[Q] Eaglesblood F ***ed up my g2x, now it won't boot!!! - T-Mobile LG G2x

OK, So I followed ALL the instructions given here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1575199 (wipe/factory reset, wipe partition cache, wipe dalvik cache, install rom from sd card).
Got to the part of flashing the ROM to my phone, I downloaded all the files given on that page onto my sd card. In Clockwork Mod I kept getting an error saying "Unable to open file, aborting." Yeah that's right, Clockwork couldn't open the file (and yes I have the latest version). So I used the Rom Manager app to do the flashing. Apparently the Eaglesblood ROM failed to recognize the G'Apps version that is listed on eaglesblood page (when you click to download it gives you a different version than what you need) so it installed the ROM without G'Apps. Now, whenever I boot my phone I get the Eaglesblood logo and the phone shuts off. WTF?!!! This ROM totally F ***ed up my phone, Anyone help please? Seriously, I've never had problems of this magnitude with Android before. I've never completely F ***ed up my system to the point where it wouldn't boot, ever. But holy S *** this takes the cake!! Full restore it is, and I don't think I'll ever touch an Eaglesblood rom again...

I didn't have any problems. Did you try redownloading the file to make sure the zip wasn't corrupt? Did you format /system along with what you mentioned? The page links to the April 29 ICS GApps which is correct I don't see what issue you are having there. Can you not even boot to CWM anymore? This will resolve the boot issues putting the stock ROM back on: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1248644
If CWM couldn't open the zip what made you think using ROM Manager was the best thing to do? Seems more like user error that you're just blatantly blaming on the ROM

When CWM couldn't open the file, you probably just had a bad download, the zip was probably corrupt or something you probably just needed to redownload. And you used what pretty much every user in the G2x advises NOT to do, and that's use ROM Manager, it simply does NOT work on our phones and that is probably what messed your phone up and NOT the Eaglesblood ROM. just use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1248644 and it should fix your problem.
BTW next time don't bash a ROM if you didn't know what exactly is the cause of messing your phone up, in this case it was just pure user error. Try reading up next time, trust me it helps..

You do realize that we have literally tens of thousands of people running this ROM right? I can tell by your freakout post that you must be panicking however rest assured this is only a simple case of end-user error. If you'd like me to walk you through the installation steps I'd be more than happy to: [email protected].
Otherwise you may find more helpful support by posting this on the OP that has nearly 100 pages of user activity: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1575199
A device failing to boot is nothing to worry over; I intentially do it to mine, on purpose, several times a week. If you can't access CWM Recovery then that means you didn't install that properly either. If you hotFlashed your recovery using RomManager then this is way you can't quickly recover from a failed boot... You need to install CWM Recovery using the NVFlash tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1054492
The next time you softbrick yourself you'll have no trouble booting up into Recovery.
Sorry to see you're 1st post on XDA had to be a bad one, well welcome to the forum anyway. Hang in there bud, its frustrating for even the best of 'em when you first start off with custom ROMs; you'll be coaching others like yourself in no time. Had to be. Everybody that actually reads before rooting knows that you never use rom manager to flash anything on this phone. Research before you blame someone else for your mistake. At least boxer was cool enough to offer guidance.

Trouble installing CM7 on T-Mobile G2x.

I rooted the G2x, installed CWM using nvflash
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1108201
I bought the premium version of ROM Manager so that I can get access to the nightly builds. I choose the nightly build I want to install and select the google apps, I get to the clockwork recovery screen, it backsup data does MD5, and then format /cache /data and tries to install the ROM and it fails. I have tried this with #54-#58 and I get the same result. Can someone please point me in the right direction ?
and you created your own special thread for this why?
in my opinion, its faster and more helpful than search
Before you start downloading and flashing roms I suggest that you read through the entire first post of the nightly thread and after you are done re-read the post again then follow the links and re-re-read while you are flashing the roms. I myself am a newb to all this but I found that all of the information is already there if you just take your time and follow directions, and it will pay off in the end

