This is actually a GioNee GN868.I have uploaded the stock recovery of the a90s to the a90 thread. suugest that this thread be contonued there as there is not going to be any a90 going forward but only a90s

Voila. Successful in installing cwm in Micromax A90s finally. for root user only:angel:.
1 install mobile uncle tool from google play store
2 copy the attached cwm recovery image to your SD card
3 open mobile uncle tool and grant superuser permission
4 Flash recovery from SD card

Get more space in /data !!3GB!! and decimate /sdcard2
So you have a nice big sdcard and the internal /mnt/sdcard2 of 1.9 gb looks like wasted space to you. never fear , with cwm installedand a special update I have created you can get 2.8 GB /data and reduce sdcard2 to 30MB. Note this is for micromax a90s and doing this kind of stuff without understanding can destroy yr phone , ruin your life , force divorce with wife etc... then don't blame me...

take full cwm backup ( to be safe take a couple).
then apply the zip from cwm.
after this restore back from the backup...
reboot the phone.
You may have to restore twice. for some reason the first time restore did not work correctly for me , but second time all was fine !!

Actually its a spanish rom based on jelly bean but the configuration almost matches with A90s and a110

Try using Player Pro from the play store. It's my default music player for overa year. And comes with a built-in equalizer.

there is one more way i guess. we might nEed some one who can mod. it worked on karbonn a9 by altering smali files. it might work here.
the resolution bump was quite high. from 320x240 to almost ~720p(i dont have exact value but its less than 720 p)
and lg camera was nt able to shoot at that resolution.
so we might be in luck here

Is ClockWorkMod recovery absolutely necessary? Aren't there any tools to flash Micromax devices from pc? As Micromax devices come pre-rooted, things should be easy. Are there any devices compatible with A90 , so that their ROMs could be used?

Yup cwm is necessary but A90 doesnt comes rooted.And yes the specs are almost same as karbonn A18 & their rom can be used

and i need to ask another thing that is off d topic, ive seen the a90 in action and the dual core a90s too, my uses in the phone will be just surfing the net, stock browser or opera , the IM apps , skype , music sometimes if player runs outa juice, sms , calls, wifi hotspot and youtube.. all the normal purposes and am not at all intrested in gaming in a phone, will the single core mmx a90 be good and smooth enough?? ..the mmx a90s isnt fully pure ics theme, thts why am bit botherd , like d pure android ics or jelly bean.

There isn't much price difference between both,right? And the dual core a90 is a newer model. According to the current trend in market, the newer a device(especially Android devices) is, the more advanced will it be and higher will be its value-for-money.
And for the UI part. Its pretty easy to go back to Stock Android UI, as UI isn't hard coded into the system(unlike other OS's). UI is for the most part Launcher and Status Bar. These can be just installed like normal apps. Status Bar may need to be installed as System app. You don't need to flash anything(but you may need root!). I don't know much about themes and icons.

No im not using a custom rom but i hope we'll soon get cwm.As regard to A90 i havent faced a single problem with processor or ram even if using multiple apps,browser or wifi.Wifi is very fast.If you are buying a new one i will suggest you the A90s(as newer is better).But i suggest if you are not a heavy gaming fan u can go for A90.In A90s u can use custom launcher & custom icons if u dont like the ui

the karbonn a18 got pure stock ics, but they dnt have those software android buttons, and i hate to hold the physical home button to bring out the running apps list, but the a90 has amoled and the software buttons, dam easy to see the running apps by clicking the dedicated running soft button,thr has been these rumors tht mmx will provide a90 and a100 later with jelly bean update, hope its true, custom launcher- i dnt know, wont it eat the ram for custom themes?

Holo launcher hd doesnt have themes.Its da best launcher.Theme doesnt eat ram they just theme ur icons & dont remain in background.The themed icons will remain there even if uninstall the theme but not launcher.Hope so well get JB

Root A90S
Thanks to Mr. Evil for rooting A90 link. But Er, that was for A90. bgohil7 asked for A90S rooting. Is A90S, pre-rooted for adb?If not,do the following code on terminal or adb shell :
echo ro.secure=0 >/data/local.prop
It works for stock ICS, but not for Jelly Bean onwards(as told by Dan Rosenberg, the researcher who discovered this exploit). You can use PC Suites like Android Commander, QtADB,etc in root mode with adb root.If you get adb root, just push su and Superuser.apk to /system/bin and /system/app through adb to root the device manually.
Edit: The link given by Mr.Evil uses Bin4ry's root tool, which works on nearly all ICS/JB devices. So, it'll work on A90S too. I was looking for a way to root my tab when i update to Jelly Bean. Now, i can happily update.

just one more thing, so many people are comnplaining abt the volume of the a90 very low during video recording or volume of ringer low or the handset speaker volume low, u faced anyprobs related to volume?

