[Q] Rooting after latest OTA - Baseband I535VRLHE - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Rooting and unlocking my GS3 was in my mind for some time but never got around doing it.
I was planning to use this thread to unlock and root.
Not planning to have custom ROM right now, just remove bloatware and install permissions.
However, over the weekend VZW pushed in an OTA update and now my baseband shows I535VRLHE and the build is Imm76D.I535VRALHE.
The rooting guide does not list this build/BB combo (I guess since its just a few days old).
Has anyone rooted after this OTA?
Will it work just the same as mentioned in the guide (don't want to brick my phone trying to root).
TIA

Yes, it will work fine.

Worked!
Thanks HHF2.
I went ahead and successfully unlocked and rooted my phone.

yes to all

do you have all the files in the folder o you downloaded to do the rooting? there should be a total of 8 files in the dir you are running rootdebugfs from.
whats happening is those files its trying to stat arent being copied over to the phone. make sure you dont have the dir with the files in a path you dont have permissions on. also if ur running any kind of system security like malwarebytes disable it.

[Q] How to root TB on version 1.13.605.7?

Sorry if this is in the wrong section but I updated my phone to the latest OTA fw that was just released by VZ, Software version says 1.13.605.7 and kernel is 2.6.32.21-gb05544a [email protected] #1 (whatever that is)
Andriod version is at 2.2.1 and I would love to be able to root my phone and install one of the gingerbread ROMs but have not seen any ways to do this...... please advise. Thanks!
Search here or Google it. Instructions everywhere. One piece of advice: stay away from the "one click" method. The best way isn't as easy if you are new, but read up and you'll learn.

Yea I've been searching and all I've found is for the previous software version, not the new OTA version....
I used to have a droid inc and it was super easy to root... without the need for ADB. It just seems like a PITA to setup ADB and risk bricking the phone... and I'm on win7 x64 to further complicate things. I'm not new to this but I just want to find a simple way to load a different ROM on my phone to get rid of the bloatware and to help save battery life.
Using adb is actually quite easy. And the whole process is less than an hour. I know its usually Google but this time youtube is your friend. Just look up how to set up adb and then you are just some copy and pastes away from a rooted thunderbolt.
As far as trying to root the new version, just backup and downgrade since the process wipes data anyway.

I'm on x64 win7 too. Just download HTC sync, install the drivers with it and quit the install before you install the app (drivers install first, then you are prompted to install sync). No easy button with this phone IMO, but if you take the time, its worth it. No risk on bricking it if you've done it before. Just cut and paste the commands and go slow. No unrevoked for this baby yet.

If you follow the thread and do it line by line plainjane will be installed which is rooted debate stock on mr2. From there you can flash any gb rom

Well the phone never showed up in the device list in the GUI - it would only show up in the command line... I had to install the correct USB driver and rebooted several times... And be sure the phone is in charge only mode instead of disk drive mode... and make sure there are no devices that dont have the drivers installed in device manager.. After all that, i was able to follow the step by step guide linked above. Which took a while and there are many steps so be careful! when you do the "dd" command thats where you can really brick your phone. Good luck!
What problem are you having exactly?
before you did the OTA where you already rooted?
did you end up getting it rooted?

I'm running gingerth3ory 4.5.1 now and it works great....

Root Problem SuperOneClick

Hello,
I've got a Skyrocket i727 and am stuck on the psneuter part when trying to root. I'm sorry for posting here since I'm sure the answers lie somewhere, but I've been researching since yesterday and haven't found it. I'm on a satellite internet connection that is pretttty slow.
Anyways, so I have the drivers installed, and then run SuperOneClick as Admin on windows 7. I click root and it runs until psneuter then appears to be stuck. It freezes there. When I close the black command screen that has opened it suggests I turn off debugging mode. When I try to close debugging mode it just stays at Waiting for Device...
So, what am I missing?
Thanks so much in advance.
SuperOneClick didn't work on mine because it had updated to 2.3.6 from 2.3.5...Which one do you have?

So, I've done some reading about CWM and am still not quite sure what it is. Does it replace my current setup? Do I lose my stuff?
Edit: for anyone else following this topic I found this info about cwm:

Is it possible to do this without having an external sd card?
Must have external SD. CWM is an aftermarket recovery that replaces your stock recovery. It allows you to flash roms, make nandroid backups restore nandroid backups ect.....

