Micromax A110: All Things Root Thread
Hola Guys!
Guides for Micromax A110:
Important: If the steps given in the guide sound a bit strange (I bet they are, for newbies), click the Title to get to a full explained guide. Experienced folks will have no problems the steps given here itself.
Posting too many links to one's blog is considered unethical. So, I decided to create an index of all the guides for Canvas 2 on Droidiser.
Root and install Jelly Bean on Micromax A110: Easier Method (Thanks Paplu3)
Download this file and copy it to your sd card.
Wipe Data/Factory reset and go to Advanced and wipe dalvik cache.
Boot into clockworkmod and flash the file by going to Install zip from sdcard.
Reboot.
How to Update Micromax A110 to Cynus T2's Jelly Bean
Download Cynus T2 JB ROM and transfer to your sd cared.
If you don't have stock recovery on your mobile, download this and flash it via MobileUncle MTK Tools.
Boot into your recovery and select Apply update from sdcard.
Reboot.
Flash Modem.img. To do this, go to /system/etc/firmware and paste this file. Change permissions to rw-r--r-- and reboot.
After updating to Jelly Bean, how to install CWM recovery and ROOT it
Download cwm recovery image. Renmae this file to recovery.img, if it isn't already named so.
In Flash Tools, click Scatter-loading button and locate the file named MT6577_Android_scatter_emmc.txt
Uncheck all options except recovery.
Remove battery from your phone and connect it to pc. Hit download button in Flash tool.
When completed, remove your phone and reboot. Copy the SU binaries to your sd card.
Flash via CWM recovery.
Improve Camera Quality on JB
Flash Android 4.2 camera zip via cwm.

Flash Cynus T2's ICS rom On A110
Download Cynus T2 ICS ROM and copy to your sd card.
Flash stock recovery if you have clockworkmod recovery.
Reboot into recovery and flash the rom.
Update Micromax A110 to stock rom v2
Download stock rom v2's backup. Copy it to /sdcard/clockwrokmod/backup.
Restore via cwm.
OR
Flash SP Flashable zip using SPFT.
GPS fix for Micromax A110 (ICS)
Copy gps.conf file to /system/etc/ on your device and overwrite the old file.
Swap External and Internal sdcard
Copy the modified vold.fstab to /system/etc and replace the old file. Reboot.
Flash Clockworkmod recovery on A110 (on ics)
Download CWM for MMX A110.
Flash it via MobileUncle MTK tools.
Root Micromax A110 (on ics)
Download bin4ry's rooting tool.
Extract it, connect your phone and run RunMe.bat file.
Follow instructions as stated.
Install drivers for Micromax A110 (on ics)
Download pdanet.
Connect your mobile when it asks.
Booting in to clockworkmod Recovery:
Press Power + Volume Up + Volume Down when your A110 is switched off.

Just recieved the phone 2 hrs back, initial impressions are good.
Screen is a huge improvment over micromax a100.gpu scores in antutu is only 790!!:cryingA100 had higher scores.)
however Hookup application is not getting activated..please help guys!

Please post snapshots of various benchmark tests.
And I don't think hookup is something different or better than other such apps like whatsapp. Btw, why isn't it activating? Is your phone connected to data?

Hi Friends!
Successfully rooted my device using "Root with Restore by bin4ry" method.
Once connected with PC, the drivers get installed automatically. No need to search or run around for the same.
Then follow bin4ry method and have your phone rooted!!
Of course at your own risk.
I guess I told you about that tool in the a21 OP, you can thank me for that. :kidding:
Btw, can you add some snapshots so that it can make a good read on my blog? Please post benchmark scores too. Is it based on MT6573/75/77? If yes, then I can arrange a cwm port for it!

somewhere i have also seen a 4k antutu score for a110..cant find the exact link though.
And yes...data was on when i tried to activate hookup
These scores are varying and just meant to be an approximation. They shouldn't be (and can't be) taken seriously enough to gauge a device's performance.

STEPS:-
1) copy the downloaded file to your sd card
2) Get to stock recovery via mobileuncle app.

3) Now enter recovery mode (by pressing power and both volume buttons together)
4) Select recovery mode by pressing vol up button
5) select install zip from sd card
6) choose the folder in sd card where you have placed the jellybea zip. select that file.
7) now let it install
8) wipe dalvic cache from recovery
9) reboot.
congrats!! now you are on jellybean.
NOTE:- first boot may takke upto 2 minutes.
Rooting:-
- Replace the 'recovery.img' in the SP Flashtool file of V2 ROM with cwm recovery.img. from droidiser.com
- Load the scatter file and uncheck all options except recovery.img
- Run the flash tool. It will flash cwm recovery.
-download the cwm file from the given link and flash it via cwm.
- You are rooted.

