Hi guys, I recently rooted and I've been running Clean Rom and Clean Kernel. I'd like to try to run Viper and beastmode kernel, but I'd rather not completely reset up my phone like I had to do when I switched from stock -> cleanrom.
I've herad of using titanium backup, and I've installed it but I'm not exactly sure what it will backup and what it wont.
So my question is, if i flash to a new rom, what's the best way to backup so I have to resetup as little as possible??
Any help would be appreciated

I've been using Titanium Backup and my experience has been great with it. Basically you want to backup all user apps and all system data. There's a function that does exactly that in Titanium Backup. I then like to copy that backup onto my computer and then I can safely flash my phone.

My phone is rooted, backedup with clockwork and I even used sprite backup to backup the phone just in case. I plan on flashing my phone for the first time with the Epic Experience rom since it seems to be the most popular.
I'm pretty happy with my phone's current state except the battery life once in a while. So after flashing with a custom rom how do I revert back and restore my phone to the "EXACT" way it is now?
Make a nandroid backup in clockwork, then you can go back whenever you like.

Restore nandroid backup and flash stock kernel. You will most likely have to flash a non stock kernel for a custom rom, and even if you dont HAVE to, you will probably want to.
So to go back to stock, flash back to a stock kernel, and then restore the nandroid backup.
are the steps to creating nandroid backup the same on the epic as others? I can't locate a tutorial for the epic specific

yeah its pretty self explanatory, boot into clockworkmod > backup. or you can choose backup current rom an rom manager if you use it. thats your nandroid system backup
that's just confusing. So basically, a nandroid backup is the backup creating using clockwork? lol if so, that was the first thing I did after I installed clockwork.
hey guys, i want to ask about backing up phone.
i have stock rom back-ed up in clockworkmod, however now i have installed Miui.
if i backup phone again, will it erase the stock rom backup?
or will it just pop up another date to let me restore either miui or stockrom?
It'll have a different file-name (Time + Date), so it will be saved alongside any other backup you might have.

i have a nandroid stock rom backup i did it when my phone is not yet rooted.
now i successfuly flashed hybridrom v2.1 in my phone.
my question is
1. is it ok to restore the nonrooted stockrom back up in my phone?
2. should i delete phone data ang cache before restoring the backup?
3. what cw recoverry mod i'll use in my SGY? ive found out thre are lots of ver its confusng .
i'm just new with andriod its almost a month that ive got this phone so any help from you guys is much appreciated!

1. IMHO, you should extract necessary settings or data and restore to your new rom. You can use AppExtractor
2. No need to delete everything before restoring
3. Your choice. There is touch version out there. Try and love it

i was saying that if i wana go back to my stock rom (original rom) wich is not rooted can i restore it using CW?
if i flash back to my stock nandroid backup using CW my phone will not be rooted and it will restore the default samsung rom?
its just my theory though i haven't tried it yet i`m asking question like this for my future reference
Well...
Yes your device wont be rooted and will return to the stock rom.
Since the nandroid backup copies the whole partition. just like Norton Ghost does on the pc, so your phone will just go back to its exact status it was at that time.
You wont need to wipe user data/factory reset, because of the data partition being restored by CW.
Well you are asking for a recovery. How did you make a nan backup if you have no recovery?
Or you used the stock one? if you used the stock one, aren't you able to use it to restore?
Or do you want a new more powerful recovery?
As in the previous post they mentioned, use the one you like, with the most options

I'm a new Skyrocket user. Had it for a couple weeks now. I really like it but want to test out some of the custom roms. Right now I'm updated to the stock ICS. I've installed TWRP and rooted it. Bought Titanium Backup to freeze some of the bloatware and backup. Also installed Nova Launcher and some other apps that I use all the time.
I would like to test a couple roms but want to be able to go back to exactly what I have now if I don't like the custom rom.
How do I backup everything so I can go back?
What I'm thinking is backup with TWRP to an external sd card. Will this backup the USB storage on my phone too? Basically everything?

Yes, backup with twrp, also called a nandroid backup. Always do this before doing any flashing. It backs up the system image. Everything except radio.
Before you do anything you need to do some more reading. If you're asking these basic questions you're not ready to do anything yet.

1. How do I install the custom ROM? (Cyanogen in this case) Also, is this process the same regardless of what android version I have? (I'm currently on the stock 4.1.1 OTA)
2. Should I install a custom kernel? If so, is it the same process? Also, is my data wiped just the same as with flashing a custom ROM?
3. If I make a backup with Titanium Backup, will I simply be able to access/redownload my app data it if I redownload Titanium after I flash the ROM?
Any and all help is appreciated!

I'm sure everyone has their own advice, but I would say first thing you'll need is ROM Manager
Download the ROM you want and place it on your sdcard. Use Titanium Backup to backup your applications, and then restart your phone in Recovery Mode. When in recovery mode, make a backup by going to "Backup and Restore" > backup. Then do a factory reset and wipe your cache. Install the new rom and enjoy the addiction
Also...be careful making sure that any kernel flashed is compatible with the ROM you are flashing. If not you can brick your phone.
