[Q] Camera shot with volume key - HTC Sensation

Hello all!
I have looked for the subject but couldn't find a good solution. There are some simple camera applications but it is not suitable for me. Is there anything like patch to make standard camera make shot using volume keys like in iPhone? I don't understand why HTC still didn't make it in settings of camera as an optional feature for camera.
Thanks.
HTC Sensation, ICS 4.0.3, Sense 3.6.

i wish i have not seen anything like that

I just tried this app and it works like a charm. Very simple to set up, just installed, run it, change the function of the volume key (I used the volume up key), apply and reboot.
Thanks to simplytheone.

I know. I've been looking everywhere for a feature like this. We need an alternative.

Hello all, i have downloaded and tried this application. It is working, no problem but is quite inconvenient. If i map camera to volume buttons, volume functions are disabled, if map to power button, power functions are disabled .

why not try this one:
ViperS 1.6.3 does have this feature (among many other tweaks)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671547&highlight=sense+camera+aosp
btw: THE reason for me to coose this ROM :good:

Try Shot Control! It does the job!

[APP][REWRITE][2.1+] Fine Volume ControlV2, 100 different volume levels

Major rewrite - no longer uses the earpiece speaker
With the new app, you get 100 different volume levels from silent to full volume.
Works on Media/Alarm/Ringer & Notification/System (in-call excluded)
Still has the automatic overlay that appears when changing volume (ROM dependent) but also has a regular volume control app
More customisation
For those people using ROMs that don't support the automatic popup, there is a secondary launcher icon that shows the media volume dial for a few seconds.
48 Hour Trial: https://market.android.com/details?id=opotech.finevolumev2
Unlocker: https://market.android.com/details?id=opotech.finevolume.unlocker
Uninstall (or at least disable) the old app before using the new one
The old version of the app is now deprecated, but the unlocker will work with the old and new version. (you get both versions of the app if you buy the unlocker)
Deprecated
Fine Volume Control
I've just released a new app that enhances the standard media volume dialog by adding 2 functions:
A fancy volume dial (complete with glow) to use instead of repeatedly pressing the volume buttons
A finer volume setting that effectively lets you go below 1 bar of volume by redirecting sound to the earpiece speaker when you drop below a threshold marked on the slider.
Free version: https://market.android.com/details?id=opotech.finevolume
Full version: https://market.android.com/details?id=opotech.finevolume.unlocker includes more colours, dialog styles, adjustable dial sensitivity, size, toggle button pulse and removal of ads.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks!
Looks nice, but force closes on MIUI, but maybe that's to be expected.
Great Idea. I just tried the free version and am having a couple problems. There is no visual indication when turning the "dial". Some animation with min and max gauges would be nice.
My volume bar now doesn't increase or decrease when changing volume. No matter what the volume bar is always 3/4 full. I can see the yellow indicator line but it means nothing when the bar doesn't move.
This is a great idea. I definitely like being able to control the volume without pressing the hardware buttons, because mine are a bit worn down.
Unfortunately, your app doesn't work on my HTC Desire (using Gingerbread Sense). When I press either volume button, the normal Volume pop-up appears. When you update the app, I will try it again
Good luck and keep up the great work!

What version of android is MIUI? I've had a report of FC on a 3.2 device and it needs fixing for that. Unless MIUI has a different volume dialog layout, it should work. Can you post here or submit a stacktrace? Thanks!

There's a brushed texture to the dial that turns with it, maybe it's too faint. min/max could be added, good suggestion. What device/rom/version of android do you have?

Hmm yeah it doesn't appear to move to me. I'm using an HTC Evo 3D 2.3.4 stock ROM rooted.
Again though, great idea for more fine control, I can't believe android doesn't have such a feature. Work the few kinks out and you have my support friend!

Does the volume level change and then redirect to the earpiece at all, so it's just that the UI is stuck?

I've coded a fix for that crash, thanks! The dialog won't match the honeycomb theme (for now at least).
Another thing, the finer volume function won't work on a device if it's lacking an earpiece speaker. You'll still be able to use the dial to control media volume, though.
I'll release an update soon.
Just released an update.
V1.1
• Fixed F/C on Honeycomb and some non-stock ROMs.
• Tidied up Preference Screen.

Don't see much of a difference in sensitivity (free version) when it comes to the fine tuning. However, threshold idea is great! Should unlock some more stuff for the free version. Seems almost all the useful stuff is locked! This app needs some work, but ultimately, pretty smart idea.

I've a better idea. Why doesn't the Dev unlock everything in the free version and then make a 'donate' version available on the Market? The difference being that the Dev donates to the person downloading...
The idea is for people to buy this. You know, a bit of 'pay back' for all of the hours I am sure he put into it. If too much is unlocked then why would anyone bother?
Unbelievable.
EDIT: Congratulations on making the XDA News page
thanks about to try it out now.....
just download it
HTC EVO 3D with VirusRom (Senseless). The application works great, however, if the volume is at max and I press the volume up button, the FVC interface doesn't show. If I click the volume down button the menu will display. Would be great if the interface displayed either way, in case you needed to mute your phone in an instant, etc.

