Wow!
Installed Clemsyns latest kernel then?
From a tablet running CleanROM 2.3

How did you get a I/O score that high?
Do you have the normal lags and freezes, that I see on my TF700?

Strange. I flashed the clemsy kernel (1.8GHz) and my quadrant score was only 5400 on performance Did you set your min and max both at 1.8?

The highest Ive got was 6247 with his kernal on performance mode and had data 2 sd also installed. Both of those tweaks help this tablet. I have also noticed that you may want to restart the tablet once after you flash your device with these tweaks. You can get to these speeds! I love my tablet at this point.

Been on Scotts ROM for a week or so awesome I must say.
I just flashed Clemsyn's latest and have been seeing lower scores in Quadrant below 5000 a few times.
I have the 1.8 OC the overall scores have dropped dramatically.
Guess I'll keep fiddling with things till the scores get back up there.
I think it might be System Tuner Pro bugging something.
Other than benchmarks the tablet still rocks!
Very smooth only 1 FC\reboot so far and that was Quadrant itself .. lol
Haven't had an ANR or reboot since flashing CleanROM-2.3 with Clemsyn's latest.
(except for 1 running Quadrant)

I dont have data2sd just cleanrom 2.3 and the clemsyns kernal. Here is my sunspider scores and my quadrant again

Yeah just keep messing with it, one question. I know a lot of people have ran into the bootloader preventing them to get higher clock speeds. Do you know if you are on the latest bootloader? Also do you know for sure you are running at a 1.8 OC? To check you can use the app Stability test and it should give you a frequency reading at the top.
I have been running ClearROM for about 3 days now and 2 days ago switched to Clemsyns kernal. I definitely think that CleanROM is a very smooth ROM however once I flashed Clemsyn's kernal I had a new meaning to smooth. Absolutely loving my tablet experience now. I went from the Prime to this speed demon, couldnt ask for a better tablet right now.

This is the latest bootloader.
I could try reloading cl2.3 maybe...
System tuner is reporting 1.8 @ 41 degrees celsius...not too warm for an overcluck.
I want to see if YouTube is affected by these tweaks.

Update!
I had things pretty goofed up on the tabletron model TF700T last nite...I got tired of screwing up so I gave in.
Today I just started over and went straight to JB .18 seeing how slow and crappy Jellybean was for me I re-rooted using hiemanshu's tips.
Anyhoo short story longer: After a new install of CRom 2.3 and Clemsyn's Kernel me is happy!
Quadrant shows 6150 overall with IO at 7267 :cyclops: ... and that's in balanced because I never remember perf mode.
Sooooo we R good here...
Whew!

Glad you got it working man! I really havent seen a difference in performance mode and balanced mode when running the quadrant tests. I dont know if anything is actually running faster since the cpu is overclocked to 1.8 either way. The only way to change it I think is with setCPU or a similar app.

CleanRom includes the stock kernel. FlashCleanROM 2.3 ist, then Clemsyn's kernel. You may lose some of Scott's tweaks but the Clemsyn kernel makes up for it!

Also, System Tuner may not play nice with either ROM or kernel...that's what I heard.

Yeah I know what you mean, the breaking point was on the verge. Although Im sure that with all the fuss it gave you, it was worth it in the end.

What significant (everyday user) changes do you see with CleanRom and the kernel flash, as appose to say, not having it rooted? Browser faster? What do you really see in everyday use?

I highly recommend Calkulin+Clemsyn OC/UV kernel (1.5 ghz) rom

So, after people started reporting that their benchmarks are in the 3000's, I decided to flash from ginger RC1 and holy cow this is freakin' fast. Even before I ran the quadrant test everything felt so fast. Twice as fast as vegan gingerbread. I wanted to run the quadrant with all the apps and stuff that I'd be running (quickoffice, dolphin, etc.) and holy cow benchmark was still in the 3000's every time.
I ain't moving to any other rom until someone finds something faster.
Does the unit feel warm or hot ? The rated CPU clock speed is 1.2 (or 1.0, not sure). I am a bit concerned about overclocking to 1.5 at higher voltage. In addition, what apps that were slow and are needing this kind of power ?
Thanks
Sweet.. but honestly with out video drivers for gingerbread its utterly pointless for me :O( Keep us updated on how stable it is :O)

Since when did we "need" anything? The gtab will work just fine with the stock rom. But with a custom rom, it works better. The clakulin+clemsyn v3 combo works even better. I just like the raw power that it gives me.
Added by edit.
But to answer your questions, doesn't feel warm or hot to me at all. Battery life is undoubtedly reduced, although I'm still trying to determine by how much. Stand by for this.