I think he's being sarcastic although I could be wrong.
Sorry Guys did not mean to violate any rules here... I am just super frustrated right now. I have done Rom Manager CM7 installs some 5-6 times, the install process goes though backup, format /cache /data and then starts to install ROM and suddenly fails. Does CM7 nightly build install from Rom Manager work? I read though a ton of forum posts and looks like it is working for people or may be not... can some one point me to *A* thread that I can rely on to get CM7 on this G2X? Really really really appreciate your help on this.
ROM Manager is an inferior method of ROM flashing. Use NVFlash to flash ClockworkMod Recovery to your phone (NVFlash allows for a true flash rather than the application's fake flash) then when you want to flash a ROM (or do a backup, or anything else ROM manager does) just boot your phone into recovery (hold power and volume down until you see the green Android logo, trust me it will make sense) and do it from there.
I have never, ever, been able to get ROM Manager to work in flashing roms. Or for much of anything else for that matter. It's just better to do things directly.
Rooted the phone based on instructions from:
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/LG_Optimus_2X:_Rooting
Installed CWM from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1108201
Installed ROM manger premium,
adb push cm_nightlybuild.apk /sdcard
when I reboot to recovery I get /!\ with an andriod green logo. What do I do next ? seems like it wont go into recovery mode now... but when I reboot (pull the battery and press power button) I am able to boot into stock Andriod 2.2.
If your are running the rooted stock you should know when your download rom they will be downloaded on your internal memory and when rom manager boot into recovery it is not able to see your internal memory you should put the roms on your external SD card

[Q] Totally new to this..

I just got my Samsung Infuse 4G, and I'm very interested in learning to flash to improve the performance of my new toy, but I'm kinda intimidated lots to learn and seems like a steep "learning curve. Can someone point me in the right direction on a good place to start (good reading).
I'm most interested in using the Zeus ROM as it seems to not lose any functionality, uses the most current modem, allows for overclocking. Is there anything else I shouldn't flash with this ROM I've. heard things mentioned in other threads like, lag fixes, different kernels, and other various fixes. But like I said I'm a noob and have a ton of questions even about the most basic of topics.
All I've done thus far is installed the free version of ROM manager, used the flash Clockworkmod recovery, and used the backup current ROM (which would be the stock one). I'm a little scared to proceed as after I backed up the current ROM I went looking for the file I named but couldn't find it.
I think what I need most is a good starting point, any help is appreciated.

And definitely play with froyo. Feel and KNOW Android. Then you will know how your phone works and is supposed to play. You will appreciate the the custom roms all the more.

I'd recommend Titanium Backup & Dropbox, they've come in pretty handy for me. And pay close attention when instructions say to wipe! I'm pretty new at this too, but I grasped the importance of the wiping after reading through a few threads and seeing what happened to those who forgot/didn't.

Result of my first flash
OK I've done quite a bit of reading over the last 24 hours familiarized myself with how flashing is done. Thus far I've flashed first the Infusion Kernel found here forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1134995 using ROM manager with ClockWorkMod Recovery. Got a little worried at first because it took so long to boot afterwards , but thanks to qkster's noob post I kinda expected it, it helped me a lot, so again thank you for that.
I do have some minor problems and some questions. In ROM manager I selected the option to flash ROM from SDcard, it then prompts me to select the ZIP file to flash and after I select it it asks me what to wipe so I select everything, It then reboots into CWM. I then have to select again flash from SDcard and select the file, my question is am I supposed to have to re-select "flash from SDcard" and re-select the ZIP file to flash? When I flashed the Zeus ROM I didn't do any wiping in CWM because I had selected those options in ROM manager, is this a goof up on my part, was I supposed to wipe again once inside CWM? I ask this because it seems like nothing was wiped, all my apps were still there, settings, pretty much everything. I also have an error right after I boot the phone up and my desktop is loaded, I then get a pop up thats really quick maybe 10 seconds
Code:
The application android system (process system) has stopped unexpectedly please try again[CODE] with a force close button. Everything seems to work fine on the phone so I'd like to know what this error is about, is it linked to me not wiping everything once in CWM?
There is also some instructions for the Zeus ROM that I didn't understand regarding the swype keyboard not installing with the flash and I had an error pertaining that as well. The instructions on the Zeus ROM read as follows [QUOTE]This theme includes a themed swype keyboard (Thanks to nunhugger and studacris). After flash of the theme, Do not open swype, go to root explorer and install it, then it will work flawless. For some reason it will not install on flash, but its all good.
[/QUOTE]
This instruction is listed for the Aries theme (which I tried first) not the ICS revamped, but I'm having the same issue. How do I install Swipe via root explorer. I also really liked the Samsung keyboard any way to get that back? I did use titanium backup for a lot of my apps (haven't restored anything yet, as everything seems to still be there) but I'm not sure I did for the Samsung keyboard. Anyone have an .APK of it they can get to me?
Any help with my issues is greatly appreciated, keep in mind though I'm still a noob so instructions given that a 10 year old can follow are preferred.:p My wife likes the look of my phone now and wants me to do hers too, so I want to make sure I do it right, it's one thing to brick your own phone, quite another to brick your wife's.

