Need help. Camera freezing - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

OK I purchased my HOX and it came with 4.0.4 ICS 2.20 I unlocked the bootloader a rooted it via the new method. I have flashed a couple roms and now my camera freezes the second it opens up and will not work. Any Help please?

Do you happen to be using the beastmode kernel?
What rom are you using as well?

I started with venom XL and flashed Beastmode, then I flashed Nocternal had some issues so I restored my original back up. Thats when I noticed the camera freezing so I flashed Clean ROM and it is still doing it.

Yes I did a clean install, I Fixed it. I had to flash the Clean ROM Kernel to remove the beastmode kernel I had on there and now it works fine. Thanks to all who tried to help.

If you wanted to use Beastmode Kernel though, you could use the cam fix

Revert to original camera after flashing camfix for beastmode

Hey guys! I flashed viper xl and beastmode and camfix to my device. Now my g-sensor doesn't work so I reflashed viper xl boot.img again and the g-sensor works. Problem is my camera wont work now because I flashed the cam fix which was for beastmode not the stock kernel. So I want to know how to get the stock camera back without restoreing from a nandroid? Any help as always is appreciated.

flash the cam fix again
Camera still doesn't work.
EDIT: Restored via nandroid.
I flashed viper 2.1 last night, and camera didn't work. Didn't flash beastmode or cam fix. Just did OTA update to 2.1.2 and camera still doesn't work. So if you, or anyone is able to find a fix please let me know.

try to wipe cache/dalvik cache
I'm having the same issues. I've tried wiping my device numerous times along with trying to restore my nand with no luck. If I re-install Viper XL that's when my camera works (if i try to go to any other ROM I'm S.O.L)
Beastmode 4 fix the issue for me

Best Jelly Bean rom

What's the best jelly bean rom for the One S (S4). I'm tired of waiting for the official OTA from HTC so i'm going to try a custom rom. I've heard CM10 is one the best but i could only find nightlies in the development section. Any suggestions?

Nightlies work fine so don't worry about that and if you want a bit of a tweaked one then BAKED BlackBean is a good rom. But before you do anything if you haven't flashed a rom on this phone then you want to get yourself into the All-In-One Toolkit thread and do a bit of read before you do any flashing and also don't install CWM but instead install TWRP recovery.
Oh right thanks dude, and yh I've done rooting on this phone before so I've got the all in one kit. Atm I'm unrooted so I don't have a custom recovery so what's different about twrp from cwm

Not really but you are bested off with TWRP. Its mostly it will boot into CWM if you turn off the phone with usb cable connected and cant mount SD.

Baked is good too, but I find the latest PAC Man ROM to be really stable, and has lots of good tweaks and customizations available (its also one of the more recently updated AOSP base ROMs).
Also make sure to use a good AOSP kernel, and klin has the only good solution, his Fusion 3.1. It works very well for me. If your coming from SENSE, you will need to flash that kernel as well in order to load the ROM (check the kernel thread for install instructions and follow carefully, since you may need to fastboot flash in addition to flashing the .zip).

LOL, I remember your posts in that kernel thread... Hard to know what the issue is. Seems like kernels can have feelings too, and it dont like you, lol.
But in all seriousness, I would definately second your recomendation for using TWRP custom recovery. It has lots of useful features and is way more intuitive than Clockwork. Its also been updated more recently than Clockwork for the HTC One S.
I used clockwork for a while until I tried TWRP and now havent looked back. If you try it, you will see why its better.

Yeah, klin said it won't work for baked as of yet.
And I would have to agree that baked is the nicest rom available for the one s. I have it UC to 1.026ghz and it's as responsive and quick as anything else at 1.5 or even OC'd higher. The battery life is excellent as well
There's also some settings he added under settings->baked rom control->prop modder/init.d that are really nice. Some signal enhancements, boot settings etc.
I'm not sure if you prefer sense to aosp, or if the main reason for wanting jb is for Google Now, but the viper rom has GNow working just fine and is sense based.

[Q]blue flicker while capturing/watching 720p

Hi, does anyone know how to fix the blue flickering while capturing on 720p and also while watching the captured 720p video.
I itried many rom.
Roms that i tried: Fallout, Desire XS, ViperSAGA
i am using now vipersaga v1.1.0.
No problems with it
I think its because of the tweaked kernel in custom roms is not stable....
vipersage v1.1.0 has got a stock kernel 3.0.16 and it handles fine with 720p.
And also go to recovery menu to fix permissions (helped for me)

This is a stock ROM but because it's not running on the firmware update that it came bundled with in the OTA update there's some kind of mismatch happening, thus causing these signal drops and random reboots. If you plan on trying the latest Telstra radio I'd suggest taking the firmware update route, I flashed the radio while still on the 2.14 hboot and it performed terribly. I think it works like this:
If you're on hboot 2.15, previous radios work terribly but latest works well.
If you're on <2.15 previous radios work well but latest radio works terribly.
I've only tested while on the lower hboot (<2.15) so far though.

T-Mobile 5.08 isn't a port and neither is this Telstra ROM.
Both are stock ROMs.
Differences will be carrier apps, carrier settings like APN, default qwerty keyboard, language, build.prop settings like fingerprint and such.

need a Wifi fix on Beastmode Kernel 3.5

I'm gonna sound like a moron for asking this, but it's because I'm new to this, I need help fixing my WiFi from saying error on my HOXL that's running the ViperXL rom 4.2.0(which btw is awesome) & Beastmode kernel 3.5. I know someone is going to say "just put the prima_wlan.ko file in my system/lib/modules & change the permissions to 744", well I did that and that didn't work. I hope that I'm just doing something wrong, so if someone could help me out or walk me through it I would very much appreciate it!

I am not an expert but I will try to share what has just happened to me. I just flashed the stock 4.2.2 turge version and then flashed the beastmode 3.5 because I keep getting random reboot. After kernel install my WiFi came up with error and no connection at all. So I reflashed the Rom again and it works. Now it can be just coincident. I am not saying that is the way but it works on mine so far. I am sure some more experience user can correct me and give better answer.

By flashing the ROM again you've overwritten the Beastmode kernel with the stock kernel.

So the rom actually flashing the kernel as well?
Hmm...so may be my random reboot is still not fix then.

Sent from my HTC One XL using Tapatalk 2
Yes, each ROM zip has a kernel built in. Otherwise if you only flash a ROM and no custom kernel the phone wouldn't boot. I've seen people fix the WiFi error on the Beastmode kernel in the thread but I can't remember which page it's on.

Yes, flashing a ROM flashes the kernel. The only time flashing a ROM does not flash the kernel, is if s-on and hboot 1.14 or higher. And this is only due to protections placed by HTC.
Normally a ROM will always flash the kernel.
Sorry if this is kind of hijacking the post. But how do you put the prima_wlan.ko file in my system/lib/modules & change the permissions to 744?
I searched but did not find any guide for this?

Navigate to /system/lib/modules using root browser or a similar app, copy the file to that location, long press on the file, select permissions, and set like this screenshot.
