I have a One S that I rooted and put an AOKP Jelly Bean ROM (device_ville_jb-build-1) on it. I'm trying to SIM unlock it to go to AT&T and the SIM unlock code I got from t-mobile isn't working.
What do I have to do? Do I have to flash back stock for the code to work? And, if I do, will the SIM unlock still be applied if I flash back to my awesome AOKP ROM?
Any help appreciated!
I happened to be in the same situation. You just need to install a stock ROM, such as TrickDroid, and insert the code again. It should work.

What do you mean by "stock ROM?" I tried to install both versions of TrickDroid on here and neither would install. Keep getting an error 1 or whatever it is.
By "stock ROM", do you mean an ICS rom or what?
Then flash the ruu

i had the same problem as well... even after going back to stock ruu i still cant seem to unlock my phone... keeps saying "incorrect password"...

Hey, did you ever find an answer? Same issue with a One X on AT&T.

I have LG nitro HD locked to AT&T, I have cyanogenmod ROM. I do have unlock code.
I'm trying to carrier unlock, but when I insert "not accepted" SIM card it doesn't ask for unlock code.
So I try the other method - dial 2945#*930# and nothing happens.
What can I do?

it's the cyanogen rom for sure, I don't think lg would know..
from what I have seen on my phone and other phones if you are using CM7/CM9 or possibly other custom roms that are not based on the stock rom you will not be able to use some of the dialer codes. that could be the reason you are not able to unlock the phone. you will need to flash a stock rom and unlock the phone. then you can go back to your rom and have the phone unlocked

Hi. I had an Evo 4G and CM9 mastered. My first mistake was getting an iPhone.
I now have an i717. It was rooted but I didnt recognize it so I immediately put in clockwork and CM9. I lost imei but it reappeared after putting in the radio vkl1 a second time.
I have some db's in the signal meter in settings so its getting something. The number isnt showing from the tmo sim though. The phone was never unlocked.
I do not get a prompt to unlock when I reboot. Did I need to unlock first? I thnk I know the answer.
What should I do? I can pay $10 or whatever but I shouldnt have to. Im not sure if I need to use this odin thing to get to a stock ATT rom or something before I can unlock? Please help. thanks in advance.
I say u should go to odin and unroot then reroot it just to be on the safe side. Then u could unlock it if u want but unrooting it should work. It always works for me

The i717 is the Galaxy Note, not the Skyrocket. Did you put a Skyrocket rom on the Note or was that just a typo?
.........
At this point I have paid cellunlock dot net to give me an unlock code.
Probably a common problem was that my USB cable was not in good status, using a usb extension, so I had failed flashing of firmware til late last night.
This morning I was able to install a stock ATT firmware. Now I receive a prompt for the unlock code. I cannot put CM9 back on it or do anything with it until I unlock it, so I am waiting.
**devpro**. you said no need to unlock? Im not sure. It certainly didnt ask for an unlock code when I was on cm9, but I could not make calls.
Could anyone clarify? Do I need to unlock if I am rooted, using tmo on att note?
I dont care much for odin or that kies crap. I prefer reboot to recovery, clockwork, rom manager and put cm9 on it. In critical situations its a life saver.
So im waiting on the unlock code or to find out i dont need it but i bet I do, especially since i travel overseas a lot.
???
If you're on T-Mobile, and using an AT&T phone you will need to unlock it.

I am doing the same thing with my Skyrocket. I got impatient waiting for the unlock code and rooted it, flashed CWM, custom radio, and CM9 on it. Then realized that after putting in non-AT&T SIM I wasn't getting unlock prompt. Keypad codes to bring up prompt don't work either. Hoping return to stock fixes it and I can just restore the CM9 from backup.

