[Resolved] [Q] Rooted NooK tablet updated to 1.4.1 but still showing version 9.9.9 - General Questions and Answers

I rooted my Nook tablet per Indirect's guide and everything seemed to work flawlessly. I have the android market, and installed the Amazon market and messed around with things briefly before bed. Today various apps like busybox and and titanium backup are telling me they need root. Superuser is installed and my various markets still work fine.
I read Indirect's ENTIRE THREAD tonight at work and the only thing I could think maybe happened is similar to this recent post.
Im pretty much an android noob. My Nook Tablet shows version 9.9.9 Is there some way to verify I didnt update to 1.4.1 and break root while I was in the process of doing it or am I completely over looking something? I figured I would check here before trying to downgrade and reroot the Nook Tablet.
Hope I didnt leave anything out.

After some discussion on IRC and trying to su from terminal it appears that my Nook Tablet did update to 1.4.1 while I was rooting it.

GTablet Experiences

I originally purchased a GTablet from the original Woot! sale based on reviews during that sale that this was a wonderful tablet once a new rom was installed. The first tablet I purchased as a gift for my wife. I received it on a Friday after I got off work. Within about an hour, I was up and running with TNT Lite, a fully functional app market and Adobe Flash Player.
I primarily followed this guide from these forums. I had zero problems and everything worked flawlessly following the guide.
I was so impressed with the tablet, when it came up on Woot! again, I decided to purchase another one. This tablet arrived quickly, and by all appearances was the same as the tablet for my wife. I checked the stock OS, installed the OTA update and verified I was on 1.1 3588. I proceeded to follow the guide again and ran into problems immediately with the app market.
I used the basic app market fix listed and no matter how many times I did it, I couldn't see the majority of apps. I then began looking around the forums and found this guide for the titanium backup method. I followed this exactly and still the market wouldn't work.
I found one more guide (can't find the link now) that instructed me to edit files on the tablet to known working configurations. I grabbed the files and they already had exactly what the guide was telling me to change to. So no luck there.
I then remembered reading that some Roms had a working app market out of the box. I figured I'd try VEGAn or Cyanogen Rom instead of TNT Lite to see if this fixed this problem. This is when I ran into another brick wall. I was completely unable to load these Roms on my tablet. After performing the install in ClockWork Mod and rebooting, the tablet would get the ViewSonic screen with Birds and never complete the boot. I left it on that screen for as long as an hour and still nothing worked.
I came back to the forums looking for more information. Buried deep in the VEGAn 7.0 thread I found a gem from someone who had a similar boot problem (they made no mention of market problems). This person said they were able to fix the boot problems by using NVFlash to restore the tablet to original settings and pointed towards this thread as a possible fix.
I followed the steps in there directly. I was hung up for about 20 minutes trying to figure out how to use NVFlash and ClockWork mod until it dawned on me that accessing for NVFlash was used with the Volume Minus button instead of the Volume Plus button. So if you are confused in that section, keep in mind they use different power up methods and don't conflict.
After using NVFlash and restoring back to the original settings I was able to get into the stock rom. I tried the OTA update immediately and it failed after the download. Restarting the tablet fixed the problem. After you are able to boot back into the stock rom, I recommend a restart just in case. Then do the OTA 1.1 3588 update.
I then followed the original guide again. This time, everything worked as expected. Using TNTLite and the Market Fix worked the first time. I formatted and installed VEGAn and it worked on the first time too.
I decided to make this post as a thank you to everyone out there who works on these ROMs and everyone who has posted fixes to their problems. Hopefully this will help anyone else that is having problems.
My wife and I absolutely love our tablets and this wouldn't be possible without the fine people here.
TLDR;
Market was broken and known Market Fix didn't work. Used NVFlash and it fixed it.
NVFlash uses Volume Minus not Volume Plus
Restart Stock OS after first boot before installing OTA update
Thanks for posting this. I plan on switching to vegan from tnt lite soon. This is good info to know ahead of time.
Thanks for the info from someone who is waiting to theirs in the mail.

[Q] Rooting Android 2.2.1 (Froyo) Tablet

I recently purchased a Pandigital 7" Tablet from Kohls this weekend that is running Android 2.2.1 (Froyo) on it. Of course it didn't come with the Android Market and was hoping to put it on there. I used the program Z4 Mod and it says my tablet is rooted but when I try to open the Android Market it flashes and just closes. Does anyone else have a suggestion on what I should do to get this to work by chance? I'm fairly new to the rooting scene, Thanks in advance!
Well my device is rooted using the Onesimpleclick and my tablet shows the Superuser on it and says it rooted. The problem is when I try to open the Android Market it immediatly closes before it can even open up all the way. Does anyone have any suggestions? I can't clear the cashe since i haven't even been able to use the program yet. I'm so close, yet so far away from this working the way I hoped...

[Q] Pure Root WW 8.4.4.11 *failed*

Hi all,
Well and truly a noob to Android heading over from the Apple camp. I tried to root my device using the Pure Root method as below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125714
Everything seemed to work fine. I got the update successful confirmations during install. Rebooted, but then when I went back into the OS SuperUser was missing. Installed this from the Marketplace then installed Titanium BackUp to test it but it tells me the device is NOT rooted.
I downloaded the software from ASUS, installed drivers and followed the instructions to the letter.
Where could of I gone wrong?
Also, is there a mac rooting version? I'm at work today and my machine is a mac and really want to get Order & Chaos Online up and running *friggn Gameloft*

[Q] Rooted Nook Tablet, No market

So I "successfully" rooted my Nook Tablet as per Indirect's instructions, but the NookandZergy batch did not give me any options to install any apps and my tablet basically performs exactly the same as before. When I run NookandZergy again, it says it's already been rooted, tries to do more, and tells me that I don't have the adb hijack followed by a prompt to block OTA's. It was pain in my rear just to get it to root in the first place and it seems to be all for naught and I don't want to have to re-root. Haven't found anyone else with this issue.
It was 1.4.0 and I followed and double-checked this process meticulously. May try to re-root anyway, but I expect much of the same.
I previously side-loaded Amazon App store, Go Launcher and a few other apps before the root if that could be an issue.
Solved?
So I un-rooted/factory-restored my Nook Tablet and re-rooted, this time with the wi-fi turned off and everything did as it was supposed to. I am gladly using my rooted tablet now. If anyone else has any issues, I believe I can help, so ask away.

Stopping OTA Updates

This is my first post on this site, though I have trolled these forums since I got my smartphone. I have learned a lot too!
Currently my phone is a rooted Maxx HD (xt926) running JB 4.1.1. From what I have read on the forums, going to 4.1.2 might break my root and WILL keep me from going back to ICS using a tool I found on this site (Matts tool I think its called). I have decided its not worth the upgrade until someone gets root with a stock JB instead of with ICS then a JB upgrade.
I am glad I caught it in time. The updater started the 4.1.2 download so I turned off wifi and data to stall it. I couldn't cancel the download. I have Titanium Backup and froze Updater 4.1.1. This took my downloading notification away completely. Now if I try to do an update, it says an update is currently downloading, however I have no notification or any sign something is actually downloading, so I think that stopped it.
I am hoping this doesn't mess up future OTA updates should I defrost and try again.
This isn't a question so much as I didn't see a thread that covered stopping OTA notifications with this phone after a search. This procedure seemed to work great so far. This is probably such a simple thing to veteran android users that it probably wasn't posted, or I didn't find the post. I am hoping this will help other noobs. Or if this won't work or breaks something else, hopefully someone will point it out.
