Watching 1080p video on a 1280x800 screen is like trying to listen to 5.1 audio out of your phone speaker. Pointless.
As for 720p, use Dice player. Works flawlessly for me on CM10 @ 1.4Ghz.
Regards.

for 720p also try moboplayer, works great with subs also...im with the same rom like you!

It all depends on how it was encoded. Mostly the profile used, I believe the XOOM supports upto 4.1 or 4.0. But profile doesn't mean jack in my opinion since it's just info on how it was encoded, what is important is the way it was encoded. Also I believe it has strict limits on the numbers of --ref frames it can play back, I say 4 or 6 max and it also can't play in 10bit. That explanation was pretty basic...

[Q] Why does 720p flash videos still stutter on my Xoom?

I just got the 3.1 upgrade on my wifi Xoom. I then downloaded the 10.3 flash player, but still when I play 720p Youtube videos, my Xoom will stutters so bad, that the videos are unwatchable. I thought these updates would have fixed the problems. Am I the only one like this or does everyone's xoom stutter on HD youtube videos? My Xoom is stock and unrooted.
Are you watching them in browser? Why? I haven't tried that, but i will try when i get home and let you know.
HD videos in Youtube app play just fine on my device.
I was just about to post something about my video play back. When I first got my xoom. I come watch Tekzilla and Hak 5 HD versions of the show. Now its like watching a scratch dvd but the audio is great. I'm stock as well but not updated to 3.1. I hope someone can help...
weird. Its super smooth for me.
Is your net connection stable?

speedtest.net...
Report your speed then if sufficient, troubleshooting can begin. If you're trying 720p on 1.5Mbps/384kbps dsl then you will get crappy performance.
I guess the videos that play aren't necessarily Youtube videos, but Flash videos.
For example...try playing this video on your xoom:
http://www.flashvideofactory.com/test/DEMO720_Heima_h264_500K.html
Mine stutters, the audio sounds ok.
It plays fine on my PC.
Speedtest on my Xoom is 12937 Down and 10935 Up...it definitely isn't a speed problem.

This stutters on my work desktop computer also, so i'm not expecting it to work on my Xoom, but i will try when i get home.
I admit, this computer is old: Win XP on AMD Athlon 2800+, 1GB RAM, ATI Radeon 9800 graphics.
I can't play that video on a dual core 2.66 ghz laptop, with 4gb RAM and a 50Mbps downstream connection.
I'm not going to hold out hope for my Xoom on that.
it stated that it isn't optimized for mobile viewing.
I tested http://www.flashvideofactory.com/tes...h264_500K.html video on my Xoom now and it doesn't play good. It plays about the same as my work computer did.
I also tested a random 720p Youtube video in full screen (on Facebook). It played just fine, without any problems.
FYI: WIFI only Xoom (US) Android 3.1 and Flash 10.3

Playing high resolution video?

Which is the best player to view video in high resolution without to convert them or stuff like that!
I already overclocked it on 1.5 GHz but i can not play 1280x720 videos fluently!
I heard that the SGS 2 can play 1920 fluently out of the box, dont know if its true!
I'm currently on 3.0.1! Is there a difference on 3.1?
Hi oaz1,
Did you make high profile video work OK now? I am also very interested to make at least 720p high profile video work on my Xoom.
Have you tried Tiamat Kernel with both CPU and GPU overclock? Are you using software or hardware video decoding?
FYI, I am running stock 3.2 image.

I've been using mx video player. It plays 720p files without a problem.
Buy dice player...
Install Mobo Player and QQ Player, and then buy Dice Player, it plays high profile 720p H264 without a hitch. You can also use XenonMKV to convert the audio in your high profile videos (without re-encoding video) and play them back in the stock player without issues. Takes about 15 minutes to convert and rebuild a 2 hour movie on my laptop, video is untouched in the process. I did that once, but it's much easier (and well worth the ~$5) to buy Dice Player.

[Q] Is it possible to run full HD movies on XOOM?

I am running eos 2 right now. I have tried a few players such as Dice Player and MX Player but none of them are able to run full HD movies.
it's always choppy...
is there anyway to run full HD movies on XOOM?
thanks
what do you mean by "full hd"? 1080p mkv? How large is the movie file?
the file is around 2gb...and it's choppy when I run it on xoom. but when I run it on my gtab it runs just fine...

