Hello. I'm looking for some help. I've searched google and forums with no luck.
My 16gb S3, rooted-stock, keeps turning the screen on momentarily while locked (idle). Keeps happening every few minutes.
It certainly doesn't help my battery life.
My old Bionic used to do the same thing, and it was suggested that Beautiful Widgets was making it do it.
I have Beautiful Widgets now, but it wasn't doing it before. I feel like it begun after I installed Nova to try it out. I was using Go Launcher before that with no problems, although I haven't uninstalled it.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I've noticed this and its really annoying..... if I have a chat going in google talk, and lock the screen and when I get a new message, it won't allow me to type anything anywhere just after the screen is unlocked... After waiting about 30 seconds or so everything is fine. This happens with just about any app... Any ideas? This is on android 2.2.1 Thanks
Anyone have any ideas? This is really frustrating...
Ive had this happem, but only after i used a task killer to see how much RAM i could free up. Then i uninstalled task killer and rebooted and hasnt happened since

Do you have your phone plugged in? I had some unresponsive screen issues with my Inc that was caused by a cheap charger.

This is also happening with mine...
I was going to start a new thread, but decided to see if anyone has this issue. Mine does the same thing. It will not respond at all ... market, net, text.. nada. I thought maybe it was ADW Launcher ... so i disabled it among other things, and now it only does it ever so often, but still enough in a day to be counter intuitive to being a "smart" phone. Any ideas or help with this would be good =D I also tried to uninstall the task killer and manager. This had no effect. Thanks!
Theres an update to ATK and have it set to every 15 minutes instead of when the screen is off... and set it to aggressive instead of crazy.... I dont have this issue anymore!
I am rooted using Beanstock R2 and using nova launcher. phone has been lightning fast, but noticed yesterday that there is a noticable lag between screens and opening/closing lock screen. already changed the animation speed in developer settings, I have rebooted, looked through settings and cant seem to find a resolution. Lag is really starting to irritate me!!!!
should I start by uninstalling nova and seeing if that helps first? run a backup on CWM first?
I remember fiddling through the settings on the phone when I first got it. Then suddenly things started to slow down immensely. Later, I found out that "Power Saving" was the cause for it. The Power Saving setting can be found in the system settings on your GS3. It really holds back the CPU to conserve battery. Turning it off may help increase performance on your phone.
Hope that helps..
HOLY SH!T that was it!!!!! thank you!!! didn't even realize that was checked. much appreciated
You're welcome! Enjoy the SGS3 at it's full power!
Hello everybody,
I have this problem that's more than annoying and that I really couldn't find a solution to. I've tried finding someone with the same issues but couldn't. The problem is, when someone is calling me, my phone rings, but the screen doesn't turn on, only the capacitive buttons do. I didn't have this problem before, but after installing some stuff it appeared. I don't really know what caused it and how to fix it. I have XPERIA Z FIRE SERIES 5 rom for Tipo, Nova launcher and running Crystal 2 theme. Could any of those possibly cause the problem? I can't see the number thats calling me and it's hard to answer the call since I can't see the buttons either. Aside of that, I have one other problem. My phone ram is allways on ~400 without any app turned on. I have a few apps for apps killing and clearing ram and I do that often but still it doesn't help since after cleaning it's back to like 95% in a matter of an hour. And even when I kill all the active processes and apps, my ram is still on like 65% usage. I don't know whats using it up, I can't run anything on the phone, I've deleted all the games since they lagged like hell, even the most simple ones that should run smoothly. Hell it laggs even when I have to unlock it, enter menu, call someone, do anything...
Well, thanks in advance for any advice that you have to offer.

