D30 Flex Protective Case - Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G

I've had it since I got my phone, couldn't be more happy with it. I've dropped it countless times and it's kept my phone nice and protected.
Then there was the incident a few weeks ago that resulted in my phone getting run over a few times. Aside from some..semi-acceptable cracks in the screen, it's held up wonderfully.
I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a sturdy, inexpensive case.
10/10, would drop it in the street again

I currently have this case and was considering writing up a review of it but you've pretty much nailed the important parts. This case feels like part of the phone, it doesn't have any ridiculous branding anywhere on it (as it should be), and most importantly, it does an excellent job protecting the phone.

No Case? Included Sleeve? Or 3rd Party Case?

Besides my own (which I keep in an Otterbox Commuter), I've seen 3 people out in the wild with N1s. 1 used it commando, the other 2 used just the included sleeves.
I'd have thought there'd be more protection out there for our beloved N1s.
I've been using the innocase surface since day one and I just recently moved up to the rugged. It's kinda fugly but i'm confident that this thing could stand up to a tank now!
I value the feel of the Nexus One itself. I used to have a big old case for it but I just use the sleeve now. I think people take for granted how useful, protective, convenient, and less bothersome the sleeve really is.
I found the Otterbox case to be too bulky. I found a clear plastic case at T mobile that snaps on the back and almost makes it look like it's commando but still protects.
The sleeve works but is a hassle to use and keep track of. I used it for about 2 months. You wont know how much trouble it is until you try a phone case.
Next I got a hard rubber case (<$5)... it did not offer much drop-protection and the rubber cracked and chipped off in a month.
Next I got a no-label black gel case (<$5) and its the best I've used so far. Excellent drop-protection. Good grip too compared to the above two.

I've had plenty of all sorts of cases. Another main reason I like the sleeve is that it keeps dirt, lint, dust and any other kind of small particle that may be in your pocket or on your desk that can (and does, somehow) get caught in between the case and the phone. I also use a stealth guard clear wrap on it.

Those offer only scratch protection, the screen protector is useful though. $2.85 shipping
I use a gelish case from Boxwave. I like it because it fits well, isn't too big, and will still slide in/out of a pocket unlike the silicone ones. I'm not using a screen protector because I'm afraid it would make the phone difficult to use. So it's always in my pocket alone facing my leg. Not a single scratch on the screen in six months.
the included neoprene case with the awesome Android logo on it is highly under rated... i'm so glad I stuck with it instead of purchasing a gel case or any other - those cases offer nothing in terms of protecting the nexus one from water damage.
case in point, out at a gig the other night - some bozo who was part of a group i went out with spilled half his beer (at leasy 175ml of liquid) directly all over my nexus one. if it wasn't for the neoprene case, it would have been dead for sure! take the phone out of the case, dry as the desert - the neoprene case was soaked (i squeezed out at least 100ml in beer back into the bozos bottle)
it's also pretty good protection against drops - i've dropped my nexus from a height of over a metre at least three times with no adverse damage
neoprene stock case ftw!

Thats a sleeve, not a case.
It does offer a lot of protection but at the cost of unnecessary extra work. You cant see the LEDs, makes it hard to hear the phone's notification/ringer.
Using a Commuter Otterbox. First sexy case I've seen so far for the Nexus. Had it shipped all the way from the US. I live in Malaysia btw. Lol. Must say, worth every cent. Cuz I dropped my phone once and there's a few scratches. Bleh. Sadness much. The case brings back lots of joy. Lol.

Do You Use a Case?

I was wondering... I had my phone without a case for the first month and it still looked perfectly new by the time my case came in. Does anyone else have a case on their phone?
If so, what case do you use? I know there's already a cases thread, but this is different. Thanks!
i use a dhd otterbox defender.its awesome cause i work construction and its saved my phone a few times
I do use a case, but I dont like big bulky cases nor do i like wearing a clip on my belt.
I got one of those cheapy TPU cases on ebay. Gives enough protection from minor bumps and scratches, but I doubt it provides any shock protection like the otterboxs or casemate models.
i use the bodyglove mirage tpu case. i like it, not too bulky. only problem is i noticed that it effects my GPS signal. dosnt stop it completely. but in my house, with the case ON, i cant get a lock better than about 35 feet. with the case OFF, it will drop down to 16 feet. while it dosnt make GPS unusable, it def makes it less accurate. driving, i noticed with the case on, maps will say accurate to 10 meters, if i take the case off, it immediatley drops to 3 meters. meh, i dont honestly use GPS that much, so i figure if i need to i will just take the case off.
I use a case for the peace of mind of not worrying about scratches. Phone is already big enough, so the thinnest possible case is sufficient for me. I use the Case-Mate Barely There in black matte.
Case Mate Tough for me. The one for the Inspire, of course. It's a solid case with a good look to it. Might take a look at it. But no screen protector yet. They are always sold out.