I came across karbonn a18 and saw that both have almost same chipset and hardware.

Micromax devices are usually prerooted for adb i.e, if you connect the device to pc and use adb or a tool based on adb, you'll get root access. It will be indicated by a # prompt in adb shell. If you don't get it by default, type su command on shell and you'll get root access most probably. Check if your device have in-built su by using a root checker on device.
In any of the above cases, you can easily root the device by copying superuser.apk and it's su binary to device through adb.

kitchen cooked rom wont flash
downloaded the stock rom zip file from micromax's ftp server and tried to cook it the kitchen, but after all the procedure when i flashed the rom it aborted due to some reason "status 0". My device was rooted with cwm recovery installed, i signed all apks after changing them, and followed every procedure that has to be followed to build the rom.
Can someone suggest what went wrong or is it so that rom cooked in kitchen wont flash on our device?

U replied me to an unasked question.
I asked if we can flash karbonn a18 rom onto our device or not, my device is already rooted with cwm installed.
Check dmesg for compatibility
I meant get the dmesg at boot time of Micromax A90 and Karbonn A18. It could contains valuable information about the device using which you could decide if they're incompatible. My friend on XDA who had the same tablet as me but with a slight change in model number found out minor differences between the models by checking dmesg at boot time. My tab's firmware couldn't properly operate the other tab's g-sensor.

I wanted to ask you a question that in my A89, i can't get to recovery mod, so is it normal. I mean when i press power+vol up it just shuts down and when i press vol down+ power it sticks at "NINJA" logo and shows a small text - meta mode.

I wanted to ask you a question that in my A89, i can't get to recovery mod, so is it normal. I mean when i press power+vol up it just shuts down and when i press vol down+ power it sticks at "NINJA" logo and shows a small text - meta mode.

which recovery installed in your device right now.......?? if you are in stock recovery then flash CWMR ..........
OR if you are in CWMR then first flash Stock Recovery i already attach Stock recovery if anything gone wrong.....
first flash stock recovery using same methods of CWMR then flash CWMR again
Hope you got CWMR in your device
Btwn when u press Volume Down + Power Buttons Device gone in Bootloader mode or Download mode or Engineer mode its depends on Hardware Built.....

How to Boot Device in Recovery Mode......???
For Booting in to recovery mode i have give this guides for who still dont know how to boot device in recovery mode.......??
power off your device Press and Hold Volume UP Key + Press and Hold Power on Key until Boot Logo Show Up then release Power on Key and Hold Volume Up key Until u not show CWM or TWRP Recovery Screen in your Device.......
boot device in Recovery mode using ADB Commands
Connect your device in PC while Active USB Debugging Mode
Now Locate your Android SDK folder
for mine ( C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk\platforms-tools )
now type those commands
Note :- always hit enter after entering Commands

now your device automatically Reboot in to Recovery mode.......its depends which recovery are installed in your device if your in TWRP then its show up TWRP recovery if you are in CWMR then its show CWM recovery if your in stock Recovery then its show stock recovery screen

As far as i know the Micromax Canvas A110 has the same specifications as the Micromax Ninja A89 except for the larger same res 5" screen an 8mp cam and double the internal memory.

We need Custom Boot.img for Booting JB in Micromax A89 ....n still we dont have kernel sources of this device even we still dont know which original clone one of A89...?? JB still dream.... but not impossible.....wait and stay in touch for more Good News

not only same chipset and same device but the original one like mmx a110 its clone of Mobitel and like A90s is clone of Gionee GN868H
we dont know which device is clone of A89.....?? if we know then we also search for their device custom rom or kernel sources.... for better developments......... like mmx Mobitel is already found their kernel sources thats why they have JB update and A90s not have Any JB ROM still cuz Gionee Not released their kernel source still.....

One things i personally feel it.......... that A89 not stuck on ICS only forever but need patience for JB until kernel source not released or not found....
n for custom ROM ICS one almost Ready i just make Flashable Stock ROM which are highly customized need some more patience for test and checking lags cuz i found wifi issue so plz w8 and stay in touch for more news.............

A90S struck at boot logo.
was on shahulakthar's megamax V1 rom,
CWM v6.0.1.2
Wanted to install your rom, but mistakenly downloaded the beta version of it and installed and it worked. After I realized that it was beta, I downloaded the correct version and installed. Now its struck at boot logo.
Now I went back to megamax.
So... what did I do wrong here and how can I fix it???

