It's been great guys! - HTC Sensation

Moved on to the Galaxy Note II today, just wanted to say farewell guys! The Senny is a great device and I'll miss all of the modding with you all! Hope to see some more folks adopt the GN2 and turn it into a big success like the sensation!

Good luck with GN2. I am considering it myself. Any chance you could do mini comparison please, like UI, battery, size and general usability all compared to Sensation please?
Would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

hi,
It would be great to have your comments about the size.
Understand the benefits of a big screen, but for phone use the Note it is too big for me.
I found that 4,7" is the biggest that I can handle in my pocket.
how do you handle the GN2 in your normal day?
Thanks

I am considering upgrading to the Nexus 7 3G as a phone.

[Q] captivate or nexus S?

hey guys i've been avidly lurking in xda for a year now and running my cappy on GR-11 and I love it to death but my friend gave me his nexus S for free because he broke the simcard reader but i fixed it so now i have a free nexus S!! anyways i need to sell one of them but what should i keep? the cappy has awesome dev support and it can record 720p but the nexus is aosp andseems much more polished as a phone even with much less dev wsupport.
what should i go for? the main thing concerning me with keeping the nexus S is that it might not grow in dev support. is this true u think?
thanks, your friendly e-hood awesome man
obviously keep the nexus S, its got much better software support
NS any day of the week.
Yeah, this is an easy one. Listen to those guys^^^^^.
Before the official specs were released I said that once the Nexus S was available on AT&T I would snatch it up. That is until I realized that it had no external sd card slot. That is a huge deal breaker for me as I flash a ton of roms and keep all my music and backed up apks on there for convenience.
I absolutely love the captivate though and since it has such a large community of devs (I'm including I900 devs as well because how easy some things can be ported) I don't think I'll truly need a new phone for a long time.
duh....the nexus s....it's great for developing
but the dev support for nexus S is much smaller than cappy and also i cant watch hd movies on NS
Keep the Captivate. Why? Because the Nexus sells for more $.

Hahaha. I agree with this comment...
The Captivate with the new GB development that's booming still has amazing potential. Yeah, the NS already has GB, but the Captivate's still a great phone that's been cracked and tweaked in almost every way possible...
Sent from my Captivate.
The Captivate devs will eventually move on now that the SGS II is here. So it's really up to you.
The NS is pretty new but dev support will keep growing for it. And it will get all the latest OS updates first!

Yeah, but the $ he gets from the Nexus will bring the SGS2 closer to his pocket.

Best answer ever!
I would keep the Captivate purely because 16GB is not enough for me. Nexus S lacks a micro SD slot. But if you couldn't live without a FF camera or NFC (lol) then Nexus S.

[Q] new phone advice?

hi guys n girls
looking at getting a new phone tomorrow and just wondering what u guys would recomend
ive been looking at the htc evo 3d
the galaxy s 2
and the galaxy note
really not interested in an iphone though as i hate apple
any advice would be greatly recieved,
many thanks
steve
ps current phone is the galaxy s 1
I have an Evo 3D and enjoy it, the Galaxy 2 is excellent as well. The Note is not in the US yet, but I plan on getting one soon. AT&T looks like they will have it first, though I somewhat prefer Verizon.
At the end of the day there are a lot of good phones, it depends on what the carrier has. I could go either way on AT&T and Verizon, so I'll probably go with whoever get's the Note/Journal first.
galaxy s2 if u want good performance and nice phone
Hi Steve,
Well you said it all by saying the names of the candidates. I wouldn't get the HTC because either SGS2 and Note have a really good performance (better than HTC Evo 3D i'd say), also i've known HTCs for having bad camera performances..
I have the SGS2 and it's just amazing, i love how smooth and fast it is.
If you want a bigger screen then you know the Note is for you, you can also use it to make drawings and stuff like that if you're creative or in the other way around, if you want 3D, the HTC is your phone.
In my opinion i'd get the SGS2, i don't really like HTC phones because of their UI and not really good performances overall.
EDIT: also, the SGS2's camera is really good imo, i love its quality and the videos are stunning as well. Don't forget how thin and light it is!
Good luck on your decission
Galaxy note is better if you like a big screen
thanks for the replies,
just thought are there any other phones (uk market) that anyone would recomend over these
i do like the idea of a large screen and also like the idea of 3d photos
y do they make it so hard to choose now lol
cheers
steve
Lol yeah, you could check LG phones or Sony Ericsson Experia (or future Sony only Experia), but i don't recommend LG because of their bad SO update reputation
There's a lot to choose, but my suggestion is the SGS2 or Note.
Depends on your price. I had a galaxy s 2. But the forums were full of idiots and noob questions. Plus being honest what the hell is the point in all that power when battery isn't the best.
Anyhow Bought a nexus s unlocked from cpw for 199 and put the extra 150 towards a holiday. And now I have a gorgeous looking phone with a great community behind it. And great support from Google. No UI over the the phone. So despite not being dual core. Its fast.
And don't even start about quadrant!!!!!! Lol

