[Q] BlueStacks Install/Uninstall Help - General Questions and Answers

Today I installed the latest version of BlueStacks. Problem is when I uninstalled it, it didn't completely uninstall itself. Now I can't install any version of BlueStacks. I either get the message that BlueStacks is already installed or that a dock is interfering. I have deleted every trace of BlueStacks that I could find(including registry) and there is no trace of a dock.
Thanks for any help.

Since this is a PC related issue it doesn't belong in Android Q&A.
Moved to Off-topic.

Are you sure this is the latest version that you are trying?
There is no requirement or dependency on any dock for bluestacks installation in the current release. Could you please try again downloading the latest version from www [dot] bluestacks [dot] com and try again.

I figured it out!
Go to "C:\Windows\Installer" and change the view to detailed and then sort by author. Then right click on the msi file authored by BlueStacks and click uninstall. It should work like it should through programs and features.

I had the same problem, but be sure to have uninstalled notifications by bluestacks too.. because if you haven't you can't install a new one

Best Way!
Press Windows + R And Enter Regedit And DELETE The Following Files :
[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\BlueStacks]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\BlueStacks\]

yes thats my favorite way also delete the data from programfiles , programfiles(x86) ,programdata

I know this thread has been dead for awhile, but I am having the same issue. I made the mistake of accidentally deleting the uninstaller while trying to clear up space on my surface pro. So I decided I would just manually uninstall it by deleting all the program data and deleting any registry data. I've done all that but it still shows up in my programs and features, but of course I can't uninstall it from there, it gives an error because the uninstaller isn't there.
I redownloaded Bluestacks and tried to reinstall it, but it says it can't because it defects bluestacks has already been installed.

I agree, although this would be more convenient if you have an apk file that isnt on the Market.
Or in some builds that don't have the market at all on the phones.

How do we distinguish the name of an apk already installed???? In your program, they are listed with numbers.

Thanks for the better link zshare can suck it. I'm not going to unblock their stupid ads.
AmaZING!!!
U guys are genius. Thanks for the app. this is perfection at its finest.
All i ask is that u can make a easy way to get into the android registry without using adb Shell. If this program could some how get into the android registry. Id really luv that.
so finally everyone who dosent know how to use the adb shell can still get into the file system and do the process to get apps to INSTALL & RUN FROM THE SD CARD.
i already have my sd card partioned and waiting. thats guys.
Amazing apps. i appreaciate the hard work.

*blink* this isn't WM. There is no registry. The closest thing might be some of the system databases.

He meant the link to download the file.
I uploaded it in my post
I'm not exactly sure running executables from unknown new users is a good idea... especially given that everything the program does can be easily done (probably even easier) in the console with adb install.

recently rooted phone - unable to update ADW launcher

Hey guys, im new here so be nice
i rooted my phone 2 days ago - all went really smoothly thanks to the guys on this forum. i have ADW 0.7.6 installed as part of the rooting process, but would like to update.
i downloaded the apk from the market - getting an error that the installer is not signed. i have since read that this version is for newer versions of android, so i trawled through the threads and found some older versions of the launcher.
when trying to install these i am told they cannot be installed on this phione.
another thread suggested uninstalling my current ADW and installing the newer one but as its the only launcher i have installed this is a little difficult.
i tried to install a different launcher and got a similar message.
please help?!
Not sure... Try to scan the QR code on this website

Thanks for the quick reply! nah, that just redirects to the market and that is the one that is not signed for me. i just installed advanced launcher and switched to it before attempting again....still no joy.
lol nevermind. i switched to advanced launcher. uninstalled the ADW 0.7.6 and then installed 1.0.0 and its all good. hopefully this might help someone else one day.
I faced the same problem, but found a solution.

In this thread, go to the signature of the first poster (My_Immortal) and click on "Rachael modified UI ADW Launcher 1.0.1 (password: iridaki)"
Send the apk to your phone or otherwise, and install it. Hope that's what you were looking for.

