Hello
I just got a Kindle Fire 6.3.1 from a friend in America (i'm in Australia). After I realised that I can't really use the Kindle Fire here I started researching how to change it to a Android.
FYI - I'm not at all computer savvy
So... I managed to root it and installed superuser. I also managed to find the jelly bean file and google app files and uploaded it to my Kindle. I then managed to get into team win - did a back up, wiped the cache and delvik cache but when I went to install and then flash the zips it always says error can't flash.
I also allowed other apps in the kindle settings.
I don't know what to do or what i'm doing wrong. I've spent about 2 days trying to do this and I'm starting to think that maybe I just don't have the magic computer touch.
I would really really appreciate any help.
thank you
P.S I have a MAC
Might I suggest rooting it and posting this in the Kindle Fire thread.
I would suggest taking a look at the Jelly Bean Roms.

I rooted my Nook tablet per Indirect's guide and everything seemed to work flawlessly. I have the android market, and installed the Amazon market and messed around with things briefly before bed. Today various apps like busybox and and titanium backup are telling me they need root. Superuser is installed and my various markets still work fine.
I read Indirect's ENTIRE THREAD tonight at work and the only thing I could think maybe happened is similar to this recent post.
Im pretty much an android noob. My Nook Tablet shows version 9.9.9 Is there some way to verify I didnt update to 1.4.1 and break root while I was in the process of doing it or am I completely over looking something? I figured I would check here before trying to downgrade and reroot the Nook Tablet.
Hope I didnt leave anything out.
After some discussion on IRC and trying to su from terminal it appears that my Nook Tablet did update to 1.4.1 while I was rooting it.
Hey Guys, I'm new here and am not a pro at rooting phones but have done it several times. On GB, I tricked my droid razr into thinking it was a Droid3, so I could install and play a Game (Order and Chaos) from the market (it isn't compatible with the Razr). All worked fine following the instructions on editing the build.prop.
When i had to reformat to upgrade to ICS, that method ended up bricking my phone, resulting in hours of un-bricking it.
Wondering if there is a way to do this same type of "tricking", so that I am able to play the game on this phone, like I used to.
I have eclipse ROM installed (newest since ICS update.
Anyone know or have done this?
Also, I have a galaxy tab 2 7", and it also won't allow me to play the game. Is tehre a way to hack it and get it to work?
Any and all help is appreciated. Thank you.
Has anyone successfully gotten android 4.2 running on the 2nd generation Kindle Fire? I've been trying to flash the ROM from this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2041694. I use TWRP to flash the ROM and google apps. When I reboot, it successfully loads the new ROM, but is stuck on the Jellybean loading screen endlessly and never progresses to the login screen. Has anyone been able to get past this problem? If so, what did you do? Also, will there be a ROM coming out tailored specifically for the 2nd generation Kindle Fire?
Hi guys,
I just bought a new Coby Kyros MID8127 tablet (A8, Android 2.3) for my friend.
Now, I want to flash a custom ROM with JB on it, but I just did not find any ROM, CWM or tutorial for that here at XDA (or elsewhere).
Is it possible, that there is no custom ROM for that tablet to have?
Thank you in advance.
Greetings,
sYCO
I have the same tablet and I bought a custom ROM from the people at KTZ, however, I could not install this ROM successfully, in order to install it I had to take the tablet to factory reset state and then delete a bunch of system applications to make room for the new ROM because the ROM does not allow you to install it from a formatted system partition (it's more like an upgrade). But when I finally installed the ROM it wuold not boot a second time; what that means is that, after installation the ROM boots normally but if I reboot it gets caught in a loop where I just see a blue disk spinning and it doesn't do anything else and the only way to get it out of that loop is to connect the USB cable and boot to recovery via adb and restore the backup that i did before flashing the new ROM. I tried to get help from the guy who makes these ROMs but he wasn't very helpful. I followed all his instructions and always got the same result.
I managed to install manually most of the components of this ROM through a long process of trial and error and left out the components that make the tablet misbehave and now I have a hybrid on my tablet which works pretty well with the exception of the wifi. The wifi works but at times is painfully slow.
I tried other ROMs from Android Tablet forums (check here). There is an ICS Rom there (or more than one, I don't remember) and also a JB ROM for the 8127 but I could not make them work on my tablet. The ICS ROM installed fine and runs very fast but it keeps freezing so I uninstalled. The Jelly Bean did not install properly and it was very hard to get the tablet to a working state after it bricked.
That was a while ago and I haven't checked lately if there is something else out there.

Sorry, I gave that tablet back and cannot test it anymore. I rather recommend to buy an Ainol Novo 7 Crystal. It is cheaper, better and ****ing fast with a nice custom ROM support like CM 10, CM 10.1, Paranoid 3.0, Crystal-Fuse, ...
Btw, KTZ sucks totally.
Hi Newby here!
Samsung Galaxy 7 GT-P1000
I somehow stumbled my through rooting my stock tab using odin. failed to install a few Roms for Jellybean, but eventually manager to get AOKP build 38 (android 4.04) running. Like an idiot though, the Gapps file was a newer one intended for Jellybean Rom. It went on, however I now get the 'Unfortunately, Andoid Keyboard has stopped' message. I have looked around and tried the force stop and clear cache, but sadly no fix.
what do I do now? can I just install a more recent ROM over the top?
can i install a rom thats not AOKP now I have AOKP on there?
I basically want Jellybean on my tab rather than ICS.
Can you provide me a link to the Rom and relevant Gapps Jellybean, and is it the just the same process as the initial ones I put on?
OR, can I just put an older version of Gapps on and it will resolve my issue. (I want jellybean but can live with ICS if working properly)?
Sorry for the volume of questions... I am just at a loss of what to do as I dont know what I can and cant do.
For the record I dont have Nandroid or bootstrap on here. they were not mentioned in the tutorial and I had already cleared everything off my tab so wasnt worried about losing anything on it.
Thanks in advance for any enlightenment...
As I sit here now I managed to resolve both issues. I just managed to locate and flash the correct Gapps. reset/wipe, del cache, delete dalvik cache, run akop and run replaced Gapps and hey presto.. ICS running smoothly on my GT7 P1000. Runs snapseed, chrome browser just fine. All my social apps are far better in pics than gingerbread. Loving it. Many hours lost on the steep learning curve.
One question remains.. can I flash a from on here by a different mod? Cost I have seen jellybean for the P1000. Don't know whether to quit while I'm ahead, or now I'm getting the gist, mod to paranoid androids jellybean.
