How you use duel boot roms? - General Questions and Answers

I am curious how people use the duel boot roms to their purposes
Here is what I think,
1. One for pure office work and one for pure entertainment
2.One with all the bloatware and one without
3.One for battery life and one for all tweaking experiments,
4. Have feel of different roms at once
and final,
5. Just to show off (like me ,I do not know what to do with it yet)
Additions please,
Thanks,

|ROM||AOSP||JB||4.2.1||Perfect Android 2.1

Perfect Android is a redistribution of the Android Open Source Project and Google software code that I have lightly modified to make as a daily driver for myself that I'm sharing with the community. This project doesn't have and won't focus on adding a ton of features and mods but instead focus on stability, and reliability so yes basically this is a stock like rom but not just stock my only efforts will be to make it run better, and be more polished, and complete.

If you have an error or something pops up I ask that before you post about it please make sure that you are running the ROM as provided. I cannot troubleshoot anything that is related to using other kernels, mods, or themes.
This ROM is basically like a stock rom of jelly bean so there is not a need for screen shots ........
Always remember that XDA started out as a great place and will remain a great place as long as we are great to each other anything used in this ROM is available upon request and feel free to use this as a base rom for any other project my ROM is un-branded just give me some mention .......
WANT TO CUSTOMIZE THIS ROM READ THIS:
Like the ROM and want to add or remove anything or customize for yourself use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=633246 DSIXDA's Kitchen. Its a great kitchen for customizing prebuilt ROMs

Google - I used their apps
AOSP - of course
Probably gonna add a changelog here
AOSP 4.2 ROM so quickly? That will be interesting
Can you have some screenshots?
yep its uploaded
it looks just like stock I built it to be at least as good as what you get from google if everything is working correctly that is when I will begin modifying but for now it looks like the stock ROM so I didn't think screenshots would be needed
first of all you have to give us changelog, then i'll flash it, because now i don't know exactly what are the differences between Your rom and stock, so is it worth flash it?

Its solely up to you guys if you want to flash it as this is an expensive hobby for me I'm just sharing what I do with the community so is it worth it, for me yeah, for you I really don't care, I hope I'm not coming off as an ass but I have to draw a line somewhere. I not making any claims with this ROM I just sharing it if you use it fine if not fine, I don't get into the whole screenshots large claims huge changelog thing I just post and share I also maintain this ROM for the Sprint Galaxy Nexus which it has done just fine so if you want you can do a search here and see what and where I come from .......
I'm very happy when see any new rom in N7 development, because nexus need fresh look from developers, so i was thinking that You could push some new tweaks into ours devices. Almost all roms here are just "cleaned" or "minimalistic" or "performanced" in real these rom are almost stock with the same user experience. So do not get angry when I want to know if there will be something more here...
Does it work with twrp?
After flash with twrp, I see the information is Android 4.2 JOP40C. I dont know whether it is flashed or not?
I will happily try your rom to see how it compares to CleanRom, give my feedback tomorrow

I'm not getting angry with you in fact I agree however, regardless of how you feel about those roms someone still put that effort into them. Honestly for me the N7 is a new device and before I go making claims that my ROM can start your car and end world hunger I want to make sure that it at least meets stock standards. AOSP has done a lot of work to somewhat remove google entries in their code so it has taken me a few days to re-build AOSP code to work correctly with G-APPS and other Google code I do NOT claim to be an over the top developer I just do this as a pastime I have certain things that I do not like and thats why I have started making my own ROMs so that I always get what I want. Now I can tell you this and I know this as a fact THIS IS NOT A WINZIP KITCHEN ROM IT IS BUILT FROM SOURCE it took hella work to get it up to a win zip ROM and thats where we're at so far lol. When I learn all the changes to the 4.2 coding I will start to add small feature to my ROM.

The roms they are using are called Custom Roms made by developers or users and mostly found on this forum.
They use Custom roms for different reasons like Better layout, Save more battery etc...
Example custom roms :

Really I'm just trying to get my post up so I can comment on the developer threads . Fairly new and it won't let me comment u till I have more post.

Yet The Best CustomROM for Nexus 5 ?

Hi,
My N5 is running on Android Lollipop 5.1.0 (LMY47I), (Rooted)
I know choosing a custom rom differs from one person to another, but I would like to know which custom rom you recommend to me (Based on your exp). and Which CustomROM I can consider Switching to. More likely I'm looking for a CustomROM with Stock ROM Experience + Addition features (Circular battery, Performance, Better Battery life, etc..)
Hope your replies might also help other who has thoughts to switch to CustomROM !
Thanks in advance !

