[Q] Cyanogenmod 10 crt lock animation works sometimes. Help? - HTC One S

I really like the crt lock animation, I got cyanogenmod and it never worked for me. I though "oh whatever" and carried on. Today I locked it after doing something and the crt lock animation worked and played. I tried it and out of 20 times it worked 8 times. How can I get it to work every time?

Wait until they fix it. Seems to be a race condition between the animation and display off...i.e. the animation plays every time, but you only see it sometimes. Probably should have posted in the CM thread.

Its more general than that, It seems to be happening with any cm10/jb based rom I've tried. It generally works if you have an app open and hit the power button, but if you're just sitting on the homescreen it blacks out instead of doing the crt.

wifi on = crt animation

Don't know if i have ever posted on this forum. but i did have a login. surprised myself.
anyway....i noticed that the crt animation wasnt working for me either. i found this thread and worked thru the suggestion of application open. so i opened facebook and it took forever to load. i noticed i had my wifi off...hence the long load time for FB. i turned the wifi on and the crt animation worked again. turned wifi off.....no crt animation. this was/is the case repeatedly, regardless of app open or sitting at homescreen.
so for my situation:
wifi on = crt animation
wifi off = no crt animation

It has been fixed for some time. Using the latest nightly, I get the animation every time.

Only on the market now.
Worked for me on my EVO with CM6. For me it basically just skipped the splash screen and booted straight from the boot animation. It was definitely quicker.
Now what are the +\- of using this versus just doing a normal reboot? Pretty much what does a normal reboot provide us that this cant?

On the galaxy S it is 2 times as fast as a normal reboot (clocked: 19s. hot reboot, 43s. normal reboot) Don't know about the EVO CM6.
+ is that one can kill all tasks at once and start with a clean system (snapier)
+ if one has to reboot because of a change: faster
+ beautiful reboot animation
- the system isn't totally reinitialised from the start (properties from build.prop aren't reset), but then again why does it have to?
- don't know yet.
I see it as a fast task killer, system memory cleaner and a handy, fast reboot option if changing something requires that.
Works very well on my SGS too. I get to regain as much memory as a cold boot.
Just 2 things:
1. Can the app implement a confirmation text box in case of accidental tap?
2. I am not seeing the beautiful reboot animation. Did you mean the circular thing that comes before it shuts off?
Minor side effect: If wifi was on before the reboot, wifi remains off although wifi is still showing as on from notification bar. Have to off then on wifi again to reconnect.
I forsee myself using this app very often from now on. Good job!

Actually a good idea. And users can set that on or off if they want. Good tip!

Yep!!! Don't you like it
But expect more in the future. I'm planning a whole multimedia show when the user reboots his device. Then it will be a real hot reboot app!

Will look at it.
Next to useless
Yeah sure it reboots the graphics shell but it doesnt kill any other apps to be honest, when I come back from a cold reboot I am usually left with about 205 megs of mem but with this 134 averegae after 5 retries. uninstalling from my Samsung Galaxy S
I've put that to a test. I started an application like msn talk which I know would stay running in the background. Upon using this hot reboot, the application restarted as well.
On the side note, my galaxy s never had any free memory more that 160 megabytes on cool boot. This hot reboot gives about 140 megabytes, which I found reasonable to use.

Brilliant idea. Of course coming from Nederlands!!!
Do you have the same program for the WM6.5, which comes originally with the HJD2??? Is it fully safe ??? I have horror to the confused "usual" hard resets...
Please post the command this app uses to achieve this.
I've seen my phone do this sometimes, (unexpectedly reboots in <20 seconds)
Interestingly if you're on a phone call at the time, the call stays active all the way through the boot screen until the lock screen appears again. (the phone app gets restarted I guess)
thanks
does NOT work on nexus one with eViL's NXSense v.1.20. asks for root, once it gets it, the phone freezes. need to remove battery to restart phone.
I just tried this on my rooted Samsung Moment. All that happens is a popup says "rebooting" for a second, then disappears. Nothing else appears to happen...
It works on my Eris using 2.2 ROMs.
Some background info (hope this answers all the questions above): the app kills the system server and reboots android without rebooting the linux kernel. It uses busybox to execute the command because not all devices come with the same set of linux/unix commands. So yeah, you need to have busybox installed otherwise you see only the beautiful animation. Furthermore, there are buggy busyboxes around so you may wish to install the newest from the market.
Just installed on my EVO. Worked perfectly.
Thanks.

