TWRP for ics port could not boot to recovery...need help please.... - LG Optimus 3D

I already try to reflash for almost 10 times and each and every time was unsuccessful to make the twrp working on my device...
anybody has any idea what went wrong?
i flash the ics port from xbsall currently using V21A baseband and root succesfuly using the guide from the development thread.
however once i install the p940 recovery and granted superuser it could never boot to recovery.
i did make the twrp successfully boot to recover and make a backup 2 days ago. but because i flash the wrong baseband and messed up with my imei i decided to reflash all over again.
and tough luck it never reboot to recovery ever since.
please help... i'm dying to try xbsall newest room with acid sound....

I am in the same situatiom.
If someone can provide alternative or manual way it will be great.

You habe to put you device in fastboot mode with omap4tools and type the fastboot.exe flash recovery \path\to\stockicsrecovery.img

How can I do that? Could you please explain it to me step by step? I have the omap driver but don't know anything about fast boot.

Did u try holding volume down while booting?
Sent from my LG-SU760 using xda app-developers app

Forget flashing Recovery partition if using ICS.
Specific TWRP/CWM recovery uses the 2nd init method and has nothing to do with recovery partition.

I have the same problem!
the installation of the .zip-file takes 2 sec.
it isn't normal for a size of 429 mb.
what's the problem

you can use the app that you used to install recovery to go in recovery mode,
3d+vol down+power doesnt work on me.

[Q] Cannot boot into recovery. Laggy phone as well.

I was just about to try updating from NScollab 1.0.39 to 1.0.40 and for some reason my nexus s refuses to boot into recovery. It doesn't seem to exist anymore. Im not sure if it is related or not but my phone became very laggy after my first failed attempt to boot into recovery. I tried fixing user permissions and rebooting many many times but it doesn't seem to help.
What does it do when u try to boot into recovery?
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
It doesnt do anything. It just reboots into the bootloader.
Thank you for the quick reply
edit:
i tried flashing recovery again through rom manager and now whenever i try to boot into recovery it just hangs at the google logo with the unlocked padlock.
Hmmm
Do me a quick favor.
go here:
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Ne...de#Installing_the_ClockworkMod_Recovery_Image
and download the 4.0.0.2 recovery image and save it to some directory on ur computer
then follow these steps:
1. Open up command prompt/terminal and plug in phone to computer
2. Type "adb reboot bootloader"
3. It will take you to fastboot mode. Now type "fastboot erase recovery"
4. Then type fastboot "flash recovery ____.img"
( ____ is the name of the recovery img file)
5. Now it will flash and once it says "OKAY" then scroll down using volume down into recovery and see what happens
plz get back to me bout this!
IT WORKS! It went into recovery! Thank you so so much! Is there anything else I should do or am i set to go?

[Q] Problem with recovery after upgrade to ics

Hi,
My wife has upgrade I think the incorrect version of ics 4.0.3 stock because when I try to go to the recovery by press power button and volume up the system crash. It seems that the bootloader is of 9020 instead of her 9023.
So I can't root or install cyanogenmod 9.
Any solutions?
Thanks.

I just used the fastboot flash to fix my recovery.img. Does the phone boot at all?
any information about system crash ?
i don't think it's problem of bootloader , i have i9023,
but that i9020KL1 if i remember it correct, is for both 9023 and 9020A/T , but can only boot up ICS system but can't boot GB system.

You can fastboot flash recovery.img again, then flash rom CM9. You can go to recovery.
I think rom stock can not flash recovery.

Boot loop when flashing viper rom

i tried to reinstall viper rom in cwm recovery along with the ics gapps package, everything flashed fine but when i tried to boot the phone up it has become stuck in a boot loop and i cannot enter recovery (it starts to load then it reboots and resumes its boot loop). i re flashed cwm recovery, but the same error persists. in dire need of suggestions, need this thing working by tomorrow morning.
thanks in advance
Have you flashed the boot .img Before you flashed the ROM ?
Sent from my HTC One S using xda app-developers app
You should try to get into the Bootloader mode , this will be possible even though you are in a bootloop. After you got into Bootloader mode you should flash using the AIO Toolkit the TWRP recovery (I think the AIO Toolkit can do that via Fastboot USB)
After that you can mount your sd card in TWRP and push a Nandroid of someone (You can find plenty of nandroids on the forums using the search, but search for TWRP nand) and restore it. AFTER all this you should read the instructions given on every rom thread you wanna flash. Google apps flashing on viper rom? srsly?
i already flashed both cwm and twrp manually before i posted, but went ahead and gave the toolkit a shot, it installs twrp no problem, but it still crashes and resumes the bootloop whenever i try to boot into recovery. and before you try to give people crap about installing an extra package, i flashed the gapps because the google services framework was not working, and your method (stated so far) was unhelpful. maybe check your tone next time

