I am looking to buy a Razr Maxx HD, unlocked, for Verizon. Online, the VZW store price is $650. Amazon Wireless has is for $700! And there are a few on ebay for even more! Nothing on CL.
Any other places worth checking?
Razr maxx HD unlocked on Verizon? I'd say you are.getting scammed. There is a dev HD on verizon but no Maxx unlocked.... (as of yet as far as I know)

Sorry, I meant no-contract phone.
Wirefly?

Cheapest price anywhere is the Verizon price for a non-contract phone purchase (and plan to pay 691 bones more or less depending on your state tax rate - effing gov't...). Already did the extensive search, everyone is more expensive (base price) than VeeZeeDub. That's the price we pay for wanting the latest and greatest when it first releases (just picked up mine yesterday to keep my unlimited data plan, which I am thinking is your reasoning for the off-contract purchase as well).
Personally, I think it's worth every dollar of that 691 bones, and that's coming from a perpetual "buyer's remorse" personality
Wow your taxs must be high. Bought the dev from moto website and total with tax is 635.99.

Our taxes are probably about the same, doing a quick calculation I'm guessing your rate is 6%, mine is 6.35% (CT sucks arse in more ways than just this). I bought the MAXX HD, you got the HD Dev. HD Dev is 600 bones, MAXX HD is 650. I wanted the larger battery, and I'm in no need of an unlocked phone since they already have a rooting method for the HD (and MAXX HD of course).
And I'm also banking on the developers here having the skillz to unlock this bad boy by the time I need it unlocked (if ever).
Ah, durp. that makes sense. Yea MD sales tax is 6%.

I think I'm about to major downgrade cuz us cellular service area sucks and I can't pay 400 bucks for a contract cuz I have no credit. so prepaid is way to go... if I could get a phone with the unlimited data on prepaid that would be sweet. but verizon got rid of tht and now has 80 per month limited to 1gb.... anyway does the droid 2 have a locked bootloader?

As far as I know, all Motorola Android phones except the original Droid (and "developer" editions of a few other models, sold without warranty) have locked bootloaders. The Droid 2/D2G/R2D2 definitely do.
It is a 24 month contract 10.70x24=256.8 the normal price with no contract is 400+ and you dont get the plan....
i think its a good found... the site is secure, i got 2 friends who got phones from there

I currently have a RAZR maxx and I'm being offered by Verizon to switch to the s iii because of problems with recent replacement phones.
2 questions.
1. Is this a smart move? Newer phone less battery.
2. I have a very old cheap unlimited data plan. I am scared of loosing it. Could that happen? I have lost a text plan this way in the past.
Thanks in advance.

I used to dread data caps, but I did an inventory of all my usage and I never really needed more than 3 average, a few months of 5 or more but I just do updates over Wi-Fi now or large downloads like wise, I have an s3 and I absolutely love it. Battery life is the best I've ever seen, came from an evo, still use that too. Gs3 is definitely a good buy.

It not so much the data cap. It's the almost $100 a month it would cost me more for just 2gb. It is a great plan!

So if u accept the s3 they'll force u to give up the unlimited?
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
Not worth it. Don't lose your unlimited data plan. Buy the phone on craigslist then sell your RAZR maxx.

They won't take unlimited away due to a swap. Swapping devices due to bad replacements is not renewing your contract. Just like if you buy a phone for full retail it doesn't take unlimited away either.
If you can swap without losing your unlimited data plan then definitely go for it
My mom had the razr and step dad razr maxx, but i put a custom rom in the razr, pretty much the same as maxx minus extra battery power . I have s3, i think S3 is better. Motorola is behind on roms, more restricted I think. But still a great looking phone. But you can't change the battery on the razrs, so s3 wins in that department imo.
There is a thread in the stickies for other phone discussions
Thanks

I've been stalking a few broken phones on ebay. Besides clean esn's what else do I need to be aware of?
My plan is to send it to moto for repairs. It should still be cheaper than $600 retail.
Thoughts?

I'm upgrading from the Bionic. It just got JB but I'm a gadget person and held a Maxx HD Saturday, and fell in love with it.
I'm also stuck in unlimited 4G data limbo where I can't use the discounted pricing anymore, but I don't have $650 for retail :crying:
You could consider doing their payment plan it costs $24.
Or find someone who wants to sell an upgrade on craigslist. Good luck.

I got mine for $280 on eBay last week. Lucked out on an afternoon mid-week close.
If you look around you can find similar deals.
I bought mine on Swappa in January. Still in the box, never activated for $350.
I see a couple of Razr HD on the site for under $350 now.
I came from a Razr Maxx and went with a Razr HD (no Maxx).
It beats the battery on the OG Maxx hands down. Unless I try to drain it down, at the end of the day I'm good.
I will be selling my mint HD very soon as I am upgrading.

I ended up buying one off ebay that wasn't broken. Just didn't want to take the risk. I wish I had know beforehand that it needed a micro sim but that's my fault. One quick trip to VZ later and I was online.
I love this device. Such a step up from my bionic.
Rooted and unlocked bootloader before I even configured the phone.

I won a free Razr Max HD from MakewithMoto, and after talking with them I basically now have the choice between getting the regular model, or waiting and they'll try and see if they can get me the developer edition. (after I won, they had me email them, and they asked if I had any questions, I asked if it was the normal or developer edition, and they offered to try and get me the developer one)
My questions are:
1: regular or developer? I will definitely get the regular one sooner if I go that route. But would the developer edition be worth the wait?
2: I am an att user. However, I do know that some phones from Verizon come sim unlocked out of the box. Would I be able to pop in my att sim and use their network? I don't care about lte, so even using it on 3g is fine by me.
3: keep it or sell it for a different phone (the X Phone when it comes out)?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using xda app-developers app
Developer dosent matter you can unlock the bootloader when you get it. I doubt it has the newest update. If it's the xt926 and not the xt925 it won't work on att though.

I think this phone is fantastic but if you're not in need of one, you could sell it and get the x phone. Out of the box, you can get a good price, especially since you're trying to make it run on a different network might as well get something with which you can use 4G!
Who wants a 4.3" display? That's all I've seen on X phone leaks. Droid ultra could be interesting.
I would consider getting a regular edition and sell it new on ebay. Then use the money to get subsidised pricing and pay phone bill.

I've seen plenty of leaks saying 4.7" on the display size.

Get the developer version or get the Verizon version and sell it to get the HTC One or some other phone.
The Verizon version is going to be a pain to get working because of the SIM lock for US carriers.

Something to consider, maxx hd only comes in retail version no developer.you may get more money on the resale with the maxx.
