Verizon/Sprint - Samsung Gear S2

I know this is probably a stupid question, but I could use some help. I've been on the phone with Sprint for about 4 hours trying to get the Samsung Gear 2. But I want the Classic titanium. I'm trying to buy this as a gift, and apparently, Sprint doesn't have the watch in 3G/4G. The Customer service rep told me to just buy the Verizon version and it should be fine because both companies use CDMA networks. Can anyone verify that if I bought the Verizon version of the watch, that it would be compatible with a sprint cell phone? I understand that they would link up regardless with Bluetooth and wifi, but I want to make sure it'll be able to place and answer calls, etc, etc. I know, I'm an idiot, but I'd like any help I can get before spending that kind of cash on something.

It will not work.

I also wouldn't trust what they are saying even though they both do use cdma

Thank you. That's kinda what I thought too. Is there some kind of work around? Rooting, flashing etc. I used to flash all my phones way back when. Dinc, storm etc. The last one I rooted was the Rezound, I believe. Just got bored with it and stopped once the factory version did the things I was flashing for to begin with. So I do have some familiarity with it. Just been a while. This is an anniversary gift and I'd really like to make this work somehow, if at all possible.

I saw on ebay an unlock service for the watch but I haven't tried it, only $10 might be worth it

Bricked

Hey my good friend has a touch pro 2 that is bricked its the verizon version its unlocked, and just went and got a new one from verizon for $50 by saying it was stolen, however the phone does not turn on, on my windows 7 it recognizes it but does nothing is there anyhope?
What a moron. No wonder these devices cost so much... probably tried to flash a GSM HardSPL/ROM onto it (smooth move #1)... then files a fradulent insurance claim (smooth move #2).
Based on your friend's pattern of idiotic behaviour, I would say there is no hope for him... sorry.
haha im kinda happy he did cause he gave me the phone free of charge said i can keep it if i fix it, i tried the volume button to put it in bootloader and no luck =/ i really hope there is something i can do to get it to work
well it will still be useless if you can get it out of that state. you wont be able to activate it since it was reported stolen. so it will still be a brick, but with features
it was unlocked i was planning to use on ATT i just hope i can figure out a way to fix it
well fyi you'll only get edge speeds for data not 3g.
It wasn't unlocked. The GSM HSPL doesn't work on CDMA devices (hence - bricked).
It didn't need to be unlocked to use it on AT&T.
It will not use 3G though - only EDGE - if you can unbrick it.
Thats ok I dont have a data plan anyways I just want it to mess around, my job gave me an iPhone fully paid so I use that for everything, and it was unlocked before it was bricked by an unlock code online my friend used to have 2 services running at once it was actually pretty cool.
wow
No one is looking at the obvious here, your friend just reported it stolen, if you are able to activate it there is a good chance the police will be knocking on your door. That esn is now on the hot list! Good luck with getting it back on!
You can use bad ESN phones without them activating on verizon i have done it previously with a blackberry tour from verizon. Im just really trying to get this to work because it is a beast of a phone.
Wait a sec...you can't get a CDMA TP2 to work on GSM/EDGE. Being SIM unlocked won't do anything for you. There is a feature the FCC forced to make the phone completely unusable on domestic GSM networks.
What did I miss?

I think you missed the fact that this is a Verizon phone, which others have already proved works on US GSM networks once unlocked, not a Sprint phone.

Sounds like the OP has quite a history with "hot" phones.
haha not stole but bought on ebay. and i just like using cool new phones ive been through them all the touch HD, touch pro, like all the blackberries, i really wanna use this touch pro 2 without killing my wallet if not ill just end up buying the tilt 2
I hope to God know one helps this guy
haha haven't got any help so far gonna have to sell to someone whos better than this kind of stuff or something until then ima just wait it out till the weekend where ill have access to a windows XP machine and try it on that, too lazy to downgrade my windows 7
Oh man - now selling stolen property - and possibly across state lines, too!