barely there case from case-mate I hate big bulky cases
I use the Platinum Hard Case/Holder. They look and work like the Seidio. Worked well when I had the Captivate.
Just wanted to chime in to say that the metal that the Inspire is made out of seems to be very scratch resistant. I leaned up against a metal cooler's edge at work (The very corner) and my phone was in a belt clip holster. I leaned with about half my body weight before i realized it was right on my phone, and when i backed away i saw a long white mark on the back of my phone and i thought the worst. I rubbed it a little bit with my thumb and it went away immediately, im not quite sure how or why but there was no mark at all!
This is the nicest phone I've owned... Having it wrapped in a DHD Otterbox Defender is great for peace of mind.
Great slim case...

I use the speck case not big not bulky no clip its a hard case and fits like glove.

using a case similar to the barely-there model, purchased from ebay. so far it's holding up well.
I had a case and returned it. Too bulky. Now I have a full body skin on it. Will it protect the phone from a drop? Probably not. Best not to drop it
Odds are I'll sell this phone in a year or two when the next latest and greatest is available.
Thanks everyone for the replies! I just wanna say... I took my phone out of its case for a day (CaseMate Barely There), and my friend drops it while playing a game. There's now a scratch on it (it fell on the floor of a workshop).
Also, regarding a comment I saw about what the phone is made out of; you mentioned that there was a white line on it that made you think it was scratched. Boy, that's happened to me so many times! I always get scared, but I'm surprised at how tough the phone is. But this time the mark is permanent, so don't always depend on the toughness of the phone... I'm putting the case back on right now. Never taking it off again
Again, thanks for the replies. I'm with most of you in saying that the phone is already big enough as it is; that's why I got the Barely There, because I didn't want anything making the phone too much bigger.
Pt Series Case
I work at BB and picked up my Inspire 4G yesterday, so far I've used it in the Pt Series Case from BB. I got it really cheap and it isn't half bad. I will be keeping a case on my Inspire because I ran my Nexus One out of a case for upwards of 6 months, and I dropped while it was in the slip skin and it nicked the top of it. My dad has my N1 now, and is using a Case-Mate tough case. I plan on picking up the DHD version to try out for my Inspire next paycheck!
Oh and the little belt clip is a nice feature!
I've long gotten over the worries of scratching my cases. I can see the use of an otterbox for those who worry about drops, but it's like sweating the first scratch you get on a new car. It's gonna happen. I don't really care about resale of my phone, I usually just pass it down for cheap to a friend in need (who hasn't upgraded in like 2 years) and they are more than happy to accept it as is. I can't imagine the folks with OCD bad enough to pamper their phone so much it never gets any wear. There's no enjoyment in technology that way!
I personally go for a screen protector film and a thin/light back side case that allows for the best access to top/side buttons.
Same here barely there from CM

I used to have an InvisibleShield for my Samsung Captivate, but I didn't like it for many reasons.
One of the reasons was that I'm big into photography. Whatever Zagg used to make the screen protector stick greatly deteriorates the quality of the screen, and it bothered me.
Also, it makes the screen a lot more rubberized than most screen protectors. A lot of people say that the texture bothers them, but I think that's bullcrap... I can see the textured difference, but can't feel it and don't really care. On the other hand, the fact that my screen feels like sticky rubber bothers me.
Anyway, I try to steer clear of Zagg stuff now. I will recommend it though, if that makes sense. It's 100% quality stuff, and does stand up to its claims in protection. But I have my own personal reasons for not wanting to use it myself.

Anyone seen this case?

Doesnt look too bad for the price. Kinda reminds me of the Commuter.

