Hi:
After Froyo update my texts no longer send. To me, everything appears normal, sends normally etc, but the recipient never receives them. I am receiving sms normally though.
Any thoughts? I'm desperate to get this fixed.

EDIT: MMS seem to work fine, it is only standard sms which do not work.
Anybody? Any suggestions at all would REALLY be appreciated.

thats weird, mine in ok after the update. but before I update to froyo, I factory data reset my phone. did u try it?

Check the message center number, I use the aosp mms.apk so im not sure how to do it on samsung mms.apk...att has a device tutorial on their website, might be able to use it and find out...I use to work tech for att and 99% of the time if you are able to receive but not send, its the msg center number...its something like +13123149810 ..if I remember correctly (might be wrong but check)

also make sure its not the recipients fault, (problem with their network..etc..try sending a sms to yourself, and try sending to different people on different networks) ..its probably the msg center number, but just to make sure...

My wife was having a similar problem after upgrading to Froyo, but only when sending to certain contacts. Not all. We ended up noticing that some of her contacts numbers looked like +xxx-xxxx. When we added a 1 after the plus (so +1-xxx-xxxx), it started sending correctly. Kinda weird, but it worked for us. So check your numbers and maybe either remove the + or add a 1 before the area code and see if that works.
You can try taking out your SIM card, putting it onto an older ATT phone. Send the it a message and make sure you receive it , send one as well. Then put the SIM card back into the other phone. This method worked for me when I had similair issues.
Take all parentheses and dashes out of the contact numbers - 8001234567
Trust me, it will work.
If all of that fails, swap the sim card with a friend. See if texting works with his sim card. I know it sounds weird, but my daughter had a similar problem with her samsung phone. It turned out to be the sim card.

I am going to try a hard reset, since nothing else seems to work. I just haven't had time to re-install everything, so I haven't done it yet.

PS: If that fails, is there a way to re-flash the froyo update from AT&T, I originally flashed through Keis mini, but it will not let me do it, since I am now up to date as far as it's concerned.

I just discovered that sms do send if I use Handcent, or any other 3rd party software to send them.
Is there a was to re-install the stock messaging app only?

So im gonna make this short and sweet.
Had a thunderbolt, it was plagued with the nasty " sending texts to the wrong contacts " issue.
Got verizon to send me a droid 3! WOO AWESOME...
first thing i did was re sync, re download a few apps. cool great awesome story, but i noticed as soon as it was activated any text i send to a verizon phone gives me the delivery report " failed " ( using GOSMS. ) but i can recieve them, works with AT&T though... so..
called verizon, did a hard reset, re activated re updated PRL and had them do some stuff on their end.. to no avail.
Finally, put the phone into safe mode. sent a text using the stock text messaging application..worked fine.
so i uninstall GOSMS re install.. same issue, So i tried handcent.. same issue.
Now, this is reflected in the stock app. so if i send a message in GOSMS, and it fails.. if i go to the stock app it reflects that and says it failed.. ive tried EVERY messaging application and they all do the same thing... at this point im confused and out of things to try.
anyone have any idea's?

i just rooted and custom rom my verizon gnex, everything went smoothly. about an hour or so after i couldnt send sms anymore. i use sms for 75% of communication so needless to say i need a fix asap, please help

ok so i got a boost mobile moto g, great phone and all but.. i unlocked the boot loader, wiped the stock rom and installed cm11 and it went well for the first 2 days or so. i will now get "ghost" texts. it says my sister is trying to send me a multi-media text but she has never sent one. then it started saying "no APN specified on device" whenever it did this. then fixing my permissions with rom manager started deleting dolphin browser everytime i fixed em. also whenever i reboot my phone i must make a phone call before it will allow me to send a text or else the text just wont send. last but not least, yesterday i started getting texts from people that didnt send me a text or sms saying that i sent a text that the person i was texting had actually sent. anyone have the same problems? any luck on solving them?
This just started today. I haven't installed any new apps. I can make phone calls and send texts as I should be able to.
If anyone calls me it goes straight to voicemail and texts never get received.
I have tried clearing the data for my texts and phone under app settings and I have removed and reinserted the battery.
Please help.

Stock and rooted. Was working fine until yesterday.
Update - I restored an old backup and it worked again. I then restored back to current and it worked fine for about 10 minutes and stopped working again.

Any progress on this? Just had same situation...rooted stock, randomly can't make receive calls now (can make texts and calls fine tho).
Just a suggestion but I would call your provider next time it happens. They may be able to solve and give you the answer to why it's happening. Then you can fill us all in...
It turns out it was my simple card. They gave me a new one and it has been working perfectly ever since.

did you ever happen to find a solution? I have the same problem and am searching everywhere but coming up empty
I called customer support, they tried to do an update and reactivation and how it's totally off-network...couldn't reactivate, cant make receive calls or texts. So i went back to old phone and am waiting til I have time to unroot before taking it in. Pretty annoying.
