[Q] I need Help IMEI - Samsung Galaxy Tab Plus

Hello,
Well I just brought a Galaxy Tab Plus 7 P6200L (Latin version) because I can use 850Mhz 3G.
Now my problem which I am having is I want this to be my 3G tablet but with my IMEI, AT&T is detecting it as a phone. It does have the phone functionality but I just want it to be a tablet, basically is $30 difference in plans.
Any suggestion on how to go around this? Or could someone be kind enough to pm me just any tablet IMEI so I can use it for tablet plan.
Thanks in advance.

They are simply trying to upsell you, because they are very greedy,
There should be absoluely no resaon why they wont let you use this with a data only sim card. Yeah IMEI I can understand, but what does this say about their business? If it is so hard to offer data only to a cell phone?
I say keep trying to talk to managers, or find an att rep here on xda and politely PM them,
Just whatever you I hope dont ruin it for the rest of us att tab plus owners.
You know because the cariers refuse to acknowledge a cell phone and a tablet can exist in one.
Peace.

How to Change HTC TYTN II imei?

Hi all,
I really need to change my HTC TYTN II imei. Can anyone help me on this? Is there any software I can get from this forum to change my imei myself? Hope you all can guide me on this.
Changing your IMEI is seriously illegal in several countries.

Why you want to change imei, did you steal it,and you dont want the oparator tracking you.to change imei is ilegal.
Anything in this forum/site that is deemed illegal such as software or hacks will get you banned and the thread removed. Do you understand what the IMEI is used for? I can see if your device got hacked as many places such as Brazil had this problem with the TDMA/CDMA network. GSM is more secure but still not perfect. If you think you got hacked then loose the device and talk to your service provider right away as changing the International Mobile Equipment Identity will not help!
If you are on GSM and use a SIM card, most all wireless providers will not require you to register your IMEI. How many iPhones are in Canada on the Rogers network? And has Rogers nailed anyone for having one? Your SIM is what GSM networks use to ID you and your usage, not the phone. I would not be using an AT&T Tilt if IMEI would black list me from my provider and force me to use one of their (somewhat) outdated and poor selection of full featured phones...

I see an old NES Conrta fan here
I tried that and I still don't have unlimited lives.. er,... minutes on my phone
ya, still play it now and then. I was hoping someone would try this on their phone then post that's it's not working for them.
Which I then would have replied
you must first downgrade your rom to windows mobile 4.9
then upgrade your radio to version 1.66
remove your battery
reinsert your battery
try the code again
..hehe jokes

it wont work if you haven't unlocked first!!!
proevoguy, u must install hardSPL first
after that you must downgrade to WinMobile 4.7
, then search registry for IMEI
if you haven't install hardSPL, the key is hidden
mmm why is this thread is not locked??
lol
People want to change imei doesn't mean he/she is using a stolen phone. I want to change my imei just because I don't want AT&T to know I am using a PDA phone w/ their non-pda data plan

I was actually want the same thing because AT&t's plan for this phone is like 64.99 a month, which is just outrageous.
for those that care, i used an 8525 for 7 months before it broke and att never said a word about the fact that i didn't have a pda plan, when i took the phone in they asked if i wanted to register my new phone with them without changing my plan and it didn't cost me a dime, i was previously on a nokia 6030i as far as they knew

Same for me and Rogers. They had the Motorola 320, and Nokia 6820b in their database. Those 2 I got for next to nothing as I renewed my plan both times. The phone after those, I bought direct from HP as I was outsourced by them and got a good discount when buying the HW6955 (HTC Sable) through them and not Rogers (kept my old plan and the phone was factory unlocked too). Next is my current phone: AT&T Tilt, again bought the phone from some place other than Rogers and kept my old plan. If you got the phone for free or discounted, you will be forced into a new plan and the plan will always match the type of your phone. That is why you never buy from your cellphone provider. My 3 dollar internet plan I added long ago, only covered text based sites which matched my very old Motorola 320 So I axed that 3 dollar service from my plan. The guy was surprised to find out the last 2 phones were not on his list With what our providers have to offer for phones, Canada is way behind everyone else (can you say September for iPhone? And that is a maybe). Rogers added Tytn to their fleet of phones when everyone else was getting ready for the TyTN II. They still offer the original TyTn and still no plans for a Kaiser. We will get the Diamond but only after the rest of the world has warn them out. So in short: buy your phone in full and avoid a contract renewal. In the long run, you will still save money and avoid being put in their database.
yeah. It is very slow in Canada. However, I phoned Fido for their additional $7 dollars all you can browse service plan, it is required to registered your IMEI with Fido. Or I should said it this way, Fido only allows the IMEI on their list to sign up for that plan. That means without changing the IMEI, you are not eligible for that plan. I know some of the people change the IMEI on their Iphone just to use that data plan.
well the poster should
explain why they want to change their IMEI no reason just makes it all seem aloof to me!

