[Q] I need your opinion! - HTC Sensation

Hello all,
I'm currently using the samsung vibrant and I'm about to pick up a new phone tomorrow. I know everything there is to know about the vibrant aside from JTAG operations. the phone has been outstanding and reliable from the beginning to end. I post this because I wonder what you guys feel about your sensation... always was an HTC fan but if I were to get the Galaxy S 4g then I would be right at home. They are very hard to actually brick and that is what I love most. So how's the sensation?? you guys get alot of bricks on this device? I've been doing some research and this phone looks amazing with some of the custom roms and themes I've seen so far. I really want to get it because of its highly updated processor. But how dangerous is it to flash custom roms and what not?
I appreciate your input

I switched from a captivate I know exactly what your saying but it looks alot more complicated then it is if you follow the instructions and guides properly you will be ok. Overall I love this phone its amazing and great support on here for it

yeah sad to say.... the vibrant is dying.... at least that is what it seems like. Cant seem to get a solid gingerbread rom going although they are getting close. I read some lines from a rom thread that shows how to turn your sensation into the XE version... is that what you did? or is there really a better version out there? lol I have no idea

Yea I did that the developers name is Mike and he is sick. His rom android revolution is unreal

I switched from the g2x and the sensation is very easy to root if you follow the guide exactly. It is also the best phone available in my opinion.
Sent from my HTC Sensation z710e using XDA App

Well if the choice is between the Galaxy S4 and the Sensation... that's easy. Sensation! Not even close.
If you are a huge Sammy fan you might want to delay and compare the Hercules with the Sensation.

Decision was made, you guys were right, this phone is a beast. Within 2 days I already flashed ARHD 3.6.0 and I'm very impressed. Thanks to all

New to sensation!

Just got the sensation to replace my LG G2x and first thing on the list of things to do is ROOT! I plan on following the stickie on this forum to do it so wish me luck! I switched from Verizon using a thunderbolt so I feel right back at home with this phone!
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using Tapatalk
welcome to the sensation "thing" lol. Atleast there are more people getting the sensation even though there are new phones coming out.
Welcome...i'm also new in here...
Good choice with htc sensation,you won't regret...belive me...cheers
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using XDA App
yeah its a lot lighter than the Thunderbolt but its the same phone! I just love it! I haven't rooted yet and am freaking out. I always feel so overwhelmed when i look at the whole step by step process because i look at the whole picture instead of the little steps....AHHHHH
Welcome aboard, enjoy your great new device, and happy flashing!
Welcome dude!! Before u purchase senny, did u do all the research first and read xda? If yes, then good for you. If not, then dont feel regret later!! and please dont compare it to SGS2..thanks

Consider MIUI for Sensation! It's pretty awesome!!

I also came to the Senny from the G2x. It's a much better phone. Rooting is really not hard at all.

Keep an eye on coredroid. And careful flashing

Gotta ask - Why do you need to root? Have you even tried to use the phone as it is?
I always root my phones....just something I have always done.

One reason for root : Adfree

Great phone! Until the GN is released which will replace my Sensation. Happy flashing!!!!
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using xda premium
One more reason for root: it's YOUR phone. Welcome back home.
I run Android Revolution HD v 4.1.x
Sense 3.5 interface - If for no other reason, Root so you get Sense 3.5.
Cant get sense 3.5 on Sensation without Root (yet).
In my opinion, 3.5 is a big step up from v3.
Keep on rooting boys !!
Just got myself a sensation as well. Coming from a line of samsungs, most recently the sgs4g. Man there are so many options with this phone as compared to the sgs4g.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
many reasons for rooting: speed and awaken 3D and 2D gaming power!!
was really upset with stock sensation XE.
But ARHD ROM (Cool), Amaze Cam Mod, Bricked kernel 1.5r1 beta 1(fixed 3D & 2D issues and no freeze cam after applying Camfix) and ARHD Radio....
It's A Superior Master Piece!!!!
I don't mind stock I just loved my titanium back up and can't have it unless I'm rooted. Still haven't done it yet....still overwhelmed lol
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using Tapatalk
lets just say, all the fun stuff happens when its rooted
I love amaze cam. And also titanium backup and Mybackup are reasons to root. i couldnt imagine a phone without my backups