If you are running zeus without problem, you must have done something right. The force close when booting up its normal. It will go away when you leave it alone 5 minutes.
You had mentioned that you used ROM Manager, try to avoid that program to flash. Wipe may be ok, idk. I don't use it. I usually wipe or flash in cwm.
In gtg post in the QA, the is a pin up on his original infused ROM thread. Use the cwm installation instruction.
The kernels are in that link.
In order to install something via Root Explorer, you should have that program. You can buy it from Market ....or look for it. When you run it, go to /system/app find the zombie Swype, and install it by click on it. You don't necessarily have to use root explorer, ES Explorer from Market will work as well. Root explorer is a better tool for modding.
Here is another Swype.

[Q] Mishandled ROM Upgrade

I am relatively new at ROMs and I installed CyanogenMod 10 on my AT&T HTC One X (US) a couple of months ago. Recently, I tried upgrading to the M2 release of CM10.1 using the evita package which I understand is the US version of the ROM. I followed the same instructions I used to install 10.0 for 10.1. However, the installation froze and did nothing for a few minutes and gave me the message "no MD5 file found". I shut the phone down and restarted, but the phone would no longer start. I did a "system wipe" to get ride of the OS so I could re-install it, but now, my computer won't recognize my phone when I connect them and I can't move the CM10.1 zip file from my desktop to my phone. I have nothing already on the phone I can flash besides Team Win Recovery Project which is what I use for Recovery. I have no recovery files.
Did I just paperweight my phone, or is there a way to salvage this situation.

If you can get into recovery then you aren't bricked just yet! If you have an sd card reader on your computer or know somebody who does thats one way you could get a new rom on your phone to flash. Most recoveries have a way to let you connect your phone to your computer for file transfer while in recovery. I believe in TWRP the option is in the Mount are. I could be wrong though. You just need to figure out how to get a new Rom on your phone. If none of the above work, one trick that has always worked for me, would be to put your sd card into someone elses phone, and download a known working rom onto your sd card via theyre phone, and just put it back into your phone. Hope i helped. Let me know how it goes man. I've been here before haha

I went into TWRP Mount and it allowed me to mount the phone. I went ahead and did that, but Windows told me that I had to format the disk. I agreed and Windows formatted it. Afterwards, I successfully copied over the CM10.1 Evita M2 zip file and the lates Gapps zip file. I then went to TWRP's install section and flashed both zips. TWRP told me both happened succesfully. However, while flashing over the CM10.1 file, it told me that no MD5 file was found and that it was just going to skip that. Then, it formatted some mke5 partition and then went ahead and finished. I wiped the Dalvik cache and the system Cache and restarted the phone. It is currently stuck at the "HTC Quietly Beautiful" intro screen and won't boot past that. Is there something I missed?
If that 10.1 already failed because of an MD5 problem, I wouldn't have tried to flash it again - the file probably has some problems in itself and either needs to be re-downloaded or just won't work.
Just flash the stock firmware or something - and use an MD5 checking program.

The thing is TWRP returned the status as successful despite missing the MD5 file. I'll try flashing over another package and if that doesn't work, I'll try flashing over CM10. If that still doesn't work, I'll just do stock firmware if I can find it somewhere, I guess.
In the future, making a backup is really awesome. Not saying that like "I told ya so" - but I've used them so many times myself, it's really great to say, "oops, I overlooked something" and then be able to just go back to a perfect snapshot of how things were before.
Also, how long did you let the phone sit at the boot screen ? It can hang for quite a while on the first boot.

Yeah I would just reflash a ROM that you've used before and that you know works. Chances are if the cm10.1 didn't work the first time its probably not going to the second time. And he has a point. First boot always takes forever. I've flashed a couple ROMs and thought I was bootlooped but I let it sit for a good 5-10 minutes and the setup screen finally came up.