I've recently had some success with BS Player and a recent beta version of VLC (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1517415 - although the download link has been removed - apparently due to copyright issues). Both these players were able to play HD content that all of the other players I tried could not. If you haven't tried them, it is worth a shot.
for MKV or AVI, i recommend DicePlayer, for MP4, go with MVideoPlayer of MXVideoPlayer.
I have tried Dice Player MX Player but none of them are able to play Full HD MP4 format movies.
I am trying to see if I can get VLC to try on my Xoom.
Running HD movies are fine but Full HD movies.
Dice player won't even see it. MX player able to see it but runs so choppy. BS player doesn't want to run it. It opens then close immediately...
Can you guys confirmed running a full hd movie instead of just hd movie?
thank you
a full hd movie at only 2gb? I convert 1080p mkv blu rays all the time. they range from 4 to 10gb. i convert them using dvdcatalyst, after conversion, they shrink to about 1.5 to 2.5gb. It is now in MP4 format. i have never had a problem playing them with mxvideplayer.
From what I understand, the xoom can't play to full 1080 definition, just 720.... I have had issues with choppiness myself but, overclocking to 1408 has always taken care of it for me. I prefer Dice too.

so overclocking it to 1408 solves the choppiness problem when running full 1080 or it solves just the 720?
thanks

I have been able to run 720 just fine on my xoom at 1000 if that is all I am doing. When I am running a couple background apps, or downloading a big file it can get a bit choppy, so I bump it up to 1408. I usually just go for 720 movies since the files are smaller (and I don't really care as long as the picture is good.) I have ran one movie that was 1080, I did it with a 1408 overclock and didn't notice any choppiness, just the usual bad acting by Mark Wahlberg.
I have upped the CPU to 1408 but it still doesn't run the 1080 mp4 movie smoothly.
I even try to bump it to 16xx something.. still the same result. this without running anything in the background.
is it really stuck at 720 no 1080 for xoom?
This is one of the most frequently asked questions in this forum. Search is your friend.
The Xoom cannot play high profile 1080p, but can play low profile. This is due to the lack of NEON instructions in the tegra 2 CPU.

[Q] HD video playback

Hi, I got te g2x for almost 2 months now, and now I got a hdmi cable and thought about playing some HD and Full HD videos on my TV.
Im my current rom (SINGH-UI) and player (BS-player) only HD .mp4 videos play nice, mkv plays with some problems, and cant play 1080p videos at all.
Anyone know of a good combination of rom+kernel+player that can play 1080p videos? or at least mkv HD?
Thank you very much, and sorry if it has been asked before, I did a search but not found all the answers.

I use MX Player on any ROM I use, no issues. Use software decoding, uncheck deiinterlace, and set CPU to use from default to 2.
Thanks, will try that and edit the results
Also is the pro version worth it?
Edit: Now I can play Mkv perfectly thanks =), but some 720p and 1080p mp4 still gets laggy/desincronized some times.

I don't use pro. The free edition does everything I need from a video player. Sometimes just play with the settings and you can get a video to play correctly.
So it's better, same, or worse?
Ahh its definitely better, will play with the settings a bit and see what may chance.
Thanks for the help

[Q] (SOLVED) Choppy video JB (parandroid/slim/etc)

After installing JB on Rogers Infuse 4G all mp4, avi video is unplayable, too choppy and stuttering. Works perfect on GB roms. Was looking around and could not find a fix for it (something to do with memory usage? as per Galaxy S forum). Any ideas?
SOLVED..
after reflashing a few other roms -> one has to remove external sd during flash, this seems to fix playback (flash and mx player etc.) problems. Thanx all for help.

Any Custom Rom <> stock GB have choppy video is a bug sorry, try another ROM.
Just a swag - have you tried putting the video on your internal memory instead of external sd?
I usually play streaming video (eg. TV series online). Any custom GB rom I tried has perfect picture, any ICS or JB rom is unwatchable. Could somebody suggest a JB rom that has verified good video playback on Infuse?
I have never had a problem watching videos on any GB/ICS/JB ROM...video playback has always been flawless whether it was a YouTube video or streaming from another site...or a downloaded HD movie...they've all played flawlessly....now videos I record while on JB/ICS that's I different story...but everyone knows about that...
If you don't mind...can you link me to a video you find unplayable on jb? I'm curious as to see if my infuse will play it...

Any video on watchseries.eu will be impossible to watch. Which jb rom do you use?

Ok so hopefully clears this up. For movies that you download, you can get mx player from the app store, that thing plays EVERYTHING. and flawlessly too. so there get that. If u want to watchseries.eu or online streaming sites, u need flash player, so download this guy http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1705503 and get version 3.0.3 This version contain flash player, which u'll need to watch stuff like that and yourtvseri.es etc.
For recording, just use 480p, cause 720p is broken on jb. good luck dude.
