Sorry if its been mentioned already but I got an update from the play store today for adw ex. I must say its quite a significant improvement. The updated ui feels very ICS-ish and works well with some of the ics themes out there.
This will def help me wait a few more days until we get official CM10!
Edit: adding a couple screenshots

Adw ex is a launcher that works with all versions I believe. The theme in my screens is actually two themes used together. I have an ics theme applied within the adw ex launcher as well as a cm7 ics theme. I'm currently using all these apps on CM7 gb 2.3.7

Been using ADW for a long time now on both tablet and phone. Main annoyance on my tablet is the "action bar". If I disable it, or add a gesture to show/hide it, the space it's in is always there. So my top row widgets are never at the top anymore. Also, this morning when playing around with transitions I change the app drawer style to horizontal slide (or something) and made both my devises unresponsive on the the home screens. Phone I couple open settings with the bottom button and change it back from there, and then had to reboot. On my tablet though, had no accessible settings button. Had to use main settings to clear defaults and go back to default launcher, uninstall ADW, and then reload the last titanium backup of it.
Oh, and my phone and tablet homescreens. Tablet is running Thunderstorm Live Wallpaper.

Anyone figure out a way to change the faves button on the right side of the launcher to something else? Contacts perhaps?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Sadly, no. But if you want that, I do have a suggestion. Make everyone in your contact list a fave. Then in the faves gallery, change the layout to list view and boom, you have a slightly less functional contacts app tied to that button!
If you haven't tried it, go into the faves gallery, click menu and "change view". You can make it a lot better than that weird flying tiles view it defaults to.
I think I read somewhere that you can only add up to 20 contacts in Faves.
You can download Launcher Pro, and change it to 5 customizable buttons on the bottom.
Yes im aware of the custom launchers, but thats not what I was trying to accomplish. I am happy with the sense launcher other than that 1 button.
Don't think it can be changed? I've looked everywhere, and gave up. Which is why I did this...

The problem with custom launchers is that you lose the sense widgets. Which I would like to keep, mainly the calendar one.
I noticed adw was sluggish when browsing the app drawer. Is launcherpro similar?

Sure!
For one you need LauncherPro Plus, or ADW.
The live wallpaper is already in your phone, so switch to that.
Clock is done by Fancy Widget. Do a google search for the apk file. I used v1.30
You'll need a transparent icon. Follow this link, and do what the last comment says to get the icon. http://www.launcherpro.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=4389
Below I've added the dock for you. Now get everything into your phone, and put them all together. It's really not that hard.
Oh, and I think you need LauncherPro "Plus" to make changes to the icons, but not 100% sure?
Enjoy, and good luck!

I find LP to run better than ADW, and you do keep your regular widgets plus you get some nice new ones if you pay for LauncherPro Plus.

Awesome man, that's perfect. Now I just have to figure out how to get rid of the carrier label altogether . Any ideas? BTW, how'd you change your font?
I use the liberty 1.5 rom, it has a bunch of options for fonts and lets you change the carrier name out to whatever you want. So far its been very stable for me and much quicker than stock.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Yeah, I saw the font options, but I'm not sure what adding a font does.. for instance, what'd you do in the toolbox that sets the widget font?
And I'm not talking about changing the text, I'd like to find a way to remove that whole bar, 'cause it just takes up space. I think you can do it in stock.. it's called a "roaming banner" i think
Changing the font effects all the text, everything from Widgets to menus to even the text on most websites in the default browser. It even changed the font in my clock widget. As far as removing the carrier label on the notifications I'm not sure how to remove that waste of space. I never looked into it but now since you mentioned it it's bugging me too. Let me know if you do find a way to remove it.

You long press on the home screen and select add widget like you would when adding a widget to the home screen, select widgetsoid then select a switcher widget. Have you been able to figure out a way to move or resize the clear button yet? I really wish I could move it to the bottom of the notification bar. Better yet, I wish there was an app/widget that automatically cleared all new notifications. Been looking for something like that for months without any luck...
I recently tried this launcher and quickly enjoyed the simplicity wp7 offers but don't want to go to wp7 phone any time soon.
Most of my icons are from the metro ui packs but didn't go with metro ui because the tiles look smaller while launcher 7 tiles take up the right amount of room on my screen.
For the live weather tile I use fancy widget pro you have two options for the weather widget and works well for me.
Update- launcher 7 now has landscape support which is good and much better live contact tile image updates.

After flashing the brilliant MIUI rom, i decided to check out the stock launcher. It is one of the smoothest launchers i've used on my infuse other than Launcher Pro, however i was disappointed to be confronted with a I-Phone like home screen experience where all the apps were hanging around willy nilly! Hence i found a simple solution to the problem and it is only 2 steps .
Instructions:
1.Put all of your apps into a single folder except for the ones that you plan to keep on your home screens.
2.Download Alt Drawer and put it in your dock. This will now be your app drawer!
There you go its as simple as that! The experience is almost identical to other launchers.
However to add an app from the app-drawer, u must close the app drawer and grab it out of your folder where you stock-piled all the other apps.
Hope this helps someone...first thread on XDA hope i dont get yelled at
Here is an implementation of what i'm talking about:
My home screen with alt-drawer being the right most app on my drawer

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",

And on this screen you can see alt-drawer when opened up.
Also i forgot to mention earlier, alt-drawer is very very customizble.
You can change lots of settings
(i.e Background transparency, icon size, font size, font color, side-side scrolling/vertical scrolling, hide/show notification, orientation etc)

TasKarou is a multitasking/task switcher with a touch of WebOs.
it overlays your home launcher, and make it easy, and fast to switch between apps through a WebOs like, or a grid based UI.
Launch TasKarou by clicking on the home button.
To access the home launcher, double click the home button from any apps, or single click the home button from TasKarou.
TO REMOVE THE ADDS, TasKarou Launcher Key is also available on the android market.
Features
Particularly useful for tablets, 'Quick controls' feature allows apps switching by swiping from the left or right edge of the screen.
Quick controls feature can be enabled without using TasKarou as a home launcher.

I had that feature in the prior versions. I decided to take it out because it was a bit inconsistent, since the android API post 2.2 (froyo) doesn't garentee the app you're trying to kill will be immediately terminated at your request.

Thanks for the feedback. My primary focus has been on feature completeness, and usability.
For the future updates, I plan to focus on polishing the app, both at the runtime/memory, and at the UI level.
Windows previews is a big one in my todo list. However it's pretty complex, and I'm still trying to get it to work. It's definitely possible though given the amount of screenshot apps in the android market.
Any hints/help regarding how to implement screenshot like functionality is definitely appreciated.

There is a paid key that gets rid of the ads. Look for 'taskarou launcher key' on the market.

Hey man. Great stuff.
Is it possible to add a 'favourites' pane? That would be top of the iceberg. Really love it being overlay of current app
Thanks man.
Wow, that's quite amazing. Fantastic job.
Great job, can you make it so that you can close the open apps by swiping them off the screen just like in web os.
