Hi, I want to buy bricked sensation and repair it.
The guy says, he put rom on S-ON 1.27 and you can just go to bootloader or look at htc logo. I tought, I will just re-stock it with .img from bootloader. But he says that its need RiffBox... Thanks for answers.
I think
If you enter in bootloader then it's not bricked
Get more info from him, like HTC dev unlocked or not , custom recovery etc and post here then someone will help u .
And if possible I will help u

He just said to me that "I tried to flash rom on locked phone" From the photo i saw S-ON and he wrote that he have 1.27 Hboot. Now he wrote me "I bought it working, but then I tried it update trough wifi, but the phone stuck and dont bootup back. I tried some tutorials on internet, but nothing worked. So I think last option is RiffBox"

Hey I can't c texts clearly in that photo ,
And riffBox for completely dead phone , may b this was due to bad download ..
If mobile is stuck in bootloader , this can b back on working condition without riffbox

ok then if you decide to buy it you have to follow this guide for S-ON
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1631861 or
if you want to S-OFF you can follow this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1614617
in any case you can flash roms
Im going for it in about a hour. Thank you guystso much.
So i bought it, its Unlocked S-On 1.27 with 4EXT recovery (1.0.0.5) But every time i flash something(from the s-on tutorial) it's just stuck at HTC logo, just HTC no quietly brilliant....

don't be afraid.it's ok
you have 2 options:
1)do extra 1 from the S-ON guide or
2)enable smartflash from recovery and flash the rom again
it should work then
thanks extra1 works

i rooted my device not too long ago with revolutionary.. Everything was successful..
When i got the phone i had the hboot 1.1800
well i went to try a rom.. ICS..
Told me i had to get the latest firmware, well i places the file on my sd card and went into hboot..
it was doing the update but said incorrect CID and now when i reboot, i get the boot loop on the htc screen..
i have a sd card reader, so i can put it in my computer.. so i tried to put back the original img.zip back because i did the win recovery..
so when my device reads that, it says incorrect model..
Help please!
oh my hboot says 1.27 now... how do i get back to my original 1.18?? i have to unroot it now but dunno how
Enter bootloader.
Perform superCID.
Reflash firmware, should be good to go with ics.

Take your time man, this will take longer than 15 minutes. You always have to read the information more than once so that you don't mess up your phone like you did.
Step 4 tells you how to SuperCID

Easier way - download the firmware that has your CID, kohr-ah has a thread covering all of them I believe
Edit:

1. Find out your CID
2. Download firmware for your CID
3. Put firmware on your sd card
4. Flash

6. Profit.

i just bought a sensation, and now i'm a previous HD2 owner. so i'm not a noob, i hope.
so...unlocking bootloader and rooting and s-Off...which one to follow? the official on hTCDev website or the revolutionary way?! any difference between those?
please someone clarify some things, as i just became a sensation user, i have no idea about anything of these since HD2 is way different as i noticed and since there are a lot of info on the net, i don't wanna get into things i shouldn't.
i got a second hand sensation but it's still on factory default with android 2.3.4 and sense 3.0
really any help is greatly appreciated
If your HBOOT is supported by Revolutionary ALWAYS use that one...
I dont like HTCdev - It should only be used if your HBOOT is unsupported
Just have a good read through all the noob guides. Be sure of what you're doing before attempting anything...
I cant stress how important it is to follow the guides 100%

haha maybe its just me..
Anyway, Revolutionary IS THEE best tool for S-OFF... providing your HBOOT is supported of course. Did you check to see if its supported ?
if you got hboot 1.18.0000 please use revolutionary method to unlock your boot loader. If you unlock your bootloader with htcdev method you will unlock somd parts of the hboot. not every thing. then you cant flash a custom kernel because it already locked boot.img and cant write a new file over it. thne you will get wifi, bluetooth problems. so unlock your bootloader with revolutionary.

How can i still do it like that? Would i need to flash the old orange ruu on the sdcard?

You can't run older ruu when SON
To have custom rom's you need to do SOFF via Juopunutbear way or htc dev unlock
The later might not work for you.. As you might got motherboard replaced..
So only solution is JB via temproot

My repair was only for dust under the screen. so i have the choice of voiding warranty via a piece of wire (visual void), or I virtually tell htc im voiding it? There must be a sneakier way?

I highly doubt it. If you're uncomfortable, you should stick with stock. It's always wise to not do it if you aren't sure of it..
If I had steady hands it wouldnt be a problem, Im a flashaholic, hate stock lol x
Maybe if you read over it a few times you might get a bit more comfortable with it? What I do is even print out the guide so I don't miss a step.this has really helped me in the past when doing new things, I know it may sound silly but its nice to have a printed guide infront of you incase you get in a pinch. This way all the steps are right there in front of you. This is what I do. Just a suggestion. If you DO decide to give it a shot then maybe this might help. I wish you the best in which ever you decide. I just wanted to share this with you because having a printed guide has really helped me out in the past. Good luck and best wishes to you!

If your Hboot still says *locked* you cannot flash a recovery.
Please get the correct Hboot from here & follow flashing instructions: http://unlimited.io/hboot-downloads/
You can then proceed to flashing recovery.

If he is on gb he doesnt need to unlock, he can straight s-off it and retain his warranty, the guide to do that totally works. Unlocking is totally unnecessary and is just going the extra road to s-off.
Your post is only if someone who has upgraded to official ics and wans to s-off, which is not possible as the person first needs to unlock.

yes tried all of the above, several times. tried newest drivers, and 3.0.0.007, messed around with several usb cables, changed computers. device not found error every time. i think the phone is stuffed. will send it to mobiletechvideos in Texas. it's a 50 dollar repair. will be a bit more careful next time.

You can boot the phone up to boot loader?
Then did you try flashing a ruu?
Can you post the boot loader details?

hi, my phone has been recovered and back working. service centre returned the phone with locked bootloader, s-off and hboot 1.29.
i'd like to get back to Android Revolution HD 6.8.0, can i just root and flash a recovery, or have i to unlock the bootloader again on htv dev? can i use the backups i made earlier on hboot 1.27?
thanks again.

you received the phone with LOCKED bootloader and SOFF ?
then before doing anything ..i would suggest you to ..check whether the phone is soff or not (I've seen 3 cases at-least where the phone showed soff (after the phone got back from service center) but its not actually soff and people bricked their phone again trying to flash stuff) ... to check soff status go to my soff guide (link in my signature)..try the controlbear soff NO HTC_DEV unlock one ..if the phone is properly soff then the controlbear says soff and exits ..otherwise your phone is not soff ..
also you cant do HTC-DEV unlock (motherboard got replaced so IMEI changed) as IMEI changed and the unlock procedure fails ..the only way is JB SOFF

hi again, thanks for the heads up. i've run controlbear and confirmed the phone is s-off. during the process it asked to install modified juopunutbear hboot, which i said no. should i have? also phone imei is same as before (no motherboard replacement) so whats my next move, i'm a little cautious as I've bricked phone already once!! thanks ganeshp.

yes install juopunutbear hboot via controlbear and if that didnt went successfully ..install patched revoultionary hboot (at the end of first post i think) from kohr-ah firmware thread present in sensation development section.
then you cna continue with custom recovery flashing and then custom rom (if you want you can backup your current stock rom too from the custom recovery before trying the new rom )
