Hey XDA-Developers members!
I would like to replace the HTC Sense with something else, for example ADW launcher.
I found on this forum xda-developers something which I found interesting.
( Rosie.apk -> HTC Sense !!! install other launcher before removing like ADW !!! )
Does that mean that I can Remove/Freeze ( HTC Sense ) and replace it with ADW?

If you are looking just to change the launcher, you don't necessarily even need to freeze applications. Go to the play store and install the launcher then choose that as your default. That might be a lot easier.
For a more cleaner Rom get root explorer but first install a launcher and the open up explorer and go to system>app and delete anything to do with sense fore example rosie.apk and widgets

Don't I get faster performance if I remove or freeze HTC Sense?

If I remove every thing from HTC Sense can I install Launcher Pro then as a system app?
If you hate sense that much, flash an aosp rom. You will get the pure android experience you are looking for with none of the sense framework that causes lag

Im with skipjacks, just flash an AOSP rom if you dont want Sense

Q&A means Questions and Answers, here is the Q&A forum for the Sensation.
Sure can.. I'm running Nova and froze sense. If u wanna remove it just back up jus in case.
Keeping 2 launchers consumes more juice. Atleast thats what it did back in the Eclair/GB days.
But keep the sense lockscreen.. if not u need to unlock to see caller I'd. Bug thing.

Hey Sindroid.
Can you please tell me exactly which Sense apps you froze.
I would like to do the same.
But I'm scared that I will freeze the wrong apps.
I have two sense apps [DESKTOP] HTC Sense and HTC Sense
you can always flash HNS which is stock but without sense thing, except camera (gallery and music player if you prefer stock).
or use Virtuous Inquisition.
you can find it in development section.

[DESKTOP] HTC Sense is Rosie.apk, which is the Sense launcher. the other HTC Sense is for your HTC account (if you use it)

do you have S=OFF and is your phone rooted? (Im assuming not)

Yes my phone is S=OFF and is rooted.
If you mean with GB Gingerbread then its GB.

I can't find it. BlueSky.apk, Burgundy.apk has in system/app folder, but there no HTC. May it depends of Sense, i have 3.0 ver.
Theme stays on my desktop, but "file is out there"
Problem is fixed and closed. Problems was in Rosie
Not sure if anyone would be interested in this (besides me), but i moved the text bubbles from the Sense 4.0 ROM to Sense 3.6. I thought I would share it with people.
Anyways, just moved the mms.apk to system/apps change permissions, then reboot.
Here's what it looks like...

You probably want to make a back up before just in case. But using es file explorer, go into settings and enable up to root, root explorer and mount file system. Copy the mms.apk into /system/app then paste. Click yes to over write the file. Then long press mms.apk, click on properties, click change under permissions, user, group, other should all have checkmarks under read/write, click ok. Exit file explorer then reboot.
It's as easy as that, haha.

either im really blind but i don't seem to have the /system/app directory in my sd card. i'm running ARHD 6.6.2 if that helps

Thank to the creator/uploader for the file.
But I've got a problem, I moved the file to /system/app, overwrote the previous file, and changed the the permissios to rw-rw-rw-, yet when I reboot, the app isn't installed, now I have no sms functionality, which makes me sad.
I even tried my luck and attempted to install it, it threw me an error about "Application not installed"....
So I tried installing the gs3 task manager and when I moved it to system/apps/ it replaced the HTC task manager and the gs3 task manager ended up not even working (it says cannot find null image) so I need the .apk for the HTC task manager and I've looked pretty hard to find it but still can't find it... I'm running stock rooted ics with sense 3.6
It would be greatly appreciated .

You coulda just plucked it out of any of the Sense 3.6 ROMs available in the Dev section but here ya go
Note: This is from a deodexed stock Sense 3.6 ROM... not sure if yours is deodexed or whether it would work if yours is not deodexed.
If in case, you can find a fully stock, untouched Sense 3.6 ROM in the Dev section to pluck from.
EDIT: changed the permissions and now it's working. I really appreciate it! And I actually don't know how to pluck it from a Rom. Is it as simple as unzipping the Rom and digging for the apk?

Thanks this isn't my first time around the block its just last time I did all of this is it was for the original mytouch 3g. There's been a lot of construction since then lol
Plan on diving back in tho teaching myself all of the new stuff.

Hi! HTC Notes is missing from the stock ics rom. It's available in the ICE DS rom so there should be no problem for stock users to have access to it as well. Could someone please pull the apk from that rom or make it available somehow for stock ics users? I suppose I'm not the only one who would like to have this app. Thanks in advance!

i think for it to work, it needs a sense-based ROM, preferable 3.6 and above?

I install in S-off and rooted dev, also not work. Fail to install.

Try renaming the file exstention .zip and flash from recovery, just an idea that may work.

Guys, the notes require three apps, plus some lib files. I'm not even sure if the size is correct, but I'll make a flashable zip tomorrow, just need you guys to test it 'cause I don't have the device.
EDIT: just like the other dude said, It's not meant for Sense 3.6, but I'll try to port it too.

guys just flashed jb 4.2.2 on my sensation xe it works nice but dont have htc sense is it posible to flash any htc sense separatly?
I don't think so. Sense is an user interface that changes most of files of a rom.
What you can do is search for a sense theme in theme section (probably there isn't one) or wait for venom team fix and release jb sense version. They already got it working, but there's still some major bugs.
thing is. i wish i can dual boot with two different roms... i remember something like that long ago. i wonder if it works... i should search the thread.
