What are the minimum frequency bands required to use Straight Talk's (AT&T) HSPA+? I'd like to buy a Nexus One but I'm not sure if it will get HSPA+

If you get the gsm nexus off of Google everything will work fine. I believe ATT uses HSPA+ at 850 MHz.. which I am using now on the HTC One S.. and 1900 MHz .

I was just downtown Niagara Falls and I am with Rogers and my NS says 4G at the top. I thought all GSM Nexus S phones could only get 3G

Odd. I have never experienced this look up the bands Rogers uses maybe they have a 4g band compatible with the phone I know GSM ns uses 850 1900 2100 3g bands for hsdpa hsupa

Just googled it you are getting 3.5G hspa+ which is capable of 21mbps data speeds. Luckily you Canadians get way higher speeds than we do in the states because networks are oc12 standard. Hope this answers your ?

I didn't think the Nexus S other than Sprint's could get 4G?

its just fake 4G, they are calling their HSPA network which is 3.5G and just showing it as "4G".
Will my unlocked one x from att work on European 3g? I'm currently using it on edge on tmobile USA but am going to Germany and going to use O2. Will I get 3g there using this or no? Thanks

Thanks for the reply. Are you sure? I read another thread that said Europe uses 2100mhz and this phone doesn't work on that frequency

Yeah so will that give me 2g or 3g? It uses 1800 for GSM and 2100 for wcdma

Don't know where you read that, but its incorrect. The AT&T One X is fully compatible with HSPA/3G 2100 MHz.

I was just in Germany last week and can verify that 3G works just fine. I was roaming on AT&T, and data works fine on T-Mobile and O2. For some reason, I was not getting data on Vodaphone when my phone was auto switching to that carrier. Don't know why, so occasionally I had to force it to one of the other carriers.
I have been reading on here in more than one thread. I am using straight talk on my att hox now from what I read there is no lte on straight talk, I'm runing viper Rom and my phone is bouncing from 3g to 4g.. is lte above 4g or is it just att name for 4g speed?

LTE is higher then 4g. When you have LTE speed is obviously faster then 4g and everyone doesn't even have it. Edge-3g-4g-4gLTE

In reality its 2g(edge)-3g-3.5g(hspa+)-4g(LTE)

Ok explains it now since yesterday I have seen 2g, 3g, H, and 4gLTE being the 4g icon is there until there's a data request then it shows H active

H = 4g LTE

I've got an AT&T straight talk sim in my i9020t and can only get an edge connection, from what I can tell it looks like I need a Tmobile sim. I read about an SII that you could flash a radio that would make it work though, anyone know anything about this? I'd rather try flashing some before I order a new sim.
I've heard that too about the GSII, but I'm afraid the situation is different for the nexus s. Your I9020T's 3g radio will only work on tmobiles frequencies; the hardware's reception capabilities cannot be changed by flashing something.
Now, I'm not familiar with the sim you currently have in, BUT, if that network uses the same frequencies as T-Mobile, all you need to do is adjust your APN's.
I'd look up the frequencies for you, but I'm off to class..
Let my know how it goes/what you find!

Thanks I'll see what I can find.

I'm pretty sure that he's right about being stuck on the edge with at&t. 3g frequency only on tmobile. You would need a pentaband phone like the gnex to get both carriers 3g or hpsa+

Yep, at&t 3g frequencies are not the same as T-Mobile frequencies. You definitely need a T-Mobile sim for your i9020T