Found what I suspect is this very phone listed on ebay in my normal daily ebaying. Started googling to see what I'd need to know to find out if it would be easy to restore so I could quiz the seller, tracked info back here to 2 or 3 threads to discover the phone has a bad esn by virtue of fraud, won't enter bootloader mode, and might very well be up for sale to multiple people. Surprise, those deets weren't in the listing
Thank you google.

[Q] Newbie here; hoping someone can help.

I have a HTC Pro Touch phone that was my company phone for about two months before Verison took over Alltel in my area. My company switched to ATT iphones at that time. I have recently decided that maybe I could use this nice phone with ATT. Much to my disappointment I found through a little research that Alltel and ATT networks are not compatible and the phone and can't be unlocked for use with ATT.
Its seems that my only option now is to find someone with a nice phone that would like to trade hoping that they might be in the same situation in reverse. Have I missed something that can still make this phone work somehow? If not does anyone have a good idea, of how I could make a fair trade?
Thank you and I hope this post is ok for this section.

You could SIM unlock it, but it's not very cheap. There are some nice links in the Raph Wiki that points to SIM unlocking services.
@racing5k
You can try putting it up for sale onbay.com or amazon.com. If you want to avoid registering a selller account on any of those two site (which is free to do), you put a free listing on craigslist.com, always deal local and accept payments in cash and in person. Amazon and ebay will charge you seller/listing fees, there are no fees to list and sell on craigslist. You have a CDMA version of this phone. What you need is the GSM version, which for ATT was branded the HTC Fuze. I have the Fuze but am having a issue with it (battery indicator says it is fully charged at 34%) which I have yer to resolve.
@ZoneBlaze
sim unlock will not work, Alltel uses CDMA technology and ATT uses GSM. racing5k has a CDMA version of the phone, the two technologies are not compatible with each other.

[Q] How to flash/change carriers with Fascinate

Hey Guys,
Back Story (don't really have to read if you want to skip)
I was at the bar with some coworkers and a new guy I work with was talking about how he had bought a Samsung Fascinate from a friend of his that had gotten his account frozen (it was on Verizon Wireless). The coworker wanted to transfer it over to Cricket Wireless (it is a crappy carrier in my area if you haven't heard of it) but they told him that they could do it but that he wouldn't get MMS. He ended up just buying a new one from Cricket and offered to sell me the one he could use for 50 bucks (it is like new in a box with everything) and told me if I couldn't do anything with it he would buy it back. This was kinda a win/win no brainer for me so of course I took him up on the offer.
He also did say that he could not get Verizon to activate it because there was a hold on the account that the phone currently belonged to.
The phone obviously will not work for me because I am on Sprint but from what I understand is that it is pretty much the same phone as the Captivate on AT&T. My dad uses AT&T for his carrier and has an iPhone but hates it and wants to go to an Android phone.
The questions:
1. Can I get the Samsung Fascinate from Verizon Wireless to work with AT&T?
2. Can I somehow remove whatever information that has linked this phone to being locked on Verizon so that I could sell it or activate it on another Verizon account if I want to sell it or give it to someone who does have Verizon?
3. Are there any other good options that I can do with this if neither of these will work?
I have no issues with rooting/flashing/messing with whatever is on this phone. I am a flashaholic on my Evo 4g and know that Samsung is a bit different then HTC when it comes to this type of thing but should have no issues figuring out the difference as far as rooting and such from other posts on this site. I just did not see anywhere that this question was already asked and know this is the absolute best place to come to get the correct answers for questions like these.
Thank you for any help you can give!!!
Does anyone have any ideas? Sorry for the bump but its been 2 days now and I am trying to figure out what to do. Thanks!

Going to Canada and wondering if it's worth trying to get voice on their Network.

Specifically, I'm going to Montreal for two weeks and I'm very ignorant on what networks are available for me to use, as well as the process to get my phone to be able to use their SIM cards. Anybody willing and able to provide me with the necessary info, it's much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I would imagine you could call verizon and see if they can do something like temporarily add roaming onto your plan but i'm not sure if that would work or not. I believe you can add phone coverage for the time that you are there (not sure how much that costs) and im sure you can add data coverage as well (that probably costs more) but it would most likely require a call to verizon, personally i would go to a verizon store and talk to somebody there about it. But you'll probably want to just add phone coverage and just use wifi for data, but that depends on what you'll be doing there.
Now since i'm trying to plan a trip up there myself ill be watching this thread and seeing what happens
Edit: As of right now, the galaxy s3 isn't "unlocked" to work on global networks anyways, so unless verizon unlocks them within the next few days your probably out of luck.

