[Q] S3 dialer sucks? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Is it me but I think the S3 TW dialer sucks! I'm coming from GNex and I much prefer the ICS/Jellybean dialer soooo much better.
Anyway to install the ICS/Jellybean dialer on my rooted/unlocked stock?
Thanks!

Don't think so. It can be modded/themed but is tied into Touch Wiz and framework. Definitely not the Jellybean. Maybe a dialer app from the Market.

Install exdialer and buy the plugs, you'll never use another dialer again. It miui made (don't be frightened) and is awesome. The ui/speed/ability to maintain the same between rom's is wonderful. My two cents....

[REQ] is it possible? aosp in call

I saw a similar post in general, but wanted to ask it here to see if anyone has come up with anything. I'm curious if its possible to get the aosp in call setup, like the DROID has. I have the aosp contacts/dialer app, but when you call it switches over to HTC. Can anything be done about this? Thanks guys
I second this one. I have been trying to see if anyone is willing to help out and get this going.
only on a aosp rom (darchdorid) if its a sprint/htc rom you cant get away from the htc dialer, the aosp dialer works off the htc dialer.

Damn, well thanks guys. I'm running sushi, n love the mix of HTC and Android, but thats the only thing that bothers me.

Is the update really worth it?

Is it worth leaving miui for the gingerbread update?

If you want a samsung based rom flash zeus or bionix they are both great roms and have the firmware that you would be upgrading to with kies. Much easier to just flash one of those roms

Miui has ics themes that make the phone actually look like it runs ics. N you can download ics launcher on market to get that experience. Only thing missing is the face detection thing

yeah and the new implimentation of hardware acceleration that improves performance.
im not about the look of aosp even ics, miui and dare i say it touchwiz are much better in their own ways as far as interfaces go. it's the implimentation of bluetooth and other communication and tethering and contacts sync and other things that work with less problems on aosp that i like. but i love the samsung sliders in contacts to call or message and the smart dialer search in touchwiz that are hard to give up. i know the universal search works good for that too and go contact has the smart dialer feature as well but the sliders are the big atraction of touch wiz for me. if someone had a cm7 or miui contacts app that had that id be in love.
im pretty sure MIUI dialer and contacts have slide to call/sms.

Any Senseless ROMs that don't use launchers?

I don't really know why but I don't really like launchers, for example nova.
The launcher that comes stock is part of Sense. When a chef removes Sense from their ROM the launcher is removed, so they have to replace it with a different launcher. If you can't find a third-party launcher that you like, you'll have to stick with Sense ROMs.
Aren't there some phones that do not have any Sense or TouchWiz or anything like that? Just a stock GB or stock ICS without any extra launcher or modifications by the maker of the phone?

I think that the answer to your question would be alomst universally no. If there is an android phone it has a launcher, same with all other phones pretty much. Check this out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1545845
U r better off with some kind of launcher anyways

+1 You pretty much NEED a launcher to use your phone. Stock HTC comes with Rosie launcher, AOSP comes with I guess you could call it AOSP Launcher. Samsung = Touchwiz launcher. You have to use a launcher, what you're asking is pretty much close to impossible
What launcher does the Galaxy Nexus use?
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using XDA
Stock Android (which Nova, Trebuchet, etc. are all based on and look the same as)
OP why don't you like launchers like Nova? It looks exactly the same as the stock ICS one and has extra features.. Perhaps you would like to share with us?

[Q] Need Help With Different Launchers

Hi,
I have an Epic 4G Touch and I have rooted it and I know there are a bunch of launchers out there. And if it wasn't for the fact that I am a "noob" I would ask this under the ROM I'm interested in...but seeing as I can't here I go...
I know there are many many many launchers and I was wondering which one is the best? And if TWLauncher is the same as the stock launcher that came with the phone before rooting it?
Thanks in advance

+1 :good:
I've been using Apex launcher since I started using ICS on my SGS and I also recommend it.
Use apex
Go launcher
I suggest either Apex or Nova launcher prime.
I bought Nova Launcher prime and was using that with my HTC amaze and One x until I switched to my galaxy s3 and started using wicked sensations ROM which employs Apex and I am happy with it.
I hated Go Launcher. It seemed like it had a ton of custom stuff like the go sms, go store, widgets, etc but it really just got in the way for me personally.

I am very happy with Nova Launcher prime. I like the customizable gestures it has, as well as the effects for screen transition. Another nice feature is the ability to put swipe gestures on dock bar apps. On my phone, if I tap the phone icon, it opens up the dialpad. If I swipe it, it brings up my frequent contacts. It's pretty awesome.
I use Nova Launcher Prime unless I am using a CyanogenMod ROM in which case I typically use Trebuchet. Nova is fast and feature rich and very easy to customize. The only downside to Nova is that you must be using Android 4.0 or better so no Gingerbread support.

Cyanogenmod does exist in two 4.0+ flavors though. There is CM9 which is Ice Cream Sandwich(ICS/4.0.x) based. There is also CM10 which is Jelly Bean(JB/4.1.x) based.
i used launcher 360, but some time later i use only apex launcher :good: very good launcher and configurable

I love Jellywiz... it doesn't have all of the apps (i.e. Visual Voicemail, My Verizon & Verizon Login). I love it ... it is responsive and love the detachable video.

Has anyone found a JB ROM with Visual Voicemail (VVM)? I've tried several, and several add-ons for NFL, etc. But I've not found a working Visual Voicemail.
Thx.

Can't you just install the APK (from TitaniumBackup or something)? Or does it not work?
Just coming from a EVO 3D and I regularly would restore the Sprint VVM apk when loading ROM's with it removed. It would not work with AOSP though (if I remember correctly).
I have tried pushing it manually, installing it, using the flash able zip that neverendingsix posted in the LiquidSmooth thread that had the Verizon SSO key and a couple of other things in it and then installing and or pushing but nothing I have been able to do will get it working. I have seen the people say use Google voice, or whatever its called, but I really prefer the VZW visual voicemail app. So I guess I'm in the same boat with everyone else running a JB ROM...... we get no visual voicemail love

I have working verizon apps on jelly bean and asop. A little bit later tonight or tomorrow I will make a file for you guys to download as well as an old Verizon visual voicemail app that works with all jelly bean ROMs