I prefer Android Revolution HD (i'm on 6.5.1, will try 6.5.2 later today), InsertCoin also worked like a charm on my device. At the end it's personal preference I think. But look at the number of replies on the ARHD thread, it shows how active the Android Revolution team and the community is. The support is amazing. I love it.
I am using elegancia rom, arhd is simple rom where u must add every think by yourself, elegancia have everything built in, and also is beautifle. Aaaand also u can chose some options in instalation like oc kernel (better cpu, like 1,5 or 1,7 instead 1,2). Give it a try, i wont be dissapointed.
Sent from my HTC Sensation using xda premium
IC is by far the smoothest and it gets updated at least 2 times per week. ARHD is good too but I always return to IC! Try them and choose the one that fits your needs
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using xda premium
+1 for Android Revolution The support is mega, thats what i love more than anything.
Fair enough you may have to add modds / tweaks yourself, But thats because not everyone wants a ton of mods n stuff, Some people just want a stock looking custom ROM.
IMO its better than having them all built into the ROM and having to dissect it to remove the stuff you dont want..
But the main thing is personal preference.... There is not better / worse ROM

I must agree with that, u must try it for u self and decide. Unless there is a rom, wich is very, very, very bad, but talking about all main roms, u must decide for u self.
Thanks guys. I'm going to try each one of these roms that has been mentioned.. What I'm looking for is something that looks good, has very good battery life and is fast. First one I'm going to try is InsertCoin. Is there any good asop roms floating about.. I used to use Oxygen Rom on the HTC Desire S.
Thanks for the replys there very helpfull.

all roms are same only themser, mods, kernels, which you can flash so its pity to compare peoples work but i bet they all are same cos based on same leak
I really love insertcoin roms... Really good stuff
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using Tapatalk
I'll look into that one... Green time lol I tryed Prime 5 yesterday. It was perfect for me but the only thing that made me change my Rom was because the GPS didn't work at all... It's a shame because I really liked Prime 5.

Beats audio

Is it true that sense 3.6 with beats audio offers better music is all.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA
Some people love beats audio, some do not. its just a matter of personal preference. You can try it and see if you like it or not. It's a matter of personal choice. Hope this helps
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
Beats Audio definitely makes your music sound more crisp and enhances bass. I am in love with it. It has spoiled me to be honest. I am a huge Prog fan and Beats Audio just gives so much more depth to every song!

The difference between "Beats" and say a normal Sensation is not huge. The volume levels between Sensation and Sensation XE are slightly different though.
Best way to experience the difference between regular and beats is to run the mudhi beats mod. There are four preset equalizer settings included:
normal
dolby (same as srs)
srs (same as dolby)
beats
(and multiple music type presets)
The difference between "normal" and "beats" is hardly anything to be noticed...
Now, here is why Beats sounds so much different on an XE rom or true beats port. The XE only has two preset equalizer settings:
normal
beats
What htc fails to mention in those settings is that "normal" is actually using srs processing. The s-curves are different between the two, but the srs also provides more of a flat sound enhancing all ranges. This is why there is a dramatic difference between "normal" and "beats".
In the end Beats is really more of a marketing gimmick than anything, and the true quality of the music is mostly determined by what headset you are using...
I'm sorry for seeming like maybe a **** and not saying thank you I was just learning and I'm still learning how this all works so please just bare with me.thanks and I appreciate all your help. Takecsre!!!

I'm not sure where you think you seemed like a ****, but I don't think apologies are in order.
use dsp manager and set your music to your own liking based on whatever headset you have. i had beats with my beats headset thought it was cool until i tried dsp manager. i like taking control of my sounds and not some preset by someone who thinks they're a sound engineer.

I'm sorry for what I said in your other thread, was just a bit pissed.
Anyway beats audio gives music a 3d-like effect and also a bass boost. To get the full effect make sure you have a good set of headphones ( not ****ty apple ones ).

Well i think you need some good headphones to notice the difference because honestly i use iphones headphones and when i turn on/off i dont see a difference at all...

Yeah. It's nice to see your appreciation but I've opened a thread like this and it for closed and I was told to use the thanks button instead. I've seen it happen to several threads like this.
Also even if you had enough posts you definitely shoupdnt have posted this in the dev section.

Nexus S is a good phone, but I wouldn't do it. I don't like AOSP that much to take a downgrade on hardware. Also I've no use for the Infuse, so I wouldn't really care to fix it.
