[Q] Adding Vibrate on answer to rom - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am looking to try out some new roms, In the past I have been pretty loyal to NexusMV with ICS, and with CNA with Jellybean.
The one feature that I really like and would say it is a requirement is the Vibrate on answer under Call Settings. This isn't found in the stock rom, I would like to give rasbean or strawberry a try. but I know they do not have the Vibrate on answer under Advanced settings within Call Settings.
Is there a easy way I can add this features to a rom that does not have it?

Why is this something must need for you? Not that I am criticizing, just trying to get an idea of why it is useful.

Hmmm SlimBean or AOKP? I had that but can't recall which ROM I was on.
I say give Slim a go. Love that ROM and believe it has this.
It is an odd feature to decide a whole ROM on but hey, each to their own.... Lol

I find it very useful when calling out, as when the other end picks up the call, My phone vibrates .. then you know you are connected, Usually half a second or so goes by before the other end says "hello"
Just find it to be a great feature and feels like something is missing when a rom does not have it!

Slim bean 2.8 has it...

[Q] Change screen rotation delay in ICS?

(I am on the unofficial CM9 release)
Is this possible? I know the delay was set by Google to keep the screen from rotating when you don't want it to, but it doesn't bother me if it rotates on accident- and if it did bother me I'd just turn off auto-rotate. I'm not looking to speed up the animation, I want to remove or shorten the screen rotation delay. All I can find on Google is people misunderstanding this request, people saying "GOOGLE MADE IT AS A FEATURE I DON'T SEE THE PROBLEM" and people saying "AOKP ROM lets you change it" Okay well, how did the creator of the AOKP ROM do that? What file needs to be changed to modify screen rotation delay?
Thanks.
P.S: I'm not an idiot when it comes to modifying Android, I'm hardly versed in it, but I'm confident with what I do. I'm not some random idiot.
you need to change framework parameters. you can either change the SETTLE_TIME_MS= in the framework (see http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=24869) and compile the rom from source,
or try to decompile framework and change with the method in this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1413304 which may work for ics.
both are somewhat time consuming to do though... so people would rather recommend you flash an aokp rom.
Well I'm not too keen on compiling a whole rom lol so I tried the framework.jar edit. I followed the directions exactly and when I rebooted I got the "Android Optimizing" like it does after an OTA and... No change.
Is the feature a default AOKP thing? Cause if it is I may have to check out the Uniporn rom.
In the unicorn Rom control setting at the bottom of general ui is rotation delay. I don't recall if cm9 has same option

Thanks for the help guys, looks like I'll be flashing UNiPoRN. Hopefully I'll be able to MMS with that rom as well.
Put these as your settings it'll work great! (Password is: CINGULAR1)

they are the stock ones yes i just played with them to make them pop a little better but yeah im a simplistic person so i am not going wild on this rom but it will be a bit different. I dont like crazy i actually enjoy cm10 and vanilla android so its not going to stray way too far.

That's cool I used to be a strong touchwiz supporter but after using cm9 and cm10 converted. I'm assuming you are gonna post the rom on rootz right?

Haha, this isn't a task killer, it's just a skinned version of the recents menu. Sense skin to be exact.
It looks bad ass. Mohan may be able to make it work. PM him and suggest it
looks like windows 7 app switcher. windows key + tab ^^

will you be making this port? if so then i'm interested. if not could you please refrain from posting in the wrong forum?
the correct forum for asking questions is AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

True. I took a look at it. Might be nice. Dunno.
i cant remember which rom it was or who made it, but i was running one in the spring that had it built into the rom for our skyrocket
and yes it was badass ...... i miss it
Deliberate's port of HellyBean claims to have the option to use the Sense4 recents panel, if that is what this is. Only thing is, he has stated not all features are working. Whether this is one of them, i'm not sure.

[Q] What are some of the more unique ROMs?

Hey all,
I just got ahold of a Rogers SGSII for the sole purpose of flashing and experimenting with.
I'm just curious, what are some of the more unique ROMs out there? I know we frown on "what's the best ROM" thread, but that's not what I'm asking. I know about some of the high performance ROMS, tha'ts not what I'm after. I'm looking for something that's truly different from Touchwiz or Stock Android. Doesn't have to have great battery life, or run completely flawless, but something cool and different. It's currently running CM10.1, looking to change it up a bit.
Any suggestions would be great.
This thread is uniquely veiled as worthless. With that said try flashing all the ROMS here. Then mix different parts of them together in your own build. That would be unique. And most likely not worthless. Good luck
All of them are unique.

Avatar or paranoid android to start then pacman as it has lots of features from each branch. The first two will get you a different look and feel then try pacman.
Launchers play a large roll in how you interface with the rom . if you like a ROM maybe try a different launcher we all have our favorites.

Most interesting rom is MIUI, Rogers Jellybean is right behind it and then Embryo.

[Q] pattern lock - bigger grid & more options

Hey people,
I got a question about the android pattern lock.
My gf's S3 is capable of using the same grid-buttons twice, like UP and DOWN. Maybe this picture can help to understand what I mean.
(1-2-3-4 is where my finger would go; mad paint skillz ftw)

When I tried the same on my Sensation, this doesn't work. I can only use each circle one time, and this annoys me, as it's not secure and makes it impossible to use secure patterns.
Also I'd like to get a bigger grid, not only 3x3, but maybe 6x6.
Is this even possible? I thought that would a pretty normal android thingy, but it looks like my Sensation is not capable of creating usefull pattern lock screens.
I'm using AOKP by frankenstine. I looked into all Settings that made sense, but I coudn't find any option to change the way the grid appears and behaves.
Maybe you can point me to a solution, or maybe an app, although I doubt an App can change the way a system-fuction works.
Thanks in advance
If your phone is rooted then you can install Jellybam v 4.1.0 custom rom. It has many options of pattern lock like 3 by 3, 4 by 4, 5 by 5 and even 6 by 6. It is a great rom having features of CM, AOKP and Paranoid Android. All in one rom. It's around 300MB if you want to download. Just search for it on the net. I installed it on my phone. Unfortunately, yesterday I flashed CM 9.1.0 otherwise I would have shown you the screenshot of the 6 by 6 pattern lock. Flashed CM cause I constantly flash custom roms on my device.
Hit thanks if I helped.

Anyone figure out a way to do this on stock rooted phones, without having to flash a new ROM?
