I have a mini wireless keyboard/mouse combo I used to use with my HTPC. I plugged it into the gtablet a few days ago when I was running TapNCrap and the keyboard worked well but as I expected there was no mouse support.
However, now with the Cyanogen Mod Firmware, it includes full USB Mouse Support which is fricken awesome!
With mouse support and the eventual docking station with HDMI out, this thing can become a basic laptop replacement. Actually, with Hulu coming to android and services like PlayOn which are also coming to android shortly, and the processing power of this little tablet, it can actually become an HTPC replacement in it's own right!
I am going to test out bluetooth mouse/keyboard support shortly, because if that works then you can just run an app on your phone to turn it into a bluetooth keyboard/mouse and pair it with the tablet, which would make it even more convenient to use form afar if/when the HDMI dock becomes available stateside .
I was pretty impressed with this as well. I was able to a USB barcode scanner and even use the tab through my USB KVM. Really a great bonus when you are hacking and cracking.
So I've seen videos showing that the touchpad does actually have usb host support in Android and WebOS.... anyone able to recommend a usb-vga adapter that might work? Kinda want to use the tablet for presentations at work into a projector
I don't think that this is possible, but not 100% sure.
Hi
I have a small desk for my monitor and laptop (lenovo T420 win7 64bit). At the moment I have a displayport to hdmi cable, but the plug is sticking out over the edge - so the dog hits it
Therefore I was wondering, can I use an Android unit as wireless display receiver for my Windows 7 PC ?
I have searched the internet - and MiraCast is one option , but i am not sure my T420 supports it - and it should be somehow buggy
At the moment I have a noname RK3066 HDMI stick (Android 4.1) not super stable though, and a SonyEricsson Arc S (LT18i) with HDMI, a Galaxy S3 with MHL adapter.
Since I work a lot in worksheets it is important the stick runs full HD (1920x1080) but my laptop screen only supports 1600x900 - and offcourse the text is clear and crisp. And it is also important It should auto launch, so I do not have to click the device every time.
My Wifi is 802.11n
Thank you all for any reply (and sorry for my bad English)

I have a 803iv by rikomagik. It's a rk3188 so it "should" be fast. Miracast was a joke from my phone, and that's two android devices. Good luck with Windows cross platform incompatibilities. I install home theaters and residential & commercial electronics, and unless a technology is standardised industry wide (like HDBaseT or even 802.11) you're SOL on interoperability. Your best bet would be a DLNA or a kit (sender & receiver), not a hodgepodge with android/Windows and resolution issues.

WAIT, a T420 has WiDi...that IS miracast...which IS a standard. have you gone into the stick settings and turned it on and just tried it? The only problem might be crappy chineese implementation...that's why I figured mine did not work. That or my custom firmware...
I have tried the omega rom on my sgs3 (since non stock rom doesn't have HDMI/ mhl out) and mirrorop receiver app and windows mirrorop sender . This works, not flawlessly since there is some delay and sound is not playing 100% fluid. I have to test this further.
I cannot make my laptop find my sgs3 through the Intel widi software, so standard widi receiver / miracast isn't working (yet)

so can android's hdmi out work like IN to show?
I think that hardware doesnt support it.
Have a look at splashtop streamer. It might be suitable for your needs
Edit: the app is actually called Spacedesk. I just had a look aty tablet. I was able to use my Samsung tablet as an extra screen for my laptop
I dunno whether this is the right place to ask about the ps3 and lap.. So i just want to ask apology if I'm on a wrong section. Okay let me get into my question..
Is it possible to connect ps3(ie,play station 3 to my lap screen). From past i play games connecting to my TV, but nowadays mom started watching many drama serial on it. So i would like to buy a new TV but recently i was thinking whether i can connect it to my laptop. So please mind answering. Thank you

Normally laptops have VGA and HDMI out ports that both are "out signalling" ports. There's no way to get image signals in the laptops except for USB that is useless in this case
You should probably get your own Plasma, and plasmas are better in lightning
ps3
Sasan_blue is right about there being no way to use the vga port, but you should look at this. http://howto.cnet.com/8301-11310_39-20067551-285/how-to-connect-your-computer-to-your-ps3/
If I understand your question correctly, your short answer is yes.
The long answer is that you'd have to pull the LCD out of the Laptop, and figure out the pinouts on the LCD screen and an HDMI wire as a PS3 utilizes it. So it's not easy, and you're better off doing it with a spare computer, NOT a laptop you're using.
Definitely can be done if you're brave enough and know how to search for things; this bloke's done it before with a Wii.
Im looking for a device that will charge have usb ports for keyboard and mouse and hdmi out to a tv. that way I can use my Nexus 4 running ubuntu touch as a computer. Any ideas?
As much as I would love something like that, I just don't think it exists sadly

It's not possible to have HDMI out and USB access at the same time. (Not to mention, the Nexus 4 doesn't even support USB-OTG without a custom kernel.)
What you would have to do is get a SlimPort adapter and a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse.

The only device I used that was connected via HDMI and used with a bluetooth keyboard was the Motorola Atrix.
what about this one?
It's an Android dongle, you connect it to any TV via HDMI, you plug it to a power source, and voilĂ
Android KitKat full HD on your TV!

Looks pretty nice.
Does Ubuntu support Chromecast? Couldn't you just get a Chromecast and a BT keyboard and mouse and pretty much accomplish the same thing without using USB at all (except to charge, obviously)? I know it's possible in Android, it is built into the Chromecast app...

The chromecast is made to use with phones, tablets, and chrome browsers. Not BT keyboards and mice.

I understand, but that is not what I meant. I meant cast the screen of the Nexus 4, and use a BT mouse and keyboard to control the Nexus 4... Essentially using the Chromecast as your HDMI output from the device.

It wouldn't work in Ubuntu, casting screen to Chromecast is a proprietary feature that requires Android.
It is definitely possible to use a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse while casting to Chromecast, but the slight lag caused by screen mirroring, combined with the slight lag from the Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, makes it borderline unusable. It does, however, free up the USB port to plug in a USB mouse and keyboard with an OTG Y cable and a hub.
I can't see why you would want to use Nexus 4 as a desktop PC. The android OS and UI are totally unsuitable unless you want to impress your friends
If you want something small and portable, you should look at getting an Intel NUC or similar. Much more powerful and much much more suitable for desktop OS stuff.
Could always look into the likes of the Asus Transformers? I personally use the transformer prime with its dock and it works like a ultrabook has handled everything I have thrown at it too but for all the hardcore applications I have my desktop
Also for a heads up you could be interested in the Asus transformer book, its a windows tablet, but add the likes of Console OS and you can dual boot windows and android with full support for their respective apps/programs on each side
Ive got a MyDP Slimport Adapter and a Bluetooth Keyboard and Mouse. The only downside is that Ubuntu Touch does not support Desktop Convergence Yet. I hope its around the corner. The nexus is powerful enough for me and hope that the desktop mode is enabled and works as planned. Its a great idea to dock your phone and use it as your desktop.
Thanks for thre recommendation.

I was attempting to make the Ubuntu Touch Desktop Convergence experience a reality on my Nexus 4. It seems it maybe around the corner.
