[SOLVED]
HI, i need help restoring my IMEI back on my phone
Quick summary:
dropped my phone
IMEI is unknown
efs pro didn't back up my efs file - only back up that i have is one that i copied and pasted to my pc
Flashed back to stock rom - didn't restore my IMEI
Background:
a while back i my phone fell and the battery pooped out and i couldn't make any calls and such. after a while i learned that it didn't have an IMEI and i searched to find a solution.
soon after i did, i found this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1358498 and it worked.
after that i used efs pro version 1.4.7.0 to back up my efs file which contains my EMEI number (for those who don't know).
i clicked to save it to both my sdcard and my pc
Current problem:
my phone fell and its battery popped out just like the first time and again its IMEI number was unknown. i then went to restore it using efs pro but it seemed that it didn't save it to my pc or my sdcard.
I used helmdall one-click to restore to stock rom but the IMEI is still unknown.
the first time i rooted my phone the guide i used said to copy my efs file from my phone and pasting it to my pc using usb mass storage.
i still have that file but idk what to do with it.
Can anyone please help me?
I GOT MY IMEI BACK!
I went back to stock rom using the link in my first post then i turned my phone off, took the battery out, didn't plug any power into my phone, then i held the power button for a few seconds and let it sit for 20 min without the battery or usb cable plugged in and when i turned it on i had my IMEI back
hope this will help someone one day

NOTE:I HAVE SUCCESSFULLY UPDATED 3 OTHER SAMSUNG FOCUS CELL PHONES AS WELL AS DOWNGRADED/FLASHED BACK TO ROM 7004 WITH NO PROBLEMS-SO IDK WUTS UP WITH THIS PHONE
I TRIED TO FLASH ROM BUILD 7004-BUT DURING THE PROCESS THE DOWNLOAD SCREEN ON MY CELL PHONE WENT BLANK.
I REMOVED THE BATTERY & WAITED FOR APPROX 5 MINUTES. THEN REINSERTED IT. ATTEMPTED POWERING UP & FELT VIBRATION BUT NO SCREEN DISPLAY. TRIED TO FIND RESTORE BACKUP ON ZUNE, BUT WOULDN'T LET ME RESTORE FROM ZUNE. ALSO COULDN'T FIND BACKED UP PKS FILE EITHER ON WP7 BACK UP TOOL--TRIED TO RETRIEVE FROM ARCHIVED FILE; BUT KEPT POSTING UNSUCCESSFUL LOAD OF ARCHIVED FILE. (also tried charging battery overnight, as well as used fully charged battery from 1 of my other samsung focus phones that are MANGOED already-but no luck either.)
I WAS ABLE TO OBTAIN DOWNLOAD MODE WITHOUT SCREEN DISPLAY & I
REATTEMPTED FLASHING ROM BUILD 7004--THIS TIME THE PHONE WENT COMPLETELY DEAD DURING THE ROM FLASHING; RECEIVED FAILED FLASH MESSAGE & NOW THE PHONE WILL NOT TURN ON, WILL NOT SOFT OR HARD RESET, WILL NOT GO INTO RECOVERY MODE, OR GO INTO DOWNLOAD MODE!!
ANY SUGGESTIONS--WILL A JIG POSSIBLY WORK?? ANY INPUT WOULD BE APPRECIATED!
I'm not sure a jig is going to help. But I guess your only possibilities are trying a jig or RMA. If you want to make a jig, read this post I wrote.
Good luck!