This error has noting to do with rooting or not only unique to ADW.
at the time of update in any application package when you have modified version, (rather than stock version) you will get an errors like installer is not signed.
Solution.
Option 1
Remove the modified and install latest stock version as clean install
OR Option 2
Get the modified versions latest and update without any errors.
Hope this explains the logic behind this.

[ROOT][4.0+] AppDowngrader | downgrade your apps easily

Since I realized you *can* downgrade your apps (install lower version over actual (higher) version of app) using android feature "pm install -r -d file.apk" yesterday, I got time and wrote small and simple app which does everything for you. Just pick APK and click on Install APK. That's it!

Amazing job!!
I am gonna try to run Themer on ICS now. I hope that it should work now.
EDIT: I tried it on my Magicon Mpad 7, It said Install successful but I can't find it on my App Drawer?
did you read OP? Looks like you didn't. Yes, app shown "successfully installated" because if you use this app how you should, it works. And I don't except that users will do crazy experiments
With or without this app you can't install app which requires 4.1 on device with 4.0.
Thanks I'll test it....Good idea

GREAT IDEA!!
Didn't work with the Google keyboard for me though
So here is a thought, is there a repository for older versions of the free android apps anywhere? That would be a good coupling for an app like this!
Is Google play suggesting to upgrade your downgraded app or it doesn't realize that app was downgraded?

Google Play will suggest upgrading. You essentially just installed an older version of the app in all terms.
You could achieve similar function by backing up your data, deleting the app, re-installing an older version, restoring your data. Obviously it would be longer, though.
Thanks! Very useful to see a easy way to downgrade apps like Minecraft PE and whatever, like Twitter. Very very very grateful.

Seams somebody made a paid app out of your free app.

Hey guys,
as some of you might know, deleting system apps can be a nightmare. I developed an application that simplify this process. All you have to do is select the apps you want to remove and the app will automatically delete everything (no TWRP, no reboot).
The app is free, OPEN SOURCE and without ads; it requires root and it is compatible with Android Oreo down to Gingerbread.
Your list of deleted apps can be exported and shared with your friends.
The idea behind this project is to create a community where people share their lists of apps selected. I've created a bunch of lists HERE for the most popular phones.
Feel free to UPLOAD your list, any help is always appreciated. You can download the app from the GOOGLE PLAY.
Don't forget to hit the thanks button, thanks! <3

Finally!!
This App works perfectly.
Thanks for your effort
It works like a charme! Tnx!

Thabks for your work man! I am on pie with my p20 pro, but for the life of me cant get your app to have root rights. There is no root provilege popup coming. Also cant add it in magisk :/
Any ideas what i do wrong?
Thanks
I've removed all verizon apps preinstalled on my Moto Z force at last!! Thanks a lot! will share it app with my friends
Does it permanently delete them? Anyway to backup the APK's just in case?
LG G6 @ Stock Android 8.0.0 with Magisk, not working. I have BusyBox installed but after reboot apps are still installed. I can help by sharing info if it will help to make this app better and succesfully uninstall unwanted apps.
Excuse me... a question... how the attached file is used, for example: "Samsung_Galaxy_S7.uninsSystemApp"
What's the way to work with this file? I hope a simple text list with the name of the unistallable apps.... Thank you!
Finally I found the app that lets me remove all this pre-installed useless apps! Will download it right now!
Great job!
If somebody prefers to uninstall the apps one by one, there's a list anywhere? Thanks
Finally an app that ****ing works. Thanks, OP.

You can first identify the running apps in background and look after them if you find any suspicious app so that you can uninstall that particular app
Secondly, You can go to your security settings<device administrators and prevent acces to apps which you feel may be responsible for the ads
Also clear all credentials in security settings
It these don't work then the last option left is to factory reset but do try these options first
Hope my information was helpful:fingers-crossed:
