[Q] Unlocked Nexus One Question - General Questions and Answers

I recently bought a factory reconditioned unlocked nexus one with Android v2.3.4.
In the fastboot window, I don't see the unlocked notice altho when I start it it shows an
unlocked Padlock which I have to drag to the right to get to my home page.
I installed the UniversalAndroidroot-1.6.2-beta5.apk
but installing the root and superuser failed
Can anyone offer some advice
Thanks,
Chuck

There are many ways to root. For example, SuperOneClick and UnlockRoot.
Just google "Nexus One 2.3.4 root" and you should get a very clear answer

Try to reboot couple times, make sure the message is legit. If it is, unlock means your phone is unlock (bootloader unlocked), which means you could flash custom rom/kernel etc... It's a good thing for people who like to play with custom rom.
Well...thats for my girl who doesnt want any custom rom and dont want to have any extra signs. My note 2 from att has a custom rom and doesnt show any signs on boot. Is this lock for verizon only? Thanks for reply.

The unlocked icon means that the boot loader is unlocked. This is what show up on all Verizon smartphones that have the boot loader unblocked. This is actually a good thing as it will allow you to use a custom ROM, set root privileges, and delete the garbarge-ware that is included on you phone that you probably will never use.

No on the s3 if the boot loader is unlocked the initial screen with only Samsung will flash very quickly.
If it boots and the Samsung shows and has an unlocked lock that says custom under it, then you have a modified system WITH A LOCKED BOOT LOADER. By unlocking the boot loader this will go away.
I have no idea what the lock with unlocked under it means; however if you're sortied about it OP go into the development thread and follow droidstyle's guide to restore it back to bone stock.

Sounds more likely about sim card. I flashed the phone back to stock because it was freezing all the time then did factory reset and its asking for activation. Tried to activate at the store and it doesnt activate...freezing up after couple min. So i guess it is something to do with sim unlock?

It means there is custom software on the phone, but the bootloader is NOT unlocked.
The custom software could be as simple as having Root access, or it could be a full custom ROM. You have two options to make it go away:
1) Unlock your Bootloader
2) Return to fully stock. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1867253

Can't unlock bootloader for my HTC One S

Hi,
I'm having issues trying to unlock the bootloader for my One S. I know that you have to go to htcdev to unlock it but even after going through all the steps my bootloader will stay locked.
Just to be clear, I've managed to go through all steps and get my phone to ask whether I want to unlock the bootloader, after clicking yes my phone just turns off. When I go into the bootloader it says locked.
I should also mention that I bought this phone off eBay from a seller who had rooted, s-off and unlocked the bootloader previously. The seller unrooted, s-on and locked the bootloader when they decided to sell the phone. They also mentioned that they installed an official HTC European Rom when rooted.
Any help would be appreciated as I would like to root my phone.
Thanks

Can anyone help? I was hoping after a week or so that someone would be able to give some suggestions. I've searched through the forums and not found anyone that has the same issue as me. I'm gussing this is a rare problem that no-one has encountered or been able to solve.

Unlocked bootloader?

Hi I'm new to the gs3 forum but I think I have unlocked the bootloader. When I got the phone I rooted it right away and then tried to install twrp not knowing that the phone had the 4.3 update problem. .. so the phone did brick then I Odined back to stock but still had root and when I rebooted the phone after installing safestrap and on the Samsung boot screen it shows an unlocked lock (which in the gnex means bootloader is unlocked) but I'm to afraid to text it.
Can anyone confirm if this is what I think it is. Unlocked bootloader.

It isn't.
That unlocked padlock basically means "something not stock is installed in the phone".

[Q] Droid ultra root.

Hello all please help me. I have looked thru all the treads and I have found nothing that will help me. I have tried all methods of rooting that are listed and have not yet found one that will help. with the exception of using adb shell. I have never had to use this to root. as stated in title I have a droid ultra. version 24.3.7 obake_verizon, 4.4.4, Kernel 3.4.42-g845377b-00002-ge8e2fe0, build number SU6-7. my phone can not be found by rsd. I have searched for hours thru many forums and I have found nothing that can get this thing to root. I do have my unlock code but not another sim to test it. If this has been asked before I do apologize after searching for so long I got lost on where I have and have not looked. if you know of where it is posted just reply with the link and ill try it. if I have to use adb then I will have to learn but with the help of other members I have always been able to have a rooted phone. So MANY thanks to all that have helped me in the past. Thank you in advance.
1. Unlock your phone
2. Install TWRP custom recovery
3. Reboot into recovery and tell it to install SU when it asks
That's it. It will require you using adb at least to unlock. After that you should be able to do the rest from the phone.

just curious, where did you get your unlock code?
Simunlock.net teerout

ok, you have a sim unlock code. that should allow you to take the phone from one carrier to another (vzw -> att) that will not reflect on your ability to root your device. carrier (sim) unlock and root/ bootloader unlock are separate.
and with 4.4.4 on your droid, your stuck with me and the others with no root.
Teerout I wanted to add that I got the Sim unlock from there. I have not unlocked the boot loader. As of yet. Hope to accomplish in the am

Sorry for the last post. It Did not update your comment. I guess I will be buying another phone or waiting.

If you paid for a sim unlock code, I'm afraid you wasted your money. The phone is already sim unlocked (all Verizon phones are).
