I'm running AOKP jelly bean and was wondering how I can make the app switch button actually bring up the app switcher and get the soft menu button back.
I've searched up and down and I feel like I must be the only person that wants to do this. I honestly can't stand the delay to bring up the app switcher.

Gah, meant to edit my post to clarify but theres the stupid 5 minute wait. Yeah I looked all over, I don't think AOKP has that option. You can turn on soft buttons but you can't change the hard button functions.

Does your multitask button actually bring up multitasking? If so, there is a way to change it to bring up the menu.. It's probably more hidden in AOKP

No they have it set solely as the menu button. You hold home to bring up multitasking.

Seems like this post got missed...Thanks Shawn. Was having the same issue.
I was under the impression that the AOKP team didn't care to include the functionality. I don't think it's in the current AOKP nightlies or milestones and it definitely isn't in Rohan's King Kang ROM, at least, as of the most recent release (11/25).
As much as I like AOKP, this has always bothered me enough to make me keep CyanogenMod on my phone. It's not even so much about the key setup itself; I can get used to new layouts. However, AOKP's always been about being able to customize the hell out of your phone, so why isn't this a feature when CM10 has had it for some time now?

Hello all!
I have looked for the subject but couldn't find a good solution. There are some simple camera applications but it is not suitable for me. Is there anything like patch to make standard camera make shot using volume keys like in iPhone? I don't understand why HTC still didn't make it in settings of camera as an optional feature for camera.
Thanks.

I just tried this app and it works like a charm. Very simple to set up, just installed, run it, change the function of the volume key (I used the volume up key), apply and reboot.
Thanks to simplytheone.
I know. I've been looking everywhere for a feature like this. We need an alternative.

Hello all, i have downloaded and tried this application. It is working, no problem but is quite inconvenient. If i map camera to volume buttons, volume functions are disabled, if map to power button, power functions are disabled .
why not try this one:
ViperS 1.6.3 does have this feature (among many other tweaks)

Still trying to get a menu button, the hardware key settings in clean tools seems to be fouled. Set menu to long press home it works, three dot menu still present in apps however, custom text on lock screen doesn't work, loop scroll home pages doesn't work, custom background image quick settings doesn't work.
Will test more tom.

I can also confirm the remapping issue with the "recent apps" hw button.
Any chance to add in the app drawer dimensions as a choice?
This is looking really good, I've been waiting for a new cleanrom to come out, thanks for all the work!
Flashed and testing.
1) Battery percent icon, numbers could be thicker like the 4.1 SE battery. Hard to read.
2) Hide operator name in status bar all the time as an option would be nice, not just lockscreen.
3) Set Recent apps button to Menu. Doesn't do anything. Set long press to Menu also does nothing.
4) Would like to change the app drawer. I like more items, but some might like 4x5 or whatever instead, like stock.
Did some other settings, like no animation on unlock, quick settings as recent with no current alerts and other options, seems to be working.
That is just what I found off the bat.
Will report back with more.
Otherwise, I really like where this is heading!!!

Its just finicky to say the least. But it does appear the Menu option will not work at this time but the other options do seem to be working.
Keep the bugs coming.
It would appear from the screen caps that this is using the stock ICS multitasking. Does that mean it's fixed???!!!???
captiva button mods dont seem to be working ( unless a reboot is required after selecting something ) although no pop up shows stating this.

Hello,
First let me say thanks for all the amazing roms and for making my device a 100 times better. I am running the second instalment of the xoom dev aokp (now official!) i see that is supports Long press volume to change songs when the screen is off, however i cant seem to get it to funciton. I found the setting that enables screen wake w/ volume keys but not to change songs... i also dont see a native music player so i am using google music. Please help. any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks again.
CM10 has that very same feature and it works perfectly fine on my VGS3. I know AOKP has more features and mods then CM10 (so i've heard) but if you're looking for that specific feature then why not go with CM10. This is just a confirmation that the volume rocker track skip feature is definitely working on the rom i'm using (CM10). Just thought I'd let you know. The version I'm using is Here

the thing is, i love the ROM I'm on Beantown jellybean build 8 to be precise, and volume up to skip is a feature of that ROM. I think it is a great feature.
I did another mod to include acid sound enhancements and have lost the volume rocker mod. I was hoping I could add the volume rocker mod back in manually to try and get both.
Is it not possible to add the mod on its own?
Flashlight apps make AOKP for Verizon GS3 reboot
Hi.
First of all, thanks to the developers of AOKP for making this terrific ROM.
I installed it 5 days ago, and have had only 1 issue: if I install, and then try to use a flashlight app, it causes the GS3 to reboot.
I tried it with 3 different flashlight apps that I had successfully tested on the GS3 when it was unrooted with the OTA 4.1.1 ROM update; and, with the 4.1.1 rooted stock ROM.
Those apps are
Flashlight: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...me.ledflashlight.washer&feature=search_result
TESLA LED Flashlight: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.flashlight&feature=search_result
Flashlight HD LED: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ch.smalltech.ledflashlight.free&feature=search_result
I have already done a factory wipe, cleaned the regular and Dalvik caches and re-installed each app fresh.
Despite this, the flashlight problem persists.
I always make a lot of use of my smartphone flashlight; so, this is a huge inconvenience.
Any suggestions?
Thanks, in advance!

Hello,
In Lollipop I would like to get the feature back where in ICS I would go into recent Apps and long press on an app and a dialog opened offering App Info and stuff.
Is it possible to get it back?
ps. I prefer running stock rooted android, but have no problems with patches
I miss that feature too. I was always used that for uninstalling recent installed apps.
More quicker IMO.

I see exactly zero reasons why App's info cannot be shown just by long pressing the entire preview.

Now it works. I'm just enabled Developer Options under Settings. I'm not sure why...
Here is an app that allows you to hold your back button to kill the currently open application.
If popularity is high enough, I will update it with things like whitelist etc.
If you use a Samsung device, the only problem is that you can't show the MultiWindow bar anymore. I will work on a fix for it. I only made this because xposed doesn't work on Samsung Lollipop yet so this is what I wanted until it is. Once it works, I prolly won't ever touch this app again.
Thanks everyone!
UPDATE:
- Performance improvement
useful, thanks for this!!!!

So this is happening when using the navbar and not the physical buttons?
It seems like the up action isn't being triggered. I could try to implement maybe a double click back to kill option. Ill try to debug on my 5.0 emulator that uses the navbar and see if i can figure anything out. Weird how that's happening.