OOPS.... I'm so sorry man, ignore my earlier post. Out of utter excitement I totally missed the requirement part. . will do it later tonight.
But I have to say, the blu vivo 4.3 is quite confusing dude... should we backup IMEI???
I think due to this update of JB everyone had forgot your zhaolight V5 ICS update but still i wanna give review about dat,perhaps we are now on JB I wanna give you Salute for your BEST ROM TILL DATE ZHAOLIGHT V5. Its incredibly awesome bro. When I first installed it just make me feel like am on JB you have done a brilliantly good job regarding this ROM. I am again planning to switch back to your old ROM coz its totally bug free n gaming n other things were awsome in it. Now coming to this rom i dont know y but whenever i reboot to system it lag on the bootscreen n slow as compare to Stock JB. Walkman sometimes doesnt work at all and I liked the feature of Google Now but you have removed it so i have to installed it again but its not a big concern. Finally i wanna say that i vl stick to your ZhaoLightV5 untill I got a better update on JB. Thanks for your hard work and I know Its not an easy task to make such ROM's.

Did the same as u have told but bootscreen is still laggy n now when i try to change wallpaper it reports "unfortunately 3d stereo wallpaper has stoped." Plz look into this n rest everything is smooth.

I am having stock unrooted ICS v 4.0.4.I haven't rooted ever. Please can you let me know the steps. I dont think CWM is also available in the stock rom. Can I install Bluevivo without rooting or without using CWM.

bootlogo means bootanimation ?
if yes then already added that to my rom.
greenify app is available on play store and people can install them easily from there ..
i will not add grenify app but bootlogo is of cm9 styled...

Whats i liked most in your rom is you made notification bar icons useful. I hate thats Samsung blocking mode and scree rotation icons at starting places

volume button change music tracks
option to boot into recovery
remove wakelocks they drain a lot of battery
sound mod for awesome sound
option for screenshot in power menu

I would like to suggest u to focus on pure performance & leave look to stock like or even minimalistic.
There r many others like pmp who try best with theming but when it comes to free ram & speed then sometimes stock even beat them.
I would like at last free 250 Mb ram after app install & this is possible if everything is minimalistic
If u want to provided theme etc give it as add-on package if cwm
Other extra function handy will be-;
14 toggle bar
Transparent lockscreen
Button led support but with battery optimization as it eats battery sometime
Add WiFi direct & hotspot button in status bar
Crossbreader with easy bypass option to bypass operator DNS
& use Google DNS
GPS script mod to help GPS fix quick in India or atleast an add-on for India
Overclock to 1.19 ghz
Good governs & scaling
I think it will made it best
Most important is RAM

Installation Process

2. Reboot into CWM Recovery.
3. Wipe Data / Factory Reset.
4. Clear Cache Partition.

6. Mount and Format /system
7. Install ROM zip from SD card (don't Reboot immediately)
8. Install Kernel zip from SD card (needed for 4.1 users)
9. Reboot and You have have been upgraded !!!

Before we begin tech stuff
Finally after lot of itch, I was able to use one of the available ROM from Canvas2 and bang my head for weeks to make it work on
Lava Iris 501, its a beta release and apart from Hardware fixes, every Credit goes to "captain_nemo"
Without him been able to make it work on Micromax Canvas 2 (A110) I couldn't have made it for Lava Iris 501.
Apart from captain_nemo, "SuperDroid-BOND" came as a SANTA much before x-mas to Solve a major issue
and his kind helping tweak made me use this ROM as day-to-day ROM.
He is very kind and people like him makes XDA a much better place for newbies too.
Lastly another user "imsurazz" is one who has kept reminding me about making the ROM available to XDA users
and his beta testing friendly team, He kept on PM'ing me, and frankly speaking I liked it, although I was not online most of the days
but his efforts caught me to upload it for the sake of MTK 6577 devices and friends on Lava Iris 501.
He too really deserves many thanks.

Good work dude.. Good to see 4.2.2 for iris 501.. Even i have worked on android 4.2.2 a bit and got almost fully functional ROM but there is some problem with the compass and camera sensor.. Though camera is working but the pictures taken are too dark.. And i'm not able to figure out what problem is.. If you have any idea then please let me know as well.. Autofocus is working fine..

for Camera, can someone try the extracted camera from newer devices.
I am currently not much online but I think Camera from LEWA OS should work fine with the ROM i ported.
will try camera mods this weekend and post back.

I don't think thats so easy to use everything from Iris501 and flash it on 455 that easily. I am sure hardware specs would be different for both
models and it will certainly lead to BOOTLOOP or even BRICK.

Put your kernel and give a try. even if it boots u will have lots of bugs
I download patch and try also, no use. After patch camera work great, headset icon also work. But message and apk install not work. Play store also say error code 101 . So need patch