I had this issue over the weekend. Go out to samsungs site and find the kids drivers. In the superclick in the "exploit" switch to zergrush, click root. It should say do you want to install drivers, click yes and it shouldn't take more then 10 minutes.

Easy root method Galaxy s3(Windows Only)

If this is already posted somewhere sorry!
I found a CMD based program to root the galaxy s3. Very simple to use , its kinda like a 1 click.
Before starting make sure you have unknown sources and USB debugging enabled.
1. Unzip root folder
2.Connect your phone to a USB port ( if possible use back ones, and not USB3)
3. Run program
4.Enjoy root without flash.

There is already a version like that out there found Here.

Once you have gained root access, just go to the Play store and download VZW EZ-Unlock App and it will unlock your bootloader. Very easy to do.You can also grab is EZ-Recovery as well to flash your recovery once you have gained root access.
This requires professionals to answer.

Sorry but what is the risk if I use this program for S2 HD LTE from docomo Japan running ICS?
Is this the same as Noxious Ninja's root method that doeboy711 linked to in the second post? I've used that method to root (and easily unroot) a few times on this phone, so not sure what this is meant to offer which is any different (besides lack of support for the method, potentially).

[Q] I can't root [One click .bat]

First of all: Sorry for my poor english. I'm from Argentina.
I was trying to root my phone with the one click .bat, but i can't.
I have the latest drivers. The ones that i used when i root this phone for the first time.
I tried to root it several times, but, i made a screenshoot at 3 of it to show what displays the cmd.
I have the debuggin activated, and i'm using the original cable.
I made a factory reset and see if helps, but it doesn't.
I don't know what to do. I'm desperate.
What build are you on 2.3.5 2.3.6 or ICS????
You see if you are on GB(2.3.5 or 2.3.6) oneclickroot.bat would work(assuming you were using this) but in case of ICS you should use Jim's ROOT.bat file..
Sent from my MB865 using xda premium
Err, i'm on ICS Leak. And i'm using the Jim's root method. The folder name is 'A2_ICS_root' right?
Btw, in another time, i rooted my phone with this. But now i can't.
I had the same error message. It was solved by uninstalling droidexplorer from my PC.
Try updating the adb...

[Q] Rooted S3: How Do I get Verizon Update??

I generally don't root my phones but I needed to increase the size of my SD cache so I rooted it.
I have read the threads on what to do if you have rooted and installed a new rom but I only did a portion of this process.
To root the phone, I followed the guide on this forum and completed the following:
Enabled USB Debugging and Unknown Sources (Phone)
Double-clicked "RootDebugfs" on PC with phone connected to computer using OEM USB cable. It ran to completion.
Installed - ez_unlock.apk and rom_manager.apk
At this point SuperUser was supposed to install but it didn't. I downloaded and installed Superuser, updated the Superuser binaries, and I was rooted. I confirmed this with Root Checker.
I never unlocked the phone with Ez-Unlocker
I never used Rom-Manager either.
I did install SD Speed Increase and increased the SD cache size from 128kb to 1024 kb.
Now there is a Verizon update that I should probably get. In the near future I will need to update to Jelly Bean.
What do I need to do to install these Verizon updates?
If you're rooted, stock recovery and not unlocked you can take any OTA but it will break root. But as far as I've seen you can root again.
If you're unlocked with custom recovery you need to flash back to full locked stock and stock recovery to accept OTA.

As long as u have stock recovery then just take the ota and re root. If u don't have stock recovery the gym flash it with ez recovery app. That's how I updated my phone this morning

You could also just wait until someone creates a flashable zip and flash through CWM or TWRP.
Thank you for the replies.
I did not change anything regarding recovery. I only did whats indicated in my initial post.
If I do the OTA update will I just root again using the same process I did initially?
If so, is that just "double-click "RootDebugfs" on PC with phone connected to computer using OEM USB cable and run it to completion."?
I appreciate the support provided and appreciate all responses.

Just be aware that it's not unheard of for the root exploit to get blocked in the new OTA. It doesn't sound like that has happened here, but just FYI. That's part of why the common mantra is to just wait for someone to post a rooted version of the stock rom... or go with a custom rom (shout out to CleanRom here).

Thanks a lot for the information. I'm sure I can handle that. I'm considering not doing the update and then either waiting for the Verizon update to Jelly Bean or find a Jelly Bean ROM and take that route.
Thanks again.
