[Q] Soft keys ? - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

Okay, I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this. I'll be directing my question towards the Samsung Galaxy S, international version.
Is there a flashable zip or anything like that I can do to get the home, back and menu tab on the screen. It may be ROM integrated too, not a problem.
Don't be critical for asking "is this possible...." question please, I'm probably more pissed than you. I have my exams and my as$ hole friend considers this as a priority + he can't post on his own :banghead:

You probably want to confirm the model before flashing anything. This forum is for the T959V Galaxy S 4G, which is likely a different phone than your friend has. It is a different phone than the T959 as well.
What they are asking for is an ICS feature and should be available in most ICS ROMs as a setting.

He will let me know tomorrow by then this thread might be moved !
I feel so stupid and embarrassed

All is forgiven! It's not even your phone. What your friend is asking for is a "stock" ICS feature, I believe.

International version of Galaxy S is SGS i9000. It has Samsung logo on upper side, and back and menu soft keys on lower side surrounding a physical rectangle button.
This forum is for SGH-T959v A.K.A T-mobile SGS 4G, originally distributed only in the US. It is a completely different phone, having T-mobile logo on upper side and Samsung logo on lower side with 4 soft keys.
Instead of radio receiver it has 4G capabilities.
I'd search for the SGS i9000 forums instead.

You're right, it's I9000. Thanx and sorry once again

[Q] I need your opinion!

Hello all,
I'm currently using the samsung vibrant and I'm about to pick up a new phone tomorrow. I know everything there is to know about the vibrant aside from JTAG operations. the phone has been outstanding and reliable from the beginning to end. I post this because I wonder what you guys feel about your sensation... always was an HTC fan but if I were to get the Galaxy S 4g then I would be right at home. They are very hard to actually brick and that is what I love most. So how's the sensation?? you guys get alot of bricks on this device? I've been doing some research and this phone looks amazing with some of the custom roms and themes I've seen so far. I really want to get it because of its highly updated processor. But how dangerous is it to flash custom roms and what not?
I appreciate your input
I switched from a captivate I know exactly what your saying but it looks alot more complicated then it is if you follow the instructions and guides properly you will be ok. Overall I love this phone its amazing and great support on here for it

yeah sad to say.... the vibrant is dying.... at least that is what it seems like. Cant seem to get a solid gingerbread rom going although they are getting close. I read some lines from a rom thread that shows how to turn your sensation into the XE version... is that what you did? or is there really a better version out there? lol I have no idea
Yea I did that the developers name is Mike and he is sick. His rom android revolution is unreal

I switched from the g2x and the sensation is very easy to root if you follow the guide exactly. It is also the best phone available in my opinion.

Well if the choice is between the Galaxy S4 and the Sensation... that's easy. Sensation! Not even close.
If you are a huge Sammy fan you might want to delay and compare the Hercules with the Sensation.
Decision was made, you guys were right, this phone is a beast. Within 2 days I already flashed ARHD 3.6.0 and I'm very impressed. Thanks to all

sensation & sensation 4g

every now and then i see people saying "this rom is compatible with the sensation and sensation 4g" do is there really two different sensations and if there is, could someone put a pic of both of them in the comments cause i dont undersatnd the difference
They are the same thing.
I think it just means that if you have a T-Mobile 4g that you will get the wifi calling and other T-Mobile specific apps. And if the rom detects that you don't then it won't install those apps. But I'm not sure.

International Sensation vs T-Mobile US Sensation 4G. US version has different radio that operates on the "4G" band that T-Mobile uses. Not really any hardware difference other than an additional antenna for TMOUS. Some ROMs may only have support for the international version, others may only support US version. Most ROMs support both though.

All roms work on either phone but tmous stock roms have extra apps which are network specific like wifi calling. If anything it's only a users choice of radio that makes any meaningful difference to compatibility.

Thanks guys I just figured out cause when I posted on CSA at the bottom is said "sensation 4g" , well it did unroll I rooted

Turn 4G into XE (physicaly)

Hi!
Maybe it sounds stupid but.. is it possible to turn a S4G into a SXE, I mean.. physicaly? I searched on Google and all I found is turn a 4g into a xe virtually by a arhd (that already runs on my sensation).
What I want to know is if I buy a SXE digitizer and SXE battery door, will both of these parts work? I guess the battery door surely will but the digitizer part makes me doubt...
Also sorry if it already has been answered, the search function doesnt seem to work on my Raider...
Thankfully,
ideaL.

It might be possible. But you have to use the same model of digitizer that came with your phone or you will get problems.
There is a thread you.can look at for more info about this under the accesories section. So if the XE digitizer is the same model i think it should be able to work.

Galaxy S 2 feature port

Galaxy S2 have this feature where you slide on a number to the right and it calls the number or slide to the left and it opens sms/mms with the number.
I know sensation has the best Devs, theme experts and pretty good mod gurus.
My request is if above galaxy feature can be port to sensation
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio 4G
This is a feature on most Touch-wiz phones I think - I have it on my Galaxy Blaze. It is a nifty feature and would be welcome.
I second this request
Bumping this and will try and get some dev attention ;-)
Could be tricky, probably better off finding an app in the market to replace your texting app, though if somebody would like to try it, it would welcome

Generally with branding you will find that there is a boot animation with the providers logo.
Other than that they often install extra applications on the phone. I know more had a separate category down the bottom of the app menu called Vodafone.

Also, easiest way to tell is based on where to got the device. The carriers normally tag the phone somewhere in the physical device. But previous poster is correct as well, carries usually load their own bloat junk on the device. Easiest way to tell.
Side note: if you never unlocked the phone yourself and can go from SIM to SIM then its a manufacture unlocked device that's never been branded

I did some searching on this topic and it seems here on xda this was discussed in January. Here was the conclusion. Branded devices will have carrier logos on the device itself, unbranded devices will have no such logos. I hope I helped answer your question. Also I learned my device is in fact branded because it had T-Mobilelogo on the left side ,so I also learned something ! Best wishes to you!
Hope this was helpful.