forgot to mention my budget , i can get any phone i wish on contract over here for free so money is no issue
Wait for those A15 cores!
I love HTC products, but of that list the G SII is the best choice... in my opinion.
I'm assuming you're on Sprint?

[Q] Keeping my Desire S vs Samsung Galaxy SCL

Hi guys.
I have my desire s since september. Can't say I'm not happy with it. I just recieved a Samsung Galaxy SCL and have to sell one of the two because of mony issues. I'm a little confused right now. I like desire s because I love sense and it has much more roms than galaxy scl. But in the other hand, I like galaxy's bigger screen and battery ammount, and can't really decide.
Any tips?
You will not get an unbiased opinion in here! Keep the DS. Screen size aint everything and I'd be amazed if the Samsung section of XDA is as friendly as this one!

Keep the DS... Stable ICS is coming. Followed by Sense 4.0 - You will NEVER be able to run that on the i9003. So if Sense 4 turns out to be super awesome, you'll hate yourself for having given it up!!
Choose wisely.
Thanks guys, that was really one of my biggest points to keep DS. I like S's desing but well, as you all said their section is not as friendly as this one, and the cuantity and quality of the roms didn't convince me at all.
So I guess desire S is not loosing one user after all.
I have a i9003 SL in the house too, the forums there are quite a mess in comparison.
Close to 15 ROMS out and in progress but not a single one is better than stock rooted.
Stick with the DS.
I say desire S is better. i have one too, and i am in love with it:X i when i bought it i had to chose between it and SGS.. i chose Desire S and i do not regret!
so my opinion is Desire S!!

I have to agree with you... the DS is a more "phone-like" device, that you can hold to your ear without blacking out you face. I have never felt comfortable with Samsung bricks like the [email protected] and the Note!

Farewell One S Users !

Hey guys, Just letting you all know I will be ditching the One S tomorrow... I've got the Galaxy Note.
I know your thinking ''WTF?!?!?!'' But i had so many issues with the One S (signal related) it was driving me mad, I was offered the S3 (at a hefty price) or the Note, for free, So I took it.
When I first saw the Note I thought ''OMG Thats Hideous, Its waaaay too big'' But the more I saw it, the more I liked it !
My other contract is up soon so I will get the SGS3 then.
So thanks to every one who helped me since day one, I will be moving on to the Note forums as of tomorrow
I will still keep my Help Thread updated as much as possible, And will continue to help as and when I can.
Take care & good bye

haha thanks guys !!
Ill still be around, Just not as much, Gotta get my head around the Note forums, Its a mess and theres a lot of serious issues, Including simple HardBrick by just full wipe in CWM..
This thread probably wont stay open long, But watch this space Il forever help you guys ! its the least i can do
I'm also considering to leave if I can except I just can't agree to pay the same price for a Galaxy Nexus that have much lower specs everywhere except with the screen and software side... (It's my only choice on my carrier (screw the Razr will ya?))
You are really lucky to have other choices like a Note.
I can't believe that HTC didn't offer a fix for the low signal... Oh, and there still no way to use Skype which I will really need starting next week...

4.3 qHD screen vs 4.8 HD screen don't count as a change?
.3mp vs 2.0mp front camera isn't useful too?
NFC, No-NFC? TouchWiz, Sense? LTE, No-LTE...
The GSIII and the One XL have little to differenciate, but we are talking about the One S here.
There's a huge difference but its value depends on the user and options.