I was concerned about heat and the case feels a bit warmer but not significantly. I guess we will see over time. I would say battery life is reduced but I don't have any numbers. The devs have included a nifty OC profile based on battery life. This is my new favorite rom.
This combo is crazy fast. I scored a 3521 on quadrant. I have been running it for 24 hrs now with no issues. Does not seem to be running hot at all. Battery life seems fine but Im sure it is using more juice.

Here. Nuff said.
Edit.
Keep in mind that I've already installed apps like quickoffice and such. In other words, if I had ran this test right after I flashed this rom I'm sure the score would have been higher.
Here you go: 4484, that beats 345 xooms even overclocked . Oh my.
Sorry about the resolution. I didn't know if I posted at full size if the picture would be huge or not.

How the flying pigs did you get it up to 4484?
Ok, so I ran it a few more times and it seemed a little sluggish as I had been putting it through its paces today . I shut it down and rebooted. I just ran it 3 times in a row. My lowest score after letting it sit for a bit was 4521, best of the 3 was 4665! Yikes.

I am also using and loving this rom. Love the smooth video with Froyo (but wish it could work with Ginger).
It feels slightly warmer than before I think, but the temp sensor never reads above 87 degrees F, which has to be a safe operating temp, right?

Listen to me very carefully. The devs are doing this on their own time without getting paid. Us lowly humans don't wish anything. Ok? Clemsyn said he was going to do ginger soon, and that's his choice. We don't wish anything. Ok? He's not obligated to do anything. What he's done for froyo is way way way beyond what he's suppose to do, which is nothing. Ok? He made it clear just last week that his intention was to return the gtab and move on with his life. He then decided to stick around and created new roms that are almost twice as fast as previous roms.
If you're disappointed, then Clemsyn could just drop the whole thing and leave. If you're disappointed, please go buy an ipad 2, ok?
In fact, I highly recommend against getting a gtab for most people. I promise, you will not be disappointed with the ipad 2. Love you long time. Go, put the disappointment of a device gtab up on ebay and go out and buy the ipad 2 now, please, before you get any more disappointed.

Thank you and others for posting scores.
Very fast. Always loved Calkulin's ROM, and I've come home after playing with Vegan GB for a while (also a great ROM). It also appears that the OC settings work with pershoot's OC kernel as well. I love the fact that it clocks based on battery life.

Geez guy, did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed this morning? It's not like he posted a long harrasing write up for Gingerbread. It was subtle just like you should be. Chill out please.
On that note does anyone have a video of this "Beast ROM" in action?
Wish I could get this combo running. I have been running C&C 1.1+v9 for awhile now and love it. I can't get any of the OC kernals running. The only way I can get this to boot is to install the C&C OC combo and before booting I have to install Clemsyn's v9 kernal. I can't get Pershoots 1.4 ghz kernel running either.
The best I have gotten was with the C&C combo and then installing Clemsyn's OC Extra kernal and I can get to the HC animated boot screen but it never gets past that. My son and I bought our gtabs the same day and his runs all the OC kernels.. Oh Well...

All CPU's are different. Some phones will have no problem running at 1.6ghz. Some will. It's a trial and error thing.
If you are worried, start conservative and work your way up.
would you say that overclocking your phone is worth it? i know that it can really improve the performance of the phone... but it greatly decreases the battery life... and vice versa u can lower it and increase bat life n lower performance. im looking at opinions also thanks for the reply!!

I personally have the Infusion kernel running on my phone, which allows me to OC my device, but I don't want to. I've come across no normal instance when I've found that I needed the extra power. I mainly wanted it so that I could undervolt (UV) which improves battery life.
Adding a custom ROM and also adding voodoo (most ROM's have voodoo) will increase the performance of your phone.
I'm running Infusion 2.0 on Infused 1.5.3 right now (waiting for GB HDMI capabilities...thanks AT&T) and I'm loving it.

Mikey passed out 1-2 MIUI builds as a proof of concept on IRC a while back, but it took the existing problems with CM7 (MIUI is layered over CM7) and added new ones, so it's on hold until more of the issues with base CM7 get fixed.

There's no way you took your device to 1.8 - our devices can't go past 1.6 without overclocking the system bus, and the system bus does NOT like to overclock. The best anyone has done was around 1664 MHz and it was unstable as hell for a lot of people.
Some versions of Infusion reported operating at 1.8, but that's because bedwa made some mistakes in his PLL calculations - he thought those settings would run the CPU at 1.8 but they actually ran it at around 1.55

fastest anyone has reported to have gotten a hummingbird legitamately that i have seen was a kernel for the fascinate that had a really goofy timing stucture and had problems with other hardware. they reported the cpu running @ 1.7ghz with the gpu and bus at some really goofy speeds and fluctuated as the cpu scaled. it looked like a total mess.

