Not possible. Its a hardware limitation.

which hardware can u be more specific is it the ram, processor, chipset or anything else.i have searched and found that lg optimus 2x has 512 ram and records 1080p so its not the ram so it must be processor is it that?

There's no way you can identify the single responsibility of an hardware limitation, it's brobably a multiple effect of different factor. By the way, who cares? The result is the same, as vishal24387 said, it's just impossible.
Cheers

Probably the camera itself is bad enough too.

[Q] d2g processor?

hi everyone at these great XDA forums i have a quick question, what processor does the d2g have? ive seen several reports say that its a TI OMAP 3630 and other reports saying that its a 3640, and frankly i have no idea which it is.
On a similar note, whats the real difference between the 3630 and the 3040? ive read that the 3630 handles memory better than the 3640, i dont know if theres a way to tell, and i dont know if theres anything else that is different between the two processors.

TI OMAP3630-1200
from motodev website:http://developer.motorola.com/products/droid2global/
so whats the difference between the 3630 and 3640?

not sure exactly this is what the wiki has for them:
# OMAP3640 - 1 GHz ARM Cortex A8 + PowerVR SGX530 GPU + 430 MHz C64x+ DSP + ISP (Image Signal Processor)+IVA 2+ hardware accelerator
# OMAP3630 - 720 MHz ARM Cortex A8 + PowerVR SGX530 GPU + 430 MHz C64x+ DSP + ISP (Image Signal Processor)+IVA 2+ hardware accelerator
So it almost looks identical but the one used in the D2G is the 3630-1200 meaning it's stock clocked @ 1200Mhz (1.2Ghz) so I'm not sure what's ticking different on the inside.
thanks for the reply newk, i didnt think much was different
I was actually told the D2G has the same cpu as the DX and M2 and not the D2. The different actually being D2 doesn't have 720 video recording ability, unlike the DX and M2, which have it possibly because of the cpu.

I can tell you the D2G does not have the ability to record in 720p or for now. We can only record in 420p.
I would love to see someone modify the video camera app to allow us to use 720p but I also think we may be limited by the camera sensor.
Milestone 2, which essentially is Droid 2 hardware wise with a GSM radio can do 720P. CPU is weaker than the one on D2G (3630-1000 on the MS2 vs 3630-1200 on the D2G). Camera sensor is the same on both. 5MP sensor is more than enough resolution wise not only for 720p but even for 1080p. I guess we will see some hacks in the future regarding 720p recording on D2G. Give it some time. I won't be surprised even if Motorola makes it official with some of the next updates. But, honestly, 720p video on most phones today sucks enough not to be worth it anyways. Doubt MS2 (eventually D2G) will be any better.
i believe its the camera sensor itself that doesnt support 720p, being the same sensor as in the droid og and all

[Q] RAM

Do you think 512MB RAM are enough for the Optimus 3D? And what kind of RAM has the SGS2 for example? Is it ddr1? And is it a big difference with ddr2 ram in the optimus 3d compared with other new smartphones?
The first time i red that the optimus 3d only has 512 mb of ram i thougt this isn't enough for a new smartphone but all i heard till now sounds really good. so what do you think?

+1, also, is 512mb enough to play resource heavy games? (note - i don't necessarily mean 3d games, just lets say the version of dungeon defenders or NOVA thats out in 6 or whenever months time) I don't know much about how much ram games use, all i know is you cant add any more ram to the phone (or any phone for that matter)
Thanks
Ian
it's absolutely enough!!!and it's also dualchannel ram so very fast.
And do you know what kind of ram other highend smartphones have? like the SGS2? And can you compare the ram in smartphones with the ram in pc: ddr2 in the optimus 3d = ddr2 in my pc?
Optimus 3D uses a dual-channel LPDDR2 memory controller. search on google and wikipedia
I know what the Optimus 3D has. I just can't find something for the Galaxy S2 and others ^^
Ah ok i found it. It's also DDR2

Its only fast until you run out of it, filling up 512mb of ram is pretty easy.

Thats what i was afraid of.
Me too and i'm really thinking about changing my order and buy a SGS2. I really prefer the design of the Optimus 3D and the SGS2 would be more than 100 € more expensive for me than the Optimus 3D. But the ram and the camera are two things that are much better on the SGS2. And there is much more activity on the SGS2 board on xda ... i'm not sure but at the moment i think the SGS2 is the better choice!?
512mb are absolutely enough, don't talk without sense do you want to install Crysis?than 512mb are not enough.
I know that it is enough for the next 6 months, maybe for the next year, but are you sure it is enough for new stuff afterwords? and did you compare the videos and pictures of sgs2 and optimus 3d? sry but the quality of the 3d is very bad compared with the sgs2. really don't get me wrong, i would prefer the lg not only because of the much better design, but those are two major things that can't be changed :/
and did you see latest gl benchmarks? why is the sgs2 that much better in the egypt test?
yes all.
You are talking about a pre-production model of Optimus 3D,so you have to wait the final rom.
The gs2 is very powerful but it have:
-gingerbread
-1.2ghz cpu(was 1.0ghz but samsung noticed that wasn't powerful as optimus 3d,so has overclocked it to 1.2ghz)
-final rom
so to compare the two device we have to:
wait 2.3.3 for the 3D,wait the final rom, overlock to 1.2ghz...then compare.
but i think this won't change anything with the quality of the camera.
buy a digital camera

I tried using SWAP if you mean the same. It's possible even on stock kernel. Boosted my RAM upto 3GB but hardly could notice any difference. 1080p videos still wasn't playing smooth.
Anyways, you can go ahead and try on stock kernel. I used that for 2 days didn't feel any notice so switched back as someone said (at facebook) that he also did that to his memory card and it got corrupt after using 2 months.

Expanding ram will not make phone play 1080p videos instantly...its merely CPU GPU stuff.....it can only provide some more space to run apps!!
XL has a 1GB of ram....out of which 800 MB is user acessible!!

Ya figured that! the reason 1080p videos doesn't work is because Sony underclocked the processor to 1ghz. As we have seen in custom kernels overclocking helps in 1080p video playback

ans: use thunderzap4.1 kernel which support zswap...by overclocking cpu 1080p video playback will support, but screen resolution will stay same as stock...no need for 1080p.

Not exactly .
Other phones with same SoC have the option for higher frame rate options (slo-mo) ..
It's just not available in the stock Android ..

Yeah, at a lowered resolution. The Nexus 5 is a 350USD phone, they've obviously cut corners to drop the price while still making any profit.

No, it can't record 4k. 4k is 3840 x 2160, the Nexus 5's sensor takes 3264 x 2468 images, as well as not being a 16:9 sensor.

You need to do some on how a camera works. If it's a hardware limitation, software can't do anything to change that.

It's possible to use 120 fps on nexus 5 (well, on the hardware side) The problem is that the drivers assigned to this are closed source.
Somebody seem to have managed to get a working driver with 120fps support. But it seems that it would need a custom camera app to get it working :/