hey azzledazzle,
i really appreciated the way you where getting on top of the issue with the virtual button mess, really liked your input. i counted you in for one who's pushing the issue further with HTC.
So, i find it a bit hard that you "gave up" on it but totally understandable on the other side. My One S is literally doing my head in (wife threw it at me in anger) with that perfectly unusable state its in. It sits there, playing with its screen and buttons just like its gotten its own mind but i cant make it do anything else most of the time.
So if it was like that for you, i can only repeat myself: i do understand. Still i find it a bit sad.
my opinion on the note: am working on it for my brother and i find it disappointing. Samsungs surface is stupid, KIES is like having one leg amputated, cant really go anywhere with that code, the phone hides anyones head while at it (just for the lolz of it), its too big. seriously.
And as a tablet, its too small. But as i said, my opinion
Good luck on your new adventures mister Azzle!
Hey mate,
Have fun with the Note, its been my primary device for 7 months now. Its a great phone. After a while its size becomes normal.
As for the comments above, i find it a perfect size, its like having a tab on you at all times. My only gripe is touchwiz, i do prefer sense.
Peace!

I can't say as I blame you. I getting pretty sick of my One S. Brilliant phone except it has next door to useless signal reception. It spends 3 to 4 hours a day without signal - which irritates when I know signal is good. What to replace with I dunno but this issue is likely to sicken me off HTC. Won't be the Note though as far too big for me
Galaxy nexus
Same here. After two months I am getting rid of it for Galaxy nexus $349 from the play store. We have minimal support for this device. Thanks to cm9 devs anyways.
It make no good to have powerfull phone that cannot multitask or have no completed custom ROM. And now Jelly Bean. By the time ONE S gets JB Google will announce next nexus probably this fall with KEY LIME 5.0
Better have slightly outdated hardware that prrobably will not be much noticable and have up to date software, vanilla or custom ROM with no issues.
And HTC and their delayed kernel source release. SIII released it before device was on the market. That how you get developers love.
I really wanted to love this phone, but yesterday I had a chance to exchange it for a new one in the box to see if it fixed my signal/wifi issues or get the Galaxy S3. Every smartphone I have owned has been HTC so I was nervous, but I opted for the S3 and all I can say is wow. It's an awesome phone and completely blows the One S out of the water for my needs.
I knew going into the the One S I would be making concessions on things I wanted such as an SD card slot and removable battery. Its a super sexy phone, but if you can't use it as a phone it does me no good, too many dropped/missed calls and poor wifi. I hope they do fix the signal issues for those who keep it and I'm glad some people were experiencing no problems.
HTC really needs to up their game on the next round of phones, I gave them extensive feedback online and they even called to follow up, which was nice. I told them I have owned a G1, MT3GS, G2, MT4GS and One S and enjoyed them all with the exception of the OS. I did have a seperate issue with them concerning the MT4GS and replacement parts that irritated me as well.
Best of luck to you all and thank you for all the help and resources from this forum!

My bday gift

My wife just surprised me with a SGS3. I had my sensation for 6months but now it's time to say farewell to the Sensation forums. i would like to thank everyone for contributing because i learned alot. A very special thanks to all the devs, you guys made my phone experience a great one.
Just a quick note. I still prefer the HTC sensation styling and the overall aesthetics of sense UI and home keys. But we'll see once i root the SGS3.
Take care guys.
sent from the Nudy bar, one handed.
I played with the sg3 and thought it was super slick. The thinness of it was amazing.
And while the screen size was cool, its just too big to carry in my pocket as a phone. If Samsung made that same device with the screen the size of the sensation Id buy on tomorrow
Sent from my HTC Sensation using xda app-developers app
have fun with the S3! although I will suggest keeping the Sensation around for rooting pleasure or just as a PMP so as not to waste the battery on your S3
I do like its thinness! Enjoy!

Hope the OP enjoys the Galaxy S3! The only reason I personally won't switch is because of the pentile AMOLED screen. Over saturated colours and the unnatural cold white balance are still hampering its performance compared to the HTC Super LCD screens. Just one reason why in IMO the Sensation continues to be one of the best all around performing smartphones.
Wow... how lucky you are... Farewell and enjoy your new device
hi guys, poking my head back in here. So far the S3 is cool (got it rooted) and I have it setup very similar to my old Sensation. It was a bit frustrating using USB sync with my Mac but finally found a fix. I do not like the MTP/PTP feature Samsung using just to access the SD card on mac.
For me the S3 is hype just like any new product that comes out. My sensation was a great phone but we'll see how i adapt to the S3. Altho, seeing my benchmark numbers blowing the stock S3 numbers away is great.
The sgs3 makes the sensation feel like baby phone. I own both. The sgs3 is one hell of a phone!!!! You will be happy trust me!!!
