[Q] Bad battery?? Tests performed.. - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

So ive mentioned this before, but never was i as sure as i am now, since i tested wt 3 other one x's and i seem to be the one having this issue. My phone usually takes 3+ hours to charge while not in use or completely turned off, sometimes even 4 hours, but thats not the wierd part. The wierdness of this is, from 1% to 80% my phone charges normally and sometimes in about a hour and a half, maybe even in an hour (super fast) but from 81% to 100% it can take anywhere between an hour or as long as 3 full hours...... Ive tried every ROM available for the one xl and all kernels too, not to mention various setups, battery saving methods, etc... And the issue still presists. I tried with my aunt's unrooted 2.20 one xl, a friend's rooted one xl running sense and my neighbor's rooted one xl running cm10 and all 3 charged normally in about 2 hours or 2 hours and a half and charging never slowed down from 1 - 100%, it was constant and normal... Mine charged faster than all 3 one xl's from 1% to 70ish %, but as expected they all hit 100% long before mine even reaches 90%... Ive tried calibrating my battery, charging with the phone completely off, charging while in recovery, charging with a pc, charging underclocked at 1ghz and all processes and apps closed and in deep sleep, etc...... Could this be a bad battery or something battery related? Aside from charging, my phone gives me an average of 12-16 hours before i have to plug it in with moderate usage and about 3-4 hours of on screen time, so the battery seems fine while in use, the bad part is only when charging... Any help/opinion/suggestion is welcome. Thanks in advanced!

That's the same for me. I'm pretty sure that when you have low battery the phone gives you a "fast charge". But the last bit takes a long time.

[Q] charging times??

just wondering how long other peoples phones are taking to charge? mine seems to be taking unusually long im at about 2.5 to 3 hours and still at 87%?
It should take some hours to charge. Mine never seems to go over 500mA/Hr charge rate. So, if you have a 1500mA/Hr battery, the FASTEST possible would be 3 hours. (1500mA/500mA)
Now, the charge circuit will not charge at the max the whole time, so it should take longer than 3 hours. This assumes your max charge current is less than 500mA.

this was weird, it was first time fully charging phone...i restarted it and now it says 100%???

Not sure what you mean exactly...What is weird, exactly? What was the initial charge, the final charge, and the time taken?

It takes me eight hours to get to 4.2 volts

What is your battery capacity?
Matt
it was stuck in the 80% range for several hours so i thought i would try rebooting the phone... upon reboot, it was magically at 100% even though it said 87% before i shut the phone down and pulled out the charger cable... I have been reading another thread in the Q & A about other people having this issue especially when the phone is new... could have something to do with the battery calibration since it has only gone through one charge cycle so far so maybe it was confused about what "100%" voltages were... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1201474&highlight=battery is the thread where my exact problems are described

Battery behaving wierd!!

Hi all, i have SNS just few day old, the wierd problem with it is that no matter what ROM i am on, the battery stays good with consistent discharge pattern till around 30%-35% after that it just nose-dives and goes to zero within 45 min... i have done everything i know like tested different roms, with/without any apps, JB, CM9, ICS, GB, everything behaves same. I also tried to calibrate the battery by 3-4 charge discharge cycles, removed battery stats, but still it persists.
While charging back from 0% it charges rapidly till 30%, much faster than normal, also sometimes if its at 20% and i remove the charger, after 5 min it would show 22%!! i dunno what to do now... Anyone has any idea?
I'm no expert but that does sound like your battery is crap... how long does it last on a full charge? Does it get especially hot or something? I mean if it were a software issue, the power would go somewhere and that's either display or CPU, with a battery drain like that your phone should be glowing and steaming after 45 min.
I hope I helped a bit at least ... Good luck!
Well no, i dont think heat is an issue... even when it dips from 35% to 5% it does not heat up... when charged, during the night too i get 5-6% battery drain which i assume is ok... it lasts around 15-16 hrs till 35% so thats kinda ok i guess but after that it just goes haywire... no clue... i tried to calibrate many times but it just does not get better...

In that case swapping ROMs/kernels won't help. I suggest you get a new battery, but that's just my opinion. A drop like that in such a short time without the device getting hot is definitely not normal
Any one know where can i find a genuine battery who would ship internationally?
But why wont the battery discharge gradually? lets say even if its bad say 1200 1300 mah it should discharge faster than the normal one but atleast at a gradual rate and not suddenly like it does on mine... even after calibration??!!

[Q] Battery life varies when charged with phone off...

So, this is strange, but I'm finally starting to get a view on things:
I have 2 batteries for my Desire S. Both should be in good to perfect state. I tested them before I unlocked and started using custom roms; I could get 2 days out of both.
Ever since I unlocked and started trying out new roms, battery life has been acting very, very strange.
When charging regularly, with the phone on, battery life looks good at first (it stays at 100% for hours), and then all of a sudden starts dropping sharply. I can get only 16-18 hours with very little use when this happens
If I charge my phone while it is turned off (well, in recovery, since there's no way to charge it while truly off), my battery seems to get its proper life: it easily lasts 2 days, i managed 65 hours before.
This goes in cycles and diminishes over several cycles: after the 65 hour depletion, the next charge when on, is slightly worse, after 2 or 3 it gets to a really bad state. Charging it while off "resets" this and I get the full 65 hours again.
What the hell is going on here ? I've used a variety of Cm10 roms (Flinny, Pac-man, blindndumb's... last one is my current). Don't tell me I'm actually recalibrating my battery every 4 days...

