Problem flashin Marmite kernel - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I can't write under development thread because i don't have enough posts. I have problem with flashing Marmite kernel. I have Strawberry ROM and CWM istalled. And when i try to flash kernel (i wipe cache and dalvik cache) it says that it's completed but when i try to reboot it shows google logo and after that nothing. Do i need to reboot in recovery after i wipe cache and than install or do i need to do somethin else? I have JB 4.1.2.
Sorry for making a new therad but as i said i can't post under the right threads.
Thanks for help

Are you using the CM or All Other kernel? There is 2 and if you flash the wrong one you will get stuck at the logo. Strawberry is not a CM rom so download the all other. Reboot to recovery, wipe cache, dalvik, and flash. Pretty sure that will solve your problem. If not post back and we take it from there.

installing update...
Making marmite...
extracting from yeast...
seeking help...
UNUNDERSTANDABLE MESSAGE 3...
Lid is licked.
Install from sdcard complete.
Than i hit reboot and it is the same as befor.

Then the kernel flashed fine so that is not the problem. You may have to wipe and start over. Wipe system, cache, dalvik, then the ROM, Gapps if needed, then the kernel.
What model NS are you running? Is it Sprint or the other carriers? Maybe you are flashing the wrong type ROM.
Report back and let me know.

I have I9023. I am from slovenia so i don't have Sprint. So i have to wipe data and everything. How do i wipe ROM, Gapps and kernel? And is enough if i do backup in ROMmanager?

When you do a format system it wipes the whole phone. Just flash the Strawberry ROM the same way you flashed the kernel.

When i do factory reset will i lose things saved on sd (strawberry rom, kernel and CWR)?

No it just wipes the system not the SD card. It clears the rom and kernel. As long as you got the ROM and kernel zip on your phone you can flash right from it. Flashing the rom is just like you did the kernel. SD card will be fine as long as you don't format it which is a separate function.

I wiped data (factory reset) -> wipe cache -> wipe dalvik -> instal ROM -> instal Kernel
But still doesn't work :crying:

Did the ROM successfully install? Are you positive the ROM and Kernel you are flashing is the correct Nexus S version? I'm running out of options here.

Yes i believe that is installed corectly because it says under the about phone rasbeanjelly build date and kernel is dirty lucifer or something. ROM is Strawberry which is for NS. Thanks for your help you made a big effort here :good:

[Q] [HELP] Can't boot GT-S5670 (galaxy fit)

Hi Guys,
Has anyone had this problem?
I had Creed's Rom v2.0 last month, and that worked perfect. I used it for a month.
this morning I decided to change my android rom into a new version of Creed's Rom.
I tried to boot and flash the Creed's Rom v3.0 and it's successfully flashed,,
But, whenever I try to boot my phone, I got stuck with the boot animation!!
It's never take me into the home screen??
It's keep showing me the bootanimation (Creed's Rom Text) for a long time ..,
So i decided to go back into SGFit default stock and successfully flashed it with ODIN..
When the device try to reboot, I get the same SAMSUNG bootanimation,,
it's keep rebooting the phone again and again (without any result),
And then I decide to flash the other rom., I tried "CyanogenMod 7.1",, I flashed it successfully, I do "Wipe Data / Reset" and "Wipe Cache Partition" also "Wipe Dalvik Cache" too, but whenever I try to reboot the phone, I've always got the freakin bootanimation and never take into the homescreen..
I also reformatted the memory card, still no result... :/
Any ideas please???

I had a similar problem yesterday. To me was advised to install via ODIN stock ROM (S5670XXKPI) which has 4 files. I did it, and the system is booted. Then I changed stosk and other custom ROM and everything works OK.

I installed S5670XXKPI. After I installed S5670KPU, S5670XWKT2, and work for me. S5670DXKT4 I don't installed. I don't know will it work for you. I think it should.
The first you install S5670XXKPI, after you installed and the system is booted, you later install what want.

G3MOD Kernel for JB/ICS

Hi,
I have taken the code of G3MOD code and modded it for JB.
Also I have included the Bluetooth fix that I have done for ICS. Yeah the same fix is also available in JB.
Use this kernel with ICS & JB as the bluetooth fix is applied only to these two versions.
Try it out and let me know the comments.
Download Here
Thanks to all G3 developers.
Special Thanks to g3mod team, marcellusbe, hillbeast, cdesai.
If I forget to thank anyone it's not intended, PM me. I will thank you.
Note: I am not responsible for any damage caused to your phone (softbrick or hardbrick).
Thanks mate , Hope to see more development from your side as well ...to make G3 the best ever phone
Can you make a .tar version please? I can't flash it through CWM.... I flashed JB then without rebooting flashed this but it still didn't work... Same with gapps, they don't install for me...
I also can't flash this kernel either as it still says im on [email protected] #cm7_kernel_oc_1.8
Are we able to access CWM then?

When you install the ROM you should wipe the data as well but when installing the kernel you should wipe cache and dalvik cache.

If I install the kernel immediately after applying JB update then will I be able to access cwm the next time??
Thanks

[Q] [ Emergency ] Device don't boot into System

Hi!
I flashed the 06 of July build of Pac Rom because the title was updated.
Well, i rebooted, and now it's stuck on the device logo ( Where it's say Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 )
I can boot into Recovery and Download Mode.
I tried to do a Factory Reset, but no luck.
Is there any way to fix it instead of resetting it to a stock image?
Thank you,

Comming from paranoid, I suggest first to back up apps data and wipe caches before the flashing the Rom .
You should not have any issues there after but if any, the wipe data and flash Rom and pa gapps

Yep, that's pretty much what's recommended for changing Roms. I personally don't clean anything when flashing similar Roms but PA is a bit complex imo and you already had issues with it. so, wipe.

Ok for some reason, gapps updated and then it said that it has to install so it rebooted me into recovery and it started to install but it said that there was an error in the rom manager script or something like that. It's not that PA doesn't work with CWM, just the ota app.
OmniROM requires twrp or CWM-based recovery. Not CWM itself if I recall.
You also have zero reason to install those gapps updates on either rom..
Gapps are updated automatically through the play store.