I know that I've missed a few roms but its not because i didnt see them, rather its because i feel that they offer no susbtatial difference wrt other roms and have hence been given the cold shoulder
Android 4.2 on MMX A110
In order to enjoy 4.2 goodness on your 4.1 phone, simply flash the 4.2 Mod package from:

However photosphere is not working on our mmx a110
I'd suggest you to flash the 15-11-2012 stable package as it has given me the best results so far.
Current issues and their solutions:-
1) Gmail zoom: solution...redownload and flash again....this fixed it most people
2) 2nd sim not working: solution...flash modem.img from V2 rom link:- http://www.2shared.com/file/uYEnv01e/modem.html
3) Camera app not working: solution...reboot.
4) Auto rotate feature not working...flashing the rom after a redownload has solved the problems for most people.
5) Music app not working...use alternative music players from play store
6) SD card not recognised/ damaged....copy contents to pc and format the sd card....then put this formatted sd card into the phone.
1. Phone's Loudspeaker tweak: to Increase speaker volume

1. swap to hardware testing
2. select audio
3.Select loudspeaker mode
4. Change the max value to 145.(u can set any value bet 128-160...but dont go beyond 150 it may spoil your loudspeaker)

How to install: Uninstall previous version either from system/app or from data/app depending upon whrever u hv installed the previous gmail. Reboot. Now install this version as normal apk.

Hey guys, here are 2 more Jelly Bean custom ROMs which work flawlessly on our A110, put the Boot.IMG from Cynus T2 Jelly Bean ROM to new ROMs and then these will flash fine with CWM Recovery. Apply the Baseband and Bluetooth patch (Modem.IMG from Stock V2).

Just like to mention that DrBhokaliV3_pre_beta is already Pre-Rooted (in fact it has chainfire su binary) ...It doesn't require any rooting ...just normally flash it via CWM and you're done...! Please update the third point in the first post mentioned in the Quote.

It's good to see that JB is here for Micromax A110. I'm proposing to all active members of this thread to post few more lines on JB at the first post of this thread. As it is ported from MyCynus T2, I read there are some posts on over heating or dual SIM issue. JB users please let all know whether all of you are facing same issue on dual SIM and over heating?

Second...i flashed your V3 on my phone and it said it was not rooted in root checker.Hence i had to flash that script to get root access.
so i just posted what i did.

Second...i flashed your V3 on my phone and it said it was not rooted in root checker.Hence i had to flash that script to get root access.

Stock Music app working for me bro. I had this problem in ics...switched to play music (from play store- free)...all problems solved.

Thanks mate for your words, but i think quite a few ppl have flashed it including my self (of-course) and none of them reported this. I've also flashed it once again now...and its fine with root. Can u please check again.

I didn't use any tool at all
I was using this ROM for about a weak even though
There is no WiFi Bluetooth GPS
Just becos of its looks
Then I googled porting lewa ROMs , I followed the first googles find in xda that's it
One way suhas and you are also inspiration for this
Normally I don't have much time to do this stuff
Professionally I'm a java developer
But got some time and did it
Basically I was planning to help u, later on did it on my own

Why are you always bragging in each and every thread about vibrate on call feature? absurd....
Use Contacts.apk, Contactsprovider.apk from cynus T2 ROM, in whatever ROM you using... or else simply use Cynus T2 ROM !

'cos the device is primarily a phone and only later a gaming or entertainment device. anything that helps make communication safe and easy should be promoted. i've even authored a new thread on the subject and a few senior members / rom chefs have 'liked' it too. the usb otg thing is a plus for mmx a110, esp when newer phones from micromax themselves do not have it.
haven't you heard the saying "different strokes for different folks". and hey, you'd do well not to get so worked up, ok? btw, "bragging" is not what you mean it to be. pls. check your pm box.

Friend,
there is no boot.IMG file in my ROM. you 1st add boot.IMG in to ROM .zip
or download http://goo.gl/vbpy2
put in SD card 1st flash this zip (boot.IMG)
then flash ROM
it will works like charm.....

- move boot.img in to open window

I am using you ROM nd quite happy with it for general operations. all things work flawlessly.
And wanted to add, i have been using projectextreme and also a file provided by him to improve nenamark scores

i may change the boot animation to have the original, i am proud of mmxA110 and its ok for me to have the canvas 2 animation...

