[Q] Pure Root WW 8.4.4.11 *failed* - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
Well and truly a noob to Android heading over from the Apple camp. I tried to root my device using the Pure Root method as below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125714
Everything seemed to work fine. I got the update successful confirmations during install. Rebooted, but then when I went back into the OS SuperUser was missing. Installed this from the Marketplace then installed Titanium BackUp to test it but it tells me the device is NOT rooted.
I downloaded the software from ASUS, installed drivers and followed the instructions to the letter.
Where could of I gone wrong?

Also, is there a mac rooting version? I'm at work today and my machine is a mac and really want to get Order & Chaos Online up and running *friggn Gameloft*

help im lost

Alright so I have a Droid 1. I was originally running 2.1 and was rooted and everything was fine. I found a one click root for froyo so I unrooted my phone and updated to froyo. When the phone was updated I downloaded z4root and rooted my phone and it worked until another update popped up and I agreed to update again. After the new update I had superuser permission still but all Apps that require root failed so I tried rooting again and it says I'm already rooted. I've done everything I can think of and nothing. I do not have a computer so my options are limited. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

[Q] Xperia x10a rooting woes, looky here...

ok so i bought this xperia x10a two days ago and never personally had an android before so i didn't know anything about rooting or custom roms until recently i've been shoving my face in the middle of it. heres whats ive done so far...
installed android sdk r08 windows
installed x10 usb phone drivers
adb in cmd prompt shows device listed with serial number so i have the install right
ive installed universal androot 1.6.2 beta 5 using adb install
i opened up androot and rooted the phone with superuser and matching firmware option, androot says it worked.
i tried to load google earth apk, and im STILL security blocked--what gives?
so i didnt sweat it, i figured maybe i should try another rooter. i installed z4root using the same method. i opened the program and it asked me if i wanted to re-root (because androot thinks it worked i assume) so i went ahead and hit re-root. it went through its process and says it worked as well.
yet, i still cannot install google earth because of the ATT security block. could i somehow be rooted but still have this security block? i don't see how, isnt that the purpose...to unrestrict the phone?
anyway, my x10a is still running 1.6 eclair and ive used sony ericsson's update service program to try upgrading to 2.1 and give it another try but their program says my phone is up to date when clearly my phone shows its firmware being 1.6. ive hit a brick wall with this...can anyone give me a sledge hammer? for the brick wall i mean, not the phone.
The reason you still cannot install non market apk's is that ATT has turned off the "install non market apps" by default at the factory. you are going to have to install a custom ROM in order to get away from the ATT branded phone. Google installing a ROM for X10. I did it on a friends phone a few weeks ago and got him up to 2.1.1
Good Luck!

well, i can install non market apk's...i installed both universal androot and z4root USING Android SDK. once installed, both of them say they can root the phone. now, i actually get asked whether i want some programs superuser access, and when i say yes--it allows it. i think my problem with google earth not installing via android sdk is that im still running android 1.6 and Earth requires at least 2.1. I don't see a x10 rom for 2.1 on the market to try it and ericsson update service still says im fully updated with the latest. if i can manage to get 2.1 i bet you i can install google earth and anything else that will run on 2.1. android sdk seems to be a viable workaround to the non market app restriction if im thinking about it right...i just need 2.1 now and continue using android sdk to install my 3rd party apps until a fully functional and stable 2.1+ custom rom comes out for the x10. anyone have any thoughts? give me a another 3rd party apk to install that will work with 1.6 and ill try to install it and see what my results are.

[Resolved] [Q] Rooted NooK tablet updated to 1.4.1 but still showing version 9.9.9

I rooted my Nook tablet per Indirect's guide and everything seemed to work flawlessly. I have the android market, and installed the Amazon market and messed around with things briefly before bed. Today various apps like busybox and and titanium backup are telling me they need root. Superuser is installed and my various markets still work fine.
I read Indirect's ENTIRE THREAD tonight at work and the only thing I could think maybe happened is similar to this recent post.
Im pretty much an android noob. My Nook Tablet shows version 9.9.9 Is there some way to verify I didnt update to 1.4.1 and break root while I was in the process of doing it or am I completely over looking something? I figured I would check here before trying to downgrade and reroot the Nook Tablet.
Hope I didnt leave anything out.
After some discussion on IRC and trying to su from terminal it appears that my Nook Tablet did update to 1.4.1 while I was rooting it.

[Q] Rooted Nook Tablet, No market

So I "successfully" rooted my Nook Tablet as per Indirect's instructions, but the NookandZergy batch did not give me any options to install any apps and my tablet basically performs exactly the same as before. When I run NookandZergy again, it says it's already been rooted, tries to do more, and tells me that I don't have the adb hijack followed by a prompt to block OTA's. It was pain in my rear just to get it to root in the first place and it seems to be all for naught and I don't want to have to re-root. Haven't found anyone else with this issue.
It was 1.4.0 and I followed and double-checked this process meticulously. May try to re-root anyway, but I expect much of the same.
I previously side-loaded Amazon App store, Go Launcher and a few other apps before the root if that could be an issue.
Solved?
So I un-rooted/factory-restored my Nook Tablet and re-rooted, this time with the wi-fi turned off and everything did as it was supposed to. I am gladly using my rooted tablet now. If anyone else has any issues, I believe I can help, so ask away.

MZ604 - Apparent perfect root installation process but no root !!!

Hi All,
Looking for a suggestion here. I have an MZ604 that has been sitting in my drawer. I eventually want to install a BigPart rom but I'm just getting started here. I've taken the following steps:
1) Unlocked bootloader. This went flawlessly.
2) Installed TWRPv2.8.0.0-Wingray-Non-BigPart on my Xoom. This went flawlessly.
3) Booted into recover and used TWRP to install "vanilla" Xoom-Universal-Root.zip. This also appeared to go flawlessly.
However, various root checker apps tell me I do NOT have root.
Please, any suggestions?
thanks,
Dave