I had no idea that it could take that long. I guess I'll just turn my phone on and see if it wants to start. I'll leave it going for a good five to ten minutes this time. Shutting the phone down while its still in the intro screen doesn't damage the OS, does it? Thanks for the advice so far guys, I really appreciate it.

[Q] LG Motion (Possible Cyanogen mod?)

Hey everyone! I would like to start off by saying that I am brand new here, and am surely going to mess up quiet alot... But here goes,
I've recently rooted my phone with a very simple guide, and it's the first device I've every rooted. So I know very little of the process of doing so, (I'm learning slowly).
I also have found a rom that I would like to install, but I would love to know if others think it seems legit? If it is real, I know many people would absolutely love to use it! The rom's URL is (ht tp:// playfuldroidz.com /wiki/ CyanogenMod_10_Motion) (Please remove spaces, sorry as I said i'm new...)
Now I don't mind testing this myself, but being as new as I am at android I honestly do not know how to follow the relatively simple instructions.
(This Is where I need some help, Please be noob cautious!)
Download the .zip & copy to phone or sdcard (make sure 4g or wifi is enabled if dl'd from phone).
Zip can be installed from either internal or external sd in CWM (Which ever you copied it too!)
MAKE A BACKUP!!!
DO A FACTORY RESET!!! - this will wipe data & cache!
Go to install zip from sdcard
Choose zip from sdcard
Select cm-10-xxxxxxxxxx-UNOFFICIAL-l0.zip
Confirm
Repeat Steps 5 -8 for gapps
Reboot
Now my first question I'd love some help with, is how do I perform this backup there talking about? do they just mean my simple go into settings and click backup? Or should I do it some otherway?
Second question: Do they mean the phones built in service of factory reset?
Third Question: To install a Zip from an SD card do I need to simply use ES file explorer, or root file browser? Or is there a custom way to install a Zip file on android?
Fourth and final Question: What is gapps..? Is this something I should get or use?
EDIT: I've got a fifth one also... Thanks to anyone who's stayed this long and is willing to help me.! Will this Cyanogen mod (If working) Work almost exactly like a real nexus Operating system? I've got a nexus 7 tablet running stock android, and I love it! That's why I'm doing this to my phone honestly.
Thank you all greatly!

Question 1,2 and 3.. they are all done through Clockworkmod. Look through the menus you'll see it if you still struggle look on YouTube.
Question 4.. gapps is Google Apps you need to flash this after the ROM to get the play store and all the other standard Google apps.
Question 5.. in your eyes pretty much, it'll look the same but with more features obviously.
Thank you alot!
Thanks! now i've only gotta do one last thing, and see if anyone knows whether or not this website is a reliable source, or atleast if the mod works...

I was just wondering if there's a chance this clock work mod thing doesn't work on my phone? I don't really know how, or where it is either... and I'd love some help with that... Thank you!
(Edit) I don't think there is a clockwork mod for my device... According to the Rom Manager app I was told to use for installing it.

If you did what it said in the instructions *root it, cwm, install custom rom* then after installing the custom rom it has it's own cwm. turn off the phone, turn in back home and press the back and home button together at the same time and it should take you to the rom's cwm. If the phone does a factory reset by pressing the back and home button then you did the installation wrong.
But just in case I'll setup a full instruction for you.
Root your phone.
Which can be done easily, just download this and extract the files: http://www.mediafire.com/?dhdbwflnl1vknx2
once you extract the files put your phone on debugging mode which can be done by going to settings, developer mode, and click usb debug.
once you've done that connect your phone to the pc *make sure it's on charge only* wait for driver installation to finish. once that's done click root. follow instructions on the screen it shouldn't be too hard! after following instructions you should be rooted and have cwm. but to install the recovery go to your apps and find lte 2nd init recovery and then click the top button, agree to super su to use it and you're done with rooting and cwm! now. these files you were talking about, download them and put them on sd which can be done with a file manager. after they've downloaded go to the lte 2nd init and click the bottom button. it will reboot the phone and take you to cwm. While you are in cwm click on the home button to go to external which is the sd, then go to backup and restore, and click backup! this is very important. miss this step and things could go bad. Now all you have to do is follow the instructions you posted yourself and you should be done! if you need any help don't hesitate to message me. I've done this for a long time now.
Whoops forgot to add. the website IS a reliable source. Learned that cause I'm a risk taker and decided to try it out myself. and do not use rom manager or anything like that for recovery. ever. especially on phones that do not have their own recovery mode. also. the CM10 works great in my opinion! But there's a catch. for me at least. even though everything is perfect during phone calls I cannot use my 4g. which is a bad thing for me cause I need it. other than that if that doesn't bother you or anything or don't have service then knock yourself out and install the cm10!
COMPLETED) This mod worked, all things are now finished except one small issue!
So after installing the mod with some great help of someone here on this forums, I've been basically beta testing the mod for a few days. I have nearly no complaints, as almost everything works seemlessly just like you'd except the operating system to. In the end I found one single issue though, which is terribly annoying for me in specific...
My GPS isn't working, which could be one of many things other than the rom. Seeing as I only recognized It yesterday, there may be an outside reason it at random shut off. If anyone know's what can cause this, and a fix for it please comment back!
Thanks to everyone who helped with installing the mod