[Q] Battery crash?

Hello,
I bought this phone a month ago. At first the battery lasted quite well, I got around 5 hours of screen time with battery life to spare. Unfortunately, about 2 weeks ago I accidentally left the phone under my pillow and fell asleep on it- causing it to overheat a tad bit (I woke up 3 hours later and it was very warm to the touch and had turned off). After charging it up, I continued to use it normally but noticed that the battery would drain a little bit quicker than normal. Before I could easily go around 10 hours with heavy use and have 40% battery left, now after 10 hours it's left with about 15-20%. I am a heavy user but I haven't properly checked how much screen time I'm getting now, however I'll update that later.
As for the main problem- last night I charged my phone before sleeping (100%) and when I woke up in the morning it was turned off. I turned it on only to see that my battery had drained to 0% while on standby all night- whereas overnight I usually only lose around 2-3% battery.
After charging my phone up for 15 minutes- the battery level again returned to 100%. I only charge my phone through my laptop via USB. What happened here? Is my battery deteriorating? Should I get the phone replaced? I would appreciate any input on the matter. Thanks.
Also I've attached the screenshots showing how my battery died and how it was quickly restored. Can someone explain this occurrence?

Your sudden battery drop has nothing to do with what happened before.
Several people already mentioned this sudden battery drop as you can read in this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2545553 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2678909
No reason to return your device, its a know issue.
Drain your battery completly then charge your phone to 100%, turn the phone one and leave it to charge a hour more. Essentialy you have to recalibrate your battery.
So a brief update regarding SOT.
I left home with 90% charge this morning. Used the phone for 8 hours and it went down to 20% - granted, with heavy use.
Got 4.5 hours of SOT. Is this about average? imo I feel like this falls a bit below average. Ill check other threads as well and compare, but as far as I know, I feel like I should be getting a *little* more juice out of my phone. Data connection was on throughout, and some games were played and pictures taken.
Anyone else feel like they're getting sub-par use out of their battery?
*screenshots provided.
- checked the other threads, looks like ~5 hrs SOT is the most this phone puts out?
Same here.
Are there any news from Motorola?

Note 10+ battery drain

I've had this phone for two weeks now and the past few days every time I charge it to 100 it instantly drops to 99 after 2-3min of use. I'm not running any heavy programs either if I just have the screen on it will drop. In the screenshot below I had 13min of use and it went down to 98. Is this happening to anyone else? I don't have power saver mode on.

Well, if the phone is 100.0000000, the instant you turn it on it is less than that, correct?

It shouldn't drop 2 percent in 13min should it if the screen is just on?

I'll check it out next time I charge the phone.
Seems to be just about right
If you're not getting good enough screen on time and did factory resets already, try reflashing the system. It worked for me.
Mine does the same exact thing. My note 9 never had this issue and I'm only seeing 3 to 3 1/2 hours on screen time..
My samsung SM-N975U battery averages 1d 0h 0m (19h 50m 0s active usage) on a single charge.
My note 10+ goes from 100 to 97 in about 5 minutes. Current situation -
upload
The last thing I'll complain about is going from 100% to 97% in 5 minutes with this type of battery life.
I am in a situation where it feels like its draining faster then it should, but Im also using it more than I should, so I dont know if a phone issue or a me issue. Im gonna do a reset to see if the results remind.
I realized that the Secret for obtaining high amounts of battery life (screen in time) is if you consistently use the phone.I found that I can easily get 10 hours if I'm constantly using the phone to the point where the screen is on for 10 hours. The second I put the phone to sleep and I don't use it as much is when I start heading 6 to 8 hours of screen on time. It's weird how they've implemented this but,
I now just use my device without even concerning myself with the battery life for screen on time because it doesn't really matter. In the back of my mind I know I could get 10 hours if I actually spent that amount of time on my device with the screen on. When it comes to regular usage 6-8 hours on a device that lasts a day and a half sometimes almost 2 days I don't think it's anything to complain about
The problem is that your phone like mine must have came with 4300 or less mAh ... Most likely less ... Mine has 4280 mAh I am very pissed at Samsung for that since my hauwei p30 pro phone have almost 4800 mAh so it spends 8 hours in 100 percent until it starts to decrease the battery that is why so many fear hauwei I guess it was my first phone from then and it's amazing how it is superior to anything I have ever seen before ...
Ya me too how solve battery drain issues
I have a issue with regards to the battery where if the battery is reaches 10% , then from 10 to 0% drains within 1min. Any idea how to fix this or issue with the battery?
