I love how i had second post saying thanks and for everyone to request this as a sticky, and it was deleted.

This should be sticky'd. :good:
HellFire 2.4
Hey ALL! I signed up just to say this. I have been rooting and flashing custom roms for a while now. I can't give ALL devs enough credit for all there great work. I my self have the T-Mobile G2x. Stock was great but when i started flashing it opened up a whole new world for me. Now for the important part. Two days ago i flashed the new HellFire 2.4 rom, and its FANTASTIC!! It is by far the BEST rom for the G2x in my opinion. Especially since its using Faux's newest kernel. HellFire 2.3 had some issues with the battery overheating so i switched to a tweaked CM7 rom and flashed Faux's kernel to it. But it seams that the great guys in Hell have fixed the problem in v2.4 and the rom SCREAMS! IF YOU HAVE A G2X AND YOU DONT WANNA SETTLE FOR THE STOCK 2.0 ROM ANY LONGER I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HELLFIRE 2.4!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! SEE YOU ALL IN HELL!!!!

CyanogenMod CM7
Why is there no links to the latest CyanogenMod CM7 Roms in the current Rom list.
Contrary to most of the other listed Roms these are still updated (monthly) and seem to work quite well..

I didn't include it because most people like to have threads to go by with their ROMs they use. I guess I could add it.

Thanks, I have experienced as a newcomer that threads like yours with the various ROMs, kernels etc. listed are very helpfull.
I just thought it odd that one of the basic ROMs and one that still gets updates is not mentioned much in the G2x threads.

Honestly it depends on what you want.
If your trying everything out to see whats best for you, then I would say
1. Cyanogenmod 9
2.WP7 Android (based on miui)
3. Peter Alfonso
4. oICS (this has crazy amount of dev time by a famous dev, try it. It's what I run, but might switch to CM9, just because it's CM9!. Not without trying out WP7 though
Now, compare my grammar to the guy that posted before me; who do you think knows more about what they're talking about?

This rom and kernel is doing wonders for me. 5 stars, would recommend to a friend.
I need advice on which build to download of ICS? I had the original Cyanogenmod9 but the music and camera features were too buggy. I am having trouble finding the updated build for it. I also need the latest GAPP files as well. Can you someone help me out?
There's a few different threads on this. You need to READ, your previous two posts in this forum were useless as well, had you read then you wouldn't have needed to post.
There's plenty out there, but one that I don't recommend for now is EaglesBlood. It's a great first build, but it still has its bugs.

Why is that? Eaglesblood was running fine for me. Had it for 3 days but I needed better battery life so I went back to cm7

Some recommendations
You can find a link to the 2/15 ics gapps in this thread:

On the ICS ROM's I recommend Hellfire Sandwich v1.2. Have been using this as a daily driver for a little while and no problems. Look here:
HellFire Sandwich v 1.2 p999 4.03(Facebook Sync )22512
One other suggestion, please learn to to use the search functions. The links above are very easy to find.

Having tried it, I also share this sentiment.
Personally staying on a gb rom until a source gets released.

Ya same here, loving the hard work our devs put out to make ics more stable every day. But I just can't get rid of this Hellfire Phoenix rom, its been an unforgettably stable (perfect) rom since the beginning.
Really greatful to doniccq too since he taught xohellox to dev for the g2x, and his eaglesblood rom is equally as great.

Hey everyone, I didn't know if I should post this here or the development section. But I was looking for another ROM to flash and really like the ZTR but the server must be down because I keep getting a 404 error. Does anyone know if there's a mirror link some where? In not I guess I'll look for another ROM. currently I'm on Caty 3.0
Thanks for any help

Dman Took down ZTR. If you search you will find it Just google it.
Sent from my Nook tablet running MiUi 2.2.3 Alpha (GB 2.3.7) Rom useing XDA premium.
Just my opinion... I really love all of Dman's work but I would suggest trying Aeon or emancipation...
I've used both
Both of those roms are still supported, etc.... not to mention with entropy dropping a new kernel (hdmi support etc) the newer roms will probably suit your needs better going forward...
Just my 2 cents...
Here's a link to ZTR http://www.mediafire.com/?te7qg9cthr8hds3
This is true we had to become our own support with ZTR and even had to make our own themes. I will always keep a backup of my ZTR ICS themed ROM . But I am currently on another becuase of the support it gets.