Please help me with the rom
Hey guys not sure if i am suppose to post this here but i couldnt find any where else and i couldnt find an answer with my exact problem, i installed this rom on my moms lg motion and everything went find untill i got to gapps it came up with an error inside of cwm so i just contined all the other flashes i had to do and rebooted i thought that i could just flash gapps later. But i mad a very big booboo i installed the Recovery APK for it in cm 10 i forgot all about pressing reboot and saying reboot into revocovery so i was going to try it though the Recovery APK so i installed the thing and pressed reboot and instead of taking me into recovery it takes me to a screen that says something like "mourning call error" which i dont know what means but i had to take out the battery and turn the phone back on so that worked and i got back to the home screen but i still cant install gapps so she can use all the google sevices i tried rebooting with the built in reboot into recovery (the one that you press reboot when you hold the power button) and that does the same exact thing i have no way of flashing gapps or anything else for that matter can someone please help me i have no idea what to do. everything i working on the phone but that. thank you sorry if i put this in the wrong place.
Confused my droid using this method- would love in on this thread
Sorry if I'm posting in the wrong place-punch me if I have-
I rooted my lgms770 with version f firmware- installed cwm and 2ndinit recovery (2nd init was the only known way (to me anyway) to get into cwm at the time) followed this guide ---
[LgMotion All Things root] and
[GUIDE] Unbrick OR Unroot LG Motion 4G [KDZ] - Android Forums
I am not allowed to post urls yet...sorry...its the the first google hit
I've tried multiple versions of the official LG Firmware flash, from the website, and by following this guide-
AOKP Dirty Unicorns baseless port cm10 - Android Forums Actually, its the unicorns that got me.
With no luck there. I am running Mint16, and had to run the programs through Wine of course, then tried Q4wine, and eventually tried running though Oracle VM, and finally, I wiped my ancient dell of Linux altogether and put WinXP back on it (took 2 hours, that). No cigar. And yes, I did the drivers, all in order, etc, tried again, reinstalled etc
I finally set up adb to try to get into this droid that way, but am having problems with port permissions (I'm going to guess that's on my pc's end-running Mint16)
I can access the factory reset screen (the black and white), download mode, and the battery charges on a black screen with a nice purple font, but I am still stuck in a bootloop. I've employed all known button spamming combos to get back into cwm (there is a nandroid in there somewhere)..but alas...
Help me Obi-Wan-Kenobi's..
Peach
I had the purple letters with no way to get to the factory reset screen i just used the lg online flash tool in upgrade recovery put in the imei of the phone in made sure the phone was in usb download mode then it was fixed but for some odd reason i still cant get my phone to the factory reset option. I apologize sincerely if I wasn't detailed enough if you need any clarification on it then let me know through pm or i could even send u a link to my box folder i keep the install files in.
(Also i have a one click root app for the LGMS770 So if you or anyone would like the link i would be happy to give it to you)

Looking for one as well. I have not found one.
Recovery is actually preinstalled
I found this just tooling around. Use your favorite file browser, I used
Total commander. /system/vender/itson
The zip file is there. Hope this helps. (Rooted LG ls620)
Could you explain in a little better detail on what you mean Enigmatic177... I'm pulling my hair out Hehe
If anyone makes or finds a working recovery please post it.
Itson is a zip file that was installed after last update it has the basics to unlock the boot loader. I unpacked it used Rom toolbox pro rebooted to RECOVERY did regular reboot system upgraded.
A couple if bit mapp errors 11111. Then I basically flashed CWM.
Before you do this the partitions change from ext2-ext4. I'd advise
Backing them up.

