STUCK IN A BOOTLOOP? PHONE WILL ONLY BOOT TO SPLASH SCREEN THEN NOTHING? I'll bet your one x has the newer 1.14 hboot and you didn't know you had to flash the boot.img of your rom in fastboot! This tool takes care of it for you.
Hello everyone the 2.20 firmware comes with a new hboot (1.14)as we all know. It will no longer allow you to flash the boot.img of your rom in recovery. I created this one click tool to ease that process. This is a simple tool to flash the boot.img of your choice. Currently windows only anyone on MAC feel free to make a port.
1/14/2013 There is now an app out that will do this for us. However new people here are failing to search and read so I have updated the tool to make it more user friendly and almost fullproof if directions are followed to a T.
Disclaimer: You are responsible for the actions you take with your phone. I cannot be held accountable if you mess something up.
To use:
1 Unlocked bootloader
2 Custom Recovery
3 Download boot.imgflasher.zip
4 make sure you have HTC One X Drivers installed
5 make sure HTC sync is not running in the background or system tray on pc
6 Have USB Debugging under developer options turned on
7 Have fastboot under power turned off
8 Extract the downloaded zip to the location of your choice
9 Download the rom you want to flash to your pc.
10 locate the boot.img file of your rom in its zip file
11 Place your boot.img you would like to flash in the folder you extracted above.
***DO NOT PLACE THE BOOT.IMG IN ANY SUBFOLDERS, ETC SIMPLY DROP IT INTO THE FOLDER***
10 Connect phone to the pc
11 Open the folder and click the bootimageflasher.bat file. Follow on screen directions.
12 finished
The way this is set up is to be flashed prior to flashing your custom ROM. Remember that you need to have all necessary items including ROM etc on sdcard before running this script. After you flash the boot.img you can then use recovery to flash your custom ROM of choice.
It will also work if you flash the boot.img after installing the rom. Simply flash the rom of your choice then run this tool before you reboot the phone.
Happy Flashing
Download boot.img one click flasher:

Will try this to flash new cleanrom v. But can I make a request: can you build in ability to flash kernel? I'm on 2.2 also but have unlocked bootloader so I can still tinker. Rather new to the manual methods though.

question
sorry this is a dumb question, i am coming from a galaxy nexus and was given this phone. this only works if you are in 2.20 and already have an unlocked bootloader correct? because mine is brand new and i love it but it would be much better with cm10. so for my case im basically screwed till 2.20 is somehow rooted correct?

mmmmmhh Isn't boot.img and kernel the same thing?
I'm not sure. I think you can flash a kernel over a boot.img but I am no expert. I hope to try out the new cleanrom this week. It has a new kernel included.

Is this set up to strip the signature out of stock boot.img files that are extracted from RUU? If not, you should add a disclaimer as flashing those via DD with the headers in-tact with soft-brick your device.

Are you on the HBoot 1.14? You may need to use gui or adb to flash the kernel.
Some kernels are hboot 1.14 friendly and some are not. It states: hboot 1.14:
The installer includes a method to flash the boot.img on hboot 1.14, however, some people still have difficulties. If it doesn't work, extract boot.img from the zip, reboot to bootloader and do:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Note: you must still run the installer to set options and get configuration files!

You can go through the setup again and get the vanilla option yes

I hate to bump, but I ran across this problem as well, and what I found that worked was to do a backup of my phone through TWRP then I flashed the custom kernel, then did a restore. It still read my kernel as ElementalX as my kernel in my about section. I'm not sure if this is a fluke or something, but it seemed to work well for me after I kept getting a bootloop.

If you followed my directions exactly, then your best bet is updating to 2.14 hboot by RUUing to 3.18. You would need to S-OFF first if you are not already.

Yea thats what I always thought, was just bein sarcastic.. So for the sake of the thread and the O.P. To retain root you would have to flash recovery after running the RUU correct? Because the gentleman that I was originally responding to stated that theres no need to flash recovery, that the RUU does this for us...
Yes you need to flash TWRP again after you run an RUU. The RUU only flashes the stock recovery.

Ya I used that one click tool for XL to get the recovery..now on to further questions instead of making a new thread i decided to reuse this one.. anyways after I got through all that i decided to go ahead and flash some custom roms and ended up with the same results when ever someone sends me pics or videos through text, they will download fine until i connect to a wifi, then i get an error saying "couldn't download now, please try again later. Even when I disconnect from the wifi i get the same error and sometimes will not even get data untill I wipe and re flash but everything works fine with the stock rom.. what could cause this i have tried messing with the data options in settings and nothing works. rom's I have used are
Root box
slim bean
xylon
all of them have acted that same and all use the 3.4 kernel. so I'm stuck on stock until i can figure out whats going on :crying: so any help is greatly appreciated :good:
I've never used WiFi with those ROMs so I'm not sure. But are you sure your apn settings are correct? Also, have you tried toggling airplane mode on and off after disconnecting from WiFi?

Hey all, I've just switched to this ATT One X and I'm looking for a little guidance. I've rooted, unlocked bootloader, and flashed TWRP. I've also downloaded PAC and GAPPs. That being said, I've read a little about flashing a Rom and a boot.img seperately which would be new to me. I didn't see anything mentioning that process on the PAC thread so I'm assuming that I just wipe data, flash Rom, wipe cache and dalvik, flash gapps and reboot? If there is something I'm missing, could anybody help? Thanks in advance!

If you are s-off you do not have to flash the boot.img seperately. If you are s-on you have to flash the boot.img with fastboot from a computer.

Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
I'm pretty sure you can flash the boot.img with fastboot before or after the rom. But flash gapps after you flash the rom. The way I used to do it(when I was s-on) was flash rom, flash gapps, then flash the boot.img from the terminal using fastboot.

[APP] Flash Image GUI - Flash Kernels and Recoveries from normal Android mode! is your friend
flash boot.img first then rom and gapps, but definately do s-off you don't wanna end up forgetting that flashing 3.17/3.18 with s-on + supercid will brick your phone.
Nice! I'm looking into s-off as of now, but what did you mean by flashing 3.17/3.18? I'm on 3.18 and I believe I have superCID. Does that mean I should hold off on flashing until I'm s-off?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
No you can flash now. We weren't aware that you're already on the 3.18 firmware. If you weren't on that firmware you would have needed to RUU up to it in order to flash the ROM, and the warning was to get s-off before running the RUU because s-on + SuperCID + RUU = brick. So, go ahead and flash the ROM.
PS. In future, make sure you provide all relevant information (current firmware/current recovery/s-off or s-on status). This information is needed to help, and it also stops this kind of confusion.
