? This can have an affect on how the keyboard keys work. I use the included Keyboard Manager with the ROM and always set it to ASUS Keyboard when docked, try that if you don't have it set as well.

And to answer your other questions; Just download the latest firmware from the Asus support/download site, unzip it once and flash it in TWRP.
You will loose your custom recovery and all your data.
But IMO that would be a shameful thing to do - like crippling a race horse...
If you want to sell it, anybody who knows anything about this tablet would pay just as much or more for it with CROMi-X installed......

Thanks. I will retry to flash my original backup (prior to CROMI-x) and see if it works. I tried redocking and it had no effect. If you are referring to the ASUS Keyboard as the soft keyboard, I believe I am using it. I looked in settings and it appears to be so. Interestingly, the Keyboard Manager doesn't show up in my visible applications.

Thanks. I really don't want to go back to stock if I don't have to. It is good to hear that it would still be salable with the custom ROM on it. Is there a way to keep CROMi-X but at the same time reset the machine so that all my applications and data are wiped clean except for CROMi-X, TWRP, and the folder with backups and ROMs?
Separately, To fix my issue that I have mentioned above, would it be better to wipe the system, applications, and data prior to installing CROMi-X? Would that possibly fix the problem. If so, how can I do that without loosing the folder with my ROMs and my backup files? Would my applications just re-download after turning on wifi?

To erase all your data just do a "Format Data" in TWRP and then reflash CROMI-X. The rom installer writes some files to /data which will get wiped, so re-flashing the rom is advisable.
If you come from stock, yes - it would be a good idea to wipe your Data partition. A 'Factory Reset' in TWRP should do the trick. That will leave your /data/media folder where all your files are untouched.
You can use Titanium Backup to backup your apps and their data and restore those after a Factory Reset. But do not restore any system data.
You do have everything on your tablet you care about backed up somewhere anyway, don't you??!
Data not backed up is data not yet lost..
