Hey all. I haven't messed much with my phone since shortly after the HOX was released. Im still running Android 4.0.3, and build 1.88. Can anyone point me to what is the most popular ROM out right now? Also, what's the current build and how can i update to it?? I dont use my phone for much more than a phone, so battery life and fast performance is what's important to me. Any help and or instructions would be great!
These threads aren't actually allowed. There is no "best rom".
Having said that, you need to ask yourself whether you like the HTC sense interface.
If you do, CleanROM and viper are probably the most popular. I personally like CleanROM.

What is the current alternative to HTC Sense?? And what is the latest build??
Dunno. I don't venture into those parts. There are 2 development forums. One for sense bases roms and one for completely original roms. I guess cm10 would be something original.
Have a look around for yourself.

This thread will get locked soon, so the best thing for you to do is go to the Development section and start reading. All you need to know is there.
As already stated, if you want to know which ROM is best for you, go to the development section and do your homework. Flash ROMs until you find the one that best suits your needs. "Best ROM" threads are not permitted.

have an amazing Rom in the Desire HD section.
Seeing as not everyone browses that section of xda, I recommend any and all to flash away and see for yourself.
This one is definitely too good to pass up..
Best Battery Life / Fast / Stable

We all know about it. But its old news. Most of the community including the developers who worked on this rom have moved on to ics. Do love how amazingly stable this rom was but after tasting ics I can't make myself go back to a gingerbread rom

Last time they updated the Rom was last month.
May be old news for some but like I mentioned not everyone visits the Desire HD section.
Gingerbread is just too perfect in terms in overall usability.
One day I might jump ship to ICS, but its just not my time yet as BlackIce is Rom perfection

Yes, I didnt need to flash the InspireMod on BlackIce.
If you have issues definitely look to the InspireMod as mentioned above however.

Sorry for the confusion. It's hard to pickup on sarcasm. Lol
Agreed..
Anyways, it's a solid rom.
I alter between AOSP and Sense very often, so on this side, BlackIce along with some tweaks of myself has been my preferred choice.
Rock on mate

best custom Rom for desire s till date??
Wrong forum - should be in "Q&A"
Wrong question - read first, get a feeling from the dev threads and from other people's comments.
Finally - try some out for yourself. You will see very clearly that the two recommended ROMs are always Endymion (if you want Sense) or Reaper (If you want no Sense and the fastest ROM around), but the only ay to see which is best is to try them out yourself.

There's a plethora of similar threads asking the same question. I'm sure they popped up when you were creating this thread. But meh... why not create a new one just for fun??
haahaa good old enigmaamit, i knew you'd be here, but seriously if you were to get an answer for this, people might list a range of different roms that all have bugs in them, the best stable roms are endymion and reaper, purely because they're fast and bugless

No opinion threads, flash different ones and see what's best for you. Also, this wouldn't even be the right section. This thread will probably be closed soon. Happy flashing!
Do you want customization?
Do you want stability?
Do you like sense or stock ics/jb?
Find out what you want in a Rom first. Each Rom here caters best to somebody.
Make a backup of what you have and flash away. Go back to what you had if you don't like what you install. That's the fun part.

1. Yes.
2. Yes.
3. Stock JB
I want slick, fast, and fun customization all the way form changing the boot logo sound to customizing the animation, and beyon dth at, a lot of good tweaks etc.
There is no "best" ROM. Everyone has different preferences, and uses their phones differently. Its like asking people what their favorite color is. They can give you an answer what they like. But it has absolutely no bearing on whether you will like it or not.
"Best ROM" threads are frowned upon here. This thread will be closed.

Hello all,
Been out of the game for a while, but with the S3, and the horrible OTA update that killed the S3, I'm back.
Did the root & recovery via this method: LINK
Now, I am looking for a ROM, thinking of just going with pure stock, without bloatware BS. What is the favorite, stable ROM out these days? (Just reading up on all of them now, just looking for overall favorites these days.)
If by stock, you mean TW, then there's no 4.2.1. If you mean AOSP (truly not bloated at all), it's currently in 4.2.2. So I'm confused on what you want. I can't comment in TW ROMs, because I strongly prefer AOSP, but if you want AOSP, I'd go with LiquidSmooth personally. SlimROM is also great, as is Paranoid Android.