Yes, it is either the Otterbox or a knock-off of it. I have the Otterbox Inspire 4G w/clip and I love it. I did my homework on cases for this phone and was impressed by all the rave reviews for the Otterbox. When it arrived I was in for a shock. But after the first day of getting used to it I was definitely impressed. Yes it is a little bulky and increases the total weight of the phone. But it is extremely effective at protecting your investment from drops, dings, scratches, etc... and very comfortable in your hand. Instead of a protective screen that needs to be peeled off and applied it comes with a front and back shell that the phone rests inside of and they snap together around the phone. Then the rubber covering fits like a glove around the shell. At first glance I thought there was no way this firm plastic face plate would be contact sensitive enough, as far as pinch & press or typing text, but it never fails to be responsive to the slightest touch. Amazing concept. I've had it for 7 weeks now and my phone looks as new as the day I bought it. I’ve used wireless Bluetooth for years (Sony Ericsson HBH-DS980) to talk on the phone all the time, or listen to music throughout the day. I almost never have the phone up to my ear, so the weight or bulk of a phone has never been an issue for me. You can get it with or without the belt clip attachment. I’ve been in the habit for years of wearing my phone hanging off of my pants pocket or my belt. So I opted for the clip version. The phone snaps into the clip securely either face-inward or face-out. It has never fallen out of the clip. I wear mine face-in to prevent scratches in case I bump up against my desk or something. Rarely do I ever need to strip the phone naked, even when I am at home. I paid $33 for mine, but could have gotten it for less had I more time to comparison shop before the phone was to arrive. But if the item you are looking at doesn't say Otterbox I can't say what you might get. Hope this helps, and good luck with whatever you decide to use.

Life without the otterbox

So originally when I bought the phone I purchased an Otter box case for my phone. Thought it would be a great idea to protect my purchase. It has done its courses of drops I have sustained and it protected it very well.
I recently switched over to Skinomi ( a clear protective skin). This has been great so far. My belief is that the otterbox trapped a lot of heat inside under long uses, which caused the phone to malfunction such as the many battery pulls and restarting I had to due. With the clear skin protector my phone stays cooler and I havent had to do a battery pull yet. So far it has been running better I guess because its not subject to the trapped heat now.
Thats just my experience and thought I would share. Also the Otterbox made the phone feel so bulky and huge, with the clear protection it gives me the natural feel of the phone in which I have been missing.
heres what i bought: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110692887641&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
I have an Otterbox as well. However, I only put it on my phone when I am going out of my house, because thats where drops and falls are more likely to happen in my experience.

Pure Edition "Naked Phone Challenge" 2017

When I started using this device, I held it in a Cimo Grip TPU casing basically from day one, and while it doesn't look that great, it does add some badly needed grip on the edges. The other day, I had to remove the sim card, which required taking the TPU casing off, and while doing so, I realized that the Pure Edition looks a lot better without it. From here, I got to thinking - is this casing really necessary?
To answer that question, I set out on a seven day journey of daily life to find out by using the Moto X Pure Edition with no casing at all whatsoever. What I found is that it actually is somewhat functional without the TPU, (at least more so than other phones) but with some caveats. For propping/leaning the device up against plates and dishes for consuming multimedia in the kitchen, the rubber backing material actually offers just enough grip for this to work, as long as the angle is far enough back (too step up-and-down, and it'll slide down a bit). Beyond that, it also works pretty well for operating the device in one hand while sitting, standing, or walking around. In fact, the only situations that left me wishing for the TPU were when the device needed to be propped up at a steeper angle or when I was holding it by only the slick metal edges to take pictures or watch videos laying down. Also, the buttons are far too easy to activate accidentally.
So, after this strange experiment, will I go back to using the TPU? Probably. But maybe not all the time. The Pure Edition is actually more grippable than I originally gave it credit for. Also, I don't have to contend with the massive lip on the left and right edges of the screen that make it difficult to make selections there. I'm not sure how casings affect heat dissipation or wireless reception, but that could potentially be another reason to scale back on those types of accessories. I have considered switching to one of those "bumper" frame-only casings, (such as the Case-Mate Tough Frame) which solves the grip problem on the perimeter of the device while still leaving the back exposed, but I can't seem to be able to find one of those to purchase anywhere. Does anybody have any thoughts on those or know where to find one?
With that, what does everyone else think? Do you use your Pure Edition "naked" or do you use some kind of casing or bumper? If you do use casing, would you consider trying the 7-day Naked Phone Challenge?