OK if you can get in recovery try to reflash the ROM without wipe and let it go threw and then click reboot into boatloader and just hold the bottom volume
After you get in there put the boot IMG in what ever folder you have you fastboot on your computer and hold down shift and click the right on the mouse and click command prompt and type fastboot flash boot boot.img it will load it after type fastboot erase cache and then fastboot reboot and just let it do its thing it will probably reboot twice and it will load right up

fixed the issue myself, rather simple. erased the cache via fastboot and bam, able to boot into recovery

[Q] Stuck at fastboot

What happened:
I was trying to flash jaggy's ROM over CM9.1...
Flashing failed... Fastboot and bootloader are accessible. Rebooting to recovery brings me back to fastboot
What i tried:
I tried flashing every single recovery through fastboot cmd.. But to no avail
then i tried to flash stock ruu(Indian as i'm from there) using steps given in the forum.. I successfully flashed system.img but flashing boot_signed.img and recovery_signed.img fails
all flashes give same error
sending recovery...
OKAY
writing recovery
FAILED<remote:image update error>
I've latest HTC sync installed and on windows 7 PC
I've also tried on different PCs(3) and used different USB cables(2)
Plz try to help
Goto HTC service center as soon as possible. It seems that your system or NAND partition is having problems in read-write operation or is corrupted.
If possible, try restoring Nandroid backup of any rom you have. (Oops, you may not be able to do that if you can't get in recovery)
It seems that your phone has lost recovery, also.
Sent from my HTC Explorer A310e using xda premium
will HTC solve it? really?
They will charge a lot.
But going to service center would be safe.
Anyone can suggest something else ? Cuz i can't find any way that would help him out. All he can do is try flashing recovery. Then only he can proceed.

Okay, i was browsing some forums and i think the following may serve as a solution.
Since you cannot get into recovery, and you are stuck in fastboot. This problem is known as Soft-Brick. (Actually you can get into recovery)
Press hold power key for more than 15secs. Keep holding till the boot animation comes. Or, you can take out the battery after 30secs and re-insert it after some time.
Try again to get into recovery.
Let me know, if this helped.
Sent from my HTC Explorer A310e using XDA Premium HD app
After 1 seconds of pressing power button, i get 7 vibrations and then HTC logo and then in Fastboot. After that nothing happens.no matter how long i press power button. Same thing happpens when i simply press power button..
By the way, when i go to hboot, i see these lines in a flash:
SD Checking:
Loading Something.zip
No Image!
Loading Something.zip
No Image!
Loading Something.zip
No Image!
Loading Something.zip
No Image!
i cant see the name of zips
The loading & checking of so many something .zip is some kind of check it does automatically. Happens on each HTC phone.
You will never be shown zip files automatically, you will need to navigate to it via recovery.
Now coming back to your problem. Since, the steps i said didn't work, i ll be searching for more troubleshooting methods. Also, you too search all forums regarding same problem.
Last resort... HTC Service Center. Be prepared to shell out some cash.
Sent from my HTC Explorer A310e using XDA Premium HD app
should I lock it before giving it to service centre.. It's still under warranty...
No use. It will say relocked.
You will have to pay.

do tell us how much they charged you it might be a warning for others
Was there something wrong in flashing back a GB ROM? Should i have restocked??
Well, I read the forum that guides on flashing RUU. Many have complained that they are getting the same error.
So, I went to the HTC Developer site and found that there is also a .zip file available, besides the .tar.gz files. You may try flashing that zip file.
Alternatively, I would suggest you to flash the available stock roms form here -> stock rom - mediafire.com.
Do reply what happens.

Actually it's my friend's phone. This what exactly he did to flash jaggy's ROM(that caused brick):
1. Flashed jaggy's through recovery. SUCESS!!!
2. Tried to flash superuser... :silly: ....
3. Couldn't boot into jaggy's next time. Recovery was still accessible.
4. Tried awful number of fastboot commands, did some drivers for windows 8.. Here he lost his recovery
.
He made CWM backup(working) of Jaggy ROM and tried restoring with cmd(didn't work)

[Q] What ever I do the phone boots into recovery..

I was on paranoid 4.1.2 rom with ibluemind's latest cm10 kernel(3.3.2013.) and twrp 2.2.2.1 and I flashed the latest cm-10-20130303-NIGHTLY-p920.zip rom from here:
http://get.cm/?device=p920
I played around with it and when pushed my power button and choose "boot into recovery" the phone boots into recovery whatever I do!
I mean i tried to restore my backups and twrp finishes the proccess but the phone boots into recovery again. I flashed paranoidandroid, Darkroom v2 and xballs5.2 but it booted into recovery every time.
Then I reflashed wkparks 1.25a bootloader files, I reflashed twrp and tried but the result was the same.
After that I reflashed cwm...same.
Help please.

This is a bug on wkparks 1.25 u-boot. You should never press the 'boot to recovery' from the power menu or you will end up in a recovery loop. The only thing to do now is to either reflash xbsa ics .bin from flashtool or 21e

After 4h of trying everything that I could think of I reflashed ported xbsa ics, rooted, installed recovery and restored my twrp backup.

You can install kernel on recovery partition, boot, then reboot normal and install recovery again.
That is faster then flashing .bin.