Because of the question. The fact is that while we can recommend you a ROM we can't guarantee that you will get the same experience that we did. Which is why moderators encourage us to try the ROMs out ourselves.
"Thread closed as "Best" rom for one user is not necessarily the "Best" for another.
Users are encouraged to read and determine what is best for them by reading the knowledge shared via posting.
These threads always spiral into arguments about one rom over another, and thus, trolling ensues.
Please do not post "Best Rom" threads." or even favorite

I never expected any guarantee. As its the General section and it even says 'tips'... I figured asking what people like, currently, would be a good way to look for a ROM so I can read the info and the user feedback in the ROM thread.
Kinda sad users can't get other users opinions for ROMs.
Oh well.

My advice to you for AOSP is to test the ROM based on what you're looking for in a ROM. Also after reading your post since you are not asking for help in choosing a ROM I don't think they close this thread only if you flat out ask us to help you pick a ROM.

THX! I will try to port to HTC J Z321E, but I want to know the kernel can use 4.1.1 (3.4.10) ?
Great! Can anyone extract the radio and make a flashable zip?
Yes I was also curious whether a 3.4.1.0 kernel will work. ShowP had an excellent kernel that works for One S sense jelly bean 4.1.1 anyone try using it here?

You need a 4.2.2 Sense kernel. Anything else won't work without modifications.

I was using the radio, adsp, wcnss, and rcdata on cm10.2 for few days. I found my 3g much less reliable than on 1.13 or 1.15. Anyone else tested?
I can upload it this weekend if no one does beforr

Just to thank you...
I pressed "Thanks" button. But who would say it's enough for someone who gave my One S a second life ?
About a week ago, I was pretty sure we'll get stuck on JB 4.1 with that good old Sense 4. That was good for me. I liked the phone for what it is. I liked stock ROM, even if the dark AOSP look and feel would have better suited my theme, but at least, everything worked fine. Our device has great battery life, makes marvellous pictures, brings a good sound for calls. I once was a flashoholic, but that was before. Always unlocking, modding, installing new things, with those bugs and missing functions... but I grew up since that time. I can't afford having an half working device anymore, so I calmed down.
I was stuck in the idea what I had was enough. Especially when I saw those useless threads about Sense 5 upgrade, which would come, then not, and recome, but in fact not... Boring and pathetic. And you brought another light of hope. YOU had that leak... You had the Grail. You gave it to us, Maximus HD is a great ROM, I've tried it for a day before you release the dump. It was night and day comparing Sense 4.I feel my phone is complete now. But I like vanilla flavour, so I've build a stock ROM for to fit my needs. You gave us another great gift.
Just a last time, thank you.
I did not get one thing. is this a leak of original hos rom to come or port from a different device?
It's a rom fully fonctionnal, but I think HTC will never release it, it's only for us flashmaniacs
But I wonder why the hell no one is using this 100% working rom as base, to bring us sense 5 with some tweaks ?

Because of the firmware update you have to do that's why us devs are trying to fix up our ports we have one bug left and it would be the equivalent of labs Rom
Sent from my HTC One S using Tapatalk 2
OK thanks, that mean with this new firmware some devs tools or other things about developping aren't good for now. Anyway, if everything has been resized and ported to One S, that's a good news
There always tends to be small bugs with the ports... Major ones tend to get fixed... But small ones overlooked or persist for a while. For example I could never get the htc media link to work from the ports (although maybe newer updates could fix that). And some may find a benefit in the firmware update too. But to each their own. Its just good to see dev still working on our One S... Im just waiting for custom kernels to get a bit better on either ports or this one... Always love what ShowP's kernel based Mpdecision does to battery life.

Thanks but what I ask is if this rom is orginally developed for HOS or is it a port made by some other devs. I had a glimpse from your post that it is coming from HTC but just want to make sure it is because all the other sense 5 roms derives from evita afaik.