I just wanna warn that you should be extra careful with a naked MXPE
it has a very beautiful design and the material is fantastic, no doubt in that. but when i got my mxpe last year, i was using it without any protection, not even the provided bumper (as i always prefer my phones)
one week later i was sitting on the ground with my phone in my pocket, as i stood up, it dropped down from a height of no more than 20cm, and the screen shattered as it fell down on its metal side
since then ive been using bumpers with mxpe, it's a delicate phone
I like my moto x the way I like my women. NAKED!!
I used the original bumper until it broke and I've been naked ever since.
good luck when your glass gets broken
While I like the phone and how it handles naked, I just don't trust it taking a fall off any height without a case. I still have the original bumper case but have never used it because it is seemingly made with brittle plastic. Of course I opted for the plain silicone backing so I really don't have any special back to show off. I'm more interested in OS function over cosmetic visibility so while the phone feels nice naked, I prefer not to have to replace the screen due to an accident.
Naked Phone Challenge 2017 Conclusion
Thanks for the thoughts everybody. After my week-long excursion of using the Pure Edition without "protection ," I went back to the Cimo TPU, but also kept my eyes open for alternatives. I was really hoping to find a "bumper" style TPU, like the Case-Mate Tough Frame, but was unable to locate one anywhere. This transparent TPU found on eBay seems to be the next best thing. It's much thinner than the Cimo and also doesn't have such a massive lip up on the edges of the screen, which makes it great for use without a screen protector. My only complaints are that the camera hole isn't perfectly lined up vertically and that it's really easy to see any dust that gets trapped.
Still, it provides the grip I need along with a pleasing aesthetic without making the phone any bigger than it needs to be, so I think this might just be a good compromise. Time will tell if it stays clear or becomes yellow.
For about a year, I kept my Moto X Style completely caseless. I dropped it several times too, and even though it looks a bit banged up and scratched on the edges, the rest of the phone and screen are fine. I just got a TPU case for it recently because I didn't want to push my luck. I do prefer it naked though
i never use screen protector or case

Same here .. I have case I use occasionally.
Been using the phone naked for over 1.5 years. What's the use of having a good looking phone just to cover it up with some ugly case. People need to be careful when handling phones as they are so fragile.
Conspiracy theory...

That's a good point. The number of people who break their phones, even these modern ultra-durable machines, is absolutely staggering. If they can't hold on to them, then a grippy TPU is essential. Or perhaps we've just uncovered the conspiracy behind the poor grip inherent in so many newer devices that still manage to garner praise from both the pundits and the peanut gallery.
naked from day one...
I used that bumper initially for a week and then threw it away. Since then its all naked and survived a few drops.
Using a phone naked is a way of paying respect to whoever designed it. What's the point of somebody designing a phone if its design will get covered by an ugly case?
Plus, Motorola thought about providing a bumper plastic protector -- it really worked for a while, until it broke apart.
One a jerk side note: people who cannot take care of something expensive should not spend money on that expensive thing. I always laugh at people who carry their iPhones with ugly cases; they don't deserve it due to their lack of attention.
1) Moto X pure as my main driver: everything stock
2) second-hand OnePlus 2 (PureNexus) as a backup
3) Moto 2015; later gifted to my father.

While I can see your point, I can also see the other side of the fence. I didn't buy this phone because of the physical aesthetics, buy rather for the specs at the price range offered. I didn't spend extra money for the wood or leather backing. And given that accidents can happen, i have a protective case. And there were bumper cases at one point which allowed for the looks of the phone to show through to some degree while offering protection.
Fair points

I agree with that as well to some degree, but more so for people who actually break their devices as a direct result of carelessness. As far as I'm concerned, they (in some ways) deserve a broken phone to help reinforce that lesson.

This is also fair. I too have been looking for the elusive CaseMate Tough Frame, (the only grippy "bumper" available for the Pure Edition as far as I know) and nobody seems to have it in stock anymore. These days, I rotate between the black Cimo Grip TPU, the eBay Special transparent grip TPU, and nothing at all. Two of those let the aesthetic of the device shine through, but the very act of switching seems to freshen things up enough to keep the phone interesting.
totally understood points.
On a side note: Lenovo is destroying Motorola inside-out :'(
I prefer a quicksand finish back case (for the extra grip only) .