@ OP, battery backup feedback needed. As of now i am on another ROM with battery calibration (only) and no other tweaks added and trust me i am getting 2 (48 Hours) full days backup with normal usage (no games) with still battery showing 21% remaining on 51'st hour
Hopefully i get a better once i flash this update.

Hi, which ROM are you using?? I am on SUVI v10, i get an average of 51-52 hours with normal usage (no games) and very moderate usage of GPRS..

STEPS TO FOLLOW AFTER FIRST BOOT
This ROM is made for HD device and our device is FHD so when u first boot the rom it looks like this
DONT PANIC its normal
just run the app "resolution changer"
grant superuser permission
press ok 3 times
select width -1080
select height -1920
slect DPI - 480
press enable
press ok 3 time
reboot.
Everything will be normal.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ):
1. How to enable air command?
- Hold capacitive menu button
2. How to use multi window?
- Drag 2 apps from sidebar to home screen
3. How to hide/show sidebar?
- Long press back key button for 2-3 seconds
4. Why Led indicator (sms/call notifications at top) is not working for incoming missed-call or missed-sms?
- Install Light Manager (included in rom) and change LED color to "Green" for CALLS and SMS and also run Test to check color. LEDs of phone can show only two colors, Green and Red, so do not change to any other color, else LED LIGHTS will not work.
5. Why do I always experience Unfortunately, SystemUI has stopped?
- If you have facebook messenger installed, drag down chat head(s) to close it then reopen messenger application shortcut to restore System UI back to normal. (Do this if you encounter similar issue with other messenger applications like Viber, Skype, etc...)
- Freezing Facebook messenger will also solve this issue.
- Just found out that even the original HDC Galaxy Note 3 clone which is the source of this ROM also experience this issue.

Just go in philz recovery
wipe data/factory reset
format system
install ROM
reboot
if ask for recovery flash select NO.

Hey bro, Installed last night and using it since, with out sleep
1st thing I notice is resolution problem as shown in ss below, even its the problem some apps like whatsapp, After using kk custom rom, this ROM feels little laggy, and battery obviously not impressive, anyway core is a jellybean system so can't expect more in terms of performances
but if this ROM was available b4 kk update its the best note3 mimic ROM so far, camera quality is superb, but MP is inverse, front is having 13mp and rare with 6mp, i think it should be vice versa,
Aircommmand only pops up, which make me so happy but sad that only search options works on it
multiwindow is Woking with litl lag but it works :thumbup:, any idea of including other apps in side bar for multiwindow, tried all muilti window manager apps on play store.
Smart stay works sometimes or may be I don't know how to make use of it
Dolby and music player is working like charm
Air gesture works well on launcher and gallery
Really ROM looks premium,
I would suggest any who want to have a best note3 ROM its would be this

but i dont know how ur camera megapixels are inverted
u can see in screenshot that i have normal MP size.

@chinasa is having KK (his phone came with KK rom)
he flashed philz recoery.
was using andorid L then he tried JB rom from philz
but there is camera issue.

I'm using CTR v2.5 was on SG S5 octamond, this recovery can flash both jb and kk ROMs, even now I flashed xperia z3 style kk custom ROM over the note3 rom by this recovery

Is ur phone came with JB.
FLashing rom is ok.
just try taking backup of jb rom
flash kk rom take backup
now restore each and try if its working(noth jb and KK backups)

Have u flashed sotck KK before installing roms.
Just try flashing philz and try restoring kk/jb rom if it works.
if not just flash whole kk stock rom with sptools first and then use philz
try jb/kk restore

When kk stock rom was new, i was on stock jb 4.2.1, using CTR v2.4 i was able to take backup & restore of stock jb to test other jb roms like miui, SGN3 etc. when puduraj sir & u made easy to flash kk rom, i switched to kk permentaly, I usually replace the recovery file with custom (CTR v2.5) recovery in the folder and then flash it using sptools. Was using for long, then when u released LGG3 ROM, I wasn't sure of switching so I took backup stock kk ROM, and flashed LGG3, at certain point I got bored of custom rom so tried of restoring but was not successful, so I flashed SGS5 then urs original SGN3 now on xperia ROM, all flashed using CTR v2.5, from my experiences in CTR v2.5 backup of both jb&kk works on it but only jb roms can be restored.

just flash rom again with philz and take backup of both
see if all things are working (mainly camera)
then restore one by one and see if all working:good:

is this jb or kk..ur header shows jb and sc shows kk...
This is rom is the best rom I've seen so far.. Its just that the resolution thingy went bad.. Rest all features work with a boom.. What only thing matter to me is the resolution.. N i am pretty sure that avi sir will fix this soon.. Thanks for this great rom sir.. !