Still trying to get a menu button, the hardware key settings in clean tools seems to be fouled. Set menu to long press home it works, three dot menu still present in apps however, custom text on lock screen doesn't work, loop scroll home pages doesn't work, custom background image quick settings doesn't work.
Will test more tom.

I can also confirm the remapping issue with the "recent apps" hw button.
Any chance to add in the app drawer dimensions as a choice?
This is looking really good, I've been waiting for a new cleanrom to come out, thanks for all the work!
Flashed and testing.
1) Battery percent icon, numbers could be thicker like the 4.1 SE battery. Hard to read.
2) Hide operator name in status bar all the time as an option would be nice, not just lockscreen.
3) Set Recent apps button to Menu. Doesn't do anything. Set long press to Menu also does nothing.
4) Would like to change the app drawer. I like more items, but some might like 4x5 or whatever instead, like stock.
Did some other settings, like no animation on unlock, quick settings as recent with no current alerts and other options, seems to be working.
That is just what I found off the bat.
Will report back with more.
Otherwise, I really like where this is heading!!!

Its just finicky to say the least. But it does appear the Menu option will not work at this time but the other options do seem to be working.
Keep the bugs coming.
It would appear from the screen caps that this is using the stock ICS multitasking. Does that mean it's fixed???!!!???
captiva button mods dont seem to be working ( unless a reboot is required after selecting something ) although no pop up shows stating this.

[Q] How to restore capacitive button functions?

I'm running AOKP jelly bean and was wondering how I can make the app switch button actually bring up the app switcher and get the soft menu button back.
I've searched up and down and I feel like I must be the only person that wants to do this. I honestly can't stand the delay to bring up the app switcher.

Seems like this post got missed...Thanks Shawn. Was having the same issue.
I was under the impression that the AOKP team didn't care to include the functionality. I don't think it's in the current AOKP nightlies or milestones and it definitely isn't in Rohan's King Kang ROM, at least, as of the most recent release (11/25).
As much as I like AOKP, this has always bothered me enough to make me keep CyanogenMod on my phone. It's not even so much about the key setup itself; I can get used to new layouts. However, AOKP's always been about being able to customize the hell out of your phone, so why isn't this a feature when CM10 has had it for some time now?

[Q] Volume key wake up screen

Hey guys,
my one mini is rooted and i use it with magio rom v 3
Problem is the volume key wake funktion.
Sometimes it works but most of time it doesn´t work.
I tried Version 3, 4 and 5 but it´s always the same.
How can i fix it? It´s much more comfortable to use the volume buttons.
Hope somebody can help me.

I'm currently using Magio R3 and have been playing around with Volume Wake most of the day. So far it has been working fine. it hadn't failed on me once, but I will keep trying. Though I use the proximity sensor to turn on my phone which means I don't have to press any buttons.
I'm guessing your using Sense Toolbox Xposed framework add-on with the Volume Wake function? Have you tried updating Sense Toolbox from the Xposed app? I'm currently using the latest version, maybe that makes some difference? Also have you installed any kind of battery saver which might put your phone into deep sleep?

Are you s-off? In guessing not. If so you could use titanium or something similar to remove old toolbox first, then install new one.
Otherwise try Aroma File Manager from recovery, and delete the apk from System > Apps folder and install latest from Xposed. If after it doesn't work as expected, move the newly installed version apk from Data > Apps back to it's original location in System > Apps.

I think this may run deeper, maybe kernel related? but that's where my knowledge stops. With my setup it's still been working flawlessly the last couple of days.
Maybe it has to do with where the app is installed, user or system? Maybe your superuser version? I do have a lot of apps installed with a few background processes that may keep things alive when the phone is idle. Could be a lot of things stopping this from working..

I use gravity screen on off https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.plexnor.gravityscreenofffree. I don't use all the features of this app, just the proximity on, keep screen on with motion, and the gravity off feature, which turns your phone off when upside down. It runs a process in the background, but it's a small amount of ram it uses.

[APP] [4.3+] Hold Back To Kill [ROOT]

Here is an app that allows you to hold your back button to kill the currently open application.
If popularity is high enough, I will update it with things like whitelist etc.
If you use a Samsung device, the only problem is that you can't show the MultiWindow bar anymore. I will work on a fix for it. I only made this because xposed doesn't work on Samsung Lollipop yet so this is what I wanted until it is. Once it works, I prolly won't ever touch this app again.
Thanks everyone!

It seems like the up action isn't being triggered. I could try to implement maybe a double click back to kill option. Ill try to debug on my 5.0 emulator that uses the navbar and see if i can figure anything out. Weird how that's happening.