TWRP recovery help L620 LG Realm
hello I followed the steps in the read me file and i succeeded in installing twrp although im having troubles booting up to my system os. when i power on my device it takes me straight to twrp. i have a feeling i might of missed a step. i tried creating a backup but i cant because i noticed my screen turns off fast. do you think you might know what might be the problem why i cant boot up to my os? thanks!
I think i know what seems to be the problem. I think i might have accidentally replaced the boot img with the twrp recovery img. i did not make a backup before this happened. is there anything i can do to make my phone boot up to its normal image? thanks
Nope. It is officially a paperweight and no one I know of has access to the stock ROM either.

Hey
Has anybody found a custom rom?
Finally. Easy as pie
Ok, I downloaded an image (w5c_twrp_bumped.img)
put that img on the root of my sd card
downloaded Rashr from the google play store
opened rashr and tapped 'recovery from storage', navigated to external sd and tapped the image and tapped
ýes please'
flashed it. after the flash the phone rebooted into the twrp recovery.
then just rebooted back into the system
worked perfectly.
im new here im not allowed to post outside links yet, just google "w5c_twrp_bumped.img" should take you to a link for a download of that recovery
i got twrp now as a custom recovery. on my lg realm.

You have the bumped recovery so all i can say if u messed up is to flash a stock rom u can find on google i had to re flash mine a few times messing with root
right on, thanks for the info. I had no problems at all. it all fell in place like i was hoping. The Realm is the easiest device Iv ever rooted, flashed, and messed with. Well, as far as rooting and flashing a custom recovery. dunno bout roms though. Im sure its simple?

OK, I grabbed and extracted this. I used Flashify to simply flash the recovery (w5c_twrp_bumped.img) and it works like a dream on my LG Realm.
OTOH, trying the same on an Exceed 2 gets me TWRP, but it cannot mount much of anything and the backup fails. After failing, it tells me "No OS found, continue?" I continue and get the message "Appears your device has no Root, install now?' I am absolutely certain I have root, or wouldn't even be able to run Flashify, so I continue and it simply boots into the OS just fine. Perhaps the readme isn't complete, as I see the following file in the extracted folder (resources.zip) with no explanation of why it's there. It "appears" to be a flash-able zip that installs "itson" (whatever THAT is). Note that the Realm has this in the /system/vendor/itson, yet the Exceed 2 doesn't.
Have you actually used this on an Exceed 2? And if so, what am I missing here?

I'll do you one better. Just forget about the post you replied to, as it's convoluted as hell. Install TWRP 2.8.6 from here. Ignore the big red warning about the Realm, as he evidently hasn't updated the OP. You can view my notes regarding the Realm in this reply. Tested several times and verified working better than anything else available. Easiest recovery to install I've ever dealt with (all done with an .apk). The option to access via cold boot (battery pull procedure) is something to behold
Be sure to thank the developer, even if you need to create an account to do so. Very VERY nice work!

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Before you replied I installed the version 2.8.5 from here:
http://androidforums.com/threads/twrp-2-8-5-0-for-realm-ls620-and-exceed-2-vs450pp.908704/
Is 2.8.6 better? Looks like the 2.8.5 can't be booted into via key combo from power off? Are there any other differences? I just used the Rashr flash tool from the market to flash 2.8.5. Worked flawlessly. This is actually my mom's phone and it wanted to do a system upgrade but I wanted to back it up first so that's the reason I wanted a recovery.
Pretty cool though, this recovery installs just via an APK!!!? That's amazing!
I'm tempted to install this on her phone next time she comes over... it should be fine right?
Thanks again!!!!!!!!!!

That one will cold boot with the battery pull procedure too. A little further down that thread you'll see I modded it to work correctly with the Exceed 2 in addition to the Realm. I like the 2.8.6 better if only that the dates of the backup are correct now. The 286.apk will work fine and overwrite your current recovery. If you leave it installed, you can always open it and reboot to recovery from within the app. If I have more time I'll post a screenshot, but running late for work. I think the screen dimming/timeout issue was fixed as well, but I haven't verified that. I normally disable that in TWRP anyway, as I like to monitor what it's doing during a backup/restore in case of errors.