And that is not "stealing" how?
I have often wondered - I think that it is the RIAA that made it illegal to "break copy protection schemes" - in other words to remove code that was designed to protect a program or music or software. In this forum we "remove" bits that keep us from installing ROMs - technically this would put us in violation of this?
We get away with it because?
1. it is our purchased phone and we can do with it what we want?
2. we don't sell the software that we make (ROMS)
I am pretty sure that is we change the IMEI numbers and enable someone to hurt provider's revenue stream that this will be the straw that breaks the camels back and they will go after the culprits.
My two bits worth...
proevoguy - the forum will generally not discuss IMEI changing as it is highly illegal in most countries. Please search for "get you sore" for some info on why most people won't assist you on this. Personally I'm not against the technical discussion of IMEI changing, but as it is such a dangerous subject, it's best not to touch it.
I'm going to lock the thread, but leave it visible, so if anyone wants to help you privately they can. Just don't forget to lube up first if you get caught with an IMEI changed phone.

[Q] Total noob here. Have some questions.

So, I have wanted to be able to mess around with phones for a while, and figured this could be a good place to start.
First: I do not use a smartphone at the moment. I am cheap and use a Pantech GoPhone. I had a US Cellular (CDMA ) LG Optimus U but decided I wanted a full keyboard phone and service outside of my area.
Anyways, I want to know if my GoPhone SIM Card will work in a Blackberry or an Android device, that is either unlocked or locked. I need to do this WITHOUT buying the smartphone data service for an extra 25 bucks a month.
Also, I need to know how to unlock stuff. I want to be able to buy a phone on eBay or something and unlock it and flip it around and sell it for more.
Thanks guys!
~thebigcheese
You can put your SIM card into any other AT&T branded smartphone. Assuming it's a 3g card, anyway. As for the data plan? AT&T will eventually realize you're on their network with a smartphone without a data plan. You basically need to buy it.
EDIT: With unlocking phones, they're all different. You would really need to go to the specific device's subforum here and check out how to do it.
some noob questions
I hear that AT&T has some software to detect your device and read your usage. There are ways to get around this it depends on the device ,you can mask your imei for instance so they can't detect the type of device your using ,works on a few pads with voice comm
capabilities such as the mediapad (springboard in the U.S)
As for unlocking ..depends on the manufacturer as they are all different

[Q] Do Wireless Companies Have To Accept a Good ESN From Another Carrier?

Right now I have an HTC Evo running on the Sprint network. I purchased an iPhone 4s (Verizon) from a friend that has a good ESN. I was hoping i would be able to flash the phone and merrily be on my way to using the phone on the Sprint network. After some researching it doesn't look like that is going to happen since the stingy bastards who own mobile phone companies will not accept ESN's from other carriers. Although, i did read on some old forums that companies were required to let the phone operate on their system if the ESN was good. Is this true? Is that a law? Do they have to let my phone operate on their system or is there any way i could get Sprint to make it work?
Answers are greatly appreciated as i would love to use my new phone on the Sprint network.

Verizon/Sprint

I know this is probably a stupid question, but I could use some help. I've been on the phone with Sprint for about 4 hours trying to get the Samsung Gear 2. But I want the Classic titanium. I'm trying to buy this as a gift, and apparently, Sprint doesn't have the watch in 3G/4G. The Customer service rep told me to just buy the Verizon version and it should be fine because both companies use CDMA networks. Can anyone verify that if I bought the Verizon version of the watch, that it would be compatible with a sprint cell phone? I understand that they would link up regardless with Bluetooth and wifi, but I want to make sure it'll be able to place and answer calls, etc, etc. I know, I'm an idiot, but I'd like any help I can get before spending that kind of cash on something.

It will not work.
Sent from my SM-G935P using Tapatalk
I also wouldn't trust what they are saying even though they both do use cdma
Thank you. That's kinda what I thought too. Is there some kind of work around? Rooting, flashing etc. I used to flash all my phones way back when. Dinc, storm etc. The last one I rooted was the Rezound, I believe. Just got bored with it and stopped once the factory version did the things I was flashing for to begin with. So I do have some familiarity with it. Just been a while. This is an anniversary gift and I'd really like to make this work somehow, if at all possible.
I saw on ebay an unlock service for the watch but I haven't tried it, only $10 might be worth it

Can Verizon (or any other carrier) know what my device is?

Hi all. I guess, this question is more about the hardware rather than a particular provider. Let me begin with its origins.
I am a member of a Verizon family plan, and I am the only member who owns a smartphone (Verizon S5 - G900V(B)) - others have much simpler devices. We have few gigs of data in our plan. At some point I realised that I don't need data any longer, and we decided to remove the data from the plan (downgrade).
But Verizon does not let us to do so. Their motivation is that they have a policy saying that since I have a smartphone, we are obliged to have a plan with data. However (!!!), they say that if I buy a simple used phone myself (like LG Terra - which supports 4G, but is not considered by them as a smartphone), they will allow us to switch to a plan without data.
Now, my question is very simple. How will they know if I have changed the phone? What if, after changing it, I just put my SIM card back into my smartphone? I can hardly believe they will switch us back to the plan with data...
Basically, the question reduces into two:
Is SIM card sending information about the device model to the carrier?
Can they use this information to change the plan?
As you may guess, my intent is to call Verizon and to say that I have already changed my device to this damn LG Terra, and to ask them to change the plan.
Thanks. Sorry if the question does not fit the forum, just don't know where else to ask.