Currently on chroma and I've been through every ROM fforr nexus 5 this battery life is great
Try latest Cataclysm + elementalX 2.11...
So far good & giving almost perfect battery life.:fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:
Sould try it out.

Well, it may not be helpful or expected, but it's honest. You're best bet is to scroll through the development section and choose one at random. You say you're looking for stock with extras, but ever rom out can fit that criteria....
If you're looking for a rom based off the stock google factory image, then I'd suggest Cataclysm Rom from the Original Dev section. It might be just what you're looking for because the Dev takes the stock google image and adds his own twist to it.
3 people=3 suggestions
Billion people=billion suggestions
Based on your expectation I would say Cataclysm+elementalx is good choice. But the best solution is download>flash>experience
Thanks for sharing valuable suggestions, now I can save some time by short listing custom rom's based on ya ppl suggestions
You have to try and choice a ROM.

Just scroll through the development sections. No need for someone to search for you and type out a list. Can't help those who can't help themselves.

Cataclysm hands down......
Euphoria and Chorma is the one I always use in all the time. Euphoria will more features compare to Chorma but both also awesome ROM I used before and also with CodeBlue kernel performance smooth and battery soso.

"A new ROM" is pretty ambiguous. Are you considering a modified stock ROM - rooted, debloated, tetherguard removed, etc? Or an AOSP-based ROM?
It seems to me that we can certainly use a well considered modified stock ROM. Mostly I like the stock ROM but there is room for improvement.
In the AOSP world, a Cyanogen ROM is available and being actively developed. Personally I like its minimalist approach, but many would prefer a more full-featured one like PAC-ROM. We are at an early stage for Marshmallow, and for the Snapdragon 617, so there is much work to be done here.
Whichever direction you take it will be appreciated; we need more options for the A9.
Greg
Hell Yeah !!!!!!!!!! That Sir would be great.
For those who dont know who I am,been doing this a long time with much success, they ROM would be stock on outside but heavily modified from kernel on. So I will begin messing with this ROM
as this device seems to have next to no development going on and gotta start somewhere. Once I have a flashable build Ill need some testers. Testing depending on if any issues can take a week to two weeks before release will be out to public
If interested in testing, leave message here and when its ready the fun will begin,
Thanks,
WNC

If you can add htc apps like Car, music and torch I would consider to buy the A9, of course I am talking about stock HTC rom not CM

I’m all in and ready.
I'm interested. Particularly if you can remove tetherguard (I paid for tethering with TMO but it is being blocked - grrrr). If you can keep the best of HTC, add the best of open source, while removing the worst it would be greatly appreciated. Until CM13 and support for the 617 catches up it seems like the most promising approach.
Will we have to be S-off to be testers? If not count me in.
Greg
A custom kernel would be awesome!
Sent from my HTC One A9 using Tapatalk
An over-clocked kernel maybe, turn snapdragon 617 to 810 v2?
Or changing the white annoying splash boot by inverting the white color to black, and in the same way remove the red text "This is a developer build....."
I think you have to make something with the aboot.bin inside the firmware and make is too a RUU-zip...
Also it would be nice if you could describe for us / learn me how you change/hexEdit that particular binary aboot.bin.
Some people had succeed it before... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2710503
or like his post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64503437&postcount=1151
Even more automated could be an aroma installer to get rid of the redText and invert the white color
Definitely interested in testing if you need anyone else to help. AT&T variant, S-Off, unlocked bootloader and rooted. Very familiar with HTC devices over the years.

MultiROM planed/possible?

Hi,
I'm very fan of dual boot Android devices, it gives me the possibility to have one ROM without root (to use apps that require non-rooted devices) and a second one with it, to test ROMs.
This is why I want to know if its possible to bring this tool to our devices.
If there is a Team developing it, I want to help coding and testing.
Thanks!

Well, I guess you can call A/B devices that. Userdata is not separate but running unencrypted makes it possible to use two different ROMs. Definitely not recommended but possible

Because every ROM has different settings and copying /data 1:1 could lead to issues or bugs. Just be aware of that

Yes I know, this is why I prefer MultiROM.
Yeah, I've been thinking the same thing since day one I got this baby.
I mean I got 256g of storage to spare, some roms in it would be cool!
Time to hoist the colours and call our captain lol @Captain_Throwback
How difficult would be to build MULTIROM from sources?