It seems to me that your rom isn't bugfree... Flash a stock fimrware, and everythig should be pico bello . The RAM usage is strange, but the call issue isn't very rare, many people report this. Flashing a stock firmware will most likely fix this!
Have a nice day!
I noticed that when my phone drops down to critical i.e. 10% battery, the widgets on my home screens stop updating. Perhaps this is by design in an effort to save battery, but my problem is that even after I fully charge my phone the widgets remain frozen. I'm not running any special widgets, just a basic clock, calendar, a few toggles and battery monitor, but they all freeze just the same . . . I end up having to reboot my phone in order to get the widgets working again, which can be a pain and seems completely unnecessary.
Does anybody else have this kind of trouble? Could my completely stock/non-rooted device be experiencing issues? This is the only problem I've noticed so far with my S5 - everything else works exactly as it should.
Just a quick update: I did a factory reset and that didn't make any difference - two days later and all my home screen widgets freeze and don't start updating until I reboot the phone. List of widgets I'm using:
Fancy Widget
Switch Pro
Android Pro Widgets
BattStatt Pro
These are all widgets I've used for years without any issue, which makes me think that it involves KitKat.
Any suggestions?
I use fancy widget but haven't experienced any problems with it. Have u checked the refresh rate setting? When I put it on this phone and set it back up the refresh rate was set to refresh like every 6 hours

Thanks for the reply - no that is not it, because it affects all of my widgets and not just fancy widgets. Something odd I've noticed is that even after fancy widgets and the rest all freeze, the stock 'weather' widget still works! I've been reading a lot trying to get to the bottom of this issue, and someone on another forum mentioned the following:
"this issue occurs because kitkat has changed the way it manages background alarms. most widgets that update frequently use "alarmmanager" to trigger each update. but in kitkat, the trigger event is intentionally delayed so that android can group processes together, saving battery life and data use. so, for all those clock and weather widgets, the developers have to write a bunch of new code for kitkat devices, so that their widgets update at the intended time."
After reading this, I decided to test a theory and set my alarm to go off 2 minutes later. The alarm went off, and sure enough I checked 5 minutes later and all widgets were frozen . . . So now I'm wondering if it has something to do with the 'Timely alarm clock' app that I'm using... Going to go back to stock Alarm clock and see if that makes a difference.
Just an update for anyone interested: I found other XDA users on Verizon that were having this same issue, and someone suggested that we try installing Nova launcher. Sure enough, after installing Nova two weeks ago and I haven't had one issue with my homescreen widgets freezing.
I highly recommend Nova, especially if you're experiencing some odd quirks with TW.

Hello everyone,
I have my Nexus 5 since january. It`s been a really great experience.
I love to customize my N5. I am always changing icons, wallpapers and lockscreen looks.
For that, I keep looking for new apps in foruns like this, or Mycolorscreen, or Deviantart and etc.
One of this days, I found these lockscreen apps:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lockscreen.galaxy
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lockscreen.optimus
and
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lockscreen.sony
All of them are from the same developer. They are really beautiful, well designed and I was very happy with the look and experience that those apps gave me.
But soon I notice something strange when I first boot my phone in the morning: the N5 kept the home screen lit... It did not matter how many times I pushed the main button, trying to turn the scrren off and get the lockscreen working. I also noticed that the apps that usually open in the first boot were not getting started. Their notifications were not showing up. The screen kept ligthen up in my homescreen...
I was suspecting that these apps that were working properly before the installation of the three lockscreen apps above, were "fighting" with the new apps (the lockscreen apps). As the lcokscreen apps are from the same developer, I figured that they were the problem. So I unsitalled them. The apps that have always been working fine before the lockscreen apps have been installed are:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rageconsulting.android.lightflow
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.rgruet.android.g3watchdog
and
http://www.amazon.com.br/MacroPinch-Bateria-Pro/dp/B0085YOD1A/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1399848399&sr=8-3&keywords=bateria
I have been using the stock lockscreen since then...
Today (May 11th), I found the following lockscreen app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.qiigame.flocker.global
and decided to give it a try. And I loved it. It is a very beautiful lockscreen.
But after trying it for some time, learning how to use it... I reeboted my N5...
Unfortunally, the issue I (tried to) describe above happened again. After reeboting, the screen got lightened all the time. I push the main button and the scrren did not turn off. 3G watchdog, Battery and Lighfolw don`t show the notifications of starting up.
So, I am back in Nexus 5 sotck lockscreen!
I would love to use these lockscreen apps. But I don`t know what is going on. Can someone pelas help me???
I am sorry if this thread is confused. It is not easy to try to explain it in english. lol
I think this is just a case of buggy apps. I read through reviews for these apps from nexus 5 users, others are experiencing the same problems. The author of the last lock screen app you are using said to try going into the apps setting and choose "home button settings" and follow the three steps there, whatever those are, to solve your problem.