Hi all,
I bought the GS2 two weeks ago, did nothing but rooting it, stayed with the original gingerbread OS.
A few days ago i noticed i had no reception, i tried turning airplane mode on, and then off (to restart the connection), but the phone got stuck in airplane mode.
I restarted the phone a couple of times, but it didn't work - still was stuck in airplane mode. I eventually decided to factory reset it.
After doing this the phone was not in airplane mode anymore, but it had no service (a circle with a cross line is appearing in the top right corner).
The really strange thing is that i have no imei number, no wifi or BT mac (when entering the 'about' section in the settings menu).
It looks like the phone still thinks it stuck in flight mode.
I tried looking in the efs dir, and noticed that the files nv_data.bin, nv_core.bin, their md5's and the nv_state files, all were renamed (now starting with a dot, hidden files).
I tried removing the dots from the beginning of the file names, I tried reinstalling the original ROM... nothing helps. I have no backup of the efs dir, before the problem appeared.
I don't know how really flight mode works, but it looks like the process handling it got stuck while entering flight mode, leaving the files in this strange state. Maybe there is a 'flight mode flag' in one of the files, telling the phone it is not allowed to access the files regarding the imei, wifi and BT identifiers.
It is worth mentioning that when i start using the wifi, the wifi mac updates and appears - the same would have happened if the phone was in airplane mode.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
sami
Sorry I don't know but I have *exactly* the same problem and symptoms starting on 7th Aug after 3 months of use. I didn't even root. You're not alone. I think it needs to go back to the shop.
I have the exact same problem. Did anyone find a solution to this?
Never heard about this problem before, but I have a couple of suggestions:
1. Try to power off the phone, remove the SIM card and battery, wait for a minute, insert them and power on the phone.
2. Try to wipe cache and dalvik cache.
3. Try to install a different ROM with full wipe.
Mobile Network Unavaible
Good evening friends!
I am facing a strange problem with my Galaxy S II. Last night I was using the Rom Criskello, and everything was working fine. So I decided to make a backup and install other roms just to test. I installed the rom and my device Miui NDT was unsigned, I ended up doing strange and full wipe to install the ROM GalnetMiui. But I opted to return to the Criskello Rom. This morning I realized that my phone does not make calls and even shows that the data is active, but strangely, the signal is full.
Reinstall the original rom Retail Brazil and yet when I try to make calls I get Mobile Network Unavailable ...
My simcard is old, I'll buy a new one for testing. Someone tell me if this is normal?
galaxy s2 no service
Hi all,
I had a similar problem, while using Skype I suddenly got the dreaded no service indicator.. Took phone to Samsung and they said to check if it was maybe barred from the network which it wasn't.. I was about to take it back to the shop I bought it from, then decided to remove my google account but the phone forced me to do a factory data reset, under settings -> Privacy.
I did this and then...... Happy days all was fine again )
I think it was the skype application that caused the problem but will confirm this...
Life is good again!
Hope this helps...
i having the same problem, after reboot I'm having respiration but only emergency call
it's started as i flash Lp1 modem, in the Base.b it's said Unknown, but after it i flashed KP4 and everything act normal
so i really don't know!!!
i thoght this is something in my modem F.w LP1 so i went back to factory KI4
didn't help.
changed my rom from CM9 to Checkrom v4 didn't help.
factory rest didn't do much.
i found by mistake that if i am using the sim card on different phone make a sort
phone call and putting back the sim card to SG2. only this my letting my take phone call.
I'm hopping may be some one will read my temporary solution, and will help as to find the right solution .
...
restoring the oldest CMW and EFS restore manually didn't do much
i will keep looking, please if someone got a clue ...
Thank you for all
i will keep on going till i will find a solution.
i believe that the main issue is that if i didn't delete /efs all the restoring didn't really restore this folder.
this is very risky, do a good backup with EFS-PRO
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1308546
it's all started because ididn't do a good backup!!!
pinkman, have any progress?

Hi I want to know how can I unbrick my Samsung galaxy s 4g. I believe I bricked because now when I turned on only stock in the logo. Please can you help me with this. I'm leontx's wife. Thanks
If it's just showing the logo and it's there for over 15 minutes, you'll probably need to reflash something.
I'd suggest using one of the one-clicks from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19601810&postcount=2 and I'd probably suggest the second (Basic with a Twist) choice.
First, you need to get the phone into download mode. Easiest way to do that is to unplug USB cable, pull the battery out, plug the battery back in, and plug the phone back to the computer. Hold the volume buttons on the left and turn on the phone (while holding down the buttons). It should ask you if you want to go into download mode. Press volume+ to confirm, then unplug the phone from your computer and plug it back in (to make the computer realize that there's a device there). Now run the one-click to reflash your phone. If the flash fails, restart the phone and try again. If the phone reboots to a screen showing a little phone and a yellow warning sign, perfect... just flash it again. That's the alternate download screen, and I get it everytime I use Heimdall/Odin/Kies to flash it.
couldn't get into download mode
Hello, thanks for you help,I'm trying to fix my wife's galaxy s after she wiped and factory reset the phone when tried to recovery by herself. Now the phone is stock in the galaxy s 4g logo forever,I tried to get into recovery or download mode but i couldn't.She told me that the phone was giving her a error message about the keyboard app, then she removed the batt and put it back, the battery showed her almost dead like 1% when was like 79% few seconds before, then she called t-mobile and the person told her to do the recovery mode with the bottoms, she did it and the person ask how much batt the phone had, she said 79%.then the person sugested to full charge the batt, and call them(tmobile) back.So here we go... lol:laugh:.She tried to fix it and got into recovery mode and wiped and factory reset the phone,I dont know what she was doing and removed the batt to reboot the phone.and here we are now. When try to get into download mode the pc not recognize it say USB device not reconognized and the phone just show a loading logo but nothing happen.I just want to know if is possible to fix this or toss it,the phone is rooted with a custom rom,I tried with another batt but the same results.Im realy want to recover this phone to give it to my mother in law thank you so much

i soft brick may phone yesterday, i use to flash my current rom and then reflash it again [clean flash] i just reflash it to save my game replay..
if you can boot into recovery mode, reflash your current rom and then backup and wipe everything exept sdcard then flash again.
Sounds like the battery crapping out on you & crashing while it was doing something important. Usually, a factory reset and new battery can fix. But, If the reset failed, it's not a biggie. find any of the one clicks that you might like to try (lumin30 has a awesome guide/thread w/ links). Batteries are cheap. Sometimes they will swell up when they die. If it spins easy when placed on flat surface is an easy check. There are a couple threads with links to 10 buck replacements around too.
Sent from my NookTablet using xda app-developers app
eureka !!!
my phone is alive.I could put it in download mode by removing the batt, put it back then holding both volumes bottoms, then connecting the phone to my pc(USB),no power bottom.and voila after putting this in download move everything else is piece of cake thank yall.
SGH-I717 ATT. So here's what happened. Note was working good except for sim card not connecting to network, ordered new sim from ATT same thing. Had stock 4.0.4 flashed to 4.1.2 still same. Read somewhere about .qcn file change to get better signal (something like that) used QPST to change .qcn file (did save old one) thats when the boot loops started. Have flashed all kinds of roms and modems. still boot loops over and over again. Did all wipes before install any other roms still same. I have even tried a rogers rom and modem which actually made the boot loops stop and can get into phone, but it does freeze up here and their. Was going to try and use this rom and get QPST to change back my .qcn file but QPST says no phone on any ports. So cannot restore .qcn file. Do not know if this file was actually what started the problem, but thats when it started. Talked to Samsung tech support but only told them about rom update to 4.12 and they told me my ram might be full. ? Told me to take to best buy to have them reflash rom and still same. They also (tech support) told me that flashing a new rom does not delete the old rom and it stays in memory ?. What are they idiots. The guy at best buy who works for samsung was like huh. Told me ooh you can probably find software to pull old rom outa phone? (idiots or what)
So all in all any fixes anybody knows or changing .qcn file mess it up. All thoughts would be nice. TX
Also should I upload my old and the problem .qcn file to XDA? For someone to look at ?
bye bye

Would anyone know which resistor I would short for it to take boot img from SD card like i have read, I have searched with no luck on this phone but can find for others. But PCB board is different on those..
Copy bootloader to the SD Card,After downloading, turn off the phone and remove the SD Card.
→ This SD card will be used to recover boot of the phone.
13) Disassemble the ‘No Power’ phone, but connecting the LCD with PBA, to check the LCD if boot recovery is successfully done.
. Insert SD card(bootloader was copied) to the PBA. Connect the PBA with Anyway JIG and power supply, with the POWER OFF.
※ Use 11pin cable to supply power to the PBA. Short R313 resistance.(HQ uses tweezers to short the resistance). Turn on the PBA, and REMOVE THE SHORT between 3 to 6 seconds from turning on the PBA.
18) After approximately 5 seconds, you can see message on the LCD boot recovery was succeeded.
I would like to know what happened to my OPO, first I transferring data with ES file manager from my friend's phone.
Then suddenly my phone screen blank then i try to unlock nothing happened. Then i hold power button nothing happened as well then i hold volume down + power button it boot back up to recovery then everything is fine now.
Oneplus One
XNPH38R
Franco kernel r25
Nothing really bad since it's solved now...
Don't worry about it.
Ive found an article (in german ) there was said that the EFS doesnt contain the IMEI Number anymore in a qualcomm LTE devices it is in the nvRAM so EFS Backup wont fix something but flash the stockrom firmware should correct it.
http://www.samsungnews.eu/allgemein/efs-backup-sinnlos-1962/
ps i dont have read the hole thread just 4-5 posts and then searched on any page for nvRAM without a find, just wanna share this, because i thought that the IMEI is in the EFS folder before.
