Hi,
I'm not developer so I'm asking You Devs:
Can anyone make a ICS ROM the way MIUI did?
Try a different approach?
What I mean is to get an ICS almost AOSP but still based on HTC rom with "bits" of Sense (camera app, keyboard etc.) as it is in MIUI v4.
Especially that most of you work on JB now.
Is this possible?
Would that not be similar to using a sense rom with a custom launcher (Nova, apex...)?
Using Nova (currently in use on MIUI) solve only the launcher problem, you still have Phone, People apps to go and these are the parts of ICS that should be in.
ICS theme for MIUI is nice... yeah.. MIUI on my DS lags after 1-3 days of using it and only clearing Dalvik cache helps.
MIUI weekly updates is must do every Friday. BTW MIUI Message app won't work in horizontal

never had system ui error, but Titanium Backup pro FC all the time (that's just annoying).

I am getting this phone as an upgrade for my sister and was wondering which ROM people are recommending? Had the Desire before and that was running CM so something snappy would be ideal
CM,Hydrogen,Miui in that order
For senese roms try vrtuouse unity, lbc
For sense use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1230029
I am using Virtuous Unity beta right now. It is super smooth. De finately check it out if you want Sense 3.0 rom.

I tested a lot of custom roms. i recomand lbc saga 0.6.0. the custom cm adapted for desire s has a lot of bugs...
The best and smooth rom that i ve used was virtuous 2.3.5
I tried MIUI and hydrogen but they always fc com.android.phone
I recommend this ROM: CyanogenMod 7.1 RC1 (v1.0.2) By: NeoLojik
It is very fast and stable. And if you like sense icons, there is a sense-theme at xda.
Well I'm not asking for the best roms but, just some roms that you think are good for the mytouch 4g. I really do like the style of the ics but it is still in beta version (for the mytouch 4g) and I would rather just wait until the majority of the bugs have been fixed. There are just so many roms I really don't know which ones to pick from. I've tried the Cm7 but I had some problems with the mms on it unfortunately. SO i had to get rid of it.
But anyway. Does anyone have some suggestions on some roms that they like on their mytouch 4g? I don't really know which ones to pick from thanks.
and please provide a link to the roms download page as well, if you can.
thank you
Lol you want us to download it and put it on your phone too?
Try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1283682
Its Derek's 3.5 Runnymede based sense ROM. Sense handles MMS the best (IMO).
There is a link in that thread somewhere for a small mms fix. Happy hunting for that one.

Virtuous Unity 2.39
But here's what you do:
1. Ensure you have the latest Gingerbread radio
2. Do a full wipe and install Virtuous Unity
2. Download Root Explorer
3. Download GO Launcher EX
4. Set Go Launcher as the default launcher
5. Using Root Explorer, remove all Sense, widgets, themes, and other bloat you don't need from /data/app AND /system/app.
You will now have the fastest, and most stable ROM available.
I second both those 2 answers but since you tried CM7, you could now try some sense ROMs like Darkside 4 or Unity, then perhaps MiUI.
Currently running CM7.2 and liking it. Love Darkside Sense too. VUnity and Affinity are good as well, for starters ...Liked MIUI too ...
I might suggest another way to clean up for Sense ROMs is to use ROMCleaner, which is handy ...
For all your linking needs.

Out of curiosity, what changed between 7.1.1 and Nightly 252 that makes all that much difference?

I've been running VU for months and have exceptional battery life. Can easily get through an entire day without needing to recharge.
Alternatively, if you just want to remove all sense components, give this a try:

Darkside
I flashed darkside sense 4 for a weeks now and am happy with the performance, plus all of the additions on top of sense and stock android
I second that about creamed glacier. Keep an eye on it, it keeps getting better fast. I'm using v7 right now

I've been looking for something like this for a long time!
THANKS!
is ICS good enough to be a daily driver though? Other than the camera problems, are there random reboots or music playback problems? I have ICS on my Samsung Vibrant and am thinking about jumping ship to the mytouch/panache for the extra 256mb of RAM...
worth it?
edit: meant to be a reply to post #13... dunno how to quote a post after the fact
Wait a few days here, there is a giant update coming out soon with the camera working and various bug fixes. But I get relatively few crashes. Some of which I'm sure are because of my beta nova launcher.

if op is correct it works on all ics 4.0 based roms that arent miui.. a launcher works on stock or custom roms
yes working gr8 in ICS rom only , tested in Desire S and Xperia Neo V.
Nice and thanks
Launcher vs ROM
If you haven't tried MIUI yet I'd recommend it!
If nothing else just to get a feel for something other than sense, or stock ics
But while you're on it, why not try the real deal?
Right now they're into ICS (what a shocker!), but Desire S is still GB.
I don't think we will ever see an official ICS MIUI build to DS.
Not one coming from miuiandroid.com, that is... (thx proxuser!)
You can still download the last Gingerbread MIUI (2.4.20):
http://miuiandroid.com/community/threads/miui-2-4-20-roms-ics-gb.16252/
It's a tad old (20/4) but it works lika a charm! (way better than all the miui-ics roms i've tried)
Rumors tell me Xiaomi will realease one last GB rom but they haven't announced a date yet.

Heey xda people.
In a few days I am receiving my One S.
I have seen the stock ROM and by my opinion it is full with bloat-ware.
I would like to flash it with a good clean-andorid (ICS or Jellybean) rom.
Do you have any suggestions or recommendations ? I would be happy to hear that.
Thnx in advance.

MIUI Sense based... All MIUI functionality whit some Sense applications (like camera and gallery)...very good Rom.

If you're into sense
1. Venom sense ( this rom offered tweaks to your liking and customized icons...mostly everything, but still 100% sense)
2. Miui Sense (fast as ASOP, but you get sense camera and gallery and 100% customizable. You can changed anything to your liking). Update are every fridays...(Rebecca Black) LOL
3.Axioms S-less ( a strip down version of sense to get ASOP feeling)
JellyBean
MIUI Jellybean

Dear friends,
I've been using Fallout rom for a while now but I decided to try a Sense 3.5 rom since they run more stable and faster than most ICS roms.
First I tried Endymion and later Energy rom. However with both roms I get a lot of crashes and I can't figure out why. Sense 3.6 roms run fine.
The crashes with Sense 3.5 also happen whilst the nothing is installed. How can I find out what's crashing my phone?
AW: Lots of crashes when using a Sense 3.5 rom
If they keep crashing, why do you still think they're more stable?
I was on endy before this, planing on going back after doing a test with reaper. Never had any crashes/reboot. I could only think of bad download/install as the cause if no app was installed/restored.
You probably didn't flash the boot.img and are still using the stock kernel.

Coming from fallout it wouldn't even have booted on the previous kernel, so that can't be the issue.
Have you changed any oc/uv settings?

I flashed the right boot.img and did clean installs (wipe data/cache) and haven't touched oc/uv settings. It also seems to happen more often when I'm multitasking e.g. Listening to music and browsing.

Good one. One would expect the gingerbread roms to be more stable but not on my phone. I like the gingerbread speed and they're more battery friendly than ICS roms in my experience.

R: Lots of crashes when using a Sense 3.5 rom
As far as I know, now ICS ROMs and JB ROMs are far more stable that GB ones. I am using Flinny's CM10.1 build 12 ROM daily without any issue, and I saw that Desire XS is pretty fast, maybe as fast as GB ROMs. Except for personal taste I see no point to stick around with GB ROMs.
desire xs is a great ROM ,, GB does not stand a chance!