Depending on which governor you choose. Scary seems to really keep tabs on it well. I'm at 1900/245 and when I run Scary the battery doesn't run down at all. I'm not a fan of the performance though, as it is too slow to react sometimes. Still working on the others, so no solid opinions yet.

I don't see why you would underclock your phone that slow... 245 is way too slow for a phone made to run default at 1ghz. You'll have screen wake issues and uber response problems... duh.. I don't see why ppl turn their smartphones into expensive paperweights just so they can extend battery life. I'd rather have a phone that computes efficiently than one that doesn't even want to process. 600 MHz min is just fine.

245 would be the minimum clock speed, not the maximum My guess is that when your phone is asleep, it would use as little resources as possible.

Umm.. You're running at 216mhz.. the normal is 1000mhz.. Haha you cant really mess up your transformer, if you undervolt or overclock too much, the device will just reset itself (if you didn't set it to apply at boot) Im running at 1680mhz as I type this..

Yea I noticed the 200mhz thing when I first started the app
OK thanks for the answer
Er, it IS possible to burn out the device, don't spread bad advice. Most of the kernels will give you a safer range (less than 1000 for the super safe, less than 16xx for the OC kernel).

Which Kernel is best with CROMI-X

So, I am using CROMI-X 4.6.9 right now Max's kernel (RC1) and it is working very well for me. I am hesitant to try one of the others unless there is an overwhelming feeling that there is a better kernel with this ROM.
As far as I know the choices are:
Modified Stock (sbdags)
_that V4
MAX RC2
Hunds
Feel free to add any others if you know of any.
I added a poll to this thread as well so feel free to vote.
Thanks
Jeff
Looks like _that has a lot of support so far. Keep 'em coming.

i wonder if those who voted for _that's kernel actually tried MAX's and Hundsbuah's... that's kernel is the default option in the cromix installer...

Maybe we can ask sdbags why he choose _that's kernel as default in cromi-x installer ?

Not to speak for sdbags, but _that's kernel is closer to stock. It makes more sense to favor stability over less tried-and-true performance boosts by default.
But correct me if I'm wrong about that one.

_thats kernal is by far the most stable. Hunds overheats the tab after awhile and max has severe performance issues with extended use.

What constitutes extended use? 4 hours constant or one month normal use? I have been using MAX for a week or so and it seems to run fine for me.

Easy answer. The best kernel is the one YOU like best.

OK, it looks like _that has it. It also looks like I was the only one to vote for MAX. Guess I will go ahead and try _that. Does anyone know where to get the latest version from?
Thanks for all the votes
Jeff
you could use sbdags kernel installer from cromi-x thread
or download from _thats thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2230059

I installed _that V4 today based on all the votes it got here. The first thing I did of course was run quadrant and I went fro the low to mid 6000's to the low 5000's. I know quadrant isn't the be all, end all but scrolling websites seems much jumpier as well. Battery life seems a little better though. I think I am going to restore my nandroid with MAX RC1. Just works better on my tab I guess. Just sharing my experience.

Did you do a dirty flash or full install? Also you should do a full reboot after the initial install. I usually avg around 6200 on _that kernal on quadrant

I'am 6200 with cromi-x but quadrant is not constant : the results vary a lot and if you run the test 10 times in a few minutes you will get very different results (i have from 5700 to 6230)

I just flashed over what I had but it was only one generation from a clean install if that makes any sense. I did a completely clean install of CROMI-x and then flashed the MAX over it. I used that for a week or 2 and then flashed _that over it. I wiped dalvik and then rebooted.
Should I have done something differently?

I agree but the average is about 1000 points lower with _that than MAX for me.
_that - 5050-5250
MAX - 6200-6700
I have run it on max many more times which is why I think that the range is greater but it still seems much lower.
Thanks for the input

Max forces dynamic fsync off. If you also turn fsync off in that's you should get around 6000 as well.

What is the difference between fsync and dynamic fsync? Are they the same thing? It seems like I have heard both of them referenced.
In Trickster MOD it says that Dynamic FSYNC if on.
BTW: I just restored my CROMI4.6.9/MaxRC1 image and ran quadrant again and got 6606. :good:
This thing rocks with this combination.

Dynamic works off the screen state I think, whereas the other method is always off.

So is Dynamic fsync on safer than no fsync at all?
