I have tried creating my own HTC Skin I seem to be doing everything correctly, the skin apk installs correctly, but when I try to apply the skin I get android.process.acore has stopped working, the settings doesn't work and HTC Personalize does not work. Is there a way of fixing this? Where am I going wrong in the Skin creation.
This is the tutorial I followed - http://www.teambamf.net/index.php/topic/612-how-to-make-a-skin-101/
Just for info, I have installed Jerry Tans mod, not sure if this would make any difference but I use the com.htc.resources.apk created by flashing his zip.
Thanks

Hate to tell you, but at this time making skins for sense 4 is not like that for past versions of sense. Instead of simply editing pngs there are a ton of m10 files which have to messed with to customize a skin and even then you still can't do everything you could on 3.6 skins
Sent from my trapper keeper
Can't edit the images contained within the m10 files yet, diamondback hasn't released the update for VTS to the general public because he wants tutorials written before that.

Ok, thanks. It's weird, I tried creating 5 skins, and one of them managed to work perfectly, which is a bit weird

Hey devs,
Found a few threads from the HTC Desire department where they are talking about Android 4.0 and making a 4.0 ROM for the Desire...
Is that also possible with our Sensation? I mean, we have better processor, GPU, screen etc. Haven't found anything about this in the Sensation department yet.
Thought I'd ask

no need to change the sdcard...
need some info here..you are 1.17.111 and i assume you are SOFF (deduced this by reading your post)...
the only misssing this is cid...if you are supercid thats good...otherwise
get the corresponding 3.32 firmware for your cid...or you can simply supercid as you are soff "fastboot oem writecid 11111111"

now for iCS you require 3.32 firmware...and what issues you are facing when flashing the firmware ?
you can take this guide as refernece for flashing firmware (steps 4 and 5 for flashing firmware)

You probably want to make a back up before just in case. But using es file explorer, go into settings and enable up to root, root explorer and mount file system. Copy the mms.apk into /system/app then paste. Click yes to over write the file. Then long press mms.apk, click on properties, click change under permissions, user, group, other should all have checkmarks under read/write, click ok. Exit file explorer then reboot.
It's as easy as that, haha.
Thanks for the fast reply. Cheers~
Haha it works a charm! Looks nice xD cheers again!

Thank to the creator/uploader for the file.
But I've got a problem, I moved the file to /system/app, overwrote the previous file, and changed the the permissios to rw-rw-rw-, yet when I reboot, the app isn't installed, now I have no sms functionality, which makes me sad.
I even tried my luck and attempted to install it, it threw me an error about "Application not installed"....
Hey XDA-Developers members!
I would like to replace the HTC Sense with something else, for example ADW launcher.
I found on this forum xda-developers something which I found interesting.
( Rosie.apk -> HTC Sense !!! install other launcher before removing like ADW !!! )
Does that mean that I can Remove/Freeze ( HTC Sense ) and replace it with ADW?
Model number:
HTC Sensation Z710e
If you are looking just to change the launcher, you don't necessarily even need to freeze applications. Go to the play store and install the launcher then choose that as your default. That might be a lot easier.
For a more cleaner Rom get root explorer but first install a launcher and the open up explorer and go to system>app and delete anything to do with sense fore example rosie.apk and widgets

Sure can.. I'm running Nova and froze sense. If u wanna remove it just back up jus in case.
Keeping 2 launchers consumes more juice. Atleast thats what it did back in the Eclair/GB days.
But keep the sense lockscreen.. if not u need to unlock to see caller I'd. Bug thing.

Hey Sindroid.
Can you please tell me exactly which Sense apps you froze.
I would like to do the same.
But I'm scared that I will freeze the wrong apps.
I have two sense apps [DESKTOP] HTC Sense and HTC Sense
you can always flash HNS which is stock but without sense thing, except camera (gallery and music player if you prefer stock).
or use Virtuous Inquisition.
you can find it in development section.

^^^This.
I'll explain briefly for people who don't know. OTA files contain lots of .p patch files which are generated by diffs of 2 builds (obviously HTC devs have the source code so they can do this) then compiling all the changes made to a file into 1 .p file. This helps minimize the OTA file size - e.g ever wondered why RUU for Sensation ICS is ~450mb but the OTA was only ~230mb?
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio Z715e using xda premium
Edit: The hell? how did my post duplicate itself
What Jonny is saying is that the ota simply adds on to the files that are already on the one s. The full system dump could be much bigger than that ota, but to make it smaller they simply add the new things to the old things to make them work. We need the full system dump because we don't have the source code so we can't make head or tails of the ICS system dump and the ota separately.
Edit: the information above is wrong, as is the post Jonny posted twice above.

I don't think so. Sense is an user interface that changes most of files of a rom.
What you can do is search for a sense theme in theme section (probably there isn't one) or wait for venom team fix and release jb sense version. They already got it working, but there's still some major bugs.