I made it well clear before ztr was released that there would be no support for it due to I build for the note now... hard to support a device you don't build for...that's why it was a final release...
Bigs Rom, very nice build.
I suggest you put AEON v1.3 by Bigfau. Really super excellent Rom and seems like everything is working great, very fast too.

As a G2X user, I was very happy to root and go to CM7.1.0.1. I have always preferred stock Android to anything bloated or UI'd. While not a power user, I do like the customization options that CM makes available. I have also been eagerly awaiting ICS builds for the phone. Which leads me to my question:
Which build(s) would you recommend trying? Any of the ones below not fit the description? I don't mind trying multiple builds, I just don't want to go down any rabbit holes unnecessarily.
EB 4.0.3 (CM based)
EB 4.0.4 (AOSP)
AOKP
Last question - and it may be a dumb one: Do I need any specific kernel, or does it flash w/ the ROM? After CM7, I went to faux123 so I could OC...
TIA

That's just using my phone and the app, on a computer I can find 5-10 threads. Just search ics in general & Q/A, read the threads a little.

I'm personally fond of AOKP with the customizations it has and I'm not having many issues with it, always flash the latest OC version of harshes kernels also
Sent from my LG-P999
Hellfire sandwich or AOKP.. and both with harsh kernel is the way to go
Eb 4.0.4 aosp
I am having great luck the EB 4.0.4. Only issue is the Wifi calling is a bit wonky at times. No bloat and few customizations. Very different from CM7 but fast and smooth.
I started out on CM7.1.0.1 then moved to EB 4.0.3 (CM based) before making the switch to EB 4.0.4 (AOSP) Currently on their 2.5 build.
I really liked all the options that CM7 had built into it but I was more interested in getting ICS loaded up on my phone. With EB 4.0.3 (CM based) you do retain many of the things that you had with CM7 but I found it a little buggy for my liking.
Though you do lose some of the built in CM7 tweaks using EB's AOSP ROM, it seems to run much smoother. And in the end you can still do a lot with apps.
Suggestion? Turn into a nutter and try them all
I see that people are using the Trinity Kernel for this build (CM10). I used the Trinity Kernal with the CM9 build and was very happy with it. I want to use it with this build but I'm not sure which kernel to use. There are the 4GS kernels for ICS and then there are Galaxy Nexus kernels for JB. Which ones am I supposed to use. I would reply to the build thread but I don't have enough posts to post in the Nexus S 4g Development Thread. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
Jb and ics kernels aren't cross compatible. If a kernel does not specifically indicate that it is built for jb/4.1 on Ns/4g, don't flash. With that being said, ns kernels will often work on ns4g but they must still be built for the android version you are running. Check out the dev section for available kernels, there are currently 3 jb kernels (2my knowledge) built for the ns4g. Don't hesitate to try them all I'm order to determine which works best for your device.

Thanks for the response. So even thought the Trinity site says that would be for the Galaxy Nexus it would still work? The way it lists them is as follows.
ICS Kernels (Android 4.0)
Galaxy Nexus (All)
Nexus S (All)
SGS3 (TMO/ATT)
JB Kernels (Android 4.1)
Galaxy Nexus (all)
The Seven
Now with that being said are you suggesting that I use the GN Kernel since it's for JB.
Again thank you for your help with this.

Don't do that. The GNex kernels are not for the Nexus S. In the Trinity thread there was a NS kernel released (very basic) a few pages back. Morfic is working on a new release that will work on the NS4g/jellybean. Just be patient, will be worth the wait.
Edit: just released test version ...