Did you have the former version of my (lite) LCD DC on your phone. It contained a bug that sometimes caused a unsolicited reboot at startup The newest updates of both versions have this bug (definitely) fixed.
Thank you, thank you!
This is the kind of App that makes my life simpler. Thanks so much for such a simple app that is Incredible useful!

No I have never tried those apps. Restarting the phone fixed the problem. The restarts happened while on a call. (5 times)
This app works great btw.

No screen off animation in CM7

Just finished installing CM7 and realized I dont get the cool screen off animation. I do have it checked in the CM settings. The odd thing is I flashed CM7 the other day before going to a different ROM and I did have the screen off animation. Any ideas why this could be happening?

Did you wipe data/dalvik before switching back to CM7?
I found out that if you turn the animations to 'fast' in spare parts, you wont get that cool animation.. try turning it to normal ^_^
Yep, works

Thanks for this. Was wondering why it didn't work.
If you turn "Window Animations" to normal, you can get screen off animation working.
You must turn "Transition Animations" to normal as well to get screen on animation working.

[Q] Removing CRT On Animation

Hey all.
I recalled seeing a thread about the CRT On animation causing the phone to be unresponsive / slow when pressing the Power button. I also feel that this seems to slow down the phone a bit.
Is there a way to keep the off animation, while removing the on animation? I know that builds before KH2 don't have the on animation, so is it possible to just rip a file out of them and overwrite it in my current ROM?
Thanks!
Download spare parts and do window animation to fast

I just tried that, but that only seems to improve the speed the screen unlocks. I want to remove the CRT On animation, because it seems like it's slowing down my phone when I press the power button.
Applying those animations do give a good illusion of speed during regular use though.

I was just wondering the same thing. I like the CRT Off animation, but not the On animation.
The Final Valhalla ROM has on/off toggles for the CRT effects. It's also a badass ROM in itself and I would recommend to anyone not already using it.

Droid Ultra Screen Flickering / Refreshing

Hey guys. I'm having an odd problem. I'm not sure what the proper terminology would be to describe it but my screen randomly "flickers?" or "refreshes?" itself. It's pretty similar to the effect you get when you click on a link within an app and it does a Window Transition to either a website, opens a new app, etc. It is doing this without being triggered by any user interaction. I can be within an app or looking at my home screen (not touching the screen at all) and it will do this transition animation thing with the result being itself. Unfortunately, I am unable to recreate the scenario at will. It is completely random. Sometimes happening within minutes of itself and other times it will happen hours apart.
It started happening again as I'm typing. Since it looks a window animation, I went into Developer Option and changed "Window Animation Scale", "Transition Animation Scale", and "Animator Duration Scale" all to OFF. It is still doing it but now it just looks different when it does it. It's more like a flash now.
Have any of you experienced this before? If so, were you able to resolve the issue in any way? I apologize if my description isn't that great. If you need more info just let me know. Thanks a head of time for anyone who can offer even just a suggestion.

i think something its wrong in the system, this may sound too heavy for a solution but you should reflash your firmware.

Thanks so much for the response! After a few days of pulling my hair out about this...Would you believe that after I froze "MotorolaOTA" in Titanium Backup (I was tired of getting asked to update to 4.4.4) that I haven't experienced this issue anymore. Not a single flash, flicker, etc. Does that make any bit of sense lol? I can't believe that would cause my device to do that. Of course, it could just be coincidence that it stopped after I froze the OTA reminder. I don't know though, it sure does make it seem like that was the problem.

How come the boot animations app doesnt work on the s8 plus

Ive been rooted for awhile now so Ive tried finding out how to get boot animations and i tried this app called 'boot animations for super users' on the play store but every time i install a boot animation, when i reboot it always plays the stock samsung logo no matter how many different logos i try.I find it weard because it didnt work nor did it soft brick me.
OK, so 4th time trying to get the post to 'post up', 15 minutes after 1st attempt...
The app you refereenced seems to have marginal reviews.
To get a different boot animation, it needs to be flashed. I don't have any idea of how the app does it't thing.
Look around here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8+/themes
Maybe the app doesn't start at boot time and it starts later on, so when you restart you end up with the stock animation.
