Hello all,
I don't know if it's possible, but I'm looking for some way to get a qwerty layout on the stock Froyo IME while using the french dictionary.
I've come to like the stock IME since Froyo, even getting to the point of uninstalling the HTC IME on my N1. I love the concept of easily switching input languages by swiping across the spacebar.
Unfortunately, in Canada, typists use the QWERTY layout, even when typing in french, as opposed to users in France, who use the AZERTY layout.
I would love to get any information on to whether or not this is possible.
Thanks!
Hey guys,
The x10 that I had had Chinese, Japanese, and Korean locale. It's Ericsson keyboard also had Chinese, Japanese, and Korean input.
However the Sensation only has the English and Spanish locale. The HTC keyboard also doesn't have Chinese, Japanese, or Korean input method. This really sucks because now I don't have a way to type Chinese/Japanese/Korean. (I dont want to download another keyboard. I like the HTC keyboard.)
There are many android phones in China/Japan/Korea which means obviously there are Chinese/Japanese/Korean local for android so does anyone know how I can get this ? Also HTC is Taiwanese so I'm SURE that HTC's keyboard has Chinese input. They also have HTC in Japan and Korea so I think HTC would provide Japanese/Korean input on the HTC keyboard instead of making the people download a separate Japanese/Korean keyboard. Does anyone know how I can get these input methods onto my HTC keyboard ?
Thanks,
d
Did you try this?
MoreLocale 2
oh ok cool thanks.
what about the input method ? does anyone know how to get the other input methods on the HTC keyboard ?
You are out of luck with Japanese, but most ROMs come with pinying and zhu in as options on the bottom of the list. Is your Sensation stock? Try downloading Google Pinyin from the market. I think that adds it as an option for the HTC keyboard.
Sent from my HTC Sensation
I use GO Keyboard for my Japanese fix. I'm pretty sure you can add Korean to it as well.
Sent from my HTC Sensation
so theres no way to get chinese/korean/japanese input with the HTC keyboard even though HTC has phones out with chinese/korean/japanese input on the HTC keyboard in other markets ?
Hi there!
I just got a HTC Sensation phone and quickly rooted it and installed Android revolution hd rom with gingerbread 2.3.5 and sense 3.5 and everything works perfectly!
I was wondering if it was possible to have a french canadian keyboard. It seems to have international language but if I select french, I only have a azerty keyboard. The options are to have a qwerty keyboard with english prediction or azerty keyboard with french prediction and I would really like to have a qwerty keyboard with french prediction.
I hope my post isn't to hard to understand...Sorry for my not so good english and thanks a lot for your help and answers!
You can try another keyboard from the market, do some research on those and see?
I already had swiftkey x in the past and it works well.
I was just asking 'cause I like htc stock keyboard. It's not really important and if it's impossible or too hard, well, I can live with swiftkey
So no one can answer why french canadian (or english canadian) keyboard are not available in many custom roms ?
There are like 100 type of keyboards and CM7 has it for my phone, same with CM9 for my Touchpad.
Is there any way to make the stock android keyboard work with Romanian? It doesn't have Romanian characters, no spell check, but LG keyboard, sense keyboard and all 3 party keyboards have them...
Any way to make it?
Anyway to have romanian language and dictionary on stock Android keyboard?
There is no Romanian stock keyboard. Google didn't bother to implement one.

Hi all!
I've been running ICS from the beginning of it's official release, but flashed the US-version instead of the european one.
No problem so far, but I have the wrong dock-keyboard-layout (QWERTY instead of QWERTZ).
Then I found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1144204
But where can I find the layout for the german/austrian layout? Could anybody please upload it for me (path to the files should be /system/usr/keylayout and
/system/usr/xt9/keylayout; it's mentioned in the other thread)?
Thanks in advance,
LB115
If you are familiar with the QWERTZ layout, simply go to your language and input settings and select the ASUS German QWERTZ layout.
Your keys will be mapped to the new layout, but the pretty little stickers on them will still be for a different version.
I have a US keyboard, but setting it to ASUS English (UK) allows me to get to the £ symbol and the @ and " are reversed from what is physically on the keys, but it is the standard for UK English.
I have also used the ASUS Spanish keyboard settings with the US Keyboard with no issues.
If you are using any other setting (for instance Thumb Keyboard) for when you are undocked, it will revert to the ASUS English (US) layout regardless which version of the keyboard you have.
Thanks, but when using the Transformer without the dock I have the QWERTZ-layout. Only when using the dock I get the QWERTY one. My system language is German, all keyboard settings too, the dock is a german one...
EDIT: ok, it's working now. I only changed the default keyboard (Android keyboard+ instead of Android keyboard). Thanks for your help!
Hi, I've got the same problem, running FROZN 1.0.9 rom. But there is no other keyboard available than the android keyboard. Do I have to insall another one to get the qwertz layout for my dock?
Thanks for replies!
EDIT: Found Android Keyboard+ in this Post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1528322&highlight=qwertz , then I did like Lunchbox115 and it's working now