Not a bad idea to do it legitimately, but I was more so looking at possibilities with regards to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1809314
I'm hoping that there's a cheaper method than adding international coverage to my current t plan.

That could work, i'm not sure whether it would work in canada. Most of canada uses CDMA anyways, you could definitely go that route. If it were me though, i'd just add the international on temporarily for the two weeks you'll be there. But it depends on why your going too. For me it would be personal and i wouldn't need data or voice anyways, i'd just use wifi for data and skype to call home and check in So unless you need the data and voice outside of wifi areas you could probably get away with not having it

LG Urbane 2nd Edition LTE. Help getting ATT version working on T-Mobile network

I managed to snag an Urbane 2nd edition LTE before they cancelled the launch and pulled them from stores. At this point they will have to pry it from my cold, dead hands if they want it back (unless it blows up on my wrist). I want to put this device on the T-Mobile network. Has anyone had luck getting it to work on the t-mobile network? If so, what steps did you take. I have a t-mo nano sim card with smartwatch service installed in the watch, but I am not getting t-mo service. I was on tech support with t-mo for two hours and they were unable to get it working. Any help would be appreciated.
Trouble provisioning
The issue isn't the watch itself but an issue with T-Mobile not being able to tell that it is an actual wearable. Too many people took advantage of the wearable plan on a regular phone so they had to lock it down to only tmobile branded devices. I have been using my iPad sim to get just data for the watch, which is really all I wanted anyway. Don't want to be that guy talking to people from his wrist.
Adding it as regular device?
Do you think I could add it as a regular phone and have it work? I would not get the $5 smartwatch plan, but it would only cost me $10. I can afford and extra 5 dollars a month if it works.

Watch is not locked. Using it with a Truephone sim (Truephone uses ATT network). Works great.
You know there is a recall on this device right?
Not locked
I see some of you say is not locked.
Does that mean it's open to all carriers?
I live in Europe and I'm dying to get the watch, but as I could understand it was only working on 2 carriers in the States.
I've found some watches on eBay, and I'm kinda willing to pay what ever the price of it works over here in Europe.

Yes, the ATT version (only one you will find on Ebay or anywhere) is not sim locked.
The Verizon (other carrier) version, which never ended up being sold after all, would probably not have a sim card slot, since Verizon is not a GSM carrier.
Bands ATT posted were: 850/1900 GSM (2G), 850/1900/2100 UMTS (3G) and 850/1900 LTE. I'll be able to test it in Europe soon and see if it has any unpublicized bands and thus may work over there. Will post findings in here.
I had mine up on Ebay, then changed my mind and decided to keep it for now. Even without a sim card in it, I can use its GPS and track my runs without a phone.

@xendula did you ever try a phone plan with the watch? I'm having the same problem as in your OP, and am at the point of switching plans.
Otherwise, I may just switch providers...

I believe if you add the watch as a phone, instead of a wearable, it does work on T-Mobile if that's what you're asking. I've had my AT&T version watch since last November and I'm using a Truphone SIM with no problems. I also used it while visiting family in France and had no problems there either.
Yes you can add it as a regular phone and it will work. I decided that I did not need to use it as a phone and decided to deactivate the SIM.

jaydoggy is correct, I have an AT&T Urbane 2 on the T-Mobile network. I added it as an extra line (unlimited talk/text 2GB data for $10 per month).
There are some owners who have gotten the ATT Urbane 2 to work on T-Mobile with the $5 wearable program. It takes a call from a T-Mobile store Employee to their engineering support level. I tried at 2 local T-Mobile stores but each time the employee couldn't get the support engineer to code the LG watch as a Gear S2 which is supported by T-Mobile on wearable plans.
Try the $5 route, but know that it will work with the $10 add a phone line option.
