Do people just not use im on phone because all the apps kill the battery super fast or is there a good one that doesn't?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
I used AIM back on my OG droid days, but since getting older i don't bother with them. I know a lot of people use google talk, but other than that, i can't comment on the battery life.

OK so should using a im program take me from 8-9 hours to 6-7 hours of battery life? Or is something else up

All dependant on the app you use, look through the store to see which ones are good and which are not. If an app has a battery drain issue, most likely its all in he reviews. I really couldn't comment seeing as I don't use an IM program myself

I use Tasker which can do everything juice defender does and more, but yes, it does help if your phone goes into airplane mode over night, and auto switch off wifi when you leave home.

I bought tasker after reading wnp_79's description of it within his guide and have never regretted spending the money for a minute!
wnp_79 and ben_pyett ,you've convinced me ,gonna get Tasker
I'm using a free version, and it definetly improves battery life
Am using the ultimate version and not much difference

Yes but not a huge amount. I found I used 20-30% battery per day with it turned on so I saved maybe 10%.

Tasker also adds all the additional automation functionally, saving you tine and effort which is far more important

Sure, it probably won't help with battery life much though.

I disagree, tasker automates my use of my radios and sync' ing depending on location, time and date (thanks wnp_79), so it will not just save you some battery but also data which is just as important if you're on a limited data plan.

K Guys Have a bit of OS knowledge and stuff...
So all I can say juice defender or tasker won't save battery...they would just automate things better...
So if you shut wifi evrytime you finish with its use and blah blah other such things...
It won't help a bit...
Else if you forget and stuff...then you would see improvement...
Thats the fact...So if you use your cell efficiently you won't need it...

With some fettling and tweaking as out-lined in my guide (and thanks to the awesome kernel from MDJ) this is typically what I get out of my battery...
I just got a Nexus S I9023 and i've noticed that it won't charge to 100% and just reads charged at 94/96%
Anyone know why this is?
I'm running stock 2.3.4
It will charger to 100% after some cycles of charge, I have the same nexus s i9203

It is a question that was asked here on Nexus S forum at least 100 times. If you bought your phone yesterday, at least read a little bit more here on Forum about your phone, instead of opening new threads.
The same is with your thread about Music App, I gave you the answer - use the Market enabler.

And I appreciate it but it didn't work for me. Also I did do a Google search but didn't really find anything definitive hence why I came here.
Did you do a search on the actual forum, not just google?

I had the same situation 2 days ago (with the i9023), and found the other threads to not be so helpful. I think its acceptable to post this here in xda, after all what does Google know that xda doesn't?
Guys this was questioned many times and the answer is here on XDA even on Google. We want to respect the newcomers but only if you are not lazy and inform you properly before opening new threads.

i had the 94% issue with 2.3.3 (which was what it came with when i bought it). Once I upgraded to 2.3.4 it goes up to 99-100...regardless of how much power there is in the battery, they did change something with 2.3.4 as far as % reporting. Maybe so people would stop asking

You may want to read this to understand why it doesn't go to 100%

Well I downloaded the app called Spare Parts and I have seen a noticeable increase in the snappiness of this beat of an infuse of mine and I was wondering was there any other Apps like spare parts? Apps that can improve the phone WITHOUT root

Juice Defender can help wonders in terms of battery life. There are also numerous task managers out there but you really have to understand when/how/with what to use them or they often do more harm than good!

How is the screen on this? As far as scratch resistance etc.

@Tyler we have a noob faq stickied here as well as a guide stickied in the dev section. We don't need every person who gets a sidekick to start a thread announcing that they are new and don't know where to start because it's obvious where to start.
@wolfpakt it's got gorilla glass which is pretty standard nowadays, it'll protect against most things but sand/gravel will still scratch it

I read somewhere someone called samsung and confirmed, I've also held it along side a droid x, an incredible, and an evo 3D and the glass feels the same.
I rocked it without a screen protector for awhile with keys in my pocket and never got those tiny scratches other phones get. I use a protector now because i can still be scratched by a grain of sand, (sand= unfinished glass)
It came in today. The hinge for the screen seem quite sturdy.
Next question:
As a geek I have never really considered what a first time smartphone user would want by way of apps. I have on my short list:
1 lookout
2 rhapsody (I have an acct.)
3 zedge
4 hotmail
5 juice defender
Any other suggestions? (not games, she doesn't want the distraction)
Sent from my CM7.1 DARKSIDE glacier with the xda app.
I would get jucie plotter along with juice defender juice plotter has a widget which after tiem becomes acc in remaining time life and if she love music she should use google music to sync her music so she can listen to it

Got to get her a bigger memory card before I do too much music.
This does have an fm radio right?
Sent from my CM7.1 DARKSIDE glacier with the xda app.
no fm radio but u can use iheartradio to support raido stations and btw the music can be streamed (uses data ALOt) and it cna be toggled to download only via wifi and or select only certain songs out of your album
I would skip on the juice defender apps, they take up more resources than they save. Get the amazon marketplace cuz there's a free paid app every day, if you got cable there are apps to turn your phone into a remote (comcast or direct tv) definitely get an alternative browser like opera mini or firefox and set it as main. Qik video chat, pandora, that's all I can think of off the top of my head
Were can I get the apk for that market place