You absolutely have to unlock whether you're prompted or not. Rooting and installing non-stock software on it appears to result in lack of access to the unlock prompt (guessing UCLE2 radio but it may have just been CM9 in general).
I'll let you all know how it goes.
Success
Returned to stock using k0nane's method and Odin here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342348, shut down, removed battery, inserted non-AT&T ROM, booted up, and was prompted for the unlock code.
Note: Those that are planning on using k0nane's method above should use the file he links to (SGH-I727-UCKJ2-k0nane.tar), another archive I grabbed via a different thread boot-looped my phone and I ended up having to do some extra work.
I received an unlock code from AT&T for my One XL. The unlock code comes up as unsuccessful. I followed the unlock instructions exactly. And I've called back and verified that AT&T has the correct IMEI and double checked the unlock code. I've never had an issue unlocking a phone before.
I contacted HTC. They tell me to contact AT&T, as "they're the ones who have the unlock codes." AT&T tells me to contact HTC.
Would running CM 10 have any effect on my attempt to enter the carrier unlock?

Yes, SIM unlock codes only work on Sense ROMs, for some reason. Switch to a Sense ROM, and you should be able to unlock just fine. Then you can go back to CM10.

Do I have to go back to a stock ROM? Or just any Sense-based ROM from "HTC One X Android Development."
Would you know of a guide? I can't even recall which stock Rom I was running prior to unlocking the bootloader and going to CM10.
You don't even have a backup? Any sense rom is fine. They all have instructions that are easy for anyone to follow.

Restored a backup from 9/2. I forgot I even had it, as I didn't intend to go back to it. Unlock worked. Thanks all!
yupp sense ROM is the key
I put cyanogenmod 10 on my HTC One S.
I sent the phone to my cousin in DR (Dominican Republic) upon arrival we realized I made a big mistake. I didn't SIM unlock the phone.
I went online and found a website that does it for cheap: Cellunlocker.net
I got the code, sent it to my cousin, and he told me "it's not working".
I then looked on here (XDA) and found a "do it yourself method" for unlocking the SIM. Basically you input a command in Superuser and the phone gives you a number. You take that number and the IMEI number and you can calculate the SIM unlock code based on those numbers.
We ended up getting the same number that Cellunlocker.net sent us.
Could it be that Cyanogenmod is blocking my cousin from unlocking the phone?
PS. I have a video of my cousin unlocking the device (and failing) here: http://www.bodyctrl.com/stuff/unlock1.MOV
On the SIM unlock thread they mention it might not work if you're not on a sense rom. But you only need to be on a sense rom until you're unlocked and then you can go back to whatever you want.

just flash a stock rom on the phone, stock odex/deodex use unlock code then once done flash back to CM10.
SUCCESS!
This issue was resolved.
I installed a Sense Based ROM and performed a SIM Unlock on the device. The device then rebooted.
I then installed CM 10.
Device works perfectly fine now on any network of my choice.

I used the stock Sense (4.1) that shipped with the phone (after rooting) to do the sim unlock. Custom roms based on sense may have their own problems.

Have you tried the first step of ordering an unlock code yet? I'm unsure why this didn't work for the OP but if you continue to have issues, I'd suggest it.

Ahh. Might be just that. I tried ViperDroid and didn't work. The problem is that I didn't backup my shipped rom (shame on me), is there any way I can workaround this (e.g. is there any stock rom for me to download)?

Since the code I got from sim unlock procedure didn't work, I ordered a code. I ended up wit the same code.
I believe I got the unlock code for my One S while it was stock/rooted, but Im on a custom rom and was wanting to switch carriers to an ATT MNVO.
Can I just pop the new sim in and it will prompt me for the sim unlock code on the custom rom Im running right now? Its with 2.16 hboot using the Viper Rom / Sense 5. Or will I need to do a complete reset of the phone to bring it back to stock first?
Thanks
As far as I know, it's best to unlock your device on a stock rom. Once it's unlocked you won't need to do it a second time since it's permanent.
I had some trouble unlocking my device on different custom roms, just as i went back to a rooted stock rom the unlock worked.
Cheers Finn
